Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Great Family Resort

We went as a group of 8 adults and 5 children (ages 8, 10, 11, and 14). This is a great resort for families, but the adults also had a great time taking in the entertainment in the evenings and enjoying to the pool bar. This is a lively, family oriented resort. Buffet and al la carte restaurants were good. The kids loved ordering room service! The only thing we missed was more of a lively beach atmosphere.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: 6 out of 10

The hotel is not truly a 5-star property. The main issue was the food—it was often not fresh, sometimes overly salty, and frequently served cold. It felt as though some of the meals had been prepared the day before. The bathroom and shower were also quite old and had a damp smell. The entertainment was okay, and the hotel itself was calm and quiet, which made it good for relaxation. The pool was definitely the best part of the stay. Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Royalton Antigua

The overall grounds were clean and well groomed. The room walls are paper thin and you could hear what was going in the next room. The rooms could use some updating. Food was good & entertainment was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The resort app. did not work when we were there for week’s vacation. Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Definitely nowhere close to a 4.5 or 5 star at best 3.5.

We travel to the Dominican Republic every year — sometimes twice a year — and this was by far the most disappointing resort experience we have ever had. From the moment we arrived, there were issues. The room smelled strongly of septic, the TVs were not working, and the fridge did not work either. Basic room functionality should not be a problem at any resort. We woke up earlier and earlier each day — even as early as 6:30 a.m. — and still could not secure one. For a resort of this size, this is completely inadequate. On top of that, the pool itself was disgusting. We actually had to inform the entertainment staff that it needed cleaning. The entertainment team was mediocre at best. You would see them briefly in the afternoon — perhaps three times total throughout the day — and that was it. There was very little engagement or energy. Restaurant reservations were a nightmare. We were initially told that reservations could only be made at 5:00 p.m. for the following day. Every time we attempted this, everything was fully booked. After three days of frustration, we were finally told that reservations could actually be made starting at 8:00 a.m. — despite having asked multiple staff members previously. The inconsistency and lack of communication were unacceptable. Food quality and availability were also disappointing. For the entire week, there was no lettuce available at lunch or dinner, meaning you could not even make a basic salad. Three days into our stay, we came down with a stomach virus that was clearly spreading throughout the resort. After speaking with multiple guests, it was obvious many people were affected. We spent four days in our room recovering. What was most concerning was that the resort did nothing to inform guests or attempt to contain the outbreak. They could have enforced hand sanitizing, sanitized shared utensils more frequently, or taken visible preventative measures — but instead, it felt like they were trying to ignore the situation. We will absolutely never stay at this resort again.

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Beautiful resort but getting sick blew it

The resort is a beauty, super clean. We were Diamond Club. The room was great and all worked, plenty of hot water, fridge restock daily, room cleaned perfectly except the day off of the regular cleaner. We were in block 17 7th floor and the view was fantastic. Our Butler Jhonny was great but I felt that we miss some information as we were 8 and in 4 different rooms and there was not much informations regarding directions to places. The resort is great but they need to change their beach towel rules and stop the chairs reservations with the towels. This was a big issue for the none Diamond Club. In the Diamond club area we always had chairs available. Pools were great, drinks at the pools were also great specially at the Diamond club pool. Food was good to my taste at the Italian restaurant, the Buffet but we went to the Cave one night and did not find the food good. The beach is great we were surprise we could walk it pass our resort with no concern. Here is my main issue, we were a group of 16 12 adults anf 4 childrens. All was well until we went to the Japaneese ZEN Hibachi style restaurant. 12 of the adults had dinner there and 6 of us got extremly sick the next day, 5 did not have the energy to get out of the room. I was the brave one going for my walk and ended up tthrowing up 5 times at the Diamond Club pool in front of multiple resort employees and No one came to help me. We my wife and I travel multiple time yearly and never have I been so sick. The good thing is it last like 12 hours in my case. Once the butler found out I was sick he came to see if he could do anything for me but it was too late. 2 more of the group got sick during the return home in the plane. Resort is one of the nicest I have seen but they have issues with the FOOD and Nora Virus that hit nearly every groups that are there.

