AMAZING RESORT!!!

This resort was spectacular. Not a single complaint. Servers were friendly, caring, fun, helpful. Beach was well taken care of. Food was very tasteful and different daily. Never got bored and lots to do. Only thing , not a complaint but just be Leary there is a "Royal Vacation" there, which we got sucked into …..timeshare type presentation. Don't acknowledge if your not interested. All in all ….. LOVE THIS RESORT and will definitely be back!!!

Still impressive

The grounds of the Princess resort are the nicest we have seen over the years that we have visited the Mayan Riviera. The food selection at the buffet restaurants has something super tasty for everyone whether you eat meat or are vegan, or.... Staff is very friendly, accommodating and helpful. Over the years I have gone with my mother, sister, husband and 4 adult children. They all look forward to going again!

Would not go back again. To many animals.

The hotel, grounds etc. are kept very clean. However, the beach is a mess. The water is brown for about 10 feet into the ocean. I heard it was the underground swamp draining into the ocean. Its smells. But the really bad thing about this resort is that there are Coaties (raccoons) everywhere, and they are very aggressive. They are in your beach bags and in your food. As for the front desk, very slow and not very helpful. Would I go back? Never.

Great resort but huge!

I loved this resort! Just note that it is really big. Some rooms are far (10 min walk to main lobby). The rooms are very spacious. I recommend upgrading to platinum for a private pool with cabanas, extra service perks, better drinks, a la carte meals every night etc.

Very large resort

This resort is not for anyone with mobility issues. With 2000 rooms it has an extreme amount of walking. Rooms are great, food less than great, beach pretty but has an odour due to the seaweed. Platinum area was worth the upgrade.

It was okay

The reviews for this hotel were so amazing that we had to check it out ourselves. When we arrived we were a bit disappointed, our room wasn’t ready and we were with our four month old daughter, we were the last to receive our room. As we waited in the lounge passing out. The hotel itself was just okay. Nothing too fancy. The nightly entertainment was awful. Going with a baby meant bedtime for us around 10pm ... nothing started til 9:30pm no shows no live music no entertainment at all. Very di [... read more]sappointing. The theatre had things but it was for toddlers and children. The food was nothing special either, same stuff every day. The restaurants were very cheap and very specific in what you can order. Anything else would cost you money and wasn’t included, wine as well. These may be petty complaints but I just wanted to let people know the truth. I still enjoyed my time with my family and had a great vacation. I don’t care about those things but my husband does and he was disappointed especially after reading all the reviews. Overall not too impressed. I’ve stayed at much better hotels :)

Amazing Resort and Wonderful Staff

This resort was everything we could imagine it to be. We loved every aspect! The rooms were always clean and restocked daily, the restaurants were delicious and had a nice selection to choose from (even vegetarian dishes) We stayed at Platinum Sunset and enjoyed having the platinum pool area to ourselves most of the week! The buffet sections were themed and yummy! The Spa Princess (massage and water circuit) was relaxing and so needed! We were very happy with how organized and easy it was to travel with Sunwing and Trip Central!

Good resort

It was my friend and I's first time at this hotel in Cancun and we liked it. Although the room and washroom could've used better lighting. You also have to go down to make dinner reservations before 4pm for the next day. When we called to make a reservation when we finally checked into our room and settled in, it had past 4pm already but luckily we got a walk in. Don't hesitate

Seriously, at this price point...you won't be disappointed. I took my 12yr daughter and 10yr son here in March of 2019. Best family vacation ever!! Panninis n fries from the sports-bar were soooo good. The ice cream bar.. Such a treat!!

Amazing experience !

I really like this resort. It is very clean and employees are very friendly. There are a variety of pools to choose from some have entertainment and others are quiet which gave us options on where to go. The food was amazing, so much to choose from and the buffet areas/snack areas were clean as well.

Grand Mexican Resort

Grand Sunset Princess is just that.....Grand. It had all you need in terms of pools, beaches, all you can eat food and drinks and great entertainers. Would definately recommend this resort the only thing I has a bit of issue with is the lack of sun shades. Many pools and chairs available but for the size of the resort very little shade. Beautiful Honeymoon Location

My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon here and loved it!! We had a Deluxe Swim Out Room and loved every minute of it. It was very close to a bar yet in our own, somewhat private area. The staff were all very friendly, making our first visit and all inclusive experience a very positive one. The food was scrumptious, buffets and a la cartes. The Princess Spa is definitely worth looking into, especially within the first 24 hours of your stay to get the discount; you will then have access to the [... read more] pools for the remainder of the day! Would highly recommend this resort to anyone, especially the swim out rooms!

