Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: A nice resort for a quiet week

This is a fairly large resort. The grounds are nice, and the staff friendly and smiling. We had a small issue at check in, it was dealt with within minutes. No hassles! Ended getting an upgrade to the oceanfront section, which was amazing. Nice spa, too.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great Resort for Families

I really liked the variety. There was something for everyone. The sea turtles located right at the beach was a bonus. The resort was prompt at addressing any of our needs or concerns. Overall a great vacation. I feel relaxed.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing

Very quite Hotel. Lack of music at main pool and lobby. Hotel shouts down at 11:00 pm! They turn off the lights at Lobby. No live music. Great food. Great staff. Far from Cancun. A la carte reservation is not efficent!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: All round good resort!

Pulling up to this hotel I was in awe. It was so big, the scenery as well as the hotel grounds were kept tidy, there looked like there was so much to do, and the hotel staff were very pleasant and eager to assist you. The pool was fairly large and always clean. A major downside was that throughout the first few days there was no music being played and had to be asked many times by many different people. The staff was very careful and helpful when guiding me through menus or the buffets. As stated before the resort was large. Lots of walking but so much to do!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Veruy good resort

Staff is very friendly, food is good, pool amasing, beach a bit rocky.... The room service could be better but it was ok anyway... Close to Playa del Carmen. We went between adluts only but is great for kids. The gym room is simply amasing !....

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Wonderful Holiday - Nice people, nice resort!

EarlyJanuary 2016- booked with TripCentral (Thank you Eliana for your great service and advice) on Sunwing ... Nexus tours staff on site were very friendly and helpful (Special thanks to Saul & Rafael). Transport a little slow to get organised at the Airport (probably due to late arrival time) and it does take 1 hour to get from Cancun Airport to the Barcelo Maya property. Hotel Check-in process was seamless, the room was very nice and well-appointed although there are not a lot of rooms with a [... read more] full beach view across the four properties on this resort: Beach, Maya, Tropical and Palace. There are great Junior Suites with private balconies, pools and jacuzzi's which face the beach, quite nice and a little overpriced - but may be worth it depending on your preferences. The resort looks big at first but very easy to walk across this properties' pools, restaurants, buffets and beaches, through the large Maya Mall and shopping area (commercial captive market - not cheap but nice...). Free wi-fi between 10 and 12 in the MayaMall only - - or pay per use is 12$ USD daily - this could use a little re-think.... While it's an investment for the resort, it's also a nice-to-have for guests (even though we are on vacation). Great folks we met this week who are deserving of a mention: *Lara & Moises at the Front desk - true professionals and very patient! *Javier at the bell stand - knowledgeable and friendly, lots of advice too! *The Captains across all bufets and restaurants are very 'pro and know their business, but we especially wanted to thank Luis - a very professional, respectful and friendly gentleman who always had time for a chat and share info with us :-) * At the Maya buffet - they're all pretty nice and all very good - but Jobhani and Lorenzo P. were exceptional and stood out in our minds - thank you! A la carte restaurants were all pretty good - this is the 7th Barcelo we've enjoyed over the years (this time without the kids!) and the gourmet restaurant booking process is as expected - book early with guest services to get your preferred seating. Our best experience this time around: Tokyo - the teppanyaki was spectacular and offered best tasting food in the house! Neat stuff like double-decker bus shuttle across the resort, a Dolphin park ($ but you can watch from outside the fence and take great pics'), an extensive water park and surf ride ($), beachside water sports equipment in great condition and easy to book, helpful staff too... Exceptional customer service moment: Our in-room coffee maker didn't work - it was replaced within 4 hours AND: they called our room to make sure we were satisfied and it was in working order, the next day... well done! Entertainment was as expected - the artists clearly train hard and give their best every night - might want to switch it up a little on some of the themes and maybe bring in a local rock band in addition to the excellent Mexican musicians?... the one small irritant we see in pretty much every resort has this MC format - it is pretty standard across resorts but really, you don't need this much MC'ing... it's not a TV show (!) Our one bad experience: La Fuente Spanish restaurant - usually a good meal but this time, the service was disorganized and frankly, the service and attention levels were terrible - maybe having a bad nght? ...slow to order, slow to clean up, absolutely no follow up... seriously defficient compared to La Fuente @ Barceló Punta Cana... Bar staff at pool level - aross the resort - can be a little stand-offish until you make eye contact and actually speak with them - difficult to get served if you're not used to ponying up to a bar and requesting a drink (so some folks can be put off by this experience) - perhaps benchmark your other resorts in other countries (Cuba, Dominican Rep., Spain...) to see how exceptional customer service isn't about the bar staff, but about the customer... pay attention to who's there first, especially younger guests :-) Interesting anecdote: It looked like Co-President Mr. P. Barcelo was walking the resort - glad to see the Owners still takes personal interest in their properties and service levels. Your staff does a great job overall in this immense property - you should be very proud of them and the efforts we see on a daily basis. Thank you! we'll be back :-)