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Wonderful Foodie Resort

Positives 1. Clean, comfortable beds and rooms Extras - Shampoo, conditioner, body wash included Make up mirror with light, magnification 2. Excellent selection on buffet 3. Speciality restaurant 4. Great bar beverages and good selection of non alcoholic drinks 5. Entertainment had something every night but mostly oriented to families. Not cruise ship caliber entertainment but not nothing. 6. Beautiful long, beach but very powerful undertow 7. Diamond club perks, early [... read more] buffet seating with designated area Top shelf liquor for drinks Designated beach area loungers 8. The wrist band you wear is your door key 9. Best check in we've experienced because we were diamond club. Negatives 1. Food allergies are requested by staff but not acted upon. I had to ask for a manager in order to have it attended. 2. They tried to sell a membership into their resorts. Very heavy handed sales pitch 3. Lots of families (not what we were looking for) 4. No designated smoking section outside at pool and beach areas 5. Occasional loss of water in rooms 6. Although you have access to other affiliated resort the foot print of the main resort is relatively small in comparison to other resorts we've been in.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Disappointing Stay

We stayed at Royalton Bavaro from February 8–15 with a group of 10 (four rooms). Unfortunately, this experience fell far below expectations for a resort of this level. Prior to arrival and again at check-in, we requested that our rooms be in the same building. We were assured this would be accommodated by the front desk employee, but upon arrival to rooms we were split between Buildings 16, 17, and 18. We were not instructed to download the Royalton app and were not explained how to get to ou [... read more]r rooms and were not offered an intro to the resort(as this is usually done at check in or at the room when bags are dropped off). The rooms were visibly dirty. There was mold in the bathrooms and stains on bedding, along with a strong mildew smell. One room’s air conditioning produced a sewage odor when turned on(building 17), and another had a broken mini-fridge that took five days to repair. Housekeeping was inconsistent — toilets were not cleaned daily, bedding was never changed during our seven-night stay, and surfaces were not properly wiped down. We often cleaned areas ourselves. Dining was inconsistent and, at times, unacceptable. The Steakhouse was excellent. The Zen restaurant was enjoyable, but food was just ok. The Italian restaurant experience was abysmal, half our group left without eating. Service was terrible - drink orders took 30min. Food items did not all arrive and food took over 90 minutes to be delivered. The main buffet had an unpleasant odor, chairs were sticky or had food debris on them, and disorganized service — we frequently waited for cutlery and water after already having food at the table. More concerning were the food safety practices observed at the beach/pool buffet, including cross-contamination between raw and cooked items. On one occasion, a staff member handled raw chicken and then fresh tomatoes without changing gloves. During our stay, 6 of the 10 people in our group became ill. Four were violently ill and confined to their rooms for approximately two days. This significantly impacted our vacation and raised serious concerns about sanitation and food handling. There were positives: the beach is beautiful and the seaweed was minimal, and the café was excellent — great pastries, sandwiches, coffee, quick service, and consistently reliable options. The daily/nightly entertainment was excellent and shows were great. The pools and lazy river were extremely cold, to the point where we only used the lazy river once despite it being one of the reasons we booked. Morning beach walks also revealed leftover glassware, beer cans, and debris from the day before in and around all the beach loungers. Lastly, if bringing Dominican pesos for tipping, bring small bills. Throughout the week, the lobby, casino, and gift shop were unable to provide change, which made tipping difficult. Overall, this stay did not reflect the quality expected at this price point. While there were a few highlights, the cleanliness, food safety concerns, and multiple illnesses made this a very disappointing experience.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Great resort!

We really enjoyed our time at Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun. The rooms were beautiful and cleaned daily. Food was great, a large variety to choose from. We did run into troubles trying to book reservations through the app; however, we went to guest services, and they were super helpful and booked us in for dinner reservations. Drinks were always cold, and service was quick!

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Very nice resort but cold pools!

This resort is a solid 4 star. Grounds are beautiful! At night it is stunning. Lobby is beautiful and fun with great entertainment every night. Food is decent. Trying to book a restaurants is very annoying - we opted for the buffet most nights. Rooms are pretty and well appointed but could use some work. Musty smell but luckily we had a dehumidifier in the room that helped. Staff was hit and miss. We didn’t find them eager. Waiters at the pool and lobby would come by once in a w [... read more]hile but never consistent even though we tipped well. This is NOT a resort you will be dotted on. All the pools are cold so be prepared for that. The lazy river was the coldest. Super Fun for kids - fun kids pool with slides etc. One pool is loud and rowdy (Infinity pool) and the Royalton pool is more quiet but still fun. Overall we liked it and would go back.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: 10 days at Royalton

This is a difficult review. Our first room was clean, but smelled awful. Not tropical damp, mildew and mold. The second room was much better. The food ranged from okay to good. Some staff were very nice. Some staff were not happy to be there. I imagine it's not a great place to work. The beach was lovely as was the lazy river. Though it was cold. (The lazy river that is). Bartenders were fast and friendly. We were able to make all the reservations we needed without being diamond cl [... read more]ub, and i had been concerned about that. I would have had a much better stay if I had never spent a night in building 18. We traveled with family that were on a different floor in 18, and had the same issue.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Great Resort

