Wonderful resort, as expected from IB!

Well maintained resort. Beautiful grounds. Lots of pool chairs with shade available. Nice to be able to access a la carte restaurants on demand. Upper deck lounge a nice option to sit and watch the wonderful sunset. Staff friendly and helpful. Resort great for those seeking a quiet experience. Would return and definitely recommend.

2nd visit- great resort!

Great resort! Travelled as family with a 2-year old. Amazing hard-working people, very friendly. The only issue I had was not too many vegetarian choices at the buffet. We had a standart room, bathroom was a bit small.

Outstanding resort

First let me thank Debbie from Trip Central for recommending this resort! She was amazing to work with and really took the time to find a resort that fit our needs. Well, all I can say is that our first trip to Mexico was amazing. We did have a few hiccups (more so surprises do our lack our knowledge) but nothing that we couldn’t handle. It was a beautiful resort the kids activities and pool were great we were there every day and the “big pool” was large enough we didn’t really get in anyone’s way. The service in general was great (although there were a few times it was slower but service in an individualized thing). The food was delicious…a large selection. here is an excellent variety with the 4 al a carte restaurants and the buffet.......the food was delicious.. We only ate at the Japanese (which was delicious) and the Steakhouse (soooo good). We receive awesome treatment and they do try to make everything so very convenient for you. In fact we are already planning for another trip to the Iberostar Playa Mita for next year and this time we're bring our entire family to enjoy such a beautiful place. Thank you for making our family vacation full on amazing memories!

Great PLace to Relax!

We really enjoyed our stay. The grounds are kept very clean. Even the washrooms by the pool are spotless.The staff are very friendly and have activities going everyday from 10 am until 4pm. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. We forgot to lock our safe and the maid had security come and lock it and left a card stating that some valuables were left out and security had to come and unlock our safe. The food in every restaurant was enjoyable and fresh. All a la cartes are good. The Mexican a [... read more] la carte was my least favorite but the atmosphere is fun. They do a flaming tequila over beef and the flaming Mexican coffee. The café for coffee was good. They changed the chairs all around the pool from beautiful padded chairs to mesh chairs. They weren't nearly as comfortable and the original chairs looked more high end. There was never a problem getting a chair or shade. The infinity pool is perfect for all ages and warm. The ride to the hotel was 40 mins but we went directly there with no stops. The beach is 4 stories down from the pool area and I felt it was too disconnected but there is bar service on the beach and its very quiet. Never a problem getting a chair and the venders on the beach are not pushy. Overall excellent place, secluded, quiet and very safe.

Beyond expectations!

This was an amazing place for a week. Clean, friendly, excellent food, great beach for walking, fabulous pool and not crowded. It was quiet, and we were able to enjoy without being hassled at the beach or the pool. Went to the shows most nights which were very professional and enjoyable. The restaurants were great other than we heard, the Pacific express (French) was terrible from kore than one person, so we cancelled and went twice to the Japanese which was fun and very tasty, and healthy!Trip  [... read more]Central was great to book with, we watched the price and booked a couple of weeks before we went. I made a mistake and was able to get hold of Lawrence who was extremely helpful and righted my wrong! Thus vacation was just what we needed. A must go to!

Very much enjoyed our stay here!

This is our third stay stay at an Iberostar resort (also stayed in Punta Cana twice) and it lived up to our high expectations. The staff were beyond excellent, from the concierges in 10 block (Candy and her associates), to the dining staff, and everyone from maids to gardeners was always quick to greet everyone. I have to mention especially the fab animation team -- who work so tirelessly to talk to guests, put on fun activities and participate in the nightly shows as well -- and the outside pat [... read more]io lobby bar servers who are just the sweetest ladies ever!!! We had no problem getting pool or beach chairs (as you always do if you stay at Riu), no issue getting reservations for the specialty restaurants. The grounds are really lovely and always well maintained, as was the pool. My teenagers and us met so many great people to hang out with in our week there!! They posted on YikYak to meet up with other teens there. We stayed in 1010 in 10 block overlooking the fountain and we found it to be great location, quick walk to lobby and pool. Recommend the Steakhouse and Mexican restaurants; the Tepanaki Japanese was just OK -- I have experienced a better "show" at Bahia Principe. If I can mention a couple of minor drawbacks (and they were not really super important to us) the food at Riu resorts is better; there are not many stores on the property and none to walk to if shopping is your thing; the waves are strong most days (red flag on some, yellow flag on others) and so may not be great for little children but you can walk out quite far before being bowled over; the bartenders for the most part are just OK< not super friendly but not rude either. And the excursions are super expensive compared to similar resorts so we did not do them; we took a cab to Sayulita, the funky but congested beach surfer town 1/2 hour away (300 pesos or $15). Would recommend and wish you a happy stay if you go!

Fairly new resort

Impressed with the bottle of champagne in our room for my birthday. Someone would have had to review my information as we did not mention it was my birthday. Staff was excellent. Often they would engage guests in conversation. Grounds were clean and maintained. Our disappointment was with the buffet. Food was warm at best and generally over cooked and tough. Easy to fix.

