Fantastic resot

Everything was so great, the grounds are amazing. They are so quiet and relaxing for walking. Do not realize how many buildings and vastness of the grounds as the gardens so lush and maintained. Food was great with all the restaurants open in the evening. No buffets at night. Room service also available. Lobster available everyday for prestige category and very tasty

Food was amazing!! Drinks are top shelf Staff are hard working and extremely helpful Went about five years ago and again last week Will not wait another five years to return Fun place .................

Exellent resort

this resort was big got lost alot but very clean and the worker were very polite. the resort was a little pricey for mexico but we had what we needed. i would recomend this resort to anyone going to mexico. the only draw back was the corruption i seen at the airport where a couple had to give money to official to get their pass ports back.

Great Resort

Have nothing to say bad about this resort. After 20+ years of visiting have found a resort that provides everything we are looking for. Exceptional customer service, beautiful beach, and great food. This is my fifth visit and will be back.

What's not to like !

Third time in Golden. Have noticed many improvements on site since last time there in 2016. It's nice to see that the property is so well maintained and is improving and not sliding back as so many do. The quality of the food is outstanding in each restaurant including the desserts and pastries. I must say that it is a bonus that the concierges are so friendly especially Cynthia in building 8 who was there to serve our wants and needs and not there to sell you a time share as so many other 5 [... read more] star resorts in the Mayan Riviera do. The site is large enough that we had no need to look for entertainment off sight which was important to us to feel secure while visiting in the Mayan Riviera. Let us not to forget to mention the daily programs such as yoga,palates,water aerobics, water bike exercises,the nightly entertainment in bars and the outdoor plaza and then to top it of the shows in the theater.

A very nice resort

Ladies and Gentlemen: This was our fourth - two week - visit to Valentine Imperial Maya. We obviously like the resort or we would not have returned for the fourth year in a row. We enjoy your restaurants, beautifully appointed lobby and grounds, our room was kept clean and fresh, staff at resort are friendly and helpful. We had an unfortunate situation when my husband had to pay a visit to your on-site doctor. The doctor diagnosed him with bacterial bronchitis, dispensed an injection, [... read more] antibiotics and cough syrup. The visit took no longer than 40 minutes and the bill came to $9,100.00 Pesos. Although my husband's condition improved greatly, we were quite shocked at the high cost - considering the time spent and the medication dispensed. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have private insurance at home. On our first two visits (4 weeks in total) we were not aware of the Loyalty program available. It certainly was not mentioned to us on check-in, check-out or during our stay. We only found out about it on our third visit (Jan/19) and were rewarded for that particular stay. Although we asked to be retroactively 'rewarded' for our previous four weeks with Valentine we were told that this would not be possible. Quite disappointing really since we have obviously been 'loyal' customers for all 4 of our stays and not only the last 2. BTW - after our first visit we recommended your resort to our friends and they have now visited your resort three times. If you publish this review please delete my email. Thank you. Eva.

Returned visitors

We have been at this resort about 5 years ago and had such a great time we went back. The house band is amazing and there is always something going on at night which we love, as well as more quite places you can spend your night like the piano lounge which we also love. Like who wants to be on a schedule on vacation :) The only things this resort lacks in is the view from your room, the rooms themselves are beautiful however i have yet to find a room that has a nice view even the beach rooms lack the ocean view. The water was pretty rough when we were there, we did not spend much time at the beach.

Fourth Visit

We and our friends have visited Valentin resort for the past four years and are still impressed with the resort. The food is good and there is plenty of various restaurants to choose from. The grounds are kept very clean and the layout of the resort is so well thought out that you can easily walk to pools, the beach and restaurants.

Valentin going downhill!!

