Well worth going

Completely impressed with the staff and the buffet meals, bar staff friendly and courteous. Very clean, very organized and well run. Only disappointment was the restaurants, steakhouse and Asian. Better off going to the buffet which was completely surprising since all other aspects of the hotel were of such better quality. I would not hesitate to go back.

Wonderful Place

Considering that the resort had not been upgraded for over 10 years, it is a very nice and clean place to go. Staff is wonderful, food is great and hotel overall is very clean and well kept. Big resort but it doesn't feel big. Not so good for single people. Very family oriented. The negative is that there are not enough chairs by the pool side or beach to accommodate all of the guests. Amazing resort!

Great resort, good food, good drinks! Awesome beach! Only suggestion is that the hotel entertainment could use some improvement. Too repetitive. However, I must say that the local bands were really good. They had everyone on the dance floor! Tours were good also. Puerto Vallarta tour was fun and educational. Great way to sample tequila! And, on a final note, I would highly recommend Rhythm of the Night! Amazing show and dinner, as well as the entertainment on the boat. All in all, great trip!

Riu Vallarta

I would recommend this resort to anyone. The place is very clean the staff very friendly and the food was excellent. Weather and the beaches were awesome. Lots to do everyday. Met lots of really friendly people from England

Fantastic holiday resort!

We just returned from 2 wonderful weeks at the Riu Vallarta. We had perfect weather and the resort staff and facilities were wonderful! We found the check in went VERY fast - only a couple minutes and we were off to our room to freshen up before dinner. The front desk staff we welcoming and helpful. We loved the food - we were able to eat several times at each of the a le carte restaurants and really loved each one! They are each very different but delicious! The staff is awesome - guys serving drinks at the beach would run and get whatever we asked for - and I mean 'run'! They were so willing to serve us! The towel staff and pool staff as well were fun, happy and just added to the great time we had! Our room was great - we faced the ocean so watched the sunset from our balcony every night. All in all ... We want to go back tomorrow!

Riu Vallarta Dec. 2015

The hotel is getting old and it's showing. We paid for a junior suite and the room we got was bad. Dirty linen, rock hard bed and a tub we were going to fall through. People and food really good though. Because we went during Christmas and paid a higher price, we felt like the hotel didn't reflect the price.

Very nice family resort

The good: This hotel is huge and well maintained. Staff are well trained and friendly. Our room is large with a King size bed. We also requested for a crib for our two years old son which was great! The main buffet has lots of options and good and plenty. There is also a second smaller buffet by the beach(Flamingo) which opens all day for a quick bite. Cappuccino at the lobby bar is very good. It has two pools, one for the kids. Entertainment is great with kids programs every night. It may be to [... read more]o loud and last too late into the night for some families, but it was find with us. After all, we are on vacation! The not so good: The beach is on the pacific ocean. It has lots waves all day. The water is murky, the sand is not white. If you like white sand, nice clear and calm water, this resort is not for you. There is not much around the resort to see. You need to take a taxi for 10 min. to go to the next small malls for shopping. And about an hour bus to go the downtown Pureto Vallarta which has a very nice board walk along the beach with restaurants and shopping. We too the local bus there which is much cheaper and better experience. Over all, it is a nice resort for family. I would recommend it.

Almost perfect

Run Vallarta is a beautiful resort. Very clean, food is exceptional, views beautiful. we probably won't be back only because there is no where to get away from the entertainment noise. the way the resort is designed almost every room has a view but the downfall to that is all rooms are on the courtyard. Music every night till 11 and pool entertainment most if the day.

Awesome resort environment

I enjoyed every thing about the resort. They out on a show every night and disco on site at the resort. The pool area was split in two sides where the kids pool on the right and adult pool with swim up bar to the left. The only thing lacking about the hotel in my opinion was there was no room service for food and the wifi was very bad in the rooms only worked in the lobby.

Decent place. 3 stars not 4.

