Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Half of the resort is open

The grounds & resort & people are beautiful. They are just starting to run things back up again after covid, half the resort was open. There is a food shortage & it really shows on the resort, same food everyday.

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Better than expected

Don’t believe the bad reviews! This place is beautiful. Food was delicious, no matter how picky you are you will find plenty of choices. Public areas washrooms are really clean, our room was well taken care of every day. The isn’t much to complain about. People are really friendly over there. Paradisus Los Cayos: A lot to desire

This is definitely not a 5 star hotel. I would give it more like 3.5 stars, and that would be a bit too much. The Pros: The beach, Cuban coffee, the weather (lucky us!). The Cons: The price we paid for this hotel was not worth it. Food was no where close to a five star. Not even for one day we had deserts, except ice cream. Cleanliness was missing. Rooms were smelling of smoke, pool water was not cleaned even once. Broken glass in the pool and the beach bar area. Even after letting [... read more] the staff know, we cleaned that up ourselves because kids were running around. Very hazardous. Kids slides looked different than what you see on the picture, run down and unsafe. Alcohol choice was limited, and on some days they ran out of beer. There was a definite language barrier, as most employees do not speak any other language but Spanish. The worst part of the trip were the cockroaches, in the kitchen/ buffet area, on the trays with food in them. Maids were sweeping them off with a broom and that looked like a normal thing for them to do. I would not be returning to this hotel, nor recommend it to someone else. After speaking with other tourists from other hotels on our way back to the airport, they seemed to have had a better experience with cheaper hotels nearby. Clean, no cockroaches, lots of deserts, and friendly staff... and they never ran out of beer! Thanks to Adrian(buffet) and Jannet (kids entertainment) for making it somewhat better experience.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Love this resort

Good room and close to main building. Clean and wonderful and friendly staff. Fantastic beach with lots of marine life. Food was good although there was little in the way of vegetables. Wine was plentiful and flowing.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great Value

Went last Week Of Oct 2022, Paid $645 for an all inclusive, rooms were clean, but a bit outdated, but was ok,,fridge was restocked if you wanted with bottled water,,but no beer in fridge..food was ok,,your not going to get alot of food options,,but for sure the basics were there..lunch, supper,,pasta, meats,,pork,beef and chicken daily cooked in front of you,,every 2nd day shrimp was cooked,,,,in my many years of travel,,3 days out of the trip, they did not offer eggs,,guessing shortage,,so they [... read more] made pancakes instead,,which was good,,,cooks do a great job here and work very hard...went to a couple of la carts,,international and the grill, was really surprised they had a full lobster,,,beach , i heard from the time of season,,was a fair amount of seaweed,,but staff did there best to get rid of it...nice long walks on beach if you wanted...overall for what i paid,,great value,,would recommend...only downfall, is the 1 hour and 45 minute drive to the hotel...

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful resort

Hotel is gorgeous. And the people are very friendly. The food was good,,the chefs deserve an apprentice to help with the rushes of people. I think the bed was infested with bedbugs. I was was very bitten I think the bug spray that we bought was something they liked.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Great place for vacation

Great place to stay, make you feel wanted, warm reception, food is good for Cuba, very nice beach, from the moment you book in your looked after and in style. Can’t say enough about our personal attendants Javier and wife Marie Rosa. They went out of their way to look after us both, because of our age we had a couple of difficult moments but they took care of everything can’t thank them enough.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: A great stay.

Had a great week at the Royalton Cayo Santa Maria a couple of weeks ago. A hidden gem. The resort is lovely as is the beach. It's smaller, adults only with lots of shady palapas. All meals are a la carte (no buffet). There's not a lot of choice but all meals are well prepared, presented, and tasty. Definitely one of the best in the 12 visits to Cuba all inclusives that I've had over the years. And a review would not be complete without mentioning how welcoming the staff are: from the gar [... read more]deners and security personnel to the concierge/butler, maid and wait staff. Director Alejandro was always out and about, talking to and checking on his guests. A shout out to Alina, the maid, butlers Diana and Lester who looked after reservations and special requests/concerns, and waitress Marisol who you would be sure to meet. We have booked an encore: another week in November!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Awesome Place

We just got back Dec 30. Everything was great. Beautiful grounds. The staff is amazing. We met many friends there. Plan on returning again soon. I am also keeping in touch with a few of the staff through face book.

Paradisus Los Cayos: Great resort

Nice room, the beach is beautiful, the main swimming pool was a bit small. The bigger swimming pool was a bit far and there was no facilities there. I suppose the hotel provides lots of small pools in front of the accomodations that is why. Fish and shrimps were missing completely . Lack variety of food especially at Lunch and dinner buffet. Staff were very courteous and nice. The night shows were very good and interesting.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Resort review

Impeccable landscape , for the most part friendly staff , we all know the food tradition , large welcoming rooms , issues with sink and toilet , unable to exchange beach towel for 4 days … hand sanitation and soap dispensers in public washrooms for the most part empty … makes you wander about the staff cleanliness … also met people that had paid a lot less for their vacation .

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing stay at Grand Sirenis!!!

