Great Resort

Very clean hotel, everything was well kept at all times! I would recommend this resort to my friends and family, I will for sure go back. The food is delicious , the drinks as well. From service to cleanliness to beach and the spa, I would say 5+++

Great Vacation in Mexico!

We stayed at Barcelo Maya - tropical with 12 friends for a week and had a wonderful vacation. The resort was clean, food was good, staff were helpful and friendly. We had wonderful service at the a la carte restaurants and buffets alike. We mostly stayed around the pool as it was windy for the first few days but we did get out for a couple of days to swim with turtles. I would absolutely stay here again! Thumbs up!

AirTrans At/Barcelo

Not sure how much more I can say about how wonderful AirTrans At and the Barcelos are, both are incredibly professional and so helpful. Barcelos are a wonderful resort and the people are wonderful, can't say enough good things about them and believe me you get your money's worth. And then of course there is Wendy Harrington our trip central rep the best of the best.....

AMAZING!

this is my 2nd time at the Barcello Maya - i thik this is the best resort ever. Super clean, the beach amazing, food and drink excellent. Serve also excellent. i recommend this resort to anyone. I will be going again, just looking out for a sale.

Family Oriented Resort with Beautiful Beach

We enjoyed our time at the Barcelo Maya Tropical. We were blessed with amazing weather and the beaches were clean with crystal clear water and white sand (end of April). We have travelled to Mexico several times and in recent years have been very disappointed with the seaweed - fantastic to not experience this on our holiday. Public restrooms were often not equiped and properly cleaned - this was really suprising. Rooms are opened with key cards that often stop working - front desk staff are quite dismissive and not helpful. The staff in all other areas are kind and helpful. Beautiful walking paths and landcaping throughout the resort. We would definitely consider comimg back with grandchildren as there were so many activities for children to have fun.

Beautiful resort with immaculate grounds, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food - both buffet and all restaurants, great beach (appreciated the daily cleanup). I would recommend this to everyone.

Barcelo Maya Tropical

Great resort for couples and families. Lush grounds, Great pool areas and a good beach. Food was great, both the buffets and the ala carte restaurants were very good. Lots of choices and very fresh food. Staffing was just right, enough but not in your face. Even though the resort was sold out there were enough chairs around the pool or at the beach for everyone.

Great family resort

Resort is huge, it’s actually 6 resorts that are all linked together. The 4 resorts in the middle are the normal level family resorts (Tropical, Colonial, Caribe, Beach). The one on the north side is the higher end Palace family resort, the one on the south side is the adults only resort. There is as double decker bus that you can jump on and off at each of the resorts, it also stops at the go cart track, the mall, the spa, and the beach/dolphin show (all of these are located on the resort!). [... read more] There is a ton of things to do to keep you/kids busy. Even though the overall resort is huge, you will prob spend most of your time around where you are staying. We did the go carts which was fun, but kids have to be 14 to drive on their own. Also don’t go in the middle of the day (too hot). Dolphin show is good, but we felt sorry for the dolphins in that small space. Snorkeling is good out from the beach when it’s clear. I was a few stingrays, 1 small shark, and a bunch of different fish. If you go near some of the tide pools in waist deep water with some bread from the buffet you will have a bunch of fish come around you. Just drop the pieces of bread in the water, don’t hold it for them cause some have sharp teeth. Worth a visit is one of the cenotes across the road (not on the resort). We just walked across and went to Cenote Cristalino (google it) which was $47 US for all 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids). There are other cenotes around there too, but they are more expensive. The restaurants were all very good and worth checking out. The buffet is good, standard stuff you find at a resort buffet. We never had an issue finding tables and never waited very long for food. The nightly shows are ok, we’ve seen ones that are much better. But hey it gives you something to do after dinner. We booked with WestJet Vacations. They had a small shuttle waiting for us that only went to our resort which was nice. Shuttle ride was 45-60 mins from the airport and was comfortable. We stayed at the Beach resort, which we were happy with. Overall we were very happy with the vacation and would go back there again. Happy travels!

Our 6th trip and still fabulous with so much to explore

The varied sports activities, superb and abundant food, fine and friendly staff and well maintained buildings made for another memorable vacation for us at Barcelo Maya Beach Resort. We were able to visit and enjoy the 4 other resorts in the same resort complex. The continuous wide and white sand beach in front of all 5 resorts was exceptional for walking. Activities we really liked included the hydrotherapy spa (part of our Premium package), the outdoor courts with Paddleball, Tennis, Pick [... read more]leball and Basketball and the outdoor pottery painting hut at the Beach. Dinner at La Fuente was elegant, served by Lidia was not rushed and the food was excellent. The many buffets in the adjoined resorts were even better than the last time we were there. This was our 6th trip to Barcelo Maya Beach Resort and certainly not our last. Congratulations and thanks to the staff and management team.

Barcelo Maya Tropical

This resort was always clean and tidy. Overall, it was huge and this required a lot of walking to get anywhere. This made it inconvenient, especially for anyone who might have trouble walking longish distances. I would not recommend this resort to seniors and would not go back myself for this reason. I found that there was not much variety in the food in the buffets from one day to the next.

