We found the resort to be one of the best we have been to. The grounds were well looked after. Rooms were large and modern. Lots to do from ocean, lazy river, pool and seeing the beautiful dolphins. Food and bar service was great. Miguel who served in the buffet room was an amazing server who looked after us at breakfast everyday. It was our pleasure to tip everyday our person who cleaned our room, all the servers who looked after us daily for food and drinks.

Awesome and meh
I love this resort. This was 2nd time, staff are amazing - so friendly and wonderful, love the beach, food is decent, my only complaint is room maintenance. We had a pipe burst at 1am, our room flooded and I slipped in water and broke my arm. From what I heard from other guests, this was not a rare occurrence. Having a broken arm on vacation sucks but I still love this resort and would come back.

Terrible experience
Where do we begin. Let’s start with this is my first survey I’ve ever done. After double digits trips to Mexico and all great experiences this one has to be the worst. First hotel I’ve been to that the stores and shops don’t except USD. I’m from Canada but have always travelled with US currency. Well not at the fabulous Grand Sirenis. Now let’s talk about the wonderful food. A different theme every night decor wise. Well decorated with the exact same choices as the night before. Fi[... read more]rst time since 2007 Resort food actually made me sick. 4 out of 6 travellers actually in our group. Pretty sad when you need to make egg salad sandwiches for breakfast because it’s hard to mess up boiled eggs. Was pretty excited about all the advertised activity’s for the kids though. Oh wait they were advertised and really didn’t happen. I’d rate this resort a solid 1-2 out of ten. Resort itself is beautiful. Beach is rough and rocky.

Fabulous for families
We were thrilled with how modern the room was, the service was great. The food wasn’t at par with what we are used to. But not far off. The entertainment was great along with the atmosphere. We were happy that it was family friendly although catered to adults alone. The beach was better then we anticipated. Loved seeing all of the fish right there !!! Would highly recommend. Would go back without any doubt. Thank you

Beautiful Resort
We have traveled to multiple destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico. This resort, although not our best, had a lot to offer. All rooms renovated, buffet food always hot and fresh, restaurants decent (Japanese excellent), grounds are beautiful with a relaxing vibe (surrounded by lush nature), water was rough for snorkeling while we were there but apparently very good, coffee shop and icecream shop were an added and delicious bonus. Most of all, the staff were friendly and helpful...always. [... read more]Only con would be the beach. It was rocky, as was the water. Still beautiful landscape though. We would highly recommend this resort.

Very good holiday
Feb 7 - 11, 2020....Approx 90 minutes from the Cancun airport. Once we got through the madness that was the international arrivals (several plane loads arrived at the same time!), the rest went smoothly.
Check in was quick and they were able to accomodate most of our room requests. Ended up close to the beach which was perfect.
Room - huge junior suite, ours had 2 double beds, third floor. At first glance it is shiny and perfect. Looking closer, you could see that it needed a bit of tlc as[... read more] there was some staining on the couch and chair fabrics and the window sheers needed a good clean. However, very good amenities provided like coffee maker, mini fridge with beer and pop, large jug of drinking water, iron and board, makeup mirror, hair dryer, etc. Large bathroom with whirlpool tub and the toilet was private in a watercloset.
Food - Buffets had lots of choices and pretty much everything we tried tasted great. The biggest issue was the buffet food temp was usually only barely lukewarm. A la Cartes... had Mexican, Thai and Japanese..... all were excellent food quality, at least to our taste. Also a beach buffet which we did not try except for the chicken wings which were really good.
Pools - did not go in or sit around as we prefer the beach but they looked good.
Beach - small with a lot of coral chunks so do bring water shoes and sandals for walking. We picked this hotel specifically for the snorkelling. Because of the rockiness and the reef areas this is known as an amazing off the beach snorkelling hotel.... unfortunately the weather did not cooperate as it was windy the whole time we were there and the visibility was very poor. Not the hotel's fault, just the luck of the draw and we lost!
Fun stuff - lots of wildlife - Coatis, iguanas, geckos, different birds, etc in a jungle setting. Awesome to see! The lazy river is a great feature. The night time shows are the best we have experienced at any AI resort as far as professionalism in dance and singers. Even though I have never been a Michael Jackson fan, I basically ignored the MJ actor/dancer and loved the dancers. Also saw the Lion King and Broadway shows. Very well done. There is a small Cenote on the property with a small Spider Monkey population.... magical! Please Do Not Feed The Monkeys.... there are signs and too many people ignore them. These are wild animals and feeding them not only presents risk to the humans, it can also be very harmful to the animals as they lose their natural fear of humans and we can kill them with kindness by feeding them foods that can potentially harm them as not what they find in the wild..... this includes bananas believe it or not.
Never had a problem getting sunbeds on the beach before 9am.
Overall a good hotel but is a bit tired and could use some work. Huge property so be prepared to do a lot of walking - one day we did 18,000 steps! We would go back but would have to be a better sale than what we paid this time and hopefully next time the ocean will be calmer so we can snorkel!
We rate it as a solid 4*