We stayed at this hotel for seven day and absolutely loved the stay. The staff and entertainment team were very welcoming and created a fun environment to enjoy. The bartender at the bar located before the beach, Adonis and Yasniel, were great, very friendly and attentive. As well as Miguel the bartender and Jesus the chef at the 24/7 snack bar they went above and beyond. Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Not crazy about resort

People are wonderful, staff réception and at the bars maids etc.very lovely. Food was not too good but that could be due to availability. Very repetitive items. Pools too noisy with djs yelling to get ppl pumped up and often too loud music. Same at the beach. Rooms were clean.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Sanctuary

Hi Heather, We need to bring a disconcerting experience to your attention. We were encouraged by Sunwing to book by a given date in order to be upgraded to Memories Sanctuary at no additional cost. However, upon arrival in Cuba, we discovered that of the three Memories Resorts, the Sanctuary was the only one opened. We were grossly misled into booking early and manipulated into thinking that we were getting a deal. Furthermore, we missed out on subsequent promotions by Sunwing’s competitor [... read more]s. The Grand Aston was a great resort. We just came back and we were there on the off season. The staff were extremely nice and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The entertainment crew was great. We enjoyed watching the nightly shows and then hanging out with them every night until security shut down the party!

Like all the Royalton there's a certain reputation to live up too. There was no difference with the Royalton at Cayo Santa Maria. The room was very generous in size, bed linens were excellent. The sunken bathtub and stand up shower added to the ambience of the room. AC worked great and all over cleanliness was impeccable. The staff at this resort were amazing. Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Coral section of Iberostar Ensenachos

Bungalow section on the beautiful Ensenachos beach is amazing, my husband and I enjoyed our 4th stay in the coral section of this resort. We had also stayed in the spa section 3 times. It is wonderful staying in your own house in a quiet setting near the beach. The resort is immaculate, looks freshly painted. In the coral section, you can enjoy your meals in 2 restaurants. Our favourite is the beach restaurant at lunch time. Lots of good food! In the main restaurant near the pool can have for su [... read more]pper lobster bisque, Cuban soups, lobster tails, fish, steak, lamb, chicken and other choices daily. You can also eat at other restaurants in the main section of the resort. The mocha cakes at the buffet section of the resort were so delicious. The goods: - Hotel was build around 3 years ago, it's very modern. - Arrived at hotel and was upgraded for free to a suit without request. - Complete hotel extremely clean. - Rooms have colorful light show to memorize your eyes. - Staff are so professional and curtious. - Took a massage $27 usa / 1 hour, amazing price and quality. - I returned a second time to Cayo Santa Maria cause they have in my opinion the most beautiful sand beach. - Got free wifi for all guests all week cause h [... read more]otel is used at 15%. - Very safe place. No thieves. The less goods: - Didn't appreciate having to wipe my face at the table with paper toilet provided by waiters. - Staff only speak Spanish and 10% English. - I could never serve myself, always feeling obligated to give tips, while not getting what i want. - Food always cold. Hardly any fruits, no vegetables except two last days saw cucumber and tomatoes. Mostly fried food and (sausage, salamies, bacon, cheese, rice, eggs). Surrounded by ocean but no fish on menu, except 1 night lobster tail. Pizza crust is a hard thin pita bread. Felt really hungry half the time. Buffet on certain evenings is closed and only a la carte restaurant. Spoke to high manager about food on last day, he says they are struggling with orders not coming in. Spoke to other guests in hotel, they paid extra for seafood buffet all week, that is not advertised. So hotel are able to have seafood, no excuse. - Some of the chairs in room were destroyed but left there. - Takes a bit of time for hot water to come. - Service is slow, waited 1 hour for butter. - Night entertainment are of lower quality, not everyone can see the show cause of the posts and people in the way. - Ordered brevages to room, but never got what I ordered, pretty easy asking coke or beer can for fridge, but not getting it. - There are maps, but 60% of hotel is closed. Every time directed towards a closed gym, closed massage. Struggled to find areas. Map not clear.

Excellent resort, friendly staff, very clean. Beach was amazing. Lots of activities, nightly shows. Excursions were reasonably priced. Rooms are large, clean and welcoming. Always lots of hot water. Food was plentiful and good.

This may definitely sound like a fake review, but it really isn't. We traveled with zero expectations of what we will find there. We wanted a clean room, not to starve, and a good swimming spot! the experience blew us out of the water! Grand Memories hotel was closed for renos and we got upgraded to Sanctuary, adults-only side. The room was clean and the shower had great pressure and scolding hot water if you needed it. The cleaning ladies were super nice! The staff is super friendly and always willing to help and make your stay memorable! The food was great too -- you do have to realize it is Cuba and if you're a picky eater, maybe that is not for you. They had a vast variety of items to satisfy everyone, both hot and cold, and made to order. They had lots of fruits, salads and cold drinks. There were also 2 spots on the beach to get lunch "off the grill" if you wanted to (burgers, hot dogs, seafood and rice dish). I've been told Cuba has good coffee and I totally agree!! they even had ice coffee from the slushy machine. The lattes, ice caps and guava juice were our go-to drinks... The bartenders could spin some very delicious alcoholic drinks as well! You feel appreciated and taken care of on a personal level, even though they cater to so many other guests as well.
