Great Resort

The hotel was clean, the rooms were always clean. The beach was nice and the pools were nice. The rooftop bar was nice, you have to pay for drinks but worth it for the beautiful sunset. The food was ok.

Great Resort , lots to eat & drink. Small flea market , walking distance. Beach & water excellent! Cuba is taking Canadian money !! It’s also perfect for kids ! Entertainment nightly I will be back !!!!

Depends If you want to stay on your balcony and sit becauase you cant get a seat by pool or ocean or go to the pool with no shade or cover by the Sun must go to ocean around three pm to finally seat and see the ocean and breath like i sad i didnt go to be under a tree

This hotel was really new and great lobby and snack bar 24 hours .Has washrooms for disability people big deal where do they do stay in room or pool. This place had not enough chairs by the pool one pool no umbrellas or trees no shade hardly no one used. The other pool had big beds people took bed and chairs i had so much trouble getting chairs at pool and beach it was frustrating holiday we were very upset specially two week holiday. Electric carts to pick up came and didn't come no phone to call for pick always an excuse i under stand Spanish. They said they would bring my sister in law to the beach who would call i would have to go all those stairs to ask someone to call . My poor sister in-law with a cane and metal in her knee had to struggle to get chair by pool and miss out for ocean water. I m in better shape i went to guess service to complain they don't care. The lobby at night not enough to seat to have a drink. they had to many people lots to improve. Food was good lots people were complaining no red wine but they were selling red wine to people that I couldn't figure out but VIPs got it some were using our pool too . There was no pasta for the two weeks that I was there were the Montrealer up set I'm Italian I didn't miss it. I wont return if they don't fix all the problems to bad it is an nice hotel and restaurants. Returning at Airport it was a night mare no seats we had to stand when I arrived there was no air transit or Ola sun to check in we had to wait I paid for option plus no service to go or plane. Tried to call to complain I paid 612.00 to go and come back . I feel air transit should return and refund me for my return flight that was hell never have I experience this I have been to Holguin before twice this is my third visit. I cant find a complaint depart for air transit I sent email no response and they got a reward. Sunwing people complain there service was better they had two lines to check in . They were at the Hotel everyday not Air transit or Hola Sun

Amazing Resort

Truly enjoyed every moment at this resort. Every staff member was courteous but more importantly they were genuine. The resort is well kept especially the gardens and the beach is wonderful. I will be returning for sure.

Great resort 4th. trip to Cuba and this is by far the best

this is an awesome resort for Cuba, well maintained,rooms are very nice and kept clean, modern faculities,staff very helpful and friendly, food is very good and a good variety, pools are excellent and cleaned daily as the walking paths and pool area. One thing I would like to see is umbrellas for the sun, they have sun beds and half have a top but there are not enough and they are gone so fast in the morning, towels on them and half of them are empty until the afternoon

Beautiful Resort

Pros: The hotel is beautiful and well maintained. No musty smells and the cleaning staff is constantly working. Beach is gorgeous with lots of seating (if you want an umbrella / palapa you have to get up at 6 am to reserve, but if you are fine with just chairs there are plenty to go around). Mixed drinks - weren't good, made differently at each bar, no fun drinks for the kids or fun drinks for adults. Man playing accordian on beach singing at tops of lungs Music too loud at pool from 10 am to 4 pm daily.

Amazing resort and staff

This hotel is definitely a beautiful place to stay especially the vip section the staff there are absolutely wonderful and make your stay feel like your royalty the elite restaurant staff are unbelievably the best your every wish is there command outstanding the butlers in the vip section and I mean all of them are incredible the way they take care of you the vip bar is the nice little hideaway from the day very relaxing beautiful greetings when you enter and leave they make you feel like your h [... read more]ome away from home all in all this whole hotel and the staff are phenomenal.

A wonderful time!