Resort Amazing!!! Fly with Air Transat or book through Trip Central probably not!!
Resort is amazing clean big and beautiful and great food. Recommended it totally. Flying with Air Transat or booking through trip central is very questionable. 9am depart from Toronto We were 1.5hr delay taking off when we arrived at the airport in Cancún or shuttle left with out us before we even got off the plane..oh wait we didn’t have a shuttle because who ever booked us,put us arriving in Cancún at 630pm which our arrival time was 115pm. After we approached the airport Air Transat rep i[... read more]n Cancún they told us the issue. They tried to get myself to pay $180us for a taxi to the resort. Told the hotel would refund us when we got there. Yah right!! After an hour of trying to figure something out and told the next shuttle would be 2hrs from then. We asked another shuttle from a different airline to give us a ride. Thankfully they did. Not a great start to our vacation! Once we arrived at the resort it was great. Till we talked to the trip rep at the resort which again said we weren’t on any paperwork to return. Uneasy feeling worrying is there going to a return shuttle! After checking twice and explaining our concerns they were able to set something up. Was a stress no one should have to worry about!

Outstanding Resort!
So much to do! We never left the resort and wished we had booked our stay for longer than a week. Staff were kind, happy and very attentive (to be honest, the best service we've had at any resort and we did not book as premium members). We travelled with our 7 year old and he was treated like a prince. The grounds are massive and gorgeously well kept. Rooms are spacious and luxurious. We explored and hiked through natural trails around the property. We discovered a cinote and an inlet where fre[... read more]shwater and salt water meet- was some of the best snorkeling we've ever experienced. The beach is not forever white sand, however has many entry points and tons of fish, turtles and sting rays to discover. Food and drinks were everywhere and staff were never too far away to refresh our beverages. Pools are massive and incredible! The lazy river was too fun...went on it several times each day! Only complaint is they need a beer trail for the float haha! Only resort we'd consider visiting more than once. Night shows are well done and disco is easy to get to. Sky bar has some talented evening entertainment and the entire resort is brightly lit up. We liked that there were so many options and if there was an evening you wanted to chill, the rooms are private and you don't feel you're in the middle of the party. Monkeys and wildlife are very exciting and loved visiting the dolphins. Was more we could have experienced ...never made it to the spa, didn't have a chance to try the biking or even see the other half of the resort! We have been home for only a few days and are already telling everyone we know that it's the most amazing resort they could choose to go to!

Love this resort!!
Hubby and I went to the grand sirenis for our 20th anniversary, it was awesome!! The staff was great! The hotel was very clean, the food was very good, the weather wasn’t great but that has nothing to do with the hotel, the beach is very rocky so bring water shoes, there are lots of fish right in the shallow water so snorkelling is great.

A happy vacation
Our family stayed in Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya last week. It was great. This is our first time to Mexico. Here are our reviews:
Pro:
1. Resort is nice and beautiful, service is excellent.
2. Pools are nice. Both the noisy pool and quiet pool are good for playing (noisy) or swimming (noisy and quiet), or just doing nothing. There are rest rooms and bars close to each pool, very convenient.
3. You can see lots of fish at the beach.
4. There are restaurants on the beach and by the pool, ve[... read more]ry convenient.
5. Sea weed isn't a problem, at least when we were there.
6. Main buffet restaurant is good.
Con:
1. Like many people mentioned, there are stones in the sand. Only a small part is powder sand beach. Need water shoes for sure.
2. We tried 3 A La Carte restaurants, Mexican, Mediterranean and Japanese, the Mexican is good, we are disappointed about the other two.

Ok resort
The best part of the resort were the animal friendly grounds. Lots of jungle like growth and lots of agouti, coatimundi, monkeys, and a healthy, controlled cat population.
Beach was very small and rocky. Difficult to find a place to sit . Lovely quiet pool.

