Absolutely amazing

We had a terrific time the grounds were very well maintained, our rooms were gorgeous and the staff went over and beyond to serve us well The food was awesome so many to choose from and of course the entertainment was super cool to watch we will definately go back thanks for great vacation Oh Transat was also awesome their service at airport and on plane was tremendous thanks again

Amazing Resort

We stayed at the Occidental at Xcaret - this resort was amazing. It was beautiful. Mature trees, monkeys, deer, lizards running around. Our family just loved this location. The food was outstanding. Highly recommend this location - we will be back for sure!

Family Friendly

We took our 7 year old and 11 month old for a week and we had the best time. There was so much to see and explore. The food was yummy and the staff was incredible. The sand at the beach is unreal. Our children could have spent the whole time there.

Disappointing resort

The grounds were nice and the staff were friendly. However there were many problems with this resort including: no hot water for showers, only 1 pool for non club members, not enough deck chairs and pool space available for non club members, washroom at beach was for club members only, the lobby buffet was hit or miss, main pool should have another bar, ala cart restaurants do not take reservations. The resort is over priced and I would recommend other resorts over this one.

Beautiful Resort

This was my first time on an all inclusive resort (and in Mexico). The resort itself was beautiful, very tropical and surprisingly full of wildlife. We stayed for 7 nights & really enjoyed the experience. The food was great, the people were very kind and helpful, and it always felt safe and comfortable. Our concierge in our building were amazing. Along with that the cleaning women were wonderful. Our main cleaner was Isabelle and she was always making sure we had a clean, fresh room to walk into whenever we needed. The extra activities and excursions were pricey, especially in a different currency (mostly USD) so it was disappointing realizing we were spending so much money on not even a full day of activities. We instead went into the city & bought our excursions through the local people. This was a better deal for your dollar. But all in all the hotel was wonderful and very beautiful. A great and relaxing place to stay for the week.

Incredible Trip

This turned out to be the best vacation, exactly what I needed and I cannot express enough gratitude for Jenn Black and her help in suggesting the resort based on my expectations. I was looking for complete R&R after a stressful period. the Occidental Xcaret was so perfect, with the relaxing environment, great food, friendly staff, excellent spa, sports bar for a couple of NFL games. Good resort

I enjoyed the hotel. Good staff and well trained. With excaret park within walking distance is a bonus. We bought the all inclusive package that is a benefit The food options were good and the resort was well maintained and very clean.

Awesome Wild Life

For being my first vacation i went in with no expectations... however i did not like paying extra for perks that i did not receive. Jeshua, Mauricio & Claudia in building 20 were amazing. I decided to fly with Air Transat which was a mistake because the perks they listed you get with this hotel you do not get..i ended up paying extra money for stuff i never received, The Xcaret park was awesome however i got the unlimited park pass which was suppose to include a meal and a beer in the park, it d [... read more]id not and the park wanted me to pay $30USD. The hot water would turn brown as well. ************************************************************************************************** OCCIDENTAL AT Xcaret this is my first vacation..its not too bad but when we got here no one recognized the perks. We didn't get bath robs & slippers till the third day in, we never got the mayan welcome or a private check in, never got the welcome gift & when we went to the xcaret park they said we still had to pay for the buffet when we had the ultimate package.. we showed them the papers of what we were suppose to get but all they did was just try selling us time shares...they said i had to buy wifi that i didn't get an hour free.. other than all that i guess for my first vacation isn't that bad..but i'm kind of upset because i paid so much for this stuff that i never got. Basically all the perks we were suppose to have we didn't get. **************************************************************************************************

Beautiful resort!

Food was incredible, the pool bar was super fun and the staff was amazing! Lots of wild life walking around which I thought was really cool, we got to see some monkeys and iguanas :) the beach was also very beautiful. My favourite part was the catamaran/snorkeling excursion! Would definitely recommend that. I would love to go back to this resort!

Best trip ever!!!

We arrived on the 14th of April. Check in was easy. They took care of our luggage. We were in building 22. We were greeted by Alma St Clair. Who was very professional and catered to all our needs. She was amazing!!! The resort was like a dream come true for me. I loved all the wild life and the jungle feel to this resort. It took a few days to figure out our way around,but we found all the staff to be very helpful. Oh yes, the staff. Nothing short of amazing! And that is what is so importan [... read more]t to me. Is to feel that I am part of a family. I would like to mention a few people that stand out... Our housekeeper,Antonio, our waiters in the buffet,Julio Valez,Joseph Perez,and Sergio Trujillo. Also the medic who looked after my toe that I had cut, Emmanual Delos Santos. He has a special place in my heart. He was so good! I want to say that our room was great. Loved the pools and the entertainment. The different restaurents were all good. The wine could be a bit better, my only complaint... I will return and will recommend this hotel to all. Bad food

Had diarrhea every day. Food was bland and nothing special. We ate at every restaurant. Salt water pools were great. There really isn't a beach as it is man made. We attended a wedding and unfortunately the meal was served in a private room which was exposed to the outside and it was very hot and humid.