Amazing resort

Great location.staff are friendly. One suggestion is to utilize the terrace bar by keeping it open a bit longer at night I know ppl come not only for drinks but for the scenery and ambiance and maybe put more bar staff during busy times

A Great Place to Soak up the Sun

As mentioned in most other reviews, this resort is exceptionally well maintained and the staff, in our experience, were the best of any of the all-inclusive hotels we have stayed with over the years. Every person we encountered was friendly, helpful, and committed to making our stay enjoyable. Even the beach vendors were friendly and considerate of our wish to be left alone. The food was good at the buffet as well as the themed restaurants, with the Mexican and Gourmet being our favourites. The  [... read more]beach is clean and sandy and very safe for swimming and body surfing. The pool areas were clean and very pleasant although we did spend most of our time on the beach. Our only other experience with Iberostar was a comparable property at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya on the Mayan Riviera. It, too, is an excellent resort. The Playa Mita is a smaller, newer property. We preferred the food at the Paraiso, overall, but the beach and staff at the Playa Mita were exceptional.

Beautiful Resort!

This resort is beautiful with amazing hard working staff. The beach was amazing and the water was so warm! Food was good. Beautiful views from our ocean view room which was 2339. The spa was awesome. This is not a party resort, it was mainly families and couples. Hard to find anything to complain about. I guess the only complaint I can come up with is the steakhouse restaurant was disappointing. Dealing with Trip Central was a very good experience and I will definitely be using them again.

Best Resort Ever!!!!!

We have been to at least 20 All Inclusive Resorts and this is the Best ever!!!! Accomodation, Food, Staff, Beach cannot fault anything. Would go back in a hearbeat. Located about 3/4 hour drive from Airport on a secluded beach.

Perfect vacation!

The staff friendly, professional hard working. Entertainment staff were very energetic and fun. Rooms perfect with amazing views and kept spotless all week. The food was fantastic very tasty our favorite was the steak house. The grounds were impecably kept. We went as a couple, this is a family resort there is lots for kids to do all day, smiling faces everywhere! One of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had! Loved it will definately go back!

Amazing Resort

The Iberostar checked all the boxes, with a clean, comfortable room, excellent food, great service and a beautiful pool and wonderful beach for walking and lying in the sun. There were no palapas on the beach, but there were attendants, who would set up umbrellas for you. There was a beach bar that served light lunches and a large array of drinks. There was no problem getting lounge chairs and shade at either the pool or the beach. On the we were approached by locals peddling their wares, but they are not aggresive, more of a minor nuisance. Around the pool there are many organized activities if you are so inclined. In the evening, we enjoyed the lobby bar and the live entertainment. Our only complaint would be the welcoming drink. We noticed many left their glasses half full. We would highly recommend the IBM for a most pleasurable experience.

Amazing Resort

Everything at this resort was great. Food had lots of options. The Japanese a la carte restaurant was fabulous. Room was good size and clean. They always made sure you had lots of towels and the did turn out service every night. Good activities by the pool and lots of stuff for the kids too. No need to rush and get a chair by the pool there is lots of chairs and lots of shade huts. I would return to this resort.

Amazing resort

I would highly recommend this gorgeous resort. The staff are friendly, the food is amazing, the grounds are always clean. The rooms are magnificent. All of the Ala carte restaurants are great and the buffet is wonderful. There are no negatives about this resort. If you hear different don't listen.

Beautiful resort

Awesome resort..pool was warm..rooms and beds were great..food was wonderful drink s yummy..staff were all friendly and lots of fun..ocean was warm..no rocks..no complaints at all... highly recommend this resort..

Great resort

wonderful stay at truly a 5 star resort. The grounds & landscaping were amazing as well as all the original woodwork around the resort. Great pool and the professional staff were on hand throughout the day with activities if you were so inclined, or you could just kick back and enjoy the great weather. Great restaurants and there was enough variety at the buffets that you never tired of the food. Would definitely recommend this resort.

An awesome time

We had a great time with friends at Iberostar Playa Mita. Beach was wonderful, water was warm. Amenities were ample. Food was delicious, hosts were all consistently warm and friendly. Our room was comfortable with a king size bed and balcony overlooking the amazing courtyard. All in all it was a great experience. We booked on-line but after coming back and walking past a travel agency in the mall I stopped in and made a 100 % recommendation for Iberostar Playa Mita. Would not recommend tourist t [... read more]o volunteer for nightly 9:30 pm show. Could be embarrassing.

Excellent resort Nice beach and amenities.

Most of the restaurants were very good the japanese and the orient express both excellent Buffet was very good. The beach was very clean and good for walking pool was large and clean. Staff on the most part were Excellent would return to this resort.

Welcome to Paradise!

The Iberostar Playa Mita is overall an amazing resort-beautiful grounds, amenities, beachfront and pool area, fresh and delicious food, and great service. I would recommend this hotel for 40+ crowd, as its mainly an older crowd and may not be the type of venue young singles are looking for. Theres the convenience of wifi all over the resort. Theres a fun and very authentically Mexican town "Sayulita" 15 minutes away that is great for surfers/or just a fun excursion away from the resort. My one a [... read more]nd only complaint about the resort is that things were stolen from our room-nobody entered my or my sisters room besides the cleaning staff and my sister had money stolen and I had a pair of pants and some toiletries taken (they must have rifled through our things because the stolen items were put away in drawers). They gave my sister a complimentary massage at the spa to compensate for her stolen money, however nothing was done to replace my stolen items-they never even got back to me despite saying they would within 24 hours. I am very disapointed with the Iberostar in this regard and would caution anyone going to this resort to ensure to lock up all valuables and don't leave any items in the room that you would be upset if they were stolen.
