Hotel is okay

Beach and surrounding grounds are good. Food is okay. Service is very slow at Snack bar. Considering all they serve is sandwiches it should not be slow. The Italian and Indian restaurants are very good. The Cuban is good for fish. The beef is not edible. The buffet is okay typical for Cuba. One thing for improvement is make the wifi last the lenght of your stay. You have to reset everyday. The toilets are constantly running which makes sleeping difficult.

Great hotel

Nice spacious rooms with most rooms offerimg ocean views. Very nicely laid out facilities with acess ro nice beach and good swimming. All on all very good value. Would not hesitate to go back. Based on what we saw it is the best hotel in the area

It was better

It was our 3rd time in this resort and not the best one. Sometimes pool get very dirty, so hotel closes it. Many kids had ear infections. The staff were wonderful as usual. But the quality and variety of food is terrible. We had 2 rooms connected, in both there were problems with toilets. The door in one room didn't work.

Amazing Resort

The landscaping well maintained. 2 out of 3 pools were open, and towards the end of my stay the infinity pool opened however the pool bar did not. They are not at full capacity yet. The buffet had many varieties of food such as calamari, fish and shrimp. Steak beef, stir fry beef together with pork and chicken. Food was delicious. Lobster dinner at Sandero was amazing!

Worse than 2019

I was in this hotel 2 weeks in July 2022 it was the second time, first time June 2019 from the arriving, it was a visible difference now and June 2019 personnel at reception was as usually gentle but helpless if you need something room not clean enough, drain in shower clogged, hygiene very low level, garbage all around towels no changed every day (they said washer did not work) toilet paper not supplied (they said ordered but not arrived) buffet under capacity, not enough food, not enou [... read more]gh tables/chars visible discrimination by serving first and better local Cuban guests

Amazing resort

Second visit to this resort.A lot off sand flies now. They said that is the season. At the first visit wasn't. Over all beautiful pools , beach . And now they are ASKING for tips for $ only. They don't accept their currency!!!

Great resort!

The hotel and staff were wonderful. But by far the beach was the best part. Aqua warm water and white sand. Great for long walks. The food was good on some days and not great on others. I never went hungry. Best mojito I have ever had (sports bar). Entertainment was a lot of fun. great live music and dancing in the lobby one day. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Has its pros and cons

Beautiful and clean resort with amazing views + pools! We loved the entertainment (shoutout to the AMAZING twins that host). Getting into the nitty-gritty, the food had a really bad taste, assuming from the off cooking oil. Aside from being hungry 24/7, it was a good spot to vacation. But beware to my girls, some of the workers who were male would hit on me and make me uncomfortable and one day I watched one of the chefs call his friend over to look at a girls butt. Amazing resort with wonderful staff

I've been to Cuba many times, this is by far one of the best resorts I've been too. I traveled with my 11yr old son, 2 senior parents, my husband and brother there was always something to entertain us all. Food was great and staff was AMAZING. THANKS GRAND MUTHU FOR BECOMING OUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME.

Great resort, will go back!

However...realize at times, food could get some people concerned. We had no issue or unreasonable concern. Cuba is enduring embargo and Covid leftovers as is rest of the world. Staffing is outstanding! Ladies on the front desk in some resorts can be standoffish. Not here each one engages customers with patience and enthusiasm and will stay with you till satisfied. Resort overall is clean and well sanitized, check out àny bathroom or their supplies to clean your rooms! Issues are few and I think easily resolved by active, managerial decisions....pull down screens at snackbar restaurant keep those birds from pooping on tables and chairs,,,,this is not safe. Also in Buffet flies in some areas are a concern 5 times in as many days I had to forgo food and drink. Only time I've encountered this in 20 years traveling Cuba or other international locations. Managers, visit your units and fix it!!! I must not forget room housekeepers for their hard work and attention to detail. It's great to have one maid for the entire stay. Jim, Milton.

I’d rate this hotel a 3 maximum. The infinity swim up bar was closed and the water was full of algae , the other main pool was not all that clean either. The hotel beds are comfortable and the room was generally clean however the screen door lock was broken on the main floor and the shower tile was moldy. Overall the food was a 1 star . The mosquitoes are very bad , I had minimum 75 bites for a one week stay , as well as the sand flies . I understand this is the carribean however I have never experienced it like this before . The beach was not what you’d expect of a Cuban beach and the shore was covered in seaweed . I was travelling with my son and he is easy to please in terms of food, however the flies and bird feces all over the outdooor tables and chairs turned him off . Overall not the best experience .

Trip to Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo, September 2022

It seems that Cuba tourism and hospitality industry has suffered big time over 2 years of COVID pandemic. The services and resources were not at the high level as before the pandemic (I have been to Cuba several times). There was a minor shortage of bottled water, fruit, bread, and some food stuff. The main pool was not working due to broken filter, so there was no pool bar which is one of the most attractive spots of any resort. Tons of flies and mosquitos even inside the buffet restaurant. Maintenance of facilities was not at the expected level (broken toilets, pool filters, etc). Night entertainment was mainly DJ, except for 2 nights of live performances. However, the majority of were trying hard so the visitors have a good time, especially: 1. Juan at the Sports Bar 2. The chef at the lobster restaurant by the beach 3. Roxy, Rachel, and their managers at the "a la carte" restaurants 4. supervisors at the buffet restaurant 5. and many others 6. Fortunately free WiFi internet was provided, though you needed to log in frequently Hope that Cuba will recuperate quickly to the previous high level we are used to see in Cuba.