Catalonia Yucatan: Great Resort. Would not book with airtransat again

Beautiful beach, well kept rooms, food was delicious with many options. Very far from the Cancun airport - did not receive an accurate account of travel time.... Front desk staff was wonderful. Restaurant staff were excellent. Activities team was lacking and we found some of the bartenders to be a bit rude. In general, noone went out of their way to make everything special. Excellent hotel, just not commensurate with what we paid.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: perfect Vacation

From the helpful staff, the excellent meals, and of course the superb beach we could not of ask for better. We particularly enjoyed being able to walk to Playa DelCarmen 5th avenue shopping/dinning by either the beach or via the streets all within a limited access community of Playacar.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Loved this elegant resort!!!

This resort is very sleek, modern, well kept great food, top notch drinks and the room was cleaned at least 2x per day . The entertainment was fantastic as well. The only thing to be aware of is there is a water park for kids on one side of the resort so it does attract families . I was totally ok with that but some people on s honeymoon might want to be aware of that .

Barcelo Maya Colonial: PERFECT Resort

Everyting was so nince. Hotel, food, pool, beach,. The people in charge of the hotel, the waiters, everyone was so cool. We enjoy the hamak A LOT at the pool and so nice to have internet everywhere. For shure i'm gone come back

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Everthing you need in a resort

One of the best resorts I have been to. Has everything you need and more. Great service, food and amenities. .This resort is built right in the jungle, animals were everywhere. Woke up to many birds chirping and peacocks on our balcony. ..highly recommend this resort.

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Lots of fun and relaxing

Great resort. Rooms are big and very comfortable. Overall we had a great vacation. The food was good, great buffet but the menus in the restaurants was very similar but it's not any reason not to go to this resort. Love that you don't make reservations for dinner you can just show up to any of them. One of the better beaches we have been to in Mexico. Which is not really known for its beaches.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Beautiful resort.

This resort was exactly as reviewed. Food was excellent and lots of choices. Reservation process for food was slow but knew that before I went there. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Oceanview room was amazing.beach was great for lounging.lots of umbrellas and lounge chairs.I chose this section for the snorkeling and was very happy. Saw a ton of fish right at the resort.even saw a turtle and stingray.water was rough but you could still snorkel because of the breakwater.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Food was amazing!

Sian Ka'an was a rather small resort but being able to use all the other resorts was a great perk. The food was wonderful, Japanese and gourmet restaurant were unbelievable. Beach area was rather small but the akumel pool was great.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Second visit not as good as the first

