Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Hidden Gem

Several of us went to GB Bougainville and had a wonderful stay. The resort was spotless, lots of chairs in all areas and a great beach. The water is not the clear “see to the bottom “as other areas in the Dominican but staff were raking and removing any stones or seaweed that washed up overnight. Staff kept the beach clean and came around taking drink orders throughout the day. The two pools are large and there is a smaller whirlpool pool in a quiet area also. One pool has the activities [... read more] and the other one is the quiet pool but both have a swim up bar. The 4 specialty restaurants we went to were amazing. Our rooms were very large and bathrooms were beautiful. Never an issue with hot water. Bar fridge was always replenished and the beds turned down while we were out to dinner with chocolates on your pillow. Just don’t go out on the balcony and close the door as there isn’t a door handle to reopen it. Three off our group got locked out in the balcony which was upsetting. The grounds were stunning. There were a number of little shops to buy souvenirs and a small casino with 10 or so machines. The shows at night were your usual resort type. The main lobby had music and dancing each night with staff dancing with the guests. All the staff were very friendly. We all enjoyed the resort and all the little extras they did for you. The tray with ice tea and cup of peanuts and the fruit skewers offered each day at the pools made you feel a little pampered. We all felt we would like to go back.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Nice beach and friendly staff

Clean and friendly, and great beach location. Safe boxes seem to need some tlc, had to get mine checked 3x until they decided to change the battery. Missed that little extra smile or « thanks and come again » at least from the reception on the way out, but maybe that person had a bad day on that day. Fantastic staff at the buffet and in the lobby bar, thank you very much for the smiles and good sense of humor.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Not impressed

The food was less than desirable other than the ala carte's , buffet is open so flies all on the food and very bland not a lot of selection , even more disappointing the entertainment throughout the day at the pool , 1 day a pool party that's it , no games , same music over and over no interaction from the staff. Evening entertainment was ok the Queen and Las Vegas show were the best , cannot believe u had to pay for 2 of the a la carte restaurants as well as drinks considering I payed for ALL i [... read more]nclusive. I was in building 1 so had to get the train to the main lobby and was told train runs 24 hrs every 15 min , NOT true, I saw ppl with babies and small children waiting up to 45 min ridiculous, do yourself a favour but at the Bahia Principe , that was my choice but was convinced to try the Melia , BIG MISTAKE!!

Bahia Principe Grand Samana Roulette: Fantastic Family Vacation

Beautiful scenic resort with everything at your fingertips! We travelled with an infant and had minimal issues getting around the resort with our stroller. The staff were beyond amazing with our 6 month old. I would highly recommend to everyone.

Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham: Hassled

The resort was ok. More like a 3 out of 5. The food was better in the non VIP section but not that great. Everyday we were harassed every single day to attend information to buy into the hotel's direct purchase program---constantly harassed. While in the pool, ocean, eating---eveverywhere. I would not recommend. Not recommend!

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Our Home away From Home

My wife and I have just returned from our absolute favourite vacation resort. We were only home for nine days between the last two visits and are looking forward to returning again soon. Excellence Punta Cana: Beautiful getaway

We visited this resort from April 5-12, 2018 and took advantage of their Excellence Club offering (which we highly recommend since it offers quite a few perks). The property itself is absolutely stunning, with a very wide beach frontage and immaculately kept grounds with lots of amenities. There is never a shortage of towels or beach chairs/palapas. There is a wide variety of restaurants at the resort and it's nice that you never have to make reservations. The one exception is at the Asian restaurant, Spice, where you do need to reserve a spot if you want to sit around the hibachi grill. This was a fun experience and is highly recommended! We thought the resort food itself was a solid 4 out of 5. It was always good, but rarely did we consider it a "gourmet" experience by North American standards. Our favourite was the Lobster House and we were not as impressed with the French restaurant. Salad bars are lacking the wide variety of ingredients we've seen at other resorts. The buffet restaurant offered excellent custom omelettes and a wide selection of other foods, all of which were very good. We visited the specialty coffee and dessert shop many times and loved it. What makes this resort stand out is the staff and the superior service they offer! Everyone was very friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our vacation. We met many people who are repeat visitors and we can see why. There are also quite a few shops on the property offering a good selection of clothing, jewelry and souvenirs at reasonable prices. We did a shopping excursion organized through Air Transat, but found the prices and selection were no better than on the resort. Considering the long bus ride, it was pretty much a waste of time. The resort's gym has amazing equipment that is new and clean. The yoga class was fun and very relaxing. You can also borrow bicycles or play tennis, pool, ping pong, etc. We visited the disco one night and had a blast. There is no shortage of things to do at the Excellence Punta Cana. As for our Excellence Club room, it was nice but not outstanding. However, the bed was comfortable and everything worked well, and room service was good. All together, we'd definitely recommend this property for those looking for a relaxing holiday complete with all the amenities in beautiful surroundings. Note that the water is quite rough at the beach; conditions were red flagged on several days during our visit. A special thank you to Adan, Danny and Randophi (sp) for the above and beyond service.

Riu Merengue: This is not the resort you were looking for!

The rooms are smaller than most resorts I've been to. Arranged in villas. Eastern part of the resort is unused apart from villas. Example eastern reception area staffed with one person who can't do much but direct you to the main reception. East Theatre never used. Several pool tables are on site but only one is in serviceable condition. The other two are in extremely poor condition.

