Amazing resort....#1.

...been going for years. ....great staff, great service, great friends, great times.....always. This resort is a hidden gem....perfect...peaceful, relaxing.....is perfect. I enjoy playing music there as well. We have so many great people there. Cheers

Lovely Staff, Very clean, Beautiful location

This is our second visit. The fire ant infestation was awful. All around the pool deck and beach we were getting eaten alive. They do not spray for mosquitos so that was also a problem. Because of the two problems we will not return.

Lovely and Laid Back

Cute simple bungalows right in the beach with great snorkelling. Surprisingly good food for Cuba which has usually been problematic. Freshly grilled fish at every meal, fresh veggies, rice and beans, pretty good deserts, very nice home baked bread. Yordy especially but all very nice genuinely kind staff. That was sweet. The grounds are spread out and very beautiful. Havana and Varadero nightlife are both an hour away. Highly recommend this resort if you are not too picky and not expecting anything fancy. The entire beach is a coral reef so shallow swimming for kids just in a small area. I don’t go in the pool because I’m more into the beach and great snorkelling. I also had a massage that was fantastic for only 20 CUC plus a tip. I will go back.

A little gem of a resort.

The grounds are beautiful. Not a large resort. No long walks to beach, pool or buffets. Stayed in a bungalow beach front. Amazingly beautiful to wake up to view of beach just steps away. Snorkeling is fantastic right off the beach. Many areas for non snorkelers to enjoy sand bottom aqua sea water to relax in. Two pools without swim up bars. Pool bar on deck side. Cabs and buses are available if you would like to venture out. Both towns an hour away from resort. Cuban families enjoy vacationing here. They are all so nice. Food not so good but always something for meat eaters and vegetarians. Rooms out dated but clean. No fresh pool towels available all week. Many people return to this resort due to the beauty and peaceful environment. Average age was 50 and older. Not a party place for the young. Easy walking for elderly. Ramps everywhere to all builds and into some bungalows if stairs are a concern. Small step over into stand up shower with Handel to hold on to.

Family resort

Lovely beach but in May there are biting insects so take repellent. Buffet is small and poorly laid out. There isn't much room and when I was there people kept butting in line and grabbing food. There were many flies on the food as well. The dining room was often very cold. Bungalows are the better choice for a room. The maid service we had was excellent. Wifi is available for a cost and you need to give a deposit of 10 cuc for a beach towel. We found that the lobby bar was better than the pool  [... read more]bar. The entertainment in May consisted of singers and started at 9:30 pm.

Great Resort

This was our first time in Cuba and we loved VIllas Jibacoa. It is a low key relaxing resort. The food would be the only downside but we found it good enough and never went hungry. Great friendly staff.

Good and bad

Where to start Rooms: first room 87 no hot water , to no water to smell of sewage . Got a new room, 30 bungalow, clean, beds are not pillow top but they were not too bad. Did bring our own pillows good thing as there's are like pancakes. Beach: private yes, most beach chairs broken, fairly clean of garbage, lots of seaweed. Snorkeling amazing! Went out with the resort lifeguards, they know the spots and what dangers to avoid. Pool: clean, ok size, lots of chairs, bar, snack shack. Food: [... read more] for the most part sucked. Rice, rice, more rice, fish, sloppy fish, mystery meat, lots of bread, mushy pasta, mango for fruit. Not much for veggies. Desserts varied some good some really bad. Breakfast was probably the best meal of the day. And at that needed help. Bring your own ketchup they have none! Good restaurant at the top of the hill from the resort walking distance.12.50 for lobster dinner. Very good! Resort: staff very friendly and helpful, for the most part the resort was clean. Maintenance men seemed to always be fixing something or cleaning up. Dogs and cats at resort looking to get fed. There harmless and cute. Please feed them! Entertainment: Bbq, horse show from the local horesmen, yoga, dance lessons, night shows sucked more like karaoke. Was not crowded resort if you wanted to be alone there was space to do so. Mario is the go to guy. He can help you with all your needs. Location: an hour 10 from havana, hour and a half from varadaro. Few towns in between cab needed to get there. There crazy drivers to. Over all: not a bad stay. Weather was good, drinks were cold i would not go back for a week but perhaps 3 days. If you book Any excursions with the air transit rep be VERY specific as to want you want. She booked us swimming with the dolphins and wet got ripped. Not even 10 min in the water with them. She is not very knowledgeable.

