Horrible Resort

We arrived at the resort and the reception personnel were not welcoming or helpful. We got our room and it was definitely not what we expected. Broken shower, air conditioner not working, smelled bad. We complained to front desk and after 3 attempts plus talking to the customer services manager they would not move us. The food at the buffet and other restaurants was absolutely terrible. We spoke to the west jet rep the next day and they were able to get us moved to a new resort for day 3 of our [... read more] trip. The next resort was a down grade but room was all working and reasonable as well as the food being 110% better. Overall we still enjoyed our trip but will never return to Cuba again. I am hoping that I can speak to someone with Trip advisor/West jet vacations about a partial refund due to the nature of events.

3rd Visit and another Gem!

This was our 3rd visit, and first since the "plague". Another fun, relaxed experience. It is important to have a proper expectation when visiting Cuba, this was our 7th trip to the island. They make the best with what they have, with a heart felt smile, and are very engaging, you just need to smile back! The beach lounger chairs are tired, I think the are the ones from the pool, as those are replaced. The food was excellent. There are shortages of different things but we always had something different, and delicious. What keeps us coming back? The staff! Beach bartenders Maday and Richard, and Yusmila at the Piano Bar are fantastic! Seek them out and you will love them! Guest experience staff Lili and Tony, were very helpful, always with a smile. Can't wait until next year!

Horrible resort

This trip was one of the worst ones we have ever experienced. There is NO way this resort is a 5 star it’s more of a 3. We had NO coffee all week- water we had to beg for and don’t even ask what we had to use to dry ourselves after a shower. Customer service there was horrible- everyone and their mother was complaining about somethings. I am no princes, nor did I go to Cuba to eat like one but the staples? There would be nights they’d take our towels and not return them leaving us and many others with nothing to dry ourselves with. Our flight was delayed… so they gave us a courtesy room to have a shower before our flight- it was disgusting —-we had to use our flip flops in the shower the room was gross and again - non towels to dry off- we after going to front desk to complain we just needed imputing tshirts from our luggage to dry off. Sad part is— anyone we talked to that was being picked up along the way had plenty of coffe and plenty of food options so it’s not a Cuba thing as much as just a BAD resort. I can garentee anyone that went will Not be going back to that resort again. Disappointed over this experience and will never go back

Disappointing

This is my fifth trip to Cuba and I understand the shortage in Cuban resorts but this was beyond my comprehension of that. Not gonna get into what was absent but from the cleanliness of the resort and absolutely no staples. No coffee no eggs no meats no shrimp no. Even oil or vinegar were completely absent. Listen I’m not a picky guy I wasn’t raised in royalty but this was terrible. Be prepared & understand where you’re going

While this resort is nice, Cuba is experiencing shortages more than normal right now. Upgrade to the “Royal” side if possible. Simple things we take for granted like butter, water & coffee are all hard to come by. Adding to this, the bugs are also out and craving humans more than I’ve ever experienced before. Had the weather cooperated, our vacation would have still been good. Sadly, we didn’t get much sun either. Outlets are also all used for lighting that seems to be, at best, mood lighting.

Unfair called as 5 star hotel

We have been in Cuba 17 times including Varadero, all the times 5 star hotels . This hotel Princess del mare was our worst experience! It is not definitely 5 star hotel !!! ! a)Rooms are not clean, sink and facet was so dirty !, it was not properly cleaned at least for 2-3 years, I could not even touch that b) the worst there were cockroaches everywhere. I have phobia about that , so I had to sleep with the light. c) They gave us only one towel for each of us for all week long , the same to [... read more]wel was for the face and feet ! No drinking water was in the fridge . Every day I had to call at least 5 times to ask Customs Service to bring that to our room. d) There was not a basic normal food in restaurants, even eggs, butter for breakfast , soup was cooked with adds of uneaten salad from yesterday, like pieces of ham, cabbage, pasta, carrots , corn and something else together ! e)A la cart restaurants are even worse! Cockroaches were running on the table near to my plates. Waitress could not speak International language English at all !!! f) Beach chairs were no flat and it was impossible to lay on that at all ! beach sand was not cleaned from grass and other garbage in the mornings like in other resorts. g) and as a rule they pushed us to give money to get something what we had already paid for ! Just after our arrival while checking in they provided us a room with one bed on the 3 floor ( despite our previous request for 2 beds and the fist floor . we are mature 70 years old people ) But just after one minute later with US $25, they gave what we needed. We came for 2 weeks vacation and our time was spoiled and we wasted $5000 and time to rest !

Complete dissapointment

Filthy conditions, run down amenities all over the resort, awful and tasteless food and drink, constant inconsistency, serious lacking for the royal service, boring excursions and horrible aircraft for the flights made this "vacation" more of an expensive headache than an enjoyable experience. Now I have the fun of being locked into a post complaint process in which trip central does nothing. Thanks!

Wonderful Resort

We arrived Friday noon, and we're immediately impressed. Everyone was very friendly, the rooms were clean, and the grounds were stunning. We were warned that there may be some food shortages but we did not notice this at all. The beach and swimming areas were excellent! The pools were lovely and the swim up bar fantastic. Fantastic spot

Grounds were wonderful, clean, easy to navigate and the people were wonderful! Yes a bit of food shortages but we knew that going in ---- had the most fabulous time, weather was amazing and the ocean was perfect! A last minute getaway for us and it was just what we needed!

