Horrible!!!!!

Do not go to this hotel or Cuba in general. Lack of food, very difficult to find nutritional food to eat anywhere in the hotel, no eggs/chicken only pork and burnt beef, ppl were sick with GI issues, pool dirty, ppl smoked all over the property including balconies, shops did not have alternatives for food, no gift shops, rooms are very worn and tired looking, torn bed sheets, shampoo/soaps not restocked, 1 toilet roll per room, and birds roosting/pooping in the lobby. Airport awful!! Watch y [... read more]our passport/ boarding g pass. My boarding pass was stolen while it went through the security scanner! Yes, within a 3’ machine. I think the security crew are scamming ppl to get personal identity info. Horrible trip. I left 2 days early as quite unwell. I will never go to Cuba again ever. Be careful!!!

Great time

had a family or 4 , kids loved the pool, ocean and the ice cream shack the most, were lacking some foods,eggs, bacon etc, but got by ,heard from people on the return bus that thier resorts had everything including french fries, all in all good trip

Very Nice Resort Given the Circumstances

Everything at the resort was well prepared. They are suffering though due to the country's state of affairs. The resort only had eggs one day out of seven. According to the locals this was because the county's current leader is diverting all funds to the military and there is nothing left for non essentials. No one in Cuba wants anything to do with Cuban Pesos so don't believe the travel websites (including this one) when they say Cuba's currency is Pesos. They only want Canadian or US currency [... read more] in bills (no coins).Even the currency exchange booths at the resort and airport won't take it. The currency exchange websites say 1 Canadian dollar = approx 17 Cuban Pesos but in reality if you try to use it at a market thay want at least 150 Pesos in eqivelent to 1 dollar. We did enjoy the resort. It is well laid out. The help is very friendly. In fact our daughter is contimplating going back in April with a friend. I recommend taking a 2 hour horse and buggy taxi excursion from a local. They will take you places you wouldn't normally see and our driver only wanted $25 for the three of us. We gave him $100 because of the excellent effort he made, the time spent, and he was training a new driver.

Amazing resort

I stayed in resort for a week. Just came back. I liked this resort very much. It is clean, well maintained. Large grounds, lots of trees and greenery, one buffet restaurant, 3 restaurants for lunch amd dinner and 4 al-a-cart restaurants. Service is ok, Food is ok, not so great but good enough. Resort is very good.

Hotel is very good, clean and comfortable. Service staff are all professional and friendly. Territory is well maintained ,a lot of green spaces. Pools and washrooms are clean. Beach is beautiful, a lot of free space.

Very good resort!

One room that my party stayed in was great 6221. Zero complaints. My room which was 4905 wasnt great. No coffee machine, warm water (not hot) power went out twice, water ran out, toilet didn’t fill up properly. We had to fill a bucket to flush sometimes. Beach was amazing. Food was pretty good. We aren’t picky. No French fries, ketchup or burgers, great pasta, omelettes etc. chicken sometimes available. Overall trip was great. A lot of walking but shuttle is available to pick you up upon re [... read more]quest which I didn’t realize until half way through the trip. Overall still 8 out of 10. Also new chairs for the pool were delivered on our last day.

Wonderful Family Holiday

This resort did not disappoint. The beach was perfect - a somewhat sheltered bay with sandy beach and some rocky areas to snorkel. Hobe Cats and Pedal Boats were great! Hotel was well maintained and staff were wonderful. Grandkids (14-5 yrs) loved the sports area, ice cream hut, and 24hr snack bar (especially the cheese balls). Worst part of vacation was rude guests who felt they were more important than anyone else, and thought they should be able to get everything they could at home! By far this is the best resort we have stayed at in Cuba in our 6 visits. Bring bug spray - you don't see them but they leave itchy bites, and a face cloth or loofah. Daughter & Son brought instant oatmeal (without milk) for one picky eater and peanut butter for another. If you like 'snack foods' and 'candy' bring those as well. Massage was worth the money!! One area of improvement would be Theatre Shows - other resorts have had better shows.

Great Vacation

The property is on a beautiful beach, has a large maintained pool with areas for a quieter poolside or closer to activities and bar. Gym, sports area, spa, clinic, stores, hair/nail salon, cigar bar & bank onsite (I’m forgetting all the amenities). The staff are phenomenal and there’s always some sort of programming going on. Food is plentiful and good. Buffet has lots of ingredients that vary based on season and availability but not a lot of packaged food/seasonings so if you are particu [... read more]lar bring a bottle of sauce, or syrup for pancakes if you have kids, and leave it with the staff when you checkout. There is a 24 hour snack bar as well as restaurants, many open for lunch but require dinner reservations. Bring some small bills and loonie/toonies if you want to tip, staff will be looking to trade in their coins for larger crisp bills for use at their bank. Overall we had a great vacation, I would definitely return.

Great Resort

I only have issues with the food and the fact that there was no SPRITE OR 7UP or anything similar to replace it. You replaced Coke with a cola, do the same with Sprite. Everything else was great. The beach was fantastic as was the pool.

One of my favourite resorts

I enjoyed the friendly and helpful staff. I enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and of course the beach— amazing. There was some lack in the buffet but there was still fresh fish and meat and more food than l could eat. Since Covid things have changed all over the world. Imagine what it would be like if countries could adopt the second greatest commandment and apply it in their dealings with one another….” You must love your neighbour as yourself”

They made a returning client

This resort was recommended to me by a family member. I was assured that I would love the resort, and they were not wrong. I went to another resort earlier in the year and the experience was night and day. The staff is extremely friendly, respectful and knowledgeable. My girlfriend who is vegetarian was worried about the food selection at thr resort but they were extremely accommodating in fulfilling her dietary needs at all the reservation restaurants and made the experience even better. The be [... read more]ach is incredible with white sand throughout with an option for great snorkeling. The nightly entertainment was lacking but still great with the circumstances that arose after covid. I will be returning here and will only be going to this resort for now on. It's worth it to spend the extra money to turn your trip from a good trip to a great trip and go to this resort.

