A great resort

We just got back from vacation(March 1to 8,2020) and was at an adult only resort, our first one. Don’t get me wrong, I have 4 kids, 10 grand kids so I don’t mind kids but it was quite nice having no little buggers whining and yelling, just a lot of people at ease and really enjoying the atmosphere. Having said that, the resort was large, clean , had a very large pool.From the pool area, there was a short walkway, to walk through perhaps a three minute jaunt to get to the beach.Nice sandy bea [... read more]ch, a bar and small restaurant for burger,fries and salad.Never had a problem finding an empty lounge chair or two, this being a first for me at any resort and I have travelled every year for at least ten years.The room was comfy and very clean,refrigerator was stocked daily, never had a problem with lack of hot water. The ac was ok ,not cool but not hot just comfy. Ok would have enjoyed a bit cooler but when it is 90 degrees and you come into room and it’s 72, cooler would be better. Just me....Let’s talk about food, the buffet was ok but not the greatest.Spaghetti was available daily, lotsa fish, chicken, salads.deserts,ice cream so everything was there. It was just how the food was prepared made it sometimes look unappealing.Coffee was not available in the buffet room at dinner???Speaking of coffee, if you don’t have a coffee machine in your room and you are an early riser, you had to get up,walk through the lobby, walk past the pool area, down the walkway to the beach and get your coffee at the beach cafe, a ten minute walk.Perhaps a coffee machine with coffee in the morning in the lobby would be a good idea??? Overall, the stay was quite good and I would consider doing it again.

Awesome staff- beautiful beach

Loved the layout of the resort- the different restaurants, entertainment and bars were appropriately scattered out making it feel less crowded and overwhelming. The food in general was good. We had one a la Carte at the Italian Restaurant and it was very good. Entertainment was also good. Staff at this resort were all amazing. Would definitely go back.

Would recommend!

I had originally stayed at the Blau Varadero 10 years ago. Since then we have visited Cuba twice and stayed at the Barcelona Solymar (pre renovation) and Memories. After our last 2 trips we swore we would not visit Cuba again due to the last two resort experiences. We visited last week on university spring break, 2 moms and daughters (they chose the destination). The Blau was great! The staff were outstanding, facilities exceeded expectations and service was exceptional. Food in Cuba is marginal [... read more] at best and the Blau was no different. Housekeeping in rooms could improve, bathrooms were not cleaned thoroughly daily and floors lacked attention. Our only negative experience was the Jeep safari with EcoTours, we would NOT recommend anyone book a tour with this company! Book through your travel agent with another tour company if you want a positive experience and to be treated with respect and feel secure. Our experience with EcoTours was horrible and they ‘denied’ our 2 page written complaint saying it was our word (4 ladies) versus the travel guide.

Relaxing and clean resort

Clean and friendly resort. Everything is close by and easy to get to. The food was actually not too bad and good variety. Chill out bar had great pina coladas. Great music everyday. Relaxing stay.

Very good Resort

Room was very good(select Ocean view). Beach is fantastic, ...... enough lounge chairs everwhere, ..... beach, at pool, in shady areas. The cabanas at the beach are a nice treat(15pesos/day). Staff are generally very freindly and helpful. I suspect the staff that are not freindly don't speak english well. The odd thing is that the least freindly staff were at the front desk!! Room was always cleaned well by the maid, who did speak very good english. There was always something on the buffet that we liked though. Best place we have been to yet in Cuba(3rd trip).

Amazing resort for adults

A nice relaxing resort with very little commotion, it was a relaxing time. There was always chairs available and everyday new activities. But generally people where not doing much, no big parties or frat bros making a mess of things. The resort was amazing, building was stunning. Location and beach where the best I've ever seen. The service was alright for the most part attentive, however every now and then they would ignore you completely. The staff barely knows English which is not a  [... read more]big deal however a good note to make it you have anything that requires deep understanding of the language it can be hard to convey properly and get the response you need.

An ok experience for first all inclusive

The hotel was clean. The room bright and had a great view of the sea. Staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. The food not up to snuff. I was warned about food in Cuba and I'm typically not a picky eater but the food was blah. By the end of the trip I was craving everything North American. Mind you, I don't have any all inclusive comparison, so overall as a hotel it was a good experience.

Wonderful resort!

This hotel has a lot to offer; first and foremost, the beach is amazing--I ran along the beach and this hotel's share of the beach was the best. Second, there are a lot of bars that could serve you daily, and one 24 hour bar which is near the beach.

