Challenge is the supplies in Cuba. No premium alcohol, only local rum available. Same with food selection. If they solve the supply-chain problem, this hotel could easy take the 5 star title!

Melia Las Dunas: Great resort, enjoyed it very much

Beautiful grounds with lots of trees and bushes. Gardeners do a great job! Excellent beach. The food is simple but good tasting and nothing to complain about. Restaurants are very good with regular food elevated to new level, much enjoyed.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing

Amazing service, clean, safe, overall we had a great time and I totally recommend it. Couple recommendations for the hotel just add more pizza or snacks, it’s all. ……………………………………………………….:.::::………….

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Disappointed 😔

Honestly, disappointed with this resort having been to Cuba many times, one being in February last year during the pandemic. I thought this was to be one of the better resorts in Varadero. The service and room was ok. Grounds could use some upkeep, beach chairs are old, beach not maintained daily or at all I believe during our stay. Buffet not sanitary or clean in my opinion. Some days no bread, or cheese, no chicken or beef, pizza or fries. Burgers and hotdogs came in the last day. Mainly rice, beans, pork. No vodka, tequila, white wine or champagne. Hard to get a glass of red wine. Having been to Cuba I was not going for the food, I was going for the beach which is beautiful. For a 5 star resort not being welcomed with a cocktail upon arrival was disappointing. Will eventually go back to Cuba, but will give them time to recover from Covid and food/drink shortages.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Very peaceful and relaxing resort

My wife and myself recently spend ten great days in Paradisus princess del mare, wether and beach were amazing like usually,staff very friendly and helpfully , if someone complains about food, I suggest go to Antigua (we went there in March, for seven days we had only burgers & hotdogs).Special thanks to costumer service office team Jorge,Yardley&Lily for arranging my wife’s 65 birthday celebration.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: we loved this resort

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: worst resort i ever visit

this was the worst resort i ever visited. The food was really bad, it was always recycled from the morning, afternoon and evening in the buffett. The only thing we could eat was eggs and pasta. No salad dressing was avaliable for the salad bar, so we had to have a salad dry, not very good. The room was not very clean, the maid only dumped the bathroom garage bin, did not clean the bathroon vanity or even sweep up in the room but the worst of this room was the showers, NO HOT WATER, getting a c [... read more]old shower was not very nice, how are you supposed to get a shower after being at the beach or pool all day and go to get cleaned up but no hot water and a cold shower is very hard to do because you can't stand the cold water. The king size bed was not very comfortable, very lumpy, the springs was almost coming though the mattress which result in my lower back and hip pain, the pillows were very flat, uncomfortable to sleep on, lying flat on the bed, neck pain as a result. I will not recommend this resort to anyone. it only had one small shop on the resort but it did not get any snacks like chips, bar or drinks if you were hungry during the day and believe me i needed snacks, i did not eat very much for the seven days we were there, this caused me to spend two days in the rooms feeling unwell. So as a result, this will be my last trip to Cuba for some time, bad experience with this resort.

Melia Las Dunas: Awesome Lobby Bar!

It’s a long drive from the airport to the hotel, (approx 2 hrs by the time you drop off others at various hotels) but the resort grounds are absolutely beautiful and nicely manicured. The lobby bar is excellent and a large gathering spot where there is always entertainment, including violinists, sax players, singers etc. the food is not bad for Cuba and essentially plentiful when we were there the week of Apr21. Some minor shortages like milk a day or two. Not all restaurants were open. The a [... read more]la Cartes were ok but nothing special. The beach and pools are awesome. Virtually no sargassum. It’s a place where you go for the beach and pool with little close by activities. Hotels have Catamarans, paddle boats ands kayaks but that’s all. Overall, we would go back for the beach and relaxation.

Paradisus Varadero: Nice resort aging now.

Resort was nice but it’s getting older and needs plumbing work on it’s ocean view rooms. They booked us into a flooded room for our first night which was a bit scary as we arrived at midnight. We had to move a second time due to our toilet flooding. Many Miskitos here as well. The staff are all nice.

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing week

My 20 year old daughter and I spent an amazing week in the Lagoon Room block 2 on the 2nd floor. Room: clean, comfortable beds, hot showers, no musty smell, beautiful view of lagoon and sunset. Water and other beverages were stocked daily. Buffet & restaurants: Plenty of food, eggs at buffet or 24 hour snack bar any way you want it. Lots of options for veggies, pasta, chicken, pork, fish, fruit, dessert. Drinks: some areas on resort carried frozen options such as pina colada or Daqueri  [... read more]while others didn’t but there was no shortage of beverages. Grounds, Pool, Beach: simply beautiful! Well manicured grounds, clean and cared for, pool was blue and clear and you can’t beat the white powdered sands and crystal blue water in Cayo Coco. Entertainment and staff: Amazing!! Can’t say enough about how hard they work and how energetic they are to ensure you have an enjoyable vacation. We will definitely return.