Nadejda,Valeri. We were on the otel Playa Pesquero for the second time this year: in April and October. Thanks to everyone from the reception of the area to the gardeners. The people work great. Beautiful beach, wonderful ocean. One thing was upsetting: the food was 10 times worse than in April. There was no fresh food vegetables and fruits / except papaya /, everything is pickled. The food is not 4 stars, but 2 stars. I like the hotel itself, but I’m not sure that I’ll want to come again.

Beautiful resort

Smooth check in, wonderful and helpful staff, amazing beach and pool, considering the time of year the weather was wonderful and lots of food options at the buffet and restaurants. So much to see and do in 7 days, rooms were clean and spacious. Would go back again.

Love it!

This is my third time at this resort and it was a joy to return to Playa Pesquero! The people, the ocean and a friendly atmosphere bring me back. I enjoyed the spacious room (all my requests about the room location have been honoured by the travel agent and by the hotel staff), wonderful shows, cappuccinos, conversations with local people, well-educated and polite staff, beautiful picturesque views. I just love this place and want to come back.

Loved, loved, loved our vacation at Playa Pesquero!

We are a family of 4, three adults and one teenager and booked a 2 weeks Cuba vacation in Holguin, at Playa Pesquero at the recommendation of our friends who vacationed here 3 times. It was our best Cuban vacation to date, and we cannot wait to go back! This is a wonderful resort with beautiful grounds and amazing people that work hard to make sure guests are happy and enjoy their time at Playa Pesquero! The ocean was picture perfect, with turquoise, crystal clear and warm water. Beach towels are always available! We didn’t spend much time at the pool because we are beach lovers, but the Canada celebration at the main pool was a great party, with a live band, drinks and so much fun! We made tons of friends at Playa Pesquero and we would have loved to party more and dance after dinner, in the lobby, but there was not much entertainment for adults and kids at night, beside the show, between 8-11pm. Hopefully the management will think of this and add a night dancing scene.The breakfast was great, we ate mostly omelettes, pancakes, and fresh fruits in the morning. We didn’t really care for the food at the buffet for lunch and dinner (quite repetitive and not a great variety), but the a-la-carts were all amazing for dinner. For lunch, we ended up eating almost everyday at the place by the beach, on the patio. The food here is all great: pizza, fish, pork, beef, and chicken was available the second week we were there. The food at beer garden is also very good, their chicken tastes like KFC! Our 2 connected rooms we stayed in (top floor in building 11) were nice and large, with ice cold air conditioning and big balconies. Beautiful resort and, I have to repeat this, what makes this resort different from other resorts is all the amazing people that work here! All staff, from managers to gardeners, greet you, smile to you, ask if everything is okay, make you feel like home and like part of the big Playa Pesquero family! We brought gifts from Canada and tipped everyone because we wanted to show our appreciation for their hard work! They appreciate monetary tips, but cannot buy much with money in Cuba so please, if you’re going and have room in your luggage, bring gifts they can use: toothpaste, toothbrush, make-up, toys, baby stuff, toys, chips, sweets that don’t melt easily, Nutella, crackers, fishing stuff for the gardeners, etc. You can get more gift ideas by reading reviews on TripAdvisor website, if you want. We are in love with Playa Pesquero and highly recommended this resort!

#1 resort in 30 years plus of travel to the south

1st time to this hotel and we are looking forward to returning. Beach #1 Staff #1 Food is good, selection is good, are you really going south for the food! Rooms were spacious Showers were awesome. Hot water any time every time. I do not think anyone could honestly complain about this resort. Staff and management congratulations on a job well done. Look for Yonlier. Amazing people!

This resort is a lovely big one with many different restaurants, places to sit with an espresso, plenty of chairs both at the pool and the beach and has great entertainment. My favourite thing about Cuba and this resort are the kind sweet people! The beaches, sea and sun are what draws me there but the kindness of the people are what brings me back time, time and again! They chat and ask how the visit is going and if something is needed they are quick to rectify. Every time I requested a drive to the front desk or a restaurant the driver was there in less than 5 mins and cheerfully drove me where I needed to go. I would definitely recommend this resort to others!!

Amazing as always

After three long years of not going back to Cuba, I finally decided to go back. At first, I was reluctant in returning since knowing how things are in Canada, employees don’t usually stay for a long time at the same place. To my pleasant surprise, 90% of the employees are the same as before. Not one day went by that I did not have people with beautiful smiles greeting me. AS MENTIONED ABOVE SECOND VISIT FOUND THE RESORT WAS WELL MAINTAINED ALTOUGH IT WAS HARDLY 25% FULL.SAME FRIENDLY STAFF BUT FOOD SHORTAGES .NO LOCALLY PRODUCED CORN,CASSAVA (YUCA)AND BANNANAS NOT EVEN A SINGLE ONE.NO BEEF UNTIL LAST 2 DAYS.RAN OUT OF EGGS LAST 2 DAYS.DRINKING WATER RATIONED TO ONE BIG BOTTLE A DAY THAN LUG IT AROUND FOR REFILL AT BAR.ON THE WHOLE WE HAD SAME VARIETY AT BUFFET.A LA CARTE ONLY ONE OPEN .MANAGED TO FEED OURSELVES.WENT TO RESORT MOSTLY FOR CALM WATERS.
