Riu Republica: Excellent resort

This resort was beautiful, a lot of food selection which taste really good. Staff was really friendly and hard workering. Only thing I didn’t like was the music at the club on resort. Played the same music every night and selection wasn’t really great. Also they need to have music playing at each bar where people have drinks. Some had no music? Two had music to put someone to sleep. Grounds were very nice, Good drinks and rooms weren’t bad either minus the musty smell. Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Too Big to give good service

This hotel was much bigger than I expected. It is actually 7 resorts. We paid extra for the Royal Golden but were quickly disappointed in what that meant. When we arrived they didn't have us listed and we waited 5 and a half hours to get into a room. We got an extra night dinner as a Royal Golden member but they couldn't fit us anywhere we wanted, so we settled for another 9:30 dinner at the only place available. When I mentioned that I wasn't feeling very Royal Golden, they kept telling me t [... read more]hat we would get slippers and a bath robe, a small bottle of rum and chocolates. (and that we are closer to the Beach) No rooms face the ocean. We actually got to look at the top of the workers shed all week that had garbage on the roof. There was a small bottle of rum but no chocolates (whatever). The last day they sent a fruit basket to our room in the evening (to make up for the chocolates?) which was nice except we had to check out at 8 am the next morning, so it wasn't even touched. The staff didn't speak English and were not too helpful...I heard "That's not possible" a few times my first day. Good luck getting thru to the front desk or concierge. On a positive, the food was good, the beach was beautiful, once you got passed the hundreds of chairs lined up. We made the best of it, but I will never return.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great value for this Resort

The grounds were beautiful. The rooms were extremely nice and the maids did a great job cleaning them. Loved the butler service with the essential oils . The Don Pablo Restaurant was amazing. Buffets were good. Good selection of food . My only complaint were the drinks inconsistent never tasted the same. They were always running out of something mojitos..dirty monkeys etc. Celeste at the lively pool made pretty good drinks and was always smiling . Whala Bavaro: Fantastic

Resort is spotless, food is great and varied. Beach is s bit cramped but you can walk up and down to other areas. Staff are so nice with no pressure to tip. We had a suite which was so nice. Hard to find coffee however.

: WOW Amazing Resort

I would recommend this place to all. The rooms were amazing (Junior Suite) king bed, double sink in the bath with a 2 person Jacuzzi on the deck. Room service. fridge fully stocked daily. The resort itself has 3 pools. 1 for sports,1 for family and 1 for adults only. Nice beach with bar open till 5am with snacks all night. Games in pools all day to keep you entertained. The food was awesome all the way around. Great selection at the buffet and no booking of A la carte just show up any evening [... read more]. Only downfall was the entertainment. First night was great but after that it was just ok. Beer house was good too had to buy beer but could get just about any kind you wanted. Had a pool room wit.h arcade for the kids also. People very friendly and do anything for you. Vendors were good if you said no they went away never bugged. Did a buggie excursion was a lot of fun and reasonably priced. Very clean resort with excellent staff.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great value

Great value Rooms at the resort were extremely generous in size. Housekeeping did a fantastic job. À la cart restaurants where well worth the visit. Food was tasty and well presented. Buffet had plenty of options. One pool bar only, no blender. Cocktails were from a slushy machine. Wine was mediocre.

Le Sivory: WOW!!!!

My wife and I just spent 14 days at Le Sivory. It was exactly what we were looking for. A small resort where you can totally relax. Adults only. Quiet and peaceful. Loungers always available either at the pool or at the beach. Great food. Wonderful staff. There are 100 positive reasons why we would go back. There are 2 negatives. The ocean can be quite rough at times. When we were there, not a single day where you could just float.On certain days some of the waves were 6 feet high. There were su [... read more]rfers just to the left of the resort.It was fun for a while. Definitely not the resorts fault, but you constantly had to be watching the waves. The second reason is Le Sivory is exclusive to Sunwing. This was our first time on Sunwing and it will be our last. We would not let the waves keep us from returning. Hopefully, more airlines come into play.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: This resort is not a 4.5 star as advertised

