Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great beach, Substandered Service

The pool and beach were amazing. The AC in our room never worked properly and the service from the front desk was substandard at best. Essentially they were not interested in their guests comfort or needs.

Playa Caleta: Mela marina is really amazing Resort

i change my resort to Melia marina resort…its so wonderful , amazing hotel…its very clean, foods are so delicious, all the personal and staff are very nice…i would like to go back for the next vacation….EXCELENTE…!!!!!!! i can highly recommended this resort melia marina varadero cuba…lovely….

Resonance Blu Varadero: Disappointed overall

The hotel itself was not as well kept as I expected. The first room they put us in was "old", musty and had a feeling of being dirty. They moved us the next day the room was cleaner but same "old" feeling. The worst part was the food and trying to problems resolved. We went with other family and one of our rooms had the A/C not working. I had to go to the customer service desk more than 3times a day for 3days before it was resolved. Barcelo Solymar: Great beach resort

The beach is wonderful. Beach towels in rooms, we never got them changed in the 3 days we were there because they said they never had clean ones. Other than that excellent place to stay. Oh! No entertainment!

Hotel Los Cactus: We loved it!

We liked the rooms, the beach, the shows. The main restaurant is too hot, though! Some staff were really nice, others not so much (I guess they're tired of serving tourists) Food was better than expected.

Sol Varadero Beach: Very Friendly Staff!

This resort was nicer than expected! We were welcomed into a large and beautiful lobby where we were served with some cold refreshments and cold face towels while checking in. A nice treat to make us feel special and welcomed. The staff from the start were very upbeat, friendly, sociable and customer service-orientated. The grounds were very well kept with lots of gardeners and painters keeping the place looking well maintained. The website did not include this detail but they hold a strict policy of pants for men for the evening reserved restaurants. It's an outdated rule and was bypassed by many wearing pajama bottoms which they accepted. A little silly considering the nice dress shorts that are available. The expansive pool was nice and pretty clean considering the number of bathers using it. Could it be cleaner - yes, as it's due for a good scrub down. But, we felt quite comfortable in it. The pool bars were very busy and the bartenders did an amazing job serving everyone with their varied drink orders and a big smile. We primarily booked this resort over similar ones because of the on-resort water-park. It was busy but the wait times were very short. It was a great way to break up the day. The beach had seaweed issues washing up on shore and we were told this is a time of year thing. There was a tractor that did daily cleaning of it but it seemed to be a never ending process. Nonetheless, we spent many hours at the beach. We had a junior suite which was nice to have the extra room. The beds are somewhat hard and seems to be a common complaint amongst reviewers. That would be a recommendation to the resort to upgrade their mattresses. The room was clean and well kept with a balcony. Cleaning staff did a daily sweep of the room, replaced towels, made the beds and left flowers regularly. We were impressed with the timely upkeep of food, drinks and ice. Any time something was empty it was quickly replaced. There's no shortage of getting food on the resort, whether on the beach, by the pool, at the water-park or by the lobby. The pizza and chicken is very good. We had an iPad stolen while we were waiting at the buffet. To our surprise it showed up four days later in the lost and found! Thank you Apple for making them very secure! And thank you very much to the person that returned it. All staff were very friendly! Actually pretty much all Dominicans we met on and off the resort were very friendly.

Melia Las Americas: Beautiful Beach!

We had a great time. The resort was very nice. The beach was amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I do think the bar staff could have taken a little more pride when making cocktails. Worst margarita I have ever had. No umbrellas or fruit with frozen drinks. Also, I found some of the other guests to be very rude.

Memories Jibacoa: Very Limitted Resort

The facilities are well maintained and the resort overall is what anybody can expect from a 2 stars resort, their staff is full of unhappy people, they don't greet you when you arrive, and the bartenders and waitresses they don't say Hi, Hello or Thanks in English or Spanish, they make you feel unwelcome. Currency exchange, Spa, Gym, gift shops and towel exchange are available only from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm

Resonance Blu Varadero: Enjoyable vacation on a budget

Overall we had a good experience with good service, great weather and a beautiful beach. The one area that could use improvement was cleanliness. Our room was not at an acceptable level of cleanliness upon arrival but this was quickly addressed. The swimming pool was also not properly cleaned on our first day but this seemed to improve as the week progressed. Starfish Varadero: Good and bad

Our room was great, we had a bungalow that was a two second walk to the pool. Staff were friendly and helpful. our only issue was the food, I travel to Cuba multipe times a year so I know what to expect. My family struggled to find things they enjoyed. Perhaps it would of been different it the Buffett had better air conditioning as well as air flow.

Grand Memories Varadero: Grand Memories (Varadero) - Excellent Resort!

