Well maintained and run especially considering how slow it was. The animation team did a great job getting people involved in an off season environment Amazing beach 🏖️ and pool area Always enough poolside or beach chairs.

Alright

The food was pretty good though not all restaurants are open each night. Getting water or towels in the room is a nightmare. I tried getting a bandaid at night and they said come back in the morning… when I was bleeding then. Some of the staff are rude but some are great. Pool and beach are nice. Had ants in the room. It’s very loud at night

Sad visit

This is the 6th time I've been to this resort , I've never paid more than $950. for a room on my own. this time $1,609. and shared . The resort changed, food quality dropped and the portion size is was smaller. They kept running out wine as they limited the amount they supplied each restaurant. They outsourced the entertainment not as good. As it's going to be a family resort in June I'll no longer be going to Viva Wyndham V Heaven again

Met my expectations

I didn't expect much of this resort post COVID, as I knew the draw was the golf course literally across the street. The food was OK and the location is fine but the amenities need updating. Very loud air conditioner and a safe that didn't work did not help with my experience. The staff were OK, but none really stood out.

Intimate Resort

I picked this resort for our silver anniversary trip because of the price and number of good reviews. However, all of the negative reviews you read are unfortunately true. Their cab sav vino tinto was delicious and at 8.5% alc/vol, you can drink loads. The ala cartes were quite satisfactory. I would recommend the salmon at the Blend. We had to use the medical facilities at the mall and Dr. Guisman was very accommodating and thorough and totally helped us navigate travel insurance. We we're told that somebody would clean the bugs out of our light fixtures and that we would be moved to a different room 3 days into our trip, but it never happened and we just let it go. I think the best way to get service is to talk to your airline rep whether it is Sunwing or Air Canada or Transat to get results. Tip to those of you who drink lots of water , get it from the gym . Loved the one man band nightly entertainment. This was our first trip to the Puerto Plata area so really can't compare to other resorts there.

Good Value for Money

Overall, my partner and I both felt that the resort was good value for the cost. The grounds were well-kept, rooms were clean, and food was tasty! With that said, it is definitely not a 5* and there were several things that could be improved... Our main qualm was that the evenings are extremely loud due to the disco/partying. Due to the small size of the resort there is only one pool and I think having a quiet section would be a significant improvement for those of us that are more keen on relax [... read more]ing as opposed to partying.

Beautiful resort

First time for us going to Puerto Plata...we were really impressed with how clean the hotel and the grounds were...we enjoyed the walk on the path that took us to the ocean it looked like a little Amazon river...the food was great, room was nice and big, dining room was great...people were very friendly...overall everything was great .

Excellent Adults only resort!

First time at a small resort and we loved it. The staff were outstanding, from the front desk, to servers, to entertainment staff to security. The food was excellent in all the restaurants, could have been hotter but still not worth a complaint. We enjoyed the scenic walk to and from the beach for exercise, as well as wonderful quiet beach walks. I am giving it a five star, as we certainly got our moneys worth and more. Nice intimate resort

This is a smaller resort which we had not experienced before. It was nice to really get to know the staff as well as the guests. If you struck up a conversation with someone you were sure to see them again several times. We really enjoyed that. The staff provided excellent customer service. An example of this is that I asked fr an espresso martini and asked the staff if it would be possible to have a martini glass. The staff too the time to go find a martini glass and for the entire two weeks we were there when I requested an espresso martini they took the time to find the martini glass for me. Housekeeping did great job of cleaning our room and ensuring we had clean towels. The variety of a la carte restaurants was great and my only complaint is that the food at the restaurants was not very warm. The service was good but the Mexican restaurant is so busy it could use more staff. The entertainment staff are great and Lucco was especially great to listen to every evening on the pool deck. His knowledge of music is astounding, and he lead a great volley ball game every day at the beach. The vendors at the beach are simply trying to make a living and once we said no gracias they did not bother us. Check in was quick and seamless as was checkout. We enjoyed the resort and because its changing to a family resort we wont return. I love kids but not on my vacation LOL. We were quite happy with our choice of resorts. Average hotel

The hotel seems to be old and in my opinion requires improvements. For example: Closing rooms door from outside require slamming the door which creates a lot of noise. Room Cupboard are not closing properly. Some food in the kitchen is over cooked, especially chicken. It is basically impossible to eat. The good think is the staff. Always friendly and happy to help.

Small, Adult Only Until May

This is a small, well appointed resort. It is clean and well maintained. The rooms are spacious, but are lacking in drawer space and could benefit from more hooks to hang towels and bathing suits on. If you use facecloths, bring your own, they do not provide them. Likewise with Kleenex. The pool is in full sun until mid afternoon and the beach is beautiful! The food is quite good and the specialty restaurants do not require reservations and open at 6:00 pm. 7 days at Viva Wyndham V Heavens hotel

7 days at Viva Wyndham V Heavens went by very fast. This was a very refreshing, relaxing and very calm vacation. I felt mentally recharged and rested at the end of it The weather cooperated and we felt our timing was right. The hotel is clean and the outside of the hotel is very well maintained. There were no Covid restrictions on us but some staff were wearing masks. And the staff were visible, friendly, very responsive and helpful. Most of our minor requests were resolved immediately. The staff are well-trained and work in coordination with each other! The room was kept clean and the facilities outside were clean as well. The five restaurants served freshly prepared meals and the taste was almost always to our liking. And the nature: the beach, the sand, the sun - amazing!! All in all, the time in the resort was spent very well. Very good value for the money!!