Great pools and beach, terrible buffet food

The beach was beautiful and cleaned well of seaweed. The water was sparkling turquoise and warm. The sand was soft as silk. The pools were clean and the perfect temperature and depth. We especially loved the kids water park area at Tropical as we travelled with a six year old. It was dissapointing that we had to wake up at 5am each day run down to save loungers. One day we didn’t and had to sit on the ground, surrounded by unused, yet claimed loungers. There has got to be a better system f [... read more]or this. The buffet was incredibly unappetizing. I hate cooking but I would have preferred cooking to the buffet food. I was so disheartened to discover the entire resort didn’t have cream for coffee. Only milk. Seems small, but seriously. Cream for coffee is pretty standard. The rooms were clean and nice. I liked using the soap, shampoo and conditioner provided. I loved how the mini bar was stocked each day with bottles of water and pop. It would have been nice to have more than just Pepsi and 7Up. I’m not really a pop person but I did hear grumbles around the resort about lack of choices. Also, every day I passed at least ten people struggling to use their key card to enter their room. The mechanisms need replacing. Beautiful resort. Very large. Great for young people who can walk around easily. Not great for older people. We liked it but will look for something with better food options for our next trip.

Will go back a third time!

Considering that it is Spring break in America and March break in Canada. It was still a good resort for the money that was spent. Where else can you have daily options of food, a mall, disco, escape room and an outdoor lap pool in one complex? The nightly shows, were surprisingly good (usually not interested). The Disney theme, was the best with bubbles and characters on their wheelie shoes. Professional, singing and costume design/choregraphy.

Barceló Maya Tropical

Forth time visiting will be back for a fifth! Clean and Fun!! Great value and the food is very good, pools are clean and we were with 4 other couples everyone loved it! Rooms are bathrooms are clean and the grounds are magnificent!

Outstanding resort and service!

The resort was exemplary and very family friendly. There were a lot of activities to do on the resort. The pools were amazing. Food was fabulous and the beach was outstanding. I would recommend this resort to anybody who wants to have a great time in Cancun.

We'll be back!

We were there specifically for a Dr Joe Dispenza Conference for the first week and relaxation for the second week. We loved it, very comfortable hotel, food is excellent, a la carte restaurants tasty and good variety. Lots of shops if you like to bring back souvenirs, we love the sports bar where you can get food 24hrs in the mall on site. Fun beach has rocks but we made it work, not a concern. Pool is very large. It is really worth to go to the adjacent hotel Barcelo Beach, Caribe, Palace and Riviera to see the difference. Beautiful view of the water and resort from the upper lobby at the Palace. Hard ice cream at the "Barcelo Beach" buffet. Extremelly friendly staff who aim to please and satisfy the clients. First night the AC was loud and they came and fixed it the next day. The shower valve was defective and would take a while to stay in place, causing the release of the spray to be inconsistent; it needed patience and innovation on our part. Hopefully they will get it fix, it needs to be replace. We love this resort and we'll be back soon.

Disappointed in Accomodation … I would return but to a different hotel in the resort!

This is my second visit to this resort, the last time being in 2002. Naturally it has grown ++. We thought we were in heaven then & we’re very excited to return! We were assigned rooms in what seemed to be the oldest hotel in the resort - Barcelo Beach Hotel. Our room smelled of mold (visible in the bathroom on the bath mat, shower walls & shower ceiling. The a/c unit was extremely loud as well. We asked daily x 3 days to be moved to a different room, while being told we were “on the list” t [... read more]hen finally that we would not be moved as the hotel was “full”. Upon speaking with a manager, we were assigned another room - on the same floor as my parents & with a King bed, as originally requested … we were moved to a different floor, with 2 queen beds! The food was not as good as in the other hotels in the resort. The pool was lovely, the serving staff were great, the beach was wonderful.

Beautiful and amazing resort

Beach is absolutely gorgeous. Grounds are immaculate. Buffet food is varied and very good. Lots of free amenities. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy check in and check out. For the first time ever, this a resort I would definitely go back to and would recommend to others.

Pleasant stay at Barceló Maya Tropical

We are two couples who stayed at the Barcelo Maya Tropical for two weeks in February. We enjoyed the variety and quality of the food at both the buffet restaurants and the a la cartes, although it was difficult getting reservations at the latter for the first few days. However some of the drinks at the pool bar were poor quality. The rooms we had were spacious and clean and the grounds very well maintained. We made extensive use of the massive fitness facility. The beach is nice although somewha [... read more]t rocky in spots. The pools are huge and for the little ones, the water parks looked well designed. Even though the resort is very large we found it easy to navigate and get around to the restaurants located throughout the complex. We found the staff very friendly overall. We found it good value for money and would return.

Amazing Resort

It was our first time to Mexico, the resort was amazing. The foods was good and we really enjoyed our sit down meals, our chef Sandra made our experience at the Japanese restaurant in Colonial a memorable evening. The service at Sante Fae at the Tropical was great, our server Jorge always had a smile and made our evening. Charo our pool server at the Tropical always had a smile and there to take our drink orders when we needed something. There was so lots to do at the resorts, snorkeling off the beach by the Maya Palace with the sea turtles, catamaran rides, dolphin shows and swimming with the dolphins. Mini market, Maya Mall and Disco.

Amazing resort

The place is massive so make sure you bring some good walking shoes. The people (Staff) were extremely accommodating and pleasant all the time. We booked and went to the Capri, Santa Fa & Trattoria restaurants were all very good and included. We eat most breakfasts at the Mariachi snack bar. They (were near the pools and our room) and had an excellent assortment all was very good. Most evenings we went to Strikers bowling alley & bar the food there was also excellent! The staff was am [... read more]azing! There was not as big of an assortment as the Buffets, but still very good. During the day we spent @ poolside. You'll have to remember to get your towels out (on the loungers) early in the morning, but it seemed people did leave and there was usually a lounger or 2 to be found. People we talked to have been coming here and other Barcelo Resorts for years and love them. I would and have recommended this place to others. I'm SURE we will be back, if not to the Mayan Riviera to another Barcelo's resort