Melia Marina Varadero: Stay Away From This Resort, Not A 5 Star

Stay Apr 15-22 This resort definitely not a 5 star as advised. The food and service were horrible, breakfast, lunch and dinner were the same in the buffet, the over cooked chicken wings, pumpkin, cabbage and the white beans. I never ate this much pumpkin and cabbage in my life, though there were grilled fish for 3 nights, and grilled chicken breast nightly, I'm not a white meat fan, so never tried the grilled chicken, the fish was good, this is the only food I like, but long line up. There a [... read more]lso a pasta place so you can order pasta. One think I don't understand is why we cannot carry a purse or backpack in the buffet, they afraid we will steal the food in the bag? This place need lots of maintenance, one night was raining, I was waiting for the pasta, and water was leaking from the ceiling, I was complaining loud to myself that I can't believe it this is a 5 star resort, then a lady over heard me and started to complain her room no hot water, toilet paper, and the water is not draining. luckily our toilet was broken only once, and got fixed, but the phone was not working, we reported, but never got fixed. It was a hassle that we had to walk to the front desk to reset the wifi every time when it exceeded the 5 hours limit. The so call mini bar had 2 cokes and a big bottle of water. One morning we were still sleeping, the guy knocked on the door to drop off the cokes and water, he didn't wait for our permission to allow him to enter and he just walked in. I was so mad and complaint at the front desk, then never received the water and cokes again. There was 1 a la carte restaurant every night, but you cannot booked in advance, you need to book in the morning and only 40 seats available. The front desk said they starting to take order at 8, and everybody was waiting and the person didn't show up after 9. If you come late, you're out of luck. It was a terrible experience in the restaurant, we didn't get served for 1/2 hour after we got seated, not even a water and manual. We were looking at them walking by without an acknowledgement. I was running out of patience and shouted out loud for service, then got their attention. After we ordered, another 1/2 hour for the food, and it came so slow between the appetizer, entree, and dessert. The food was so bad, all I can taste is salty, I just had 1 bite, didn't wait for the dessert and left. This is my first time in Cuba, and do not have high expectation for the food, but kind of surprised to receive this lousy service, tips cannot motivate them. Basically everyone we met no one is satisfied with this resort. We will not return to this resort ever again. They offered free drinks at the beach, and the beach was gorgeous, that's the only think I like about Cuba.

Sol Palmeras: Lovely Resort

We went mid-April 2023. Enjoyed the long walks on beautiful beach. The nightly entertainment was really good. In the dining buffet room, the staff was courteous and friendly. Lots to do: kayaking, sailboat, pedal boats, We had a standard room: very clean but furniture is dated. Overall we were satisfied. Would go back.

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Decent resort

This review is strictly our personal opinion. We do not recommend anything to anyone because every person has its own priorities and ideas about good and bad vacation. My wife and myself had stayed at this resort 10 years ago. It was in a very desperate condition. Recent reviews were saying WOW about newly renovated hotel SOL. It is a way exaggerated. The resort was reopened at the end of Nov.22 and it seems that everything was done in a hurry. Everything was repainted with ugly white pai [... read more]nt which seems to be just super cheap or expired primer paint. In many places you touch the painted surface and you can see traces of paint on your fingers. Inside the room ( We have seen three) the surfaces of the entrance doors and sliding doors to the washroom are all hand stained and maids do not care to do anything about it. The rooms however were renovated. It is true. Only some rooms have new AC. Most AC are old and it is a good chance that you get a bad one. We had to change our room once due to non-functional AC. In general, if everything is functional, we do not care much about rooms and grounds. Our priority is deep enough ocean to swim. This is the oldest resort on CSM and it has the best spot in regards of the ocean. Beach is cleaned very badly. Over two weeks period we have seen only one person that tried to clean the beach which is probably about 500 m long. He seemed to be more preoccupied to hang around naturist beach to collect his tips for cleaning beach chair. The beach of neighbouring resort Melia Cayo Santa Maria was cleaned by 7:30 every morning. Probably 80% of tourists are going to naturist beach but they have only 20% of the hotel beach dedicated to them. Why not let people enjoy the whole beach the way they want. Btw, there are many tourist that coming to sunbath on SOL naturist beach from other resorts. We stayed at textile section of the beach which was mostly empty, no loud music at all but gentle whisper of the ocean - perfect! 32 times in Cuba (all over Cuba) and we have never had any problems with food. In fact, we consider Cuban food way better that Canadian food which is full of artificial flavors, antibiotics, trans fats and God knows what other chemicals. The official statistics says that 65% - 70% of adult Canadian population is obese. Maybe it is because of "great Canadian food"? Everyone is tipping with Canadian coins, which workers later exchange to bills with the help of tourists. A quite efficient system. The choice of alcohol was very satisfactory: rum, beer, red whine, "river" of Spanish champagne. We do not care much about mixed drinks. This is not party resort, thanks God. Mostly older people. Again, no kids. We do not care about pool. With resort capacity of 300 something rooms there was about 90 -100 tourists according to the receptionist. The number is going down as she said. Again, perfect for us. It is was a very first time that we have ever seen managers eating in a buffet (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and drinking in the bar. I guess, everything is perfect at the resort and there is absolutely nothing else left to do. One more thing. The English of the personnel is extremely limited or nonexistent. Not sure about French. Most tourists are from Quebec. Despite all the mentioned negatives, we will return to this resort when the price is right.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Wonderful hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at luna marrs as all ways even with only half open and supply shortages. Our 13th trip and will go back. Our trouble was with air transit after driving 3 hours to airport thay delay the flight 14 hours. 1st notice was when we dropped off our baggage 3 hours ahead. Next morning at check in thay gave us meal slips to be used at the airport .we already had breakfast and these expired the next day. Thay should of been useable on air transit plain. Melia Jardines del Rey: Very Disappointed !!!