A True Dominican Gem!

This is a relatively small hotel. It is for now an all adult resort. It is to change shortly into a family hotel, unfortunately. It is in the Playa Dorada area which is a wonderful gated community comprised of several other resorts and private residences. It is very safe, well maintained and ultra clean. As an all adult resort it is peaceful and tranquil except for the loud dance music at night which is to be expected and part of the fun. The staff, without exception, is outstanding. From Kelvis [... read more] at the front reception, to Omer at the poolside bar to Rosanna at the Italian Restaurant on the beach they were all gracious, eager to assist and performed their duties with sincere smiles. The food was a pleasant surprise. I visited all five restaurants and found the food to be of high quality. It was abundant, diverse, fresh, well prepared and well presented. The only downside was that the food often was served lukewarm even after asking for it to be served hot. It appears that the kitchens do not have heating salamanders to keep food hot. Management please note! The facitilies and services were most satisfactory. The grounds were very clean and there was an abundance of chairs and recliners both poolside and at the beach. The beach was sandy, cleansed of sea grasses every day and perfect for long walks. The entertainment staff were brilliant with their presentations of games, dancing, singing and evening shows. A truly delightful resort.

Awesome Trip

Spent 7 relaxing days at this beautiful resort. The staff were amazing, food was great, rooms were clean! Beautiful beach walks every morning. Definitely recommended. Hoping to return before it turns into a family resort :)

Ok resort but not 4 1/2 stars imo

The resort is a mixed bag: Food is good, but lacks variety I expected for the rating Very Clean Booze was disappointing both in terms of quality and selection. Entertainment was not as good as I expected. There was no “viva” vibe People nice and courteous.

Good for budget but little things could have made it nicer.

Recently returned (April 14 2022) from Viva Wyndham Heavens and feel we got a little less than what we expected but still enjoyed the sunshine and pleasant people of the Dominican. The resort deserves high marks for cleanliness and the attentiveness of their staff to the limits they are permitted.I say this as with every trip to the Dominican Republic I've always found the people to be very welcoming and willing to help. Little things like service around the pool or on the beach, timing of meal courses during Ala carte dinners, bread plates when serving rolls, offerings of the entire accents to a meal rather than delivering upon request when convenient. Visited Blend, Rosmarino and Pueblo 222 as well as V Kitchen (buffet). Blend has a good offering of Seafood and Steaks however your quality/ cut of Steak will be a hit or miss situation, I had one night over marinated cheap cut and on second occasion although very small it was good.Someone needs to look at the table/booth heights as I'm 6' 2" and the table was above my sternum, not comfortable. Rosmarino, or Italian was just okay, far too sweet a sauce is used everywhere, and should consider Fresh Parmesan offering. Pueblo 222 was my favorite however why not offer the wonderful guacomole, Salsa and cream with the Fajitas/ Tacos rather than people having to ask for it. As far as the Buffet I don't believe I had anything hot from the steam tables all week, and never once saw what we would call bacon at breakfast. Although creative you could see the efforts made to use every bit of what was previoulsy served. Inexpensive booze but reasonable beer and no Canadian whiskey at all. I saw an occasional bottle of Absolut Vodka bu that was for VIP clients, so if VIP gets Absolut the rest of us are wondering how VIP the VIP could be? By the way, do not under any circumstances order the Club sandwich from room service, we lost 2 days with illness as a result.

Well worth the price!

The beach and food were great. You can pick apart the rest but at the end of the day we’ll worth it! There booze selection is very limited and the rooms are a little run down but over all this place is okay.

Amazing Resort

The hotel is beautiful and relaxing. The staff from the front desk to the beach and everyone in between go above and beyond to make your stay the best it can be. The restaurants and food presentations are top notch. Everything is clean. All staff wore masks, hand sanitizer and temperature monitoring at all restaurants. Looking forward to returning when they reopen after renovation.

Absolutely recommend this gem of a resort!

The resort was the perfect size which made walking around and finding your bearings super easy. It was very clean, the pool was incredible, the beach (and the walk to it) was STUNNING. The a la carte restaurants were delicious, and there were a large variety of refreshing cocktails. Quiet enough for people that want to relax, but there are also a bunch of fun activities going on all the time for people that want to have fun. Really amazing experience!

Relax away

The resort was smaller than I expected however the staff and service was incredible. Food was good and the resort Is very clean. They had entertainment every night. I would definitely recommend for some to come here