Beautiful resort, uncaring management

If you go with no expectations, you won’t be disappointed. However, if you expect 5 star service at this 5 star hotel, you’re sure to come away disappointed. It was a constant battle trying to have my room cleaned, or getting decent food. Management made numerous promises but never followed through. The beach was disgraceful, & while I appreciate they can’t do anything about the water, very little was done to clean up the beach. The pools were overcrowded, & the water temperature in the po [... read more]ols was uncomfortably warm. It is a beautiful resort, but not worth the money. The a la carte restaurants were not good at all, all in all a terribly disappointing experience. The Sunwing reps were basically useless, & weren’t able to do anything about anything. The flight attendants did the bare minimum, mostly sitting in the forward galley gossiping. I came back more stressed than when I left.

Big and very well maintained

We had a very relaxing time at the Sunset Princess. Service was stellar, food was very good at the ala carte restaurants and there were plenty of activities. Would definatly go back. The seaweed issue at the beach was a bit of a problem but that was Mother Natures fault.

Fantastic

Everything about this resort was incredible.. the food ,entertainment and the staff were exceptional. We would return in a heartbeat.It was so clean and everything about it was amazing. From the time of booking until our departure from Mexico I cant say enough. We used sunwing and the reps on site were great ...right from landing to booking excursions everything ran very smooth

Absolutely Amazing

Grand Sunset Resort was amazing! Fresh sheets everyday 😊. First time on all my travels that has ever happened. Food was great the grounds were spectacular and the pools were kept super clean. The Chill Out section was the best.... they totally take care of you

Incredible resort very large with lots of marble floors buildings pools and grounds

A la cartes were easy to book, morning and lunch buffet on the Princess side closer to beach had really good food and service,The beach had a lot sea weed on it and in the water thigh deep a couple days The resort did try to collect it using a tractor and wagon unfortunately the water was very murky and unpleasant.Our son got bite/stung by something couldn’t see where your stepping which was worry some.We did see lots coatis,iguanas and monkeys around the resort. Beautiful Resort

This resort is beautiful and very large. My room was in the middle of the resort and it took me 1000 steps to get to the lobby or to the beach, for step fanatics this is the perfect resort. The beach area was a little less desirable as it was loaded with seaweed. The resort would try to clean the seaweed in the mornings but they never really had a handle on it. Staff said it was due to global warming and another staff said it was coming from Brazil. I also asked people at other resorts and they had the same problem, which they did. There are lots of pools on the resort so you have the choice of a busy or quiet pool. The food was good and always had something for everyone, a little disappointed there wasn't a taco hut on the resort being in Mexico and all. The buffet food and beach snack bar really cater to American food, authentic Mexican food is on Thursdays in the buffets, you don't want to miss. For your a la cart restaurant you need to visit Miso and do the teppanyaki grill you won't be disappointed. The Chill Out Grill is an extra charge but worth it if you want authentic Mexican food I would recommend going for the lunch.Staff are very friendly and not over bearing, single women don't have to worry about male staff hitting on them. Prices off the resort are the same as on the resort.

Great resort and trip.

This was a great trip. We both enjoyed the resort and the Mexican weather. The only complaint was Sunwing's planes. they are cramped and uncomfortable. For a fee, they provided extra services for girlfriend and her crutches. they did include a shopping excursion to Playa Del Carmen. We have already been to a distillery and a cigar factory, and jewelry shop. So we skipped it. There is a scheduled shuttle service to Playa Del Carmen and its right off the resort. When shopping in Playa Del  [... read more]Carmen. you should barter with the shops...even the big stores. I was able to barter for all kinds of stuff and I never paid the asking price. Compared to the prices of the resort, I was saving 30-50 %. The Sunwing bus ride from the airport to the resort was fun and educational. The tour guide was very well spoken and knowledgable of the area and resort. Sunwing did put on a good orientation meeting. the presenter was very good and offered plenty of good information. The Princes Resort was great. The grounds and rooms are kept impeccable. The food is second to none. We have been to Cuba and the DR. there is no comparison in the quality of the food. The A La Carts are great too. No stomach issues. not one. I can't say the same for Cuba. which I love to visit for the people and the weather. my girlfriend was on crutches for this trip. The staff couldn't do enough to help her. From the buffet staff to groundskeepers. everyone was asking her if they could do anything for her. It would take 2 days to get something fixed in Cuba. The bathroom light was out. I saw the repair guy in the hall and asked to have it fixed. He asked me to show him which light. he went out to his cart and got a ladder and a bulb and did it right on the spot. that is good service.

Such a beautiful resort

Everything was great, from the staff, to the food, to the service, the pools. I had such a blast and will definitely go back to that resort again. Their is so much to do and so much to see that only going once isn’t enough.
