Excellent place

The food and hotel staff were amazing and I look forward to returning next year. I loved the a la carte restaurants and we always had chairs in the pool/beach areas. I totally recommend this hotel! Very impressed.

Amazing Resort

Very clean and well maintained resort. Food was excellent and you never had to wait for anything as there was plenty of staff working to make sure all food trays were always full. Large selection to choose from. We had breakfast at the buffet daily and found so much variety. Something for everyone. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Plenty of beach and pool chairs. Very Good Beach!!

The grounds were kept very clean. The variety of food was great as you had 4 different Barcelo hotel areas to choose from. The beach area was very large to walk, no worries with towels or lounge chairs. The room well, less désirable. Good guest services to help out!!

Perfect holiday

The Barcelo is a perfect holiday from start to finish!!! From the grounds to the room to the food to the activities to the nightlife!!! The beach is beautiful soft sand and turquoise water! All of the staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and valued!

Barcelo maya caribe beach

The hotel over all was good. Booking as a group was not good. We were the only ones in our group of 19 that was not in the same hotel as everone else. They were not accommodating when asked to be moved.

Nice resort

Very good resort. We liked the most walking on the long beach as well as within the resort. We stayed at the Maya Caribie. It is good but i wouldnt rate it as a 5 star. It is no more than a 4 star. it seemed to be an older resort. The bathroom was partially renovated which was nice. However, every thing else was ready to be updated to deserve a 5 star rating. It woulve been nice if: 1. The air condition can be adjusted from the room. The thermostat seemed not to work no matter on what degree [... read more] of temperature you would put it on, it would give a temperature that I would estimate to be 21-22C. That was a little chilli for us. So we opened the balcony door. We woke up with mesquitos bitting us in the middle of the night. Llet alone the noise coming from people retuning from the bars. It turned out the screen on the door was torn letting mesquitos in. 2. There were lots of food everywhere. Most of the people on the resort were from Canada and the USA. However, they didnt pay attention to the fact that Canada is multicultural and that there would be those who do not eat pork (example: Jews and muslims). Most of the meat dishes were pork or contained pork (e.g. beef and pork, chicken and and pork fahitas). There were some beef burgers and chicken at the snack bars. However the 4 coupons they gave us for the ala cart resturants were very good for dinner. 3. Sunwing airlines is terrible. I will never use them again.

Pretty much perfection!

The Barcelo may seem large but because it is made up by 5 smaller resorts put together, you have the benefits of accessing the other resorts' ammenities and the total beach is huge and offers different options from clear sand and water to coral for snorkeling. As well since it is in a cove, the water is somewhat calmer than more open areas. Beautiful grounds, cenotes to visit across the road, many activities at the resort made for an exceptional vacation. My son played volleyball everyday and we played tennis. Staff are kind and caring and hardworking. Unlike other resorts I never got the feeling any of the staff was looking for tips. And there was little to no waiting to get drinks and food. And unlike other Mexican resorts I've been too, this one I would like to visit again. The only downfall is the dolphinarium which is definitely unnecessary, sad and a black mark against an otherwise beautiful resort.

Beautiful resort!

This was my second time staying at the Barcelo Maya Caribe in Riviera Maya. The grounds and common areas of this resort are beautiful and well maintained. The beach is very nice and if any sargassum appears, they work hard to keep it cleared up. I loved that there were so many palm trees on the beach instead of man made palapas. The pools are a few steps from the beach. I never had a difficult time to get a lounger at either the beach or pool all week. There are many parts I keep disc [... read more]overing here. Mini golf, haunted house, bowling, wave runner, water parks...the list goes on. They are building a zipline course at the outter edge of the resort. The resort is quite large, but always walkable. They do have a bus to take you between the sections, but it really isn't necessary if you are able bodied. We ate at 4 of the ala cartes that we booked from our allowed ones, and paid to eat at the Brazilian restaurant (Braza). It was good, but I don't think it was any better than the restaurants we ate at for free. Enjoyed the swim up bar at the Caribe section, although we mainly were at the beach. Loved the bartenders in the Maya Mall bar. Jaguar disco was fairly busy a few of our nights, but a bit too much techno being played. Lovely sized disco with go-go dancers up high. The only downsides to this resort would be that they don't include unlimited wifi for a 5 star resort, and just find little places to skim a little off the top. They try to make you use a credit card for everything extra instead of being able to use cash, so if you use cash, expect it to take a long time to pay for things. The staff work very hard and are all very friendly. I highly recommend this resort for families or for a couple looking for a quieter stay. I would suggest it isn't ideal for singles as there really isn't a lot of night life. Overall a very good stay at a top quality hotel.