Great Vacation Spot.

The reviews are right on for the most part. The Beach is great with lots of shade and privacy unlike other resorts. The water has some great colours with interesting reefs to see a variety of fish. I saw lots of fish and even a sting ray the two time I went out. The Beach bar staff (Alejandro and Leo) were great and we talked to them a lot. Maybe some reasons that I don't know). Love the action that the beach had with the para-gliding, kite boarding, fishermen, and perfect sunrises. The rooms were basic and good enough. Love the water pressure and I have never had to be careful about how hot the water is. Usually there is never enough hot water let alone too hot of water. Air conditioning was working great too. The buffet. The breakfast was awesome. The best meal by far. The lunch was ok but we mostly went to the snack bar and ate the pizzas (which would be much better with ham on them) but they were delicious. The ham and cheese and burgers were very tasty as well. Supper was ok. Rice was great but I am not a huge fan of beef liver which was the only beef they had. There was pork most days and fish and chicken everyday which was tasty. The bread was the best tasting bread I have ever had anywhere. Recommend more plantain chips. All in all no one goes to Cuba for the food but no one normal goes hungry either. They do need a better layout for the buffet line though as it all clogs up at the grill. Also put the butter by the bread. The location is the best. Havana is only an hour away and Eddy Garcia was an awesome tour guide. He drove us all over and walked us through Old Havana telling us all of the information we could hear of all the locations and buildings. We booked him through Anne Marie the Air Transat rep. Nice restored Bel Air for the day. To top it off he took us to a hilltop restaurant where we could overlook a beach town and get some awesome views before heading back. Overall this was our best stay in Cuba by far. If you are going for the warm weather and nice scenery this is the place. If you are going for the food and amenities this is not the place for you. We will be back if the price is right but this is better than Cayo Santa Maria for beauty and not food.

Such a great place!

This resort is a definite 3 star! But!!!....... It's the best 3 star we have ever stayed at! We loved the grounds so so much! The bungalow was out dated but always so clean and the hottest water ever!! A bottle of rum and cigar was waiting for us ! What a treat!! ..the beach was the best! We have been all over Cuba and this was by far the best beach! With so much space to spread out and never had to worry about waking up early to grab a chair! We were never hungry!!! The beautiful ppl.. not all were super friendly though most were great! We love getting to know some of the bar tenders and staff!! We did some excursions .. Beautiful Resort

We thought that the grounds were absolutely beautiful. The staff take great pride in their resort. The grounds are nicely spread out with lovely gardens, planters and landscaping. There are lots of different kinds of trees along the beach for extra shade. We enjoyed lots of singing birds particularly the yellow canaries. The snorkeling was excellent right from the beach. Wonderful, quiet resort!

Our fourth visit and we will return!! Beautiful beach, so quiet! Great snorkelling! We are plant based and the food was wonderful!!! Had it covered at every meal!! Staff are all so personable. A Spanish coffee after dinner each night topped it off!!!

Amazing resort

We have been at this resort 22 times. The grounds are simply beautiful, the people are amazing, the food is good you will never go hungry, the snorkeling is one of the best spots I have ever done, ready to book again for next year.

10 Times and Will Return

Every year we have gone we notice those little improvements that make this resort better and better. Gardeners work very hard to make it spotless. Alot of painting to the outside has been done in the past year. Rooms have been updated. BUT it continues to be the staff that puts this resort at the top of the list.