This is a super clean, meticulously maintained resort with everything you need for a wonderful vacation! There are a few pools, a few restaurants, a beautiful beach, live-music going on all the time in various places. There’s a kareoke bar, a disco, a market with vendors available some days, a gift shop, games room, etc. Truly everything you need. I was hoping to pick shells and I didn’t see any except some really tiny ones, but that’s ok. The water is a bit chilly at the time of year we were there (end of February), but it’s worthwhile to hop in. The beach closer to the VIP section is the nicest in my opinion. So super clean. We spent some time on the other side of the beach one day near the end of the day and there were a lot of cigarette butts in the sand which is not the staffs fault, there are ash trays literally everywhere but people weren’t using them and just throwing the butts in the sand, which I found very sad and disrespectful to both the environment and the staff. The staff and the hotel tries its best, and there are always workers about cleaning things non-stop. I would recommend coming to the beach earlier in the day and going to the far end near the VIP section/ snack bar if you’re worried about stepping on cigarette butts. It’s gorgeous through everywhere. The pools are beautiful, we mainly spent time at the main pool. There seems to be Zumba everyday in the morning there and sometimes live music. They had a foam party one day that was lots of fun! The pools are super clean and wonderful. If you can score a sun bed it is the ultimate in relaxation! We were able to hang out in a cabana a couple of times during our stay and we got one of the sun beds one day as well. These are both such nice places to relax. The swim up bar is fun, there’s a little jacuzzi type pool too with jets that’s nice to relax in. The pools are great! My birthday was on the Saturday we were on vacation and the staff went above and beyond. They baked me a cake, sang me happy birthday and gave me a bottle of sparkling wine. So sweet. I felt very spoiled! A lot of people complain about the food in Cuba but I always found something to eat at this resort. I ate a lot of rice, beans, salad and fruit. I really enjoyed the omelettes every morning, pancakes, scrambled eggs. The shish kabobs were really good too. The chicken dishes at the a la cartes were really good, and the spaghetti was really good as well. I liked the food and I loved the service by all staff who were excellent. The only issue I have is that we were really hoping to get to the Japanese a la carte but we were told when we came that it was booked solid but that we could come on Sunday morning to see if we could get a reservation for it for the following week. The lady at the desk mixed up the days though, she told us Sunday and it was actually Sunday so by the time we came back early Sunday morning to book, the Japanese restaurant had been fully booked again. So, for anyone reading, please remember it’s Saturday and not Sunday when the following weeks reservations start to book. I really wish I had known. It was a very unfortunate mix up. We had friends who went to the Japanese restaurant and they said it was amazing! I was really hoping to get there for my birthday. We went to the roof top bar a couple of times and it is lovely! If you’re going, make sure to go when the sun is setting to see the spectacular sun set! Also, try the daiquiri! It tastes like slushy lemonade and the price is very reasonable at $2.75 US. The marguerita was only very good, very authentic. My partner had the mojitos there and they were delicious too! It’s a beautiful spot. Both times we went it wasn’t crowded either, so it’s a nice place to relax. Also, it’s important to note that there are no bugs anywhere!! Seriously! This was a big concern of mine! I read a lot of resort reviews before choosing this place and I saw all kinds of reviews about bugs from other hotels. I saw horror stories about cockroaches in food, bed bugs, sand lice causing rashes all over people’s bodies, mosquitos, noseums. THERE ARE NO BUGS HERE! I saw one large cricket at the top of a stair well one day, and also a couple of flying things in the middle of the day at the pool that looked like honey bees. But that’s really nothing! This hotel is truly spotless. Some nights I was out at the kareoke bar until 3am and I didn’t see any mosquitos even. So, if you don’t like creepy crawlies, this place is for you! With all the outdoor space and gardens I thought I would see more bugs but no. This is a wonderful, big free zone and I think most of Holguin may be like this. But it could just be that this hotel is super great at cleaning, which I do definitely think is part of it. Also, the rooms are beautiful, comfortable and very clean. The AC is very cold unless you adjust the temp, but you can do that yourself as there is a thermostat in the room. The room has central air too which is nice. Oh, also. Your bed will come with just a sheet. There is a cover in the closet! We didn’t realize this and were very chilly the first night. The closet also has comfy bath robes. Make sure to find that blanket before you go to bed! Lol. Overall, this was our first time being to Cuba and we absolutely loved both Cuba and this resort. We met some new friends while there and had a great time! Just as a small heads up, just because I didn’t read this in any review prior to coming, I thought I’d mention that we experienced a few black outs during the week we were there. It isn’t a big deal, it did affect the lights and the wifi. It is not an issue with the hotel, it is an issue with the region in general. One of the black outs happened about 15 minutes after we had arrived at the hotel around 7:30pm when it was already fully dark outside, we had just got into our room and I was just opening my suitcase as everything went pitch black. Because I wasn’t aware of the black outs I didn’t know what was going on. The black out didn’t last long, we just went into the lobby where it was a little brighter for a bit. I was just really taken by surprise. Then there was another black out for a few hours during the day one day, and another one that happened just as we were getting to the breakfast buffet. The generator went on at the buffet but then as I was waiting for an omelette the generator went off. The staff are really awesome though. The man at the omelette station still made my omelette with the power off, which is definitely above and beyond service! Anyhow, it’s not a big deal at all, I just wish I had known about the possibility that black ours could happen so I wasn’t so surprised the first time. It’s definitely manageable and it wouldn’t have stopped me from coming to the hotel. Here are some suggestions for food and drink that I have based on our stay: Drinks: - pina coladas are delicious - rum punch - mojito - there was a blue drink I received one day when I ordered a rum punch and it was amazing, I’m sure someone knows how to identify it, lol - daiquiri (roof bar) - margherita (roof bar) Food: - tuna sandwich at the snack bar - omelette - the fried eggs are cooked perfectly - pizza (if you can get it) - shish kabobs - mushroom soup (a la carte) - minestrone soup ( a la carte - curry chicken (international restaurant) - spaghetti bolognese (at Italian a La carte) - minestrone soup - all the rice - chicken Gordon blue (inside snack bar during the day- it’s the international restaurant at night) Anyhow, I always found food I liked. There’s lots to choose from! The only thing I would bring with me is butter packets as I do like to butter my bread, rolls and mayonnaise is not something I’m interested in doing this with. Overall, if you’re on the fence, just book this place, it’s beautiful, clean, amazing with everything you need to have fun and relax! You will fall in love with the beach, and Cuba!

