This is a very modern resort and has different features than what were are use to experiencing. Very modern and nice decor from the lobby to our room. The infinity pool was amazing to have and we enjoyed it several time each day between main pool and beach. The food was the best I have had in any resort since we have been travelling for the past 13 years. The freshness and taste was amazing.
The staff was supper helpful and friendly going above and beyond the task they had.
I would r[... read more]ecommend this resort to anyone who is looking for a new experience going to an all inclusive.

Slice of heaven!
What a wonderful vacation we had at El Dorado seaside resort. From the moment we arrived till we left, we felt well taken care of. Staff were always happy to answer any questions we had but were never pushy to sell extra services. Rooms were spacious, clean and well stocked with a beautiful Jacuzzi in each washroom. The view from every room is lovely, looking directly out to the beach and waterfront. The food was excellent with a wide choice of restaurants both a la carte and buffet style t[... read more]o choose from and evenings offered a range of entertainment to enjoy. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would certainly consider returning to the El Dorado.

Amazing
First resort I have stayed at where the food was actually good ! So impressed that we bought a vacation membership to Karisma resorts. Pool just off our terrace, lounge bed on the terrace, 24 hour room service...hardly needed to leave our room!

Would not recommend
This resort was over valued and misrepresented by the travel agent. New - yes. Ready for tourists - not really. The Beach was a disappointment. Narrow, very rough, near impossible to walk in bare feet. Men all day in the water with chopper cutting up the rock. Could not walk in water far too rough and seaweed galore. The beach is on a hill so could not get comfortable on lounges as you always felt like sliding or tipping over. If you weren't up and on beach by 6am and claiming a spot you could n[... read more]ot get one. People would lay claim and not show up till end of day and no one went around to clear spot for those that were there. Very disappointing - not a cheap holiday and it was bad.
Food was second issue. Everything tasted the same - everything was the same everyday just thrown in a different pot or sauce. The fish was always over cooked - even if ordered and not taken from buffet. The best meal we had all week was at Bubba Gump at the airport when we were leaving. We did try every restaurant at the resort if had to pick guess the Asian was okay. One major issue was to get to the restaurants up at the main building you had to go past the sewage dump and it was nasty - you could not get the smell out of your head. First and almost everytime passing this stretch you are challenged not to throw up - and we were there in winter not sure how it would be in hot weather but it was gross and it isn't like you can avoid it you have to go that way to get to the restaurants - most unpleasant!
The other really annoying discovery - the rooms! We were excited to hear everyone has an ocean view. And we did. What they don't explain is that to get the ocen view they built the hotel on a big arc - half curve all facing out and at the bottom of all of this are the swimming pools and in the swimming pool is the swim up bar. All lovely until the rest sinks in - it is an echo chamber. The wind blows in off the ocean - into the echo chamber and all the laughter of people having fun on their holiday fills the rooms including those that have had too much to drink at the bar and are now loudly enjoying their time - swearing, joking, all in the spirit of good fun and holiday but you don't want to hear it, you are not with them you have gone back to the room to rest - oooppps forget that you are in the echo chamber and can't shut the noise out. Oh did I mention there is a night club in the middle of the echo chamber on the 4 th floor that because of the way the building is built - that beautiful selling point - everyone has an ocean view - well the breeze blows in and you get to hear all the music and noise of the night club until it closes at 1, 2 or 3am - how wonderful - might as well just stay up for your early excursion cause you won't get any sleep.
Oh and the all inclusive - mini bar - featured as a bonus in everyroom - great it is filled with pop and beer. Seriously not much of mini bar any other inclusive has had a full range of options not this one and we don't drink beer - so that too was a rip off. But there was a Starbucks and you could purchase from them anytime they were open. Last time I checked All Inclusive meant - no need to carry money - everything included guess they forgot that.
This resort was nothing like it was sold. We were robbed of a vacation in time, relaxation and dollars. Tripcentral did us no favor in misrepresenting the excellence of this resort - we were very clear as to what we wanted and it was so far off the mark they should have paid us to go there.
Would not recommend the resort or tripcentral.

Good resort with incredible oceanfront views
The resort is very nice and has lots of great amenities but a few things to be aware of. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, ocean front view and infinity pool right off the balcony are awesome! Staff and service were excellent. Food was very good. Entertainment was also good. The grounds are beautiful and very well developed. Great snorkelling right off the resort. Excellent fitness facilities and fitness programs throughout the day, also great to have 24hr fitness room access.[... read more] The spa services were very nice and reasonably priced.
It is a pretty large complex and lots of walking to get to places. The layout of the resort is a bit strange with no breakfast or supper available in the El Dorado Seaside buildings. The El Dorado lobby building is a long distance from where the rooms are. Not a problem if you like walking and there were good paths for an early morning run. They did have golf cart shuttles running regularly so easy options to get around.
The only other things not so great was the beach and main pool at the El Dorado side. Not a very large beach area and very rocky, no real good areas on beach for lounging. Loungers that were there were are on quite a slope and not comfortable as a result. The main pool was not great for access and they played quite loud music all day long. Really wasn't a problem for us though as we spent most of our days at the beach and pools on the Sensimar side - much nicer developed beach on that side.