Loved this resort. Food was plentiful and good. Our room was great, situated right by the pool. Our butler Rolando was awesome. He made himself available all day and would check to see how our day was going. Very professional with an amazing personality. He would make sure our dinner reservations were set and if we needed towels or anything regarding the room, he was on it. Would definitely love to have him as our butler again. Royalton CHIC Antigua: Lovely Resort

Nice beach, nice rooms, pleasant staff, all the amenities, entertainments and restaurants are readily accessible. Only problem is the food quality is hit and miss. Mostly miss. And food service is also hit and miss. Mostly miss.

Royalton CHIC Cancun: Royalton CHIC Cancun

The hotel's employee are very friendly and warm hearted. The facilities in hotel are also good. The foods are generally good, salad, fruit and seafood in buffet restaurant are very fresh, but lack of varieties.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Overbooked-left without a room

Our stay at the Royalton Bávaro was disappointing to say the least. Beware of overbooking and being without a room. We travelled with 3 other families. Upon arrival 3 of the families didn’t have rooms available to check into. After 4 hours of waiting at the front desk, we were finally provided a room but not the swim out room we paid for. Our friends unfortunately were unable To get a room that night and were forced to stay in our room. We asked for blankets to accommodate the 4 additional peop [... read more]le in the room and didn’t get them until 1am. The hospitality at the resort wasn’t there. Would never stay at another Royalton again. Beware of this resort. We are not the only ones who were without proper accommodation upon arrival. From our discussions with other travellers it was an issue for the last two weeks at least.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Great resort

This was an amazing resort, grounds were clean rooms were clean all amenities were well kept and clean. We were able to visit other resorts as well and enjoy their amenities but to be honest ours was probably the best in terms of amenities. The food was delicious the 24-hour snack bar with room service was a good add-on I would highly recommend this to anyone who would be willing to take the 90-minute bus ride from the airport to this hotel.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Gorgeous and Delicious

This beautiful resort is on a stunning stretch of beach, and if the ocean isn't your thing, there are so many pools! The food everywhere is great - at the buffet, the themed restaurants, even the poolside food trucks. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the whole place is just lovely. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. If I had one complaint it would be the evening entertainment. The evening shows are held outside by the main pool. There is not enough seating to accommodate every [... read more]one and the shows themselves are difficult to watch while standing. In other resorts there are cultural, comedy and music shows to watch after dinner in a separate theatre, and often a disco-like space for dancing and drinking until late. If you enjoy this kind of late-night vibe, we didn't find it here. We did take a couple of excursions which were amazing. Catamaran trips to Isla Mujeres, cultural tours of Mayan ruins and other trips are available at reasonable rates. We really enjoyed our week!

The grounds and the hotel is beautiful. Very well kept. The people from check in- to the vibeteam to everyone works there are very friendly and very welcoming. I love the DR, its my favorite place to visit. My husband and I got married i the DR 3 years ago at a different resort which we enjoyed as well but out of all the resorts i have visited in the DR, Jamaica and Cuba, this is my favorite resort so far. My hubby and I plan to visit again next years. We loved the food, loved the lazy river and [... read more] just loved everything about this resort. The shows were amazing as well. The only thing I wish is they had more things to do at night for the adults and also the people on the beach trying to sell things, they are very pushy. I know they are trying to make money but we are also there to enjoy a nice vacation.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Royalton Bavaro is an excellent stay

I loved it. Beautiful grounds, beach they had phenomenal shows each night. The food is good especially Zen Japanese. I absolutely love the lazy river as well. Loved the staff they are so helpful and friendly. Rosa our concierge. Franklin and Julio our bartenders. Reggie and Julio the excursion people were awesome. The shows were so good and they had one each night.

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Decent trip

Overall we do have a good trip. The staff here were very friendly and welcoming. The beach was stunning although a bit rough. Drinks at this resort were top notch. Made perfectly and massive variety. The food was just ok, typical resort food and nothing special. There are lots of pools but they do need maintenance, my daughter cut her foot at two different pools from broken drain as well as missing tiles causing sharp edges, also one of the pool lights was popped out of the hole and just floatin [... read more]g at the side of the pool with wires exposed. Water park was actually great and our kids had the best time there. That being said 5 out of 8 of our party did become sick with vomiting and diarrhea (which seems to be common at this resort from reading other reviews). Overall we did have a good trip however I would not visit this resort again nor would I personally recommend it. That being said if you have booked here I do think you will have a good time as long as you don’t get sick.