Beautiful resort and beach but that's where it stops

There are many issues with the resort. For starters they reuse plastic cups and don't properly wash them. They just rinse them under cold water and reuse them. Same with glassware at the terrace bar on the beach. After coming home I'm sick and can't help but wonder if that had something to do with it The food is lacking majorly. They didn't care to make a decent coffee, and would constantly lie about mojito being "finish". The hotel itself, the grounds, and the beach are beautiful so it's a real shame that the management or rather the mismanagement of the hotel ruined our vacation. P.S. i had requested rooms close to each other for my 84 year old dad. They claim they didn't get a note about it so that one is on you trip central.

New resort with a magnificent beach!

The resort is modern, well design and very clean. The rooms are large and spacious and very comfortable, furniture is very new, clean and works well. High speed internet is available everywhere. The food is acceptable compared to other hotels. There were almost all kinds of meat and vegetables in the buffet. All kinds of drinks, red wine, beer and soft drinks were available. The entertainment at night was not bad, but there were no daytime activities, so the day was boring! The resort area was kept very clean. The elevators worked well and quickly. There were only two or three problems, one was the noise of music and some guests who talk or laugh loud at mid night, and the other was the problem of losing towels around the pool or beach. If the towel is lost, a fine must be paid, and it is not known why the towels are lost( stolen) ?!

Great resort

beautiful resort. Very clean rooms . Nice activities, nice beach but not bery long if you like to walk. Food not great. The cubans people make you feel welcomed. Karaoke jight was rhe best activity. The theater shows were not good

Amazing resort

New beautiful resort, great food selection,very clean, excellent service. Very nice wide beach but not enough chairs. We been there one week but I would definitely stay there for two weeks. We have admired variety of many bushes palms and other plants. Good location.

Amazing Resort

Our vacation at the Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort was incredible... The people are so nice and very helpful... the resort was kept very clean and the service was wonderful.... people say there's a lack of food that's a lie there was a variety of food just no ketchup,variety of jams but there was alot!! I would go back in a second... the only thing that is a downfall for people that have disabilities is alot of stairs to go down to the beach they need to install a ramp.. and not enought chair [... read more]s on the beach... but that would not stop me from going back again next year... Amazing hotel

My husband and I went for first time to this hotel and we just loved it.Food was great.Very clean and excellent service.We really enjoyed our time staying at this hotel and looking forward to come back again .

Exceeded all expectations.Great resort. New and Spotless.

We stayed January 16-23 2023 and the whole experience was great. The resort is new and spotlessly clean. The staff are amazing from the gardeners to the wait staff to the lifeguards. The food is excellent but its Cuba and we did run out of things from time to time but nothing that took away from the experience at all. We stayed in a standard king room which was beyond our expectations, new and very modern. We spent most of our time at the beach which is one of the nicest beaches we have visited, [... read more] white sand tourquoise water and decent snorkling right off the beach. Other highlights were the Japanese and seafood restaurants as well as Cuba day where they do an outdoor pig roast. Fantastic.

Great resort

We have been to Cuba a few times before just not to this resort, so we did have an idea what to expect in Cuba but it was pre-pandemic. Was there for an inexpensive & relaxing vacation first time since 2020. The resort was very clean, outside grounds as well as in the lobby/restaurants. Yes there are elevators in the buildings but sometimes they were out of order. Also if you are diabetic Cuba may not be the place for you. No diet pop whatsoever. We did ask our rep as well as every bartender and all replied the same, no sorry none available on the island. We were willing to leave the resort to go shopping for some but nope not available. You must remember you are in Cuba and some food and some daily personal need items may not be available, they are still trying to recover from the pandemic. Felt very safe there. Canadian money is preferred. Toonies and loonies not so much but the bills are. They will take u.s. money also. Overall it was a great trip.

Amazing Resort

just returned from Gran Muthu Almirante, it was amazing. The resort is spotless. Our room was Oceanview and we had a beautiful view. I believe the quality of food was 5 star quality we were able to have seafood, chicken, cheese, bread, butter etc at every meal. They had cleaning staff always cleaning for fingers prints. As much as the resort was full it never felt crowd. The lobby bar has entertainment and great service 24 hrs a day. But they are never busy but still beautiful. 24 hr beach restaurant is really nice as well. It's a very family resort. The buffet is great. The restaurants are super. Everyone is so friendly and helpful I recommend it highly and can not wait to go back

Great resort

The hotel was great ,service and staff were great, my family and I had a great experience. Definitely coming back again. Daily intertainment . The location is good. The staff tries their level best to accommodate the guests. Many thanks .