The hotel grounds were beautiful, stunning. The staff were extremely accommodating. The quality of food has dropped dramatically as has the availability of food. There is no evening buffet, the resort advertises no Reservations required at Al La Carte Restaurants - that is not correct. They may not take reservations but it is highly unlikely you will be seated if you do not go and put your name on a waiting list long before you are ready to eat - putting your name on a waiting list - is [... read more] that not a Reservation??? We went for dinner at 7 pm and by 9 pm had not eaten nor were we able to be placed on a Waiting List at 3 of the restaurants. We ate Room Service two evenings and because of that, I will not be returning. It is not acceptable. The quality of the food also was not as it had been. I was a repeat visitor and was very disappointed. The Buffet was actually the best place to eat and that was closed in the evenings!!! Breakfast was great. The beach was beautiful but the wind was so high, you could not comfortably sit on the beach and if you sat on the 'Bali Beds', you were rushed off as these were for the Privilege Guests. The resort was half full, there were dozens of vacant beds all day long but if you sat there, you were told to pay $42.00. I am a traveler, I have been to the Mayan over a dozen times but am so done with it. Playa del Carmen is chaotic, far too touristy, far too crowded, the vendors are far too pushy. Crime on the Mayan has escalated exponentially in five years. I checked local newspapers daily and daily there was either an accident or a shooting on the Tulum corridor (road from Cancun to Tulum). Shootings, drug busts, tourists hurt in accidents - all daily occurrences. So that is my review of the Valentin and the Playa del Carmen area. The same for Cancun.

Great resort, amazing service!

We stayed at VIM from January 2-9 2020. A This was our first visit to Mexico, but we have been to Cuba many times, the Dominican twice and Antigua a couple of times. We are a married couple in our mid 30’s. The age range here is vast. No certain age range seemed to dominate. There were young, old and everyone in between. There is only a thin curtain that you can see through separating the bathroom from the bedroom area. This wasn’t a problem for us. The grounds are stunning and amazingly well kept. Absolutely love the “jungle” feel of this resort. The main pool is HUGE. The towel game is the same here as anywhere. I was usually up around 8am and there was always lots of chairs to choose from at the pool (sun or shade). 2 mornings they did come around and take all of the towels off of the saved chairs though. The beach was beautiful. White sand, turquoise water. It was rough most days because it was quite windy. But the waves were fun. There was zero seaweed. Even without seaweed, a tractor still cane every morning and groomed the sand. Excellent beach volleyball court on the beach (although the net is a bit high, likely to prevent spiking). The service here is what really stands out. It doesn’t matter what room type you are in or if you tip or not, the service here is amazing. There are no “2nd class citizens”. The waiters/waitresses are constantly walking by asking you if you want drinks at the pool and at the beach. At the restaurants, I always had a fresh drink before mine was empty and they were very attentive to us. The food was really good. We ate at Taman Sari (Indonesian), Ginger (Japanese), L’Alsace (French) and L’Olivio (Italian) and La Havienda (Mexican). Our favourites were the Indonesian and Japanese. Italian and Mexican were also really good. The French was good, but not stand out. I would skip the buffet they have with the show. We did not enjoy it very much. For lunch we had the buffet but were not too impressed. We loved the food they had at the main pool every day. The tacos are incredible!! The main pool is basically split into 2 sides - the quiet side and the party side. We opted for the party side - music playing, activities going on, lots of people at the swim up bar having a great time!! I usually opt for the beach, but loved this pool. Always something to do. There is also the small silver pool and the golden pool (lazy river) that are both VERY quiet if you want total relaxation. The GO team was awesome. Loved playing Beach volleyball twice a day!! They would leave us the ball so that we could keep playing passed the allotted time. They were always walking around getting people to participate and announcing the activities at the main pool. A shout out to Memo and Jesus!!! The nightlife here is good. There is usually live music in the square before the show and also after the show. The imperial band is really good. We only saw a couple shows - they were ok. The Michael Jackson show was fantastic and I highly recommend not missing it. The resort was close to capacity, yet it never felt crowded or busy during the day or at night. Don Miguel’s was great for a before and after dinner drink. Some very cool drinks are made here. The martini bar outside the lobby was also good. The sports bar had playoff football on and it was packed. An excellent atmosphere for the games for sure!!! The one negative that stands out is the Coffee. It needs improvement. There are besides so machines in every room and in the lobby, but the coffee isn’t great. Cappuccino from the martini bar in the morning was good, especially with a shot of 1921 in it. But we love our morning coffee and were a bit sissPoibted by it. I hope that they seriously consider adding a coffee shop to this resort, that would make it perfect!! There are too many amazing things about this resort to let the sub par coffee bother us though. A lot of people we talked to that have been to Mexico multiple times said this is their favourite resort. This was our first trip to Mexico and would absolutely return to the awesome resort.