We were promised free WIFI when we booked but they end up providing some very poor WIFI that barely connects and they tell you that you need to pay an additional ~$100 for a weeks WIFI. We never ended up getting it. There is no real after-hours food other than some old hamburgers and nachos sitting outside in the 24 hour sports bar all night. No room service. Other than that the food was decent and the cleaning crew was very nice. One of the ladies running the daily Ping Pong tournament had no idea what she was doing. The nightlife promotors were decent but you can probably get a much better deal going on your own. Not many servers during the day - you have to get your own drinks most of the time.

Great Resort!!

Buffet selection and quality was amazing. If you miss booking at the a la carte restaurants. You wont be disappointed to eat inthe buffet every day and night. It's that good. Clean room , great drinks and excellent beach

Wonderful experience

very clean, room comfortable, good variety of food, staff friendly just wish it was closer to Puerto Vallarta variety of activities and entertainment staff worked hard to engage all to participate without being intrusive

October Getaway

Overall the hotel is very clean and comfortable, the grounds are well maintained and the food was very tasty. There were times when the Flamingo Restaurant had some difficulties with the soft ice cream machine and the cappucino maker, but they tried to fix it as quickly as possible. The downside was the volume level of the entertainment and the fact that the theatre was situated within the courtyard so that the sound had considerable reverb. The entertainment team was great. Nice place to spent your vacation.

A nice hotel, amazing view, excellent restaurants with delicious food and very good experience at the pool. My son (6y) became very confident with wether. The room very spatious but not very clean. One of the minus of this hotel is using their " brown towels".

Excellent Resort

Grounds where very nice and well kept, pools clean but a little small for the size of the hotel, Steak house was a nice change but average, Nirvana restaurant was good and would recommend, had a reservation at Sir George's but was not able to eat due to myself wearing dress shorts (make sure you bring long pants) rooms where clean and towels were plenty,beds where hard as a rock so make sure you ask for a mattress pad when you arrive, AC worked great in rooms 8075&8076, and where nice and quite  [... read more]away from the court side rooms,the in room bar and fridge were only stocked every second day but our liquor bottles were empty for 4 days and we had to call for replacement, the buffet was excellent and had many different choices for all to enjoy as we had breakfast lunch dinner there most of the time and service was great. P.s I have already recommended this hotel to a co worker and they are there now.

Wonderful experience at the Rui Vallarta

We can't say enough about the wonderful staff at the Rui Vallarta they where there to anticipate our every need. The rooms and common areas where kept very clean and because I like a soft bed the staff came to my room at 11 pm and put a matress topper on my bed after which I had a wonderful sleep the rest of my stay.The food was well presented and always plentiful I think my husband gained 5 lbs . Overall I can honestly say from the time I walked in to book our trip for four at trip central to the day we returned to Canada from Puerto Vallarta we had a great experience .

Awesome resort ....nothing but good times

first time staying at the riu and i was hooked .food was excellent as well as the service.rooms were clean and check in and out was a breeze.i visited the other riu in the area and it was amazing as well.i think two thumbs up on the riu chain

An amazing get-away!!!

This hotel is top notch!! The staff and amenities are incredible. My girlfriend and I had such a great holiday and only left the resort one time!! We enjoyed the vendors on the beach! I know most people complain about them but we had fun bargaining and visiting and buying!! Fernando in the sports bar makes the best Americanos!! Every morning! Woderful Holiday

We very much enjoyed our two week holidy at RIU Vallarta. This was our second visit to the hotel and we were not disaappointed. We had friends join us for the 2nd week and our request that their room be close to ours was acommocated. Buffet was terricic...disappointed with the Asian restaurant as it was buffet only. Staff Make this Resort

The hotel was very clean and the staff were extremely friendly. The beds were uncomfortable (hard & lumpy) but the pillows were great. Bed toppers (2" foamy) were available upon request (only found out at check out). The food was good and definitely worth going to the specialty restaurants - having to get up at 7:00 am to stand in line to make a dinner reservation was not fun but the cappuccino from the 24 hour sports bar made the wait tollerable.