Barcelo Maya Caribe January 19 – 26, 2019 Best Trip Ever!!!

So not sure what went on with this trip, but all the planets sun and moon must have been in alignment as everything went just perfect for us. It all started for us on Sunday morning at 1.00am when we got to our hotel. We were served by David at front desk who was very friendly despite the hour. We inquired if our room was on the top level as requested and David told us unfortunately, they didn’t have anything higher up but he asked us to give him a minute and then said he was going to upgrad [... read more]e us to a VIP swimout suite because he wanted us to enjoy our vacation. We were of course blown away by this special service. David also arranged for Isaac (bell boy) to take our luggage to our room. Isaac got a golf cart loaded our luggage and drove us to the room and got us settled quickly. He showed us our room and our incredible swim out pool and Jacuzzi, what a room!!! Isaac was so nice and helpful and this in early morning hours. Because we got in so late we ordered room service the next morning. It was amazing, we ate out on our patio beside our swim out pool in total relaxation. Just heavenly. On Wednesday night the front desk manager Christian Romero called us to inquire about our stay and see if everything was satisfactory. He then suggested we should try the Premium Level for the last few days of our vacation. We went to the front desk to talk to him and he then told us he was going to upgrade us to the Privilege Level status and for the rest of our trip and we enjoyed amazing perks. Free Wi-Fi, 24 Hour room service, top shelf liquor etc. etc. Christian was so kind in doing this for us. This was our 3rd visit to the Caribe and our 9th to the Barcelo Maya resort complex. We have never been disappointed. And the friends we have recommended the Barcelo Resort to have enjoyed the same wonderful holiday. We really can’t say enough about the hotel and staff as they they’re all so friendly and accommodating. So many to thank such as Fernando and Mario at the Brasserie restaurant. Their service and attention is impeccable. Also, Jose at La Fuentes, so friendly and helpful and many, many more. This was our best trip ever all because of the wonderful staff at the Maya Caribe. We would highly recommend this resort and would go back in a heart beat.

Fantastic visit

Just got back from a 1 week visit to the Barcelo Maya Caribe Resort. We had a great time and would probably go back again. During the week we visited, the hotel was sold out because of a big concert/festival going on from Thursday to Sunday. The concert stage was set up at one end of the beach and the bands started playing from about 7-midnight. You could hear the music playing at the hotel, but it wasn't overly loud. The only drawback to having the concert going on was that the nightly en [... read more]tertainment got moved from the theatre to the Maya Mall for 3 nights which did not have great acoustics and therefore the the music/singing was uncomfortably loud and unfocussed. There weren't a lot of people in the audience because most of them were down at the concert. The great thing about this visit was that since everyone was at the concert, there was no issues with booking the a la carte restaurants at reasonable times! The a la carte restaurants were all great. We visited the Seafood, Italian, Steakhouse and Japanese restaurants. The buffet was like all other all inclusive resorts - a good selection and if you are not too picky, you could always find something to eat. We had some issues with the rooms (toilet leaking water, sink faucet was not tightened down so it was wiggly) and it took about 3 days to get it fixed, but Sunwing and the hotel was very good to deal with and in the end, Christian, the assistant manager, met with us and apologized in person and then upgraded us to the Premium level which gave us some extra perks that we appreciated! The resort itself is beautiful and very well kept. There were never any issues with getting loungers at the pool or the beach and they never ran out of towels. The fitness center and spa were beautiful and it was great having the Maya Mall on site. The venders are not too pushy so it was pleasant to walk around stalls. There is no casino at the hotel anymore, even though it is advertised in the brochures. All of the employees at the hotel were friendly and helpful. Shout out to our waiter Raquel Torrez Vidal and Roberto Olvera(manager) at the Traitoria Ristorante for making my birthday dinner extra special! Overall we had a wonderful visit! Beautiful resort

This resort is very well maintained and spotless. We stayed at the Caribe resort. No problem getting a spot at the pool so you do not have to worry about putting towels on the chair. Be prepared to walk as there are 5 resorts on the site. We stayed in a Premium room which had two couches in the room and a hot tub on our balcony. The shower had a rain forest and hand held shower heads. The Spanish a la carte was very disappointing. Husband ordered his steak medium well and it was raw...heard the  [... read more]same complaints from other guests. Japanese and Italian a la cartes were amazing. Buffet was always good as well. Drinks are plentiful and beach is beautiful. No problem getting chairs there either. Lots of activities around the pool and free access to kayaks, catamarans, water tricycles.