Good Resort

The resort was nice but needs updating in aesthetics. They are trying to keep up with wear and tear but are lacking in places. Where there once was outdoor shower heads to wash off from the beach they have patched it up completely or they are not working. Toilets need to be cleaned regularly and always well equipped with toilet paper. Restaurants were good buffet good especially if you like fish but repetitive all week both lunch and dinner. Perhaps we should get a refund for what they withhold it would have been nice to get some of the options we had new years the rest of the week. Room was fine but for whatever reason they are very reluctant to exchange bath towels something we pay and expect at the very least. They tried to entertain guests with special days/ events and entertainers. Beach was fantastic. Their bars are all very good and the resort tries to appeal to a variety of people with their cigar bar, piano bar and entertainment in the square at night. If they were to work on food and room cleanliness, and outdoor aesthetics it would be more pleasurable to stay at.

Nice Size resort

We thought the resort all in all was pretty nice, It appeared that some of the resort was not in use, making it feel like a nice size resort, everything was quite handy. It was great having a 24 hour snack bar that had more than just a ham & cheese sandwich. There were still some shortages of some items but to be expected. There was red wine and Rose wine but no white wine. The grounds were nicely kept and friendly staff.

Resort review

We just came back from PARADISUS PRINCESA del mar in Cuba. I was concerned as soon as we drove up to the gates and the light was knocked over and the m in mar on the sign was falling off. The rooms and resort in general are run down. It’s obvious Cuba is experiencing shortages. I heard the food in Cuba wasn’t good but was not expecting how poor it was. The staff are doing there best but we couldn’t even get clean towels in the room they were changed once the whole 7 days. Tipping was also expected for every service. Get a coffee, need to tip. Seven days and a tip for every drink adds up pretty quick. The beach was the best part gorgeous not busy beautiful sand.

We had a good stay

Paradisus Princess Del Mar managed to provide a very good service to their guests. the staff were accommodating and helpful. we had an Enjoyable stay and plan to book the same resort again in the near future.

Amazing resort

Ground and public area were very beautiful but no housekeeping service at all. We were very disappointed, no towels, no water. We called the front desk many time without any result. The restaurant was clean but no vegan options are available. I will never recommend it to any of my family and friends

Good resort

The reception area was inviting and clean., nice atmosphere. The grounds were amazing well kept. The pools were good. Rooms were ok. 3 stars. Food fair. Alacates were fine. Room service was bad. Loved their cappachinos, were amazing. There was food sortages eg coke, butter etc.

Great Time

I was impressed by the amount of shows and entertainment the resort featured. On top of a nightly show, bands showed up at restaurants and at the pool, so there was always some pleasant surprises. There were some food shortages, but I was satisfied with our meals given the expectations one usually has for Cuba. Beautiful beach and very friendly staff - it truly was 10 days of Paradise.

Hotel Review

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. The staff are always friendly and polite and ready to help. On this trip, we had a junior suite on the second floor in building #4. It was spacious and had most of the amenities needed with the exception of a few things. First, the air conditioner was not working. Second, the shower did not function properly (just a drizzle), and there was no plug for the bathtub. Overall, the grounds of this hotel were lovely and well-maintained. The pools were clean and staff ready to help in any way. The beach was lovely and staff made themselves available to help you if needed by moving chairs, offering drinks, or providing information on beach activities. The a la carte restaurants provided an relaxing experience and portions were acceptable. Evening performances were fun and varied.

Nice Resort - but….

Grounds have huge potential. It was being worked on as we were there but when we arrived, grass was long and sea weed that was piled in small mounds on the beach needed to be scooped up and sand groomed. Very good resort!

Beautiful grounds, very good room with balcony, the beach/ocean just amazing. The food is OK - we know that Cuba has some food shortage. They grilled beaf, chicken and fish everyday during lunch and dinner in the buffet. For pasta lovers there is a special corner. Some veggies adn fruits were always there as well.Coffee is always great in the Rock and Piano bars. The stuff at the resort are great, very friendly. It was a perfect stay at the Paradisus . Thank you all !!!

OK Resort

Arrived 11AM, had to wait till 5:30 for our room( we did royal service). Room was in the "Hilltop area", not in the 2 story units around the pool as described on the website. The hilltop room had a separate bedroom and 2 bathrooms...nice. Somewhat out dated but ok. The room we should have got was more updated. Loads of hot water in the rooms!! Staff were very nice, communication sometimes challenged in the restaurants. Food what you expect, chicken, pork, beef and fish in various forms. Buffet [... read more] only half open and food selection very limited. If it wasn't for the a la cartes, I would have shot myself. Dinners were excellent. Premiums liquors and wine were great. Beach was long and had walks everyday. Lots of shells and bits of coral on the beach. Preferred Cayo Cocoa to the Varadero beach. Our expectations are never high in Cuba, its inexpensive and a short flight from TO. The last night, 3/4 of the resort lost water. Offered another room to shower and tidy up. They offered us free royal service for another visit. Overall enjoyed the stay but will try another resort next trip.