The standard rooms were very below standard, we had to upgrade while we were there. I had bugs in my room. The dining chairs were very damaged. No service anywhere for drinks. the front desk staff was not helpful.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing Family Trip

Our trip was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Trip Central di a fantastic job booking the trip, finding us the right resort and flights for our family. We flew Air Transat direct from Halifax and everything was on time and couldn't be easier. They even upgraded us to Option Plus, which provided food and drink on the plane and priority check in. The transfer from the airport was waiting once we retrieved our bags and we were at the resort with a drink in our hands 15 minutes later. T [... read more]he Melia Caribe was beautiful. Rooms (Family Suite) were very nice, not huge, but very comfortable for a family of 4. The resort itself was great, the food was awesome, the activities for the kids were first class. Pool and beach were fantastic. Only small complaint was we were in villa 1, next to the restaurant and bar, and the party continued to 11pm most nights. No issues, just a little noisy at times. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing Resort

Great resort - this was my 6th time there, and my 2nd this year! The staff treat you like family - the food is good and plentiful - there is something there for everyone! 2 pools, beach front, tennis court, and entertainment area and a Kids club too!

Puerto Plata Village: Fine resort.

The resort was ok it was old but kept up well the staff were very friendly and the food was pretty good. Location was ok I wish it was on the beach but they did a good job with transport to the beach. The room where clean and staff was very accommodating

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Nice, clean resort

The grounds and pools were well maintained and clean. Rooms were basic (not sure what renovated side is like). Often found buffet food was lukewarm. Beautiful view though. Entertainment was average, nothing spectacular.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Amazing Resort

The hotel was excellent, clean, the staff were friendly and very helpful, anything you needed or wanted to know, they were there. The rooms were very clean. The entertainment was excellent, beach was very nice, food was so good. I would highly recommend this resort

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: Beautiful Beach

We arrived early 8n the day, Check in was after 3pm. It was fairly quick as there was only 8 checking in. We did not get the rooms we requested until the next day. Staff was friendly and did what they could do to accommodate us. When we arrived the hotel was having water problems but was fixed asap. Our rooms were nice and clean, 2 bottles of water in the fridge every day. The pools were nice but no swim up bar. The beach was amazing. The food was good, no waiting in line for the a la carte rese [... read more]rvations. Mexican was the best. The wait staff were awesome and the bartenders too! Drinks seemed to be weak. Evening entertainment was lacking. Nothing to do while waiting, no live music to be found. Not worth staying up for. This is a very quite resort. Good for relaxing.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Wonderful Vacation!

This was our 3rd time to this resort. We love it! It felt like our home away from home. So many of the staff we have met before rememered us. They all made us feel special. The food is very good and plentiful. No tummy troubles! The resort is older and in need of some updates. But our rooms were adequate and clean. Our maid Felicia did a wonderful job! Cayo Levantado Resort: The most amazing resort!

My husband and I had a 2 week vacation at Luxury Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado! It was by far the most amazing vacation. We were there to celebrate my 50th birthday and our 10th anniversary! We were blown away, with the incredible service, most beautiful grounds, fantastic food and our beautiful room! Geury, who is the manager of customer service was simply the best! He made special arrangements to surprise us for our special days! Our butlers too were so amazing, kind and so very thoughtful. We were grateful to have Gabriel, the manager for the butlers. Gabriel help me surprise my husband with a heart on the beach, filled with rose petals. So beautiful! He also prepared our room with champagne, balloons and chocolate on our anniversary! Natanael was our other butler who prepared a romantic Jacuzzi with champagne, scented candles and rose petals. He also went beyond expectations and was fabulous! Edgar, Fernando, Lice and Jose were there every day serving us at the pool and beach. There service was greatly appreciated and their kindness was very thoughtful. I have worked in the service industry for over 30 yrs and I can't say enough about the service we received. Outstanding! TRS Turquesa: Very Nice Vacation