The good and the bad
Rooms were big. Bed was really comfortable but pillows a bit too high which I’m not used to. All lower level doors should have flaps on the bottom to ensure hugs don’t get in with that gap. I have a bug on my night table when i woke up one morning so i jammed a towel each night thereafter. Room cleaning was good.
Free WI-FI which was great not to have and pay extra. Decent reception in rooms.
The room safe was also free of charge.
The coffee shop and ice cream parlour is awesome.
[... read more]
The pools were clean and we didn’t feel cramped even though the resort is HUGE. We didn’t have trouble getting chairs. Lazy river was cool.
A la cartes ; we tried the mexican. Didn’t like it. The steakhouse was decent but long wait time. The japanese was the best one of the best meals I’ve had.
Buffet......what can i say. Not a 5 star I’ll leave it at that.
Grounds well kept.
I didn’t like that they shoved us in the furthest building and tried to upsell our room to have a better location. They wanted 560$US for the upgrade. I declined. Midway through the stay they emailed a survey and wrote that the mexican restaurant was bad and the upsell for the building was revolting. They called back the next day and asked what was wrong with the restaurant. The 6th day they offered to move us and give us an extra restaurant but we had a reservation already and were leaving the next day......great coincidence. We declined as that would’ve been a hassle.
Be prepared to walk quite a bit..... it’s a really big resort... i can’t say that enough.
I would try another resort if I’m going back to mexico.

Hats off to the Grand Sirenis
For the moment that our bus stopped at the front of the lobby till the bus left 7 days later! The resort lived up to its rating. It was amazing and fun. The staff are friendly and kind. Mini Cooper and his side kick Zouhair rocked the activities at the pool. The kids had a great time! The buffet had a different theme every night. We booked at the restaurants but always ended up eating at the buffet because it was that good.

Almost perfect
We really loved our stay at grand sirenis. The rooms were large and clean and the bathrooms were incredible. The drinks were done with love. Good quality and real ingredients. The lazy river was a major plus too. The location is awesome as we were able to go to the ruins and cenotes on our own within a half hour. The spa was also very nice. We recommend if you stay here to try the water circuit.
I say the experience was almost perfect for the following reasons.
The beach was very small and mo[... read more]re than half of it was rocky... I recommend water shoes. The night time became repetitive and a little boring if you don’t want to go to the night entertainment or if you want to do something after the show there are no further activities other than the disco which sat empty except for a few kids. Even the sports bar had only 2 pool tables and they were always busy. They really need to have something else going on in terms of adult activity seeing as the pools and beach are no longer an option after 6. Either way we had a great time during the day. One thing I will note about the hotel that left us with a bad taste in our mouths was they kept leaving us notes on our door for a free gift. First it was an additional a la carte reservation which we ignored then a spa water circuit. The note said it was in exchange for 1hr and a half of our time. The concierge told us it was because they were celebrating their 10 years and it was strictly a promotional thing. So we thought, can’t hurt. 1 1/2 hrs ofmlistening to them talk and we get a spa circuit. I’m warning you. Whatever you do. Don’t accept any gifts from them. It’s not worth it. We received two phone calls from the concierge making sure we would show up... we were met by a sales man who had breakfast with us and tried to find out everything he could about us, our income, the types of travelers we were.... he showed us the presidential suites and started talking to us about a membership plan. The man was trying to sell us a timeshare. He took us to a room where other salesmen were working on other guests and after 3 hours we began to ask when it would be over. We wanted to enjoy the limited time we had left in the sun. He ignored the question. Then salesmen started standing up and announcing that their guests just bought memberships and the room started clapping. It felt gross to be honest. So we turned to him and told him that we weren’t interested and never were. We were promised a gift for listening to a 90min presentation and they already had us for 3 hours. So he nodded to a man across the room to take over. We told the next guy that we appreciated their efforts but we weren’t their demographic. He ignored the comment and started showing us things and saying “but I guess this isn’t for you because you don’t like Nice thingsâ€. So after the fourth time he said that sentence we stopped him and asked him what exactly he was trying to do. “When someone says no you must respect that. Now please let us out.†Then he got aggressive with us and started asking “yeah? Well then why did you come here? Why did you come to this resort if you hate it so much? If you’re so above it? Fine! Presentation over! It’s over!†But then he nodded to a third person who now took his place and wanted a quick word. We repeated that we wanted to be released now because it’s gone on too long and we didnt agree to do this for three hours, and we were not interested in their timeshare. She looked at us and said she worked directly for the owner and she needed to finish her part so just bare with it just a while longer... after, we had never been more relieved to be released from something, and couldn’t believe the extent of pushy, not to mention the sales tactic of offending our personal travel choices to “show us the lightâ€...I am still angry about it. We came back to our room to find a third note under our door letting us know that if we “changed our mind about joining the family they’d still be there†... ugh. I wish we hadn’t witnessed this or our thoughts would be “perfect place..And we highly recommend itâ€, but they showed us their motivations and weren’t even gracious about it. So point being is to enjoy it for what it is and do not accept gifts from the resort