Our second visit to this resort, things have changed GREATLY, and not necessarily for the better. Quite simply: They now have a "black diamond club" you have to buy or get in the HIDEAWAY adults only section that you didn't have to get before. We asked for an upgrade on arriving and were told not possible anywhere! Not good PR to be sure. If you don't get it; 1. No bathroom robes, 2. No premium booze, 3. No butler, 4. No a la carte reservations! Many guests didn't realize this and stood in line [... read more] at restaurants trying to get in they were very upset, while the Black diamond people had their butlers get them reservations What the ??????? Or you could buy a 100 dollar+ bottle of wine and get a reservation! We don't like this kind of attempted manipulation. We paid for an Adults only vacation and had to eat at the buffet with the hordes of kids! Our Adults section restaurant "The Dorado" was frequently closed for various meals/days and so it became necessary to brave the hordes at the buffet or upset off couples who didn't/could get reservations at the remaining open restaurants. We didn't pay for this kind of treatment. Time-sharing people are crawling all over the front entrance, beware! Because we knew of the strategy of getting us to visit them at so called mandatory "meet and greet" session from the last visit, we chose not to attend! Guess what? for 4 days, every time we we passed through there! Ran the gauntlet of these people. They even had it on the TV under guest account that we had to go to see them. Outrageous! The adult hideaway pool had the most juvenile "rage type pool party" on Christmas with a DJ of some description, playing NOISE and blowing soap bubble in the pool for the drunken young folk. Okay... but for 2 hours? not very Christmas-like if you know what I mean. Now the food was very good in all locations. Its perhaps the strong point of the Hotel. That and most of the staff. They are all equally good and go out of their way to be helpful. Some notables were; Fernando at the Hideaway Pool Michelle at the Dorado front desk The chef at the Dorado, Sorry I can't pronounce his name but he was a jewel. All in all, we had hoped that all the construction issues/noise that we endured the last time we stayed there would be over and would not interfere with a nice kid free vacation at Xmas. Sadly, this was not the case for us and we will look elsewhere for our 5 star needs. This is not a 5 star "adults only" hotel. We consider our two previous stays at the Le Blanc as 5 stars, not this hotel. Cheers I dont know

Selection Riviera Cancun: Not 4 1/2 stars

The hotel has seen better days. The food was always the same ...american... I didn't have the impression that I was in Mexico. The beach was full of weeds and the smell was horrible. I have been to riviera maya 8 times and this hotel has been one the worst. The rating should be 4 stars.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Nice resort

Had a good vacation. Felt bad for some staff as they were overelmed with work because there were not enough staff. The staff at the pool bar were amazing! The hotel put on an amazing midevil theme party.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Wonderful holiday!

We just got back from staying at the Ocean Coral and Turquesa (December 25, 2015 - Jan 1, 2016). It's a beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. The rooms were big and clean and there were lots of restaurants, bars and nice pools. It rained a little bit for a few days but only for a couple of minutes. The weather was around 30 degrees Celsius everyday so even when it rained it was still warm. The hotel has a nice beach which the staff worked very hard every day to clear the seaweed. The water was a little murky and the winds a little strong but that just goes for the time of year and it didn't stop us from sitting on the beach every day. There were lots of lounge chairs so never a problem finding a spot. The food was very good at the restaurants and the buffets – there was lots of variety and we never went hungry. It was hard though trying to get into the Japanese restaurant. It filled up very quickly so we never got a chance to try it. We went into Playa del Carmen one day which was a lot of fun - make you sure you check out Fifth Street - very vibrant and busy with lots of shops and restaurants. We also did an excursion into Tulum and Coba. The ruins are amazing and climbing the pyramid in Coba was very cool - the view from the top was breathtaking. The resort had nightly shows which unfortunately we never got around to seeing as we were too busy or just wound up having late dinners. The venue always appeared full though so I’m sure the entertainment was great. The resort has a few photographers that go around and take pictures if you want. We got our pictures taken in the Italian restaurant and on the beach – the beach pictures turned out great. Well worth the money and a wonderful keepsake to have. The New Year’s Eve party at the resort was amazing. It was a Medieval theme and they went over the top in decorating the resort. The food was endless - lobster, crab, salads, desserts - you name it, it was there - so much variety. The wait staff were so attentive. They had a huge beach party with DJ, great music, tables, chairs, bars and staff everywhere to accommodate you. It was a very beautiful, relaxing vacation!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Absolutely Amazing!!!

Second time to this resort - just as good, if not better, then the first time we went. Nice and clean, service was great, food fantastic, shows put on by the entertainment staff were excellent. Grounds are beautiful

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing Resort

Wonderful resort, amazing and accommodating staff. Pool and Beach was great with lots of seating. Food was absolutely amazing. Staff work really hard and are friendly and personable. Can't wait to go back!