This resort deserves a 5 star Cuba rating. BEACH: The resort has direct access to the beach and includes some water activities e.g. paddle boats, kayak. They are located on the 24th km of the 35 km beach that stretches across Varadero. POOLS: There 3 large pool areas (2 general + 1 adult only) -- all well designed to cater to an assortment of guests e.g. singles, couples, families with young children. There were shallow areas, shaded areas as well as elevated areas. The pools were very well ma [... read more]intained and clean. ACCOMMODATIONS: Better than expected! We got 3 beds for our family of 4 as well as room that had a walk out to our own little backyard where we set up lawn chairs to dry our swim gear. The washroom was spacious and the water temperature and pressure exceeded some hotel chains in Canada (e.g. Delta!) FOOD: A good selection -- even for vegetarians. Well presented and good. Bring your own ketchup for the kids (Heinz!) and be ready to shake on some salt and pepper here and there. The lack of variety near the end of the week was the weak point. And the regular fly shooing. STAFF: Friendly overall, some much more than others. Our maid was super friendly and we had brought old clothing, shoes, toys and stationary for the staff (tip from a TripAdvisor.ca reviewer -- thanks, Susan!) TRAVEL: We went with Sunwing Vacations and they did a great job on the plane and on the bus shuttle. The ones in the resort could have used a little of their other colleagues' enthusiasm. BOOKING: We booked through TripCentral.ca and we will definitely do so again ... they have THE BEST laid out site and is easiest to navigate and select.

Hotel Los Cactus: Beautiful Beach!

We stayed at Breezes Varadero in July of 2015. The rooms at this resort are in need of upgrading, however, they are clean and well maintained. More importantly, air conditioning in Cuba in July is a must, and our air conditioner in our room always provided us the needed break from the heat. Our sons' bought baseball gloves and there was ample room on the beach to throw the ball without getting in anyones way. The Food - this was my first trip to Cuba and I read several reviews about the food at the resorts not being very good, I hate to tell you this, but it is true. At the resort's the food is not very good, however, if you book a reservation at one of their a lacarte restaurants, the food is much better. Also, Breezes is only a few kms from the town of Varadero, and the food at the local restaurant's is quite good.....well worth the trip. There is a nightclub called The Beatles. The club is outdoors and has live music. The band we saw was really good, we had a lot of fun. My husband and I travelled with our two sons, 21 and 24 years of age, and we really enjoyed ourselves. The WestJet staff was very helpful setting up our tours. A trip to Havana is a must, it was well worth booking the overnight tour. Some people at the resort negotiated a day rate with the taxi drivers, this is something we will do next time we go.

Palma Real: Great time in Cuba!

Great resort, friendly service! Sometimes slow, but that's how it is everywhere it seems. Our room was mostly clean, the food was good and we had a beautiful balcony where we would get an espresso at the lobby bar, bring it to our room and relax and chat on the balcony almost everyday. Muthu Playa Varadero: Good resort for the money

This is the older resort, but the rooms are good, and always clean. The only bad thing is the A/C, but, usually maintenance is quick to fix it. Food is O.K., and around the hotel is O.K. The beach is excellent, and the weather was good all 14 days.

Grand Memories Varadero: Great place to go and enjoy your vacation

Check in was easy and simple, we had our luggage taken to our room by hotel services person. Our room was nice and clean, the maids did good job. The beach and pool area were awesome and the entertainment there was the best. Resort food was good and they try to reach all the standards for four stars resort. Night entertainment was also great and it felt like it didn't stop until was time to go to the disco. Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Lots of issues. But beach is amazing

The resort is an ex sandals that has not been maintained properly and there are several issues with cleanliness, air conditioning, behaviour of staff and insects in rooms. However, the beach is truly paradise and that's what makes it worth it to go see for yourself.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Luxury at its best!

We arrived at night and could not fully appreciate the beauty of the grounds. We woke up the next day to see the beautiful pool on one side of us and the ocean on the other side. We had the Royal Service upgrade...Wow was it worth it. We had our private area. The pool , the beach and since we are foodies, the private restaurant for the Royal Service guest was Amazing. The people were absolutely beautiful and caring. The water was the nicest and clearest I have ever seen. It was 30 minutes from the airport, which was nice not having to drive too long or far.

Grand Memories Varadero: Amazing resort

This was our best holidays for years We've been upgraded without asking, the maid was excellent very kind and lovely, hotel personnel was very professional and helpful, even the manager was always around asking if all is ok and helping. This was our best beach ever, the kids were very happy we only stayed at the beach all the stay ( 2 weeks ). The food was ok for the taste in general but if you like fish this was the best, we've always had lot of choice and this was one of my best in Cuba Overal [... read more]l as I said this was our best holidays in years and I will return gladly.

Hotel Acuazul: Hotel in extremely poor shape.

Toilet would not flush. No toilet seat. Rooms very old and dirty. I felt sorry for the front desk staff. It wasn't much they could do but put a smile on their face and apologise. Food was poor too. Grounds in bad shape. Staff and entertainment was good.

Melia Marina Varadero: Clean & pleasant - Can't complain!

Jiovanni and jasmela in the main buffet gave excellent service (with their serving partners). We stayed in the apartments which was a nice amount of space for my family of 5. My parents stayed in the main hotel which was also a nice room - but possibly a mold smell from the dampness of the A/C. Service was nice in most places we went to on the resort. Latin and French a la carte restaurants were decent. The night shows were entertaining but run until 10:30 or 11pm each evening (late for the kids [... read more]).