Everything you can want in one Resort

The resort is very beautiful with pools and bars located everywhere. Staff was always cleaning and you can tell by how well maintained the property is. The resort has it's own bus which works great for getting from one end to the other. The service team was rude ar the front door. The staff inside was decent but the food was disgusting and I personally was sick all night from it. Bar staff was great especially in the main lobby bar where we spent almost every night, Jaguar had some good vibes. The mall and the vendors were pretty good to have to souvenirs. The water in the pools was cold but i liked that as it was refreshing from the heat. The beach was well maintained and very little seaweed. The Buffets were all pretty standard but the good was pretty good for a resort buffet. Wifi worked everywhere on the resort. Bellhops were great getting us taxi service for our deep sea fishing excursion that we booked separately. A lot of things to do here with no shortage of food to be had.

Amazing Resort!!

Best Resort ever!! Awesome food and ambience!! Loved the whole trip. Highly recommend it. Best family resort. My son loved the pools and water parks. Everyone were friendly and always available at our service during our stay.

Not 5 Star rooms or service

Poor start, left waiting at Cancun airport by Sunwing for nearly 2 hours before transportation to resort arrived Requested two beds, as I was travelling with adult daughter, told two bed room not available, had I known that, I would never had booked the resort. Second day transferred to handicap accessible room with two beds, room very basic, shower and toilet not comfortable, door rotting leaving rot on shower floor. Food was good, nothing exceptional though Beach and pools were good, not c [... read more]rowded Service was fine, room/maid service missed one day Not a 5 Star experience as advertised, but managed to have an enjoyable time Would not return unless they could guarantee requested room in requested section of resort

Great Holiday

Beautifully kept grounds, clean room. Food and service in the buffet restaurants was fair but the a la carte was better. Pools were amazing, loved all the water fountains in the pools and around the entire resort.

Terrific resort

it was my first time in the Riviera Maya area and I can t thank enough Karol for recommending me that resort. The lobby s of all associated hotels are just incredible to look at and the upkeep of all the grounds are amazing.The beach are clean and you never get bothered by vendors all over the beach try to sell you things.The choice of all the a la carte restaurant are great and easy to book as well. You can go to the concierge office and book 2 or 3 days ahead with absolutely no issues.The buff [... read more]et are out of this world.The choices that you have for meats, pastas or if you are a vegetarian are out of this world.They even have all day the choice of having i believe they are call mimosa ( champagne/bubbly with orange juice) all day.The decor of each hotel are terrific and when you walk around at night time, well ! it takes on a total amazing experience with all the water pools and fontaines , it is just incredible.

Positive experience

We enjoyed our family vacation. It was clear that there were lots of opportunities to take part in a variety of activities and entertainment. The resort is large, it would have been nice to be treated to a short tour, especially since we were premium members. Brenda in the premium lounge was kind and helpful. The other girls barely raised their eyes at us when we walked inro the lounge. The kids club was really good. Jbovanni at the breakfast buffet was super kind and remembered our kids name im [... read more]mediately. Carlos was our chef at the teppanaki restaurant, he was excellent. We also went to santa fe and capri for dinner. Both servers were wonderful. Bc the resort was so big, we didn't feel the same personalized service as a premium member compared to other resorts. Yet i would still recommend barcelo maya to family and friends.

Beautiful resort

Barcelo is amazing resort with very clean grounds and the rooms are very clean also. Food was outstanding and a lot of variety.All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The entertainment wasn't that greatest. There wasn't any entertainment at night at the bars. At other resorts that I have been to there were always bands and singers in the lobby or at a bar. Other than that pools were amazing and beaches nice.

Amazing resort!

The resort was absolutely beautiful, the gym, the spa, the mall, the grounds,"I can go on", was immaculate and the food was great. The only downside I saw was the beach, it wasn't the greatest but with that said, it wasn't the fault of the resort. I will definitely travel to the Barcelo Maya again in the future. We had a great time.

Beautiful Resort 🏝

The place is very clean, they are constantly cleaning and painting. Beach is beautiful and the food is amazing, a big variety. A lot to do, you won’t be disappointed. The beach has reefs, rocks for nice pics or just nice white sand. If you do a la cartes, do Mexican Lindo and Kyoto. Food is amazing and at Kyoto you get a nice show too. All the employees are very friendly and Gladis and front desk always had a smile and helped us with anything.