Simple with the best staff

The grounds are kept immaculate, and all staff at the resort do their best with the limited resources they have. This is not party central, but more a quiet, relaxing resort with wonderful snorkeling, and is located ideally half way between varadero and Havana. The rooms are dated, but cleaned daily, and the food is simple fare, but with a realistic expectation of a 3 star in cuba, you will never go hungry. The Spanish Coffee is their signature drink and is to die for

Love this place

It was my third visit, as with so many people they go back over and over because it's so amazing. The staff truly make the place, they're all so kind. The snorkeling and diving off the beach are fantastic, the beach is beautiful, grounds are immaculate. The food is honestly very good for Cuba. I never lacked for options of delicious food. At a dinner held weekly for repeat guests, we were told the resort was at full capacity of 300. 211 were filled by Canadians, and 98 were repeat guests. Beautiful family resort

This was our second trip to villa Jibacoa , March 2018 & March 2019 we stayed for 7 nights in the bungalow both trips. We love the beautiful natural surrounding, excellent snorkeling and swimming, very friendly staff and service. We loved every day of the trip and hope to stay longer than 7 nights next time.

Ok resort

Very nice layout of resort, rooms kept nice and clean, service is great in most areas staff very friendly, however food is very basic never hot always cool very poor selection of fruits and never heard of Bacon they can definitely improve on proper service in the buffet area.

Beautiful Resort

This was my first time every to go away. Was disappointed at the location of my room. It faced the mountain. Would have liked to been able to see the grounds and Ocean. Was too spaced out from Lobby ,Buffett, Ocean and pool. There was no night life at the pool where the bar is. We were a group of 6 and we were to spread out. Rooms not close to each other. Enjoyed the snorkelling. To many locals at the pool.

Very nice, quit resort

This was our 7th time visiting Cuba. I ❤️🇨🇺! I find the landscape and beaches beautiful. This resort is very authentic Cuba. A big hill to climb, a beautiful beach and great snorkelling. He also took the time to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed while we were there. On our day trip we had the extreme pleasure of having Judy❤️❤️ as our tour guide and Alex as our driver. 120 cuc’s for the whole day for 6 of us! I’m sure Judy will never forget that trip! Lol! Annabell in the snack bar/ À la cart was amazing! She always had a smile. Rudy at the lobby bar really stands out. Big smile, always friendly and really knows how to shake a drink! The resort and rooms are very clean. Modern toilets. The hottest water we have ever had. I chose this resort because of the reviews staying how friendly everyone was and the coral reef. I wasn’t disappointed. It was a bit to quite for us. When we go to a resort we really enjoy dancing at night but not nightly shows. There was no music or dancing. Very few people in the lobby after dinner and no one at the pool bar after dinner. My 1 major complaint was that you HAD to buy beer in the lobby unless it was after 1am. In a all inclusive I would expect domestic beer, or at least draft, in both bars.

Great Staff nice resort

We went to Villa Tropico Jibacoa as we really enjoy the smaller resorts. The Staff are all extremely friendly and service was great. Saturday to Wednesday where definitely our most enjoyable at this resort. I say this as Wednesday arrived there where an extreme amount of locals as it seemed staying at the resort and it was next to impossible to get any seats around the pool. I love Cuba and its people, but I have never heard so much yelling?screaming being done which made it hard to relax around [... read more] the pool when we did get spot. Most of all the cups being left around and in the pool from the drinks was I found very dirty and disrespectful to the staff and the other travelers. Bless the heart of a lovely lady from Halifax who would often go around and clean them up. We are there on Vacation, but this doesn't mean we want to live like pigs. Again this is not on the staff as I said they all work very hard. You are Adults and should know how to clean up after yourself. That is my little rant on that. To the Staff all of you, thank you for your service and friendships as we truly did feel we made some new friends and family. Some musical entertainment (DJ) in the lobby bar or at the pool in the evening for dancing would also be a nice addition.