We booked a Royal Junior Suite and I emailed the resort with a request to be near the beach and on a lower level (knee problem with stairs). I got room 5011 which is on the bottom floor of building 50 with a nice view of the main pool, very convenient to both the pool and beach. Room had a comfy king bed, deep jacuzzi in room, separate (very large) shower. nice balcony with 2 wooden chairs with pad and table. We could hear the music from the pool area from the balcony which was great, but not fr [... read more]om the room when the balcony doors were closed. Resort was very clean and well maintained. The beach at this resort is beautiful and goes on for miles. There was very little seaweed while we were there, really nice beach for walking and swimming. There is wait service on the beach for both drinks and food. We saw people ordering things from Helios menu and getting them delivered to their lounger. We didn't do this because we like to take a break from the beach or pool at lunch. The pool area is very nice as well and has shaded tables and chairs as well as loungers and huts. The pool bar stays open quite late and has music, so this is an alternative to going to the lobby or the other sections. At night the pool changes colour from blue, green, red, violet etc. very pretty to watch. We really liked that we had the option of ordering from a menu at breakfast, lunch and dinner at both the beach club (Helios) and the gourmet restaurant (Capricho). Both of these restaurants had beautiful (well shaded) outdoor sections as well as indoor - Helios with a view of the beach and ocean, Capricho more a garden setting. During the morning Helios often had live entertainment - violin or saxophone and the rest of the time nice electronic type music which could be hear on the beach area as well. In the evening there was live entertainment on a stage shared by the outdoor sections of Capricho and La Boheme. We went to Helios (favourite thing on menu was crab cakes - which we ordered on several occasions), Capricho (lunch menu changes everyday, plus has a small but very nice buffet as well), Kusko (wonderful Teriyaki Salmon), La Boheme (went twice favourites were French Onion Soup, Cheese Fondue and the Cafe Paris Lobster), Bhogali (delicious Lamb Roghan Josh), Las Torres(wanted to try the main Palace buffet at dinner) and Bohio (once to try the Palace lunch buffet near the beach). We found the food and service to be really good in all of these. We also had the use of all the facilities of the other resorts at the Palladium complex, so we could check out the live entertainment in the other lobbies and their restaurants/bars, but we tended to stay mostly in the TRS Turquesa section because we felt that the quality and service was better and things were more convenient to our room. We really enjoyed our stay and I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend it to anyone.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Best Resort ever!

We are frequent travelers so coming to this resort was a great surprise. This is definitely a 5 star resort! The facilities, the staff, food, entertainment out of this world. Will definitely go back. The fact that we were given access to the neighboring resorts was great. Transportation was available to get around and enjoy other restaurants, shows and the resort. We were sadden that we had to leave, wish we could have extended out stay. Any queries we had was tended to immediately. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Very enjoyable return visit

We just returned from Gran Ventana after a 2 wk stay. We (my wife and I) had a great time. We previously stayed here in 2015. It was nice to see so many familiar faces on the staff. They are without a doubt a very hard working group! We took advantage of the premium upgrade and we feel it was worth the money. The access to the Vintage Club with top shelf liquor and excellent service, private beach area, and additional al la cartes made our stay all the more enjoyable. She arranged all of our restaurants and anything else we needed. Very nice lady! The daily towel exchange in our package was a very nice touch! The food here is fantastic! We ate most of our evening meals at the al la cartes. Great food all around but our favorite was the Italian. The buffet had lots of excellent choices at all meals. The sweets are dangerous. You will gain weight! The service at the al la cartes was excellent. The service at the buffet could be a bit spotty depending on the time of day you arrived or where you happened to sit but we felt it wasn't a big issue .The beach buffet also offered a smaller but excellent choice for lunch. The various soups they had were excellent. Our room was on the 2nd floor of the Saona building with a nice ocean view. Our fridge was replenished daily and the maids kept everything nice and clean with a well stocked supply of bathroom items. Speaking of clean, this resort is one of the cleanest we've every stayed at! To close out, we are glad we returned to Gran Ventana and hope to return again!

Resort was very clean. Very busy resort. Lots of activities by pool and beach. Entertainment was great! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was okay but a la carte was not much different than the main buffet.