Family fun

The hotel and its surroundings were beautiful. We fed wild monkeys and saw lots of different animals. Having the Xcaret Park so easily accessible was great. The only negatives were not a lot of entertainment for the kids and the food was never hot just warm

Great vacation

We really enjoyed our vacation at this hotel. The lush grounds and wildlife are what attracted us to this property and we were not disappointed. We saw monkeys, deer, coti, iguanas and more. The hotel is very nice although older has been recently renovated. The restaurants were all delicious and no reservations required for the à la carte. With the bar, restaurant and restrooms nearby we spend most of our time at the beach. We finished our days at the pool going back and forth between the quiet pool with shallow walk in end and the busier livelier pool with swim up bar. The service was great. Everyone is eager to help and very friendly. A little far from the airport but we were closer to all the parks we wanted to visit so the location was great for us.

Excellent experience

My husband and I just came back from a week at the Occidental XCaret in Mexico and we loved just about everything about it. The staff was very attentive, polite and went out of their way to accommodate us whether it was in the restaurants, beach, front desk or even the cleaning crew. The food was tasty and plenty at the buffet and we only ate at 3 specialty restaurants which were good (steak house, sea food and Italian) but overall was a very nice experience. The thing that stood out the mos [... read more]t about the Hotel was the excellent cleanliness all over: the pathways, the pool area, the hotel inside and grounds. There were people constantly sweeping, washing or painting the different areas of the hotel to keep it spotless. We were in awe of the amount of trees, plants, greenery that surrounded the hotel which meant that a lot of animals were present on the grounds all the time. These little creatures (monkeys, parrots, exotic birds, salamanders, iguanas, were always around but did not bother us. They also had white tail deer, tapirs, and larger animals inside enclosures for clients to admire. We ever have had such good service at a hotel since we have started to travel 35 years ago. The only negative part of the trip was the beach. It was far from the hotel and had lots of sargassum (seaweed) which is unfortunately not the Hotel's fault but due to the warm weather currents and storms in the Caribbean sea. This is not a hotel for people with mobility issues because of it's large size.

Great resort

We had a great 2 week vacation. The food was ok, nothing spectacular but not terrible either. The service was great, rooms were cleaned well and we had a great time at the pools. We spent 2 days at Xcaret park and really enjoyed the experience. I would go back!

Fantastic Time!

Occidental is a fabulous resort. There is wildlife everywhere and you really feel like it is a cozy resort, but in fact it is huge. The staff is fantastic (Victor the bartender, Fernando the activities guide) and very friendly. The food at the buffets was always fresh and the a la cartes really went out of their way with food and service. I highly recommend this resort and we will definitely return.

Very nice

I was impressed with the service! I could get gluten free food at all the restuarants but sometime not much flavour. There is still some education needed for the waiters and cooks. The pools were nice but could not always find a lounger to lay on. The breeze off the ocean made the heat bearable.

Occidental Xcaret

We had a great time at this resort. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Monkeys swinging through trees and on our balcony, flamingos, deer, iguanas everywhere. It was lovely. The drinks and food were plentiful. The beach/cove was closed and mirky as a recent storm created a sanddune which closed the opening, but a natural beach formed due to it which we enjoyed. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. We would return.

What no Corona extra

Large resort in a jungle setting

We arrived at the Occidental in the late evening, they gave us a quick overview and a map of the resort. The resort shuttled us to our building where our room was. Our room was a very nice room, but damp and moldy. If you want to watch tv, good luck as it was hit and miss everyday whether there was reception and my partner wanted to watch the superbowl. We got tv on the last 10 seconds of the game. The first morning we had to find our way through a maze of trails to the buffet on the beach. The [... read more] food was limited and cold, but very tasty. We found the lobby buffet for lunch through the maze of trails and pathways. The buffet was amazing for lunch and dinner. The lunch buffet at the pool is also very tasty and a great variety. There are no signs to help you find your way around saying which way was what so you are always asking for assistance. This is a very large resort area. It took 3 days to figure out which way to go to find our way around. The resort is beautiful with all the wildlife and beautiful plants throughout. The resort is shared with monkeys, birds and land creatures. There are signs telling you not to feed the animals, but no information of what these animals are. Many people were confused on which way to go to find the buildings and where everything was located. Signage would help not to waste time to help find your way around. We got moved from the first floor to the third. I went outside on the balcony, closed the door and realized I was locked out. I lifted the patio door and was released from the balcony as there was no one to help get me back into the room. So the sliding doors are not break in proof. Dont close the patio door if you go out on the balcony. The staff, food and resort is amazing. There is an area near the lobby with a few $$ shops on, so you dont need to leave the resort unless you need anything from a pharmacy. A small pharmacy would be of assistance for sure. As I said the food is amazing and there is no waiting. The steak house, chinese and mexican restraunt is very nice with a limited menu. The menus dont change so you know what to expect each day. A lot of walking though. The resort is clean and the staff works very hard to keep it that way. The staff is very friendly and there is a lot of staff asking you to go on the tour to join their resort club, dont bother wasting your time to get the free bottle of tequila. The resort has daily activities and nightly entertainment. We had fun joining in on the activities around the fantastic pool area and the nitely entertainment is very good, we made a lot of friends. Most of the guests are middle age. It is a quiet, respectful resort with no drunk unruly guests. The area near the ocean is quite a walk from nearly all the rooms. The beach club is quiet in the lagoon and another small walk takes you to the ocean. The area at the ocean is not for swimming. There are rocks and a strong current. Old mayan ruins are still on site and it is very picturesque. Would I recommend the Occidental at Xcaret? If the price is right .... possibly now that we know our way around.