Had many trips to Cuba over the years. This has been by far the worst. 1. Paid for selected seats to and from Cuba. Seatbelt on plane not working. 2. Hotel was far from being at full capacity although they stuck us in a dirty room way in the back of resort facing a dirty field. 3. We upgraded to another room. Entrance to room was filthy, would not touch the hand rail on stairs. 4. No hot water for showering 3 days out of 7 5. Same towels 3 days in a row 5. Buffet was  [... read more]disgusting!!! Nothing but hundreds of black house flies all over the food, tables and floors. 6. Staff would not make eye contact with you unless you flashed money in front of them. We travelled South close to 40 times. We are not hard people to please. We will definitely never go back to Cuba !!!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Don't go

I just got back from this resort a few days ago.Im not sure what has happen to cuba but I don't remember the rudeness and lack of food.I could always find something to eat but not this time..It was terrible. Japanese the best. But only al le carts allowed.. Rooms were out dated. Maid was lazy skipped days of cleaning and never changed bedding. I love cuba but this was the worst.

Stay was from April 2nd-9th 2023 Upon arrival my husband and I noticed that the lobby was dark and uninviting and there was no one to greet us. We've stayed at many all inclusive resorts in the last 15 years and were always greeted and given complimentary drinks and we did not have that experience here. But what I really appreciated was when we were displeased with our initial room the concierge at the front desk "Flex" gave a new room with no issue. In terms of the food I appreciated the  [... read more]variety that the a la carte had. The buffet dining area needed more space between tables but the food itself I'd give 4 /5. The beach and the water were both breathtaking! and the accessibility was easy. The entertainment was phenomenal, especially the night shows in the pool! It had both myself and my husband grinning from ear to ear and giddy to see the spectacles. I booked myself a massage and I was disappointed with the session, it was absolutely terrible. The atmosphere didn't feel professional, the masseuse played music from her phone and the environment felt cluttered and closed in. The spa needs to be updated, it did not feel like a spa in any regard, there were no candles and no ambiance of any kind. The masseuse also was in a rush to go home so she didn't give me a satisfying massage. In the middle of our week we were walking in the hotel and stumbled upon a customer service office where the employees that worked there were kind and we really appreciated their attentiveness to how we felt about our trip so far. For the most part the staff was friendly and tended to our needs. In terms of the room service, the fridge was never restocked with pop only water and when we made that aware to the staff they had assured us that they would restock but they never did. I'm not sure if everyone was new but the front desk employees need more training in customer service. When we were checking out and returning our keycards there was not a care in the world of how our stay went or questions about how we felt about our stay.

It was our third time at this hotel and our best. The hotel rooms were freshly painte, new air connditinners (sitent), and the grounds were well kept and overall the hotel very clean (and rooms serviced every day). The food (buffet, outdoor grill, cafe, restaurants) were excellent; there was ample fresh vegetables (letice, tomatoes, cucombers, squash, aubergine...) and grilled fish of all types, chicken, pork, beef and seafood, and great deserts.... we lacked of nothing. Melia Las Dunas: Wonderful Vacation

We had a wonderful 2 week vacation on this beautiful resort. Our room was clean and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful & well maintained. The food was good. The beach is beautiful. The staff including Allyea, Lily, Yosneil, & Amaria in the lobby bar, Barbra in the bbq, Frank & Nuriely in the Buffet, Yari our housekeeper, and gardeners Hector & Mickey were amazing.