Good resort

Registration was Quick,great room Ocean view ,flood problems with toilet last 2days . fridge stocked with water and two beer the first day after that no beer for the rest of the seven days. breakfast was pretty good had bacon every day and Omelets were great. 24 hour snack bar was not good pizza had a little bit of cheese on it that was it no toppings available fries were off and on during the day. The sports bar was great could play pool bartender made excellent drinks . The entertainment at night was pretty good had an excellent hard rock band performing one night playing all the great old songs. The personnel was quite happy to help you with any needs that requested. The grounds around the area were kept up and the gardeners were very pleasant always saying good morning to you when they would see you. The beach was beautiful warm water and plenty of chairs to go around. Now the bad things mosquitoes and bugs were horrible bitten badly ,in the restaurant flies all over the tables not a very nice time eating . there is no gin so I couldn’t have my favourite drink gin and tonic . overall is a pretty good trip rated the hotel eight out of 10. tipping try to bring American one dollar bills or change to their currency as our loonies and toonies they have a hard time changing it because they can’t do it at the bank so they have to ask travellers if they can change it for bills.

Great resort

Grand muthu is a beautiful resort beautiful beach and lovely staff. There was enough food and drinks room was cleaned everyday. Staff always made sure we were taken care of. One thing i would cgane is adding more entertainment and the birds in the snack bar

Resort is very nice but food wasn’t good !! Flies are all over on the food 😭😭 no vegetables only they have pumpkin soup and steamed pumpkin, steamed okra and beans every day I eat for 7 days same food, pastry and cakes not good at all 😂 Customer service was very very bad if you ask anything to do they say they will do right away but never did it 😭 Looks like they don’t care for anything 😭 People are working at the bar and lunch buffet they are very nice also cleaning ladies [... read more] are good They said it’s 4+ stars but it’s not even 2 stars because when you see the flies all over the food you don’t want eat anything Sorry to say all this but this is true and if you are thinking to going over there think twice because we will never never go there again 😭😭

Great Stay !!

I have made many many trips to Cuba over the last 11 years with many of them in the Cayo Coco / Cayo Guillermo area. Having stayed at many of the resorts in Cuba, I would like to say that this was one of the best Cuban experiences yet. My friends and I had the suites 6314 and 6315 that looked directly over the beach with a commanding view of the ocean. The room was very much first rate and worth the price. Upon our arrival, Marianne and her colleague, Roxana, were fantastic at reception when we arrived and through out our stay with a very strong interest in making sure that we had the best stay possible. The ladies had a great working relationship with their Manager Rafael Peñaranda. He was very focused on supporting his team to drive the vision of great service and efficient solutions to client needs. Thank you very much for everything. Around the resort there were many wonderful people doing great things that just made the stay fantastic for all. Yurida made sure our room was impeccable. Beyond cleaning, she would add little touches that made us feel welcomed and at our home away from home. For breakfast and lunches, we always sat in the section that Dainarys was responsible for. She worked so hard in the heat of the summer to make sure she did her best for the clients. She always was warm and welcoming and a model of eloquence. Mary was one of the entertainers. She has a personality that motivated everyone in her pool exercise sessions in the morning and to get people up on stage to sing Karaoke at night. She clearly became the motivation for the fun many people had. Separately, for those into scuba, Coco Diving has been a go to location for many of my diving trip. The Manager is a man by the name of Noidel. I have known him for many years from when I did my my open water certification to now, as a diving friend and fellow instructor. Noidel. the Instructor staff, and Yail are some of the finest people and professionals I have had the chance to know. There were many more people that I would like to thank as well, like Lester and Oslaydis from Sunwing, that were just always there and happy to help that just made this trip so memorable. Even after all the trips to Cuba over the years (easily 30 to 40 trips) that I have made, I found this to be one of the most memorable and it is a great reason I would keep going back.

Great resort!

It was an amazing stay. Left like I was back in 2019. Everything very relaxed. Great resort. Well kept. The staff at the hotel very friendly. The food as expected. It is Cuba. It beach and ocean views make up for the food

Amazing resort !!!

Everything was great and amazing ! Was expecting seafood ! And it's hard to believe at a place like Cuba not to get seafood ! But overall the food was not to bad! There was,a variety of food too choose ! Also no green salads !

Not clean

Rooms are ok. Dining and common areas are not clean at all and full of flies. Food is bad with very very limited varaties. At the lobby Very bad customer service. At the restaurant, people are very nice and trying their best.

Resort

Check in and where to leave luggage till room ready needs improvement. No greeting with drinks only when the boss of resort was on site Water in room readily given more, no pop or beer supply issues As well at the bar ran out of coke , black tea not always available. Have to be physically able to walk, stairs as no elevator and path to beach not smooth sl down hill and a fair distance from lobby and rooms Loved the quiet evenings nothing really late! Not loud and rowdy! Would definately go again!