Great accommodations
Accommodations - spacious, well appointed rooms. Beds were very comfortable. Swimmable balconies were a fun surprise.
Dining - lots of options with good assortment. Food quality good but would not classify this as gourmet.
Pool - immaculate with a well stocked swim up bar.
Grounds - well kept, lush and very attractive
Beaches - well kept but limited swimming due to rocks and coral. Sandy beach was quite a distance away. Would recommend that the hotel provide direct shuttle to the bea[... read more]ch.
Advertising - a bit misleading as it appeared that services were all at the El Dorado. some where only available at the sister property, Sensimar.
Activities - need more water sports on site, e,g. Hobie Cats, kayaks, jet skis, etc.
Service - Beach Butler provided excellent service as did the beach bar maids. Rooms were cleaned well but supplies not always refilled. EACH employee, no matter what their status greeted us with a genuine smile. Great customer service training. We felt most welcome.

Fantastic Resort!!
This was the first out of country trip my husband and I have been on in 20yrs and 5 months. We booked a trip for our 20th wedding anniversary. The resort was more then we imagined. It was stunning, and everyone was so friendly. We were sad to leave b/c we know we may never again see the amazing people we met. And I mean the people that worked there. It was an incredible experience that we will never forget. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, our room was so beautiful and relaxing, [... read more] the food was so delicious, I have the 5 extra pounds to prove it! There isn't one bad thing to say about this resort. This was an amazing time away and I wouldn't hesitate to suggest family and friends to go and experience El Dorado Seaside Suits for themselves. We are hoping to return ourselves one day in the near future! :)

We loved it
The building was beautiful and the staff were very friendly, the food was excellent and mostly a la cart, which is what we prefer. There is small things that we could comment on that could have been better but there will always be little things at every resort or hotel stay. We enjoyed El Dorado and we would go back.

Nice resort
Just came back from El Dorado. Friendly staff, excellent service. Grounds beautifully kept. This is the sister resort to the Sensimar so you can use their beach as well which is good because the El Dorado beach is narrow with coarse sand and rocky, I think because it takes a few years to clean it up.
Food was not as good as I've had at other Mexican resorts. Dinners were better but bbq lunch was dry and terrible like it was cooked in the main kitchen and then reheated. Both hotels share a ma[... read more]in restaurant but ED does not have a breakfast restaurant so you have to walk the 10-12 minutes or wait for the tram. Walking is more reliable. Would prefer to have a closer breakfast restaurant since the race for the beach beds is fierce! But this is probably true of any resort.
Design of El Dorado is such that everyone has an ocean view which everyone desires. Problem is, is that the v shape creates an echo chamber and you can hear the party as long as it goes on. If you bring your ear plugs it's fine.
The spa employees are out on the beach every day several times a day hustling their expensive services.
Pools were too cold to swim in.

Beautiful resort
The new part of the resort is beautiful. The rooms are spacious and very nice. The whole resort staff are friendly and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable.
There is really no beach yet on the new side but a very nice, but small, beach on the Santimar side (older side).
The food was amazing! We loved the Italian best.
The activities and night shows were plentiful.
We had amazing weather too.

Fantastic resort.
Employees couldn't do enough for you, always pleasant and smiling. Very hard working people.
Grounds were beautiful and lush.
Never any lineups for meals, only 2 restaurants required reservations.
No wrist bands required.
I would highly recommend this resort.

Absolutely beautiful!
My husband and I just got back from our 4 day little getaway and we had a great time! New years party was awesome which was a nice touch. Restaurants were great, minus us both getting sick our last night- we ate a burger at the outdoor bbq and it did not sit well. Our room was spectacular!!! 7617----amazing view!!!!!!!!! Only downfall---barely a beach BUT Sensimar has a beautiful beach so we were over on that side most of our stay. We will be returning to this resort hopefully sooner then later![... read more]!!

New Building Not the Same
Have been to El Dorado Seaside Suites in the past and when booked for Dec 2016 saw the new building with the ocean front infinity suites. Just got back and wish we had booked Sensimar Seaside Suites which is the old El Dorado Seasides. The good news is we had access to Sensimar and the beach/beach beds as well as all of the restaurants. The view from the new building is spectacular and I did enjoy having a dip in the infinity "river" off the suite,
The downside of the new building is you can h[... read more]ear everything in the suites. For some reason they built the rooms with adjoining doors (not sure why in an adults only resort) and you can hear everything. On one evening our neighbours had the TV blaring at 2am and it felt like it was in my room, and on another night they ordered room service and I could hear the cutlery on the plates.
If you have stayed at the old Seaside Suites and enjoyed the small buildings and resort I would suggest staying there as it's less expensive and a little more quiet.
As always with Karisma resorts the staff and food at both resorts was excellent!

Great resort!
We really enjoyed our stay. Room was lovely with our own balcony and pool and jacuzzi. Grounds are beautiful. Food was good. Spa services were excellent. But most important are the Mayan people. They are so endearing. Always pleasant and helpful. And do an excellent job.
We were celebrating our 50th annniversary and this resort and its staff truly made it memorable.