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Best get away ever 😊

If you are looking for a quiet place to get away to than this is it. The grounds and hotel were kept pristine. Mature vegetation and scenery was beautiful to look at. Beach was private which was a big plus for us. Rooms clean and updated (beds extremely comfortable). Service from room and dining staff was great, they were always happy to serve you. Food was delicious and plentiful (could have varied a bit better) if you love fish than this for you. If you can't do stairs well this is not the pla [... read more]ce for you. I had no problem but if someone can't do stairs than not for you. Would definatly go back, because it's an adult only resort.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: very comfortable and convinent to sousa

clean grounds and beaches. all pools and jacuzies clean. food was ok always found something.room was ok slept well on kingsize bed. no 24 booze or food but we made out ok.could grab quick things for rm. if yamissed off time or just go out the main lobby as close to resterants.would return with the same price or less.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice place

It was a great hotel great food and very nice staff anything u wanted u got r room was freshly painted very clean but the last couple of days we noticed mold growling on the cealing and walls and on the in side of the kertins and we noticed it on are luggage and our winter coat that we're in the closet but other than that it was great thx tim

Tropical Deluxe Princess: Loved the resort

Three senior ladies went for a week and totally enjoyed our visit. It’s an older resort but the grounds are kept immaculate. The rooms need some upgrading but are definitely presentable and comfortable. Nothing fancy, very homey. Food was okay, like all other buffets in resorts. The pools were clean. There’s never enough chairs, have to get up early to get one, at the pools and the beach. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Returning Guests to an Amazing Resort

This is our 7h time staying at Grand Bahia, 3rd at Ambar Blue. Although Grand Bahia is a huge resort, Blue is an isolated area close to the beach for adults only and although you have access to all amenities throughout the resort, If you are there just to relax, Blue has enough restaurants and bars that there is really no need to go beyond. Hotel rooms, beach and restaurants are all amazing. Food selection is good with plenty of choices. Bar Service can be slow at times. If you want a cabana nea [... read more]r the beach, you have to get up pretty early, before 7, to stake one out with your towels. VERY friendly staff. Although we are beach people, the pool is great with plenty of loungers. Despite any shortcomings referred to above, we will definitely return.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Fair resort

I thought the overall resort was good but rooms a A/C units need to be updated badly....we had 3 different rooms and the air conditioning either didn't work or for very poorly they didn't really want to give us another room our WestJet representative had to get after them!!!

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Good trip

Well kept grounds, clean room and lovely beach ... the most important parts to a good vacation. A la carts were good ( Dominican, steak house and Japanese ) . Buffet was decent if not as good as the GBP ones at the Mayan riviera complex . Overall would go back

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: GREAT fun and delicious food

Our experience was very pleasant; the staff were always so friendly and courteous. Our housekeeper was so sweet and always had a beautiful smile on her face. The lobby was always cleaned and our food was delicious. Our favourite part of our trip was the a la carte restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed the last night at the buffet. The only problem we had but that was fixed after a couple of days, we had no idea there was no alcohol in the banana mama's and daqueries and any other drink, unless you  [... read more]requested alcohol in the drink. Casa Marina Reef Resort: Very nice location, not very good service

Negatives: Upon arrival of a delayed flight to the hotel we were very disappointed that there were only 2 people there to check over 80 guests into the hotel. It took over 3 hours to get checked in giving us our room finally at 2:30 am. When waking up in the morning we realized we were never given our bracelets and had to again wait for a while at the front desk to recieved those before being able to enter back into the resort. Other occasions trying to book dinner reservations were nearly impos [... read more]sible as internet did not work or we would have to go back to the lobby in hopes to book there (basically you wanted to avoid the front desk at all cost because you were wasting easily 30 minutes every time you had to deal with them). You have to pay for umbrellas when you are at the beach and the water can get dangerously rough at a moment's notice. Our original room had a broken shower head and the balcony opened to a cement wall. We were however, moved once the weekend was over and more rooms became available. Do not expect towels until 5pm or on the day of your check out/courtesy room as they are not available. Positives: The food was delicious always offering a wide variety at the newly renovated buffet (cannot comment on a la cartes as we were unable to book). The grounds were very well maintained and very picturesque with the coral by the ocean. The bars were all central to the beach and over looked the ocean. Nightly entertainment shows were very good and activities staff were very inviting and enthusiastic.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Nice but very busy hotel, needs improvements to check in and concierge service

Check-in could be made far easier by an online submission of information prior to landing, their app should include approximate time of room being ready, towel cards handed out while you wait for room. Our room was delayed by almost 2 hours. Well kept grounds but super busy, like 700+ rooms. People reserve chairs at 5 am with towels and don’t return all day. Finding a chair or shade is only for early risers. English is not widely spoken so be prepared. Food was ok, but a warning with those wit [... read more]h allergies as signs were not accurate. If you have a life threatening allergy you need to get a letter at concierge to explain your requirements for staff to be aware in Spanish. Rooms are nice but we would have blankets missing day to day, someday there were enough towels for all room occupants and some day there wasn’t. Lots of mosquitoes in rooms so bring bug spray and allergy meds. Otherwise it was a nice hotel, kids club staff were great. Kids had a blast and I didn’t worry about safety. Go to the BBQ buffet at beach (req reservation) for excellent charcoal grilled meat.

Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Beautiful Resort

The grounds were beautiful. The room was excellent! The people were very friendly! The beach was awesome! We really enjoyed the Chopsticks restaurant! The buffets were awesome! The bar on the beach ..... large donkey and small donkey were hilarious! The hostess who was serving us drinks on the beach was amazing! It’s nice to have the geotubes there to allow us to go in the water without the waves being too much!

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Beautiful but disorganized

Very nice resort, good food and great service however housekeeping and registration needs tweaking...it took us 3 hours at the reception desk to finally get our room! Otherwise, the food, service and location were wonderful!