Well needed pampering

This was our second stay at VIM and it did not disappoint. The staff took excellent care of us and were always friendly and were always asking if you needed anything. The rooms are a little dated but always clean and everything worked. The beach was clean with no seaweed. The food was excellent. Our favourite restaurant was the French.

Great resort and great service at Valentine Imperial Maya!

The resort is absolutely clean and service is great. The rooms are cleaned twice a day and everything replenished regularly. Staff take care of the environment and collects all the recycling items and look after garden, pool and beach. The morning breakfast buffet is excellent with the choice of food, fresh fruits, berries and vegetables. The a-la-cart dinning restaurants are well organized and provide great choice of meat, fish and various international cosine dishes. You can not be hungry here [... read more]! The alcohol drinks are of great verity and are served in a proper glassware which make you feel good. The entertainment at night is good.

Not disappointed

Spent the New Year Hollidays at the Valentin Imperial. Building 4 was at a perfect location, beside a pool, close to beach and main building. Service is good and professional. Best food, Mexican Restaurant for sure. Great taste, big portions and great service. We also tried all the restaurants and found the Indonesian to be the least attractive. Depending on your taste. It is only one negative:The chair game...the management has to deal with this ASAP. We witnessed couple of occasions were people almost trow punches.

Awesome Resort!

Beautiful resort with well planned and landscaped pathways right down to the speakers disguised as rocks. Hotel buildings were only three stories high and hidden from view by lush, natural landscaping. The beach area was long with many loungers and the best bartenders around; the next pina colada was only moments away. Guest rooms were spacious, comfortable and extremely clean. Amazing Resort!

Great food, fantastic rooms, incredible pools and perfect beach! Staff were very friendly! We were at the resort celebrating 30th anniversary and had champagne and a special dessert in the room acknowledging the event. The bed was decorated with swans and rose petals. It was our second time at this resort and we will return again in the future.

Excellent resort!

Grounds were beautiful, excellent service, great food. Lots of stuff to do- pool activities, water games, beach sports. Beach was amazing- clear water, clean beachfront. Only complaint was that poolside and beachside chairs were all taken early morning, even though it’s a resort policy you can’t reserve/hold seats

Best resort ever

VIM has a way of making their guests feel like this is their second home. From the moment you arrive and are welcomed with the beautiful aroma of the Lobby, and the staff that always have a smile on their face, you know you have come to appreciate this piece of paradise. ❤😍🌴🍹👙❤

Excellent hotel and vacation

The hotel and grounds are exceptionally well maintained. Staff were excellent and extremely professional and friendly. The food was excellent in main dinning rooms and restaurants. Mexican Night was delicious. Shows were very good.

Honeymoon destination

The Resort is neatly manicured and landscaped from the lobby to the beach. Restaurants are well placed within around the main area except for the beach restaurant. We stayed at Emerald bldg which is situated by oceanfront where it will provide you with a walk out to your own private beach, with a private bar. You will also get a walk in jacuzzi overlooking the beach. They will cater to everything you need and want. Service is top notch. The whole resort is eco friendly paper straws everywhere wh [... read more]ich really says something.This the only resort I know that you don't have to make reservation to specialty restos except for Hibachi restaurant. From Emerald to main area, is only 10 min walk- tops. Its a Huge resort. My favourite from all these is that when you do excursions you are the first to be dropped off when you had a long day from excursion, you will definitely appreciate this. I think its because it's in the middle of Mayan riviera The only bad thing is my wife and I got food poisoning for 3 days coming back from Canada which what we called Mexican bug. That's all. Enjoy!!