Fantastic Resort

Everyone was so helpful, staff was fantastic! Friendly, spoke many languages, including good English. Food was great, so many delicious options. Great entertainment and all day activities - included. Highly recommended to anyone. Rooms were clean, a/c works great, felt safe at all times at this resort. Pool was amazing, beach was one of the nicest we saw and the biggest!!

Everything perfect.

The Blau exceeded our expectations. Being accustomed to 5 star resorts my friend and I were not sure what to expect. The Blau truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stepped off the bus we were impressed. Gorgeous lobby. Attentive staff. Clean, well maintained. Higher end crowd. Our room (ocean view select) was perfect. Large, gorgeous view from the 10th floor. Oversized bathroom. The pool area was gorgeous and also well maintained. We went to every one of the 4 restaurants (3 full a [... read more]nd 1 snack area on the beach) and 4 bars and were impressed with the quality and selections available. The beach was clean and gorgeous. Lots of lounge chairs and attentive staff. Fun games led by engaging entertainment staff. There was nothing about our stay that I would have changed. I will be back!!

Love this resort !!

Was recently at the Blau Varadero for a week. My first trip to Cuba. I loved everything about this resort. The resort is lovely with many comfortable sitting areas to relax and have a drink. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The beach is of course fantastic. One of the best parts of my trip were the people. The Cuban people are so kind, helpful, and do everything to make your trip a great experience. From the dining room staff, to the house keepers, the front desk, and our tour guid [... read more]e to Havana, everyone tried to make our trip as comfortable and memorable as possible. Loved old Havana! The beautiful historic buildings, cobblestone and narrow streets, and classic, colourful American cars, make it a trip not to miss. Would definitely go back to Cuba and to the Blau Varadaro.

The number 1 resort

Can’t wait to return!

The hotel, grounds, and pool were all very nice and in good shape and the beach was perfect. The shower had new fixtures with plenty of hot water and high water pressure. Every staff member we encountered were friendly and eager to please. The buffet was much better than we expected and two dinners at a la carte restaurants are included. We will definitely be back next winter!

Wonderful adult only resort!

BLAU Veradero is by far the best all inclusive resort I have visited. Room was spotless and comfortable. Well attended by cleaning staff. Resort was pristine and had many comfortable areas to enjoy. The resort isn't too spread out, everything being within 5 minutes walk. I appreciated that aspect. Pools is huge and chairs at pool and beach were always available. The staff is always smiling and the activities were yoir usual beach or poolside fun...I especially enjoyed Tony's yoga at the  [... read more]pool each morning. Most of all, the food was amazing. Daily seafood choices were superb (octopus, calamari, shrimp, mussels, swordfish, salmon, whitefish) and each evening, along with the ample regular choices , a special item was also being offered. Ie: sushi, turkey, roast..... I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a fun, comfortable and worry free week away!

Good but not so good.

It is good because at our age we need elevators. Capacity of elevators is so limited that we had to wait fo more than 10 minutes many a times. Beaches are very good, very clean rooms, service is good, rooms are spacious. Food is not so good. Meat, BEEF is generally not tender, fish some times not a good or tasty. Salt bottles have wet salt and cannot sprinkle. Over all it is a good place to go to.

Good Choice

This was our first stay at the Blau Varadero. The room was spacious, with a view overlooking the pool area. We liked the location of the room - on the main floor, near the restaurant, piano bar and elevators. It was great for a person like myself with a mobility issue. The food selection was great, but not always to our liking. Nevertheless, we always found something to enjoy. The beach was close by, and there was never any shortage of chairs. We had a minor issue with room cleanliness at the beginning, but that was resolved quickly.

Excellent experience!!

What a great relief that Cuba can be so awesome. We travelled Dec 27-Jan 4 and it was fantastic. The food at the buffets was fresh and plentiful. Chef grilled meats and fish everyday at lunch and dinner buffets, great veggie dishes and sides and excellent juice bar and fruit stand. We never waited for chairs either at the pool or the beach and the staff at the bars were great and friendly. Great nightly shows and fun poolside activities. Great spot

We have been there about 15 times, great beach, many refurbished rooms, good food for Cuba and amazing staff. Hard to be disappointed here. Resort is about 15 years old but still in good shape. There is a bus or train if you want to go to Varadero for some sightseeing or shopping.

Terrific Resort

This adults only resort is just what the doctor ordered...you are free to relax or participate in the many activities offered at the resort....my husband and I will definitely come back to the Blau Varadero...we have NO complaints...everything was perfect!

Nice place to stay

I was at the Blau Varadero from September 28 to October 5. It was my tenth times there. As usual, the service is amazing. The staff is like family. We arrived and feel welcome! The food is good and the A la carte restaurants also.
