Grand Riviera Princess: Monster size resort

Good choice in terms of value, but the resort is quite large and you have to contend with crowds everywhere you go. Food is pretty good though and you can't go wrong with the buffets. The are quite a few a la carte restaurants like Japanese, sushi, French, Swiss, and teppanyaki, all very good and you are free to book as many as you want, as long as you book them in advance. It was well worth the upgrade. Beach is a little disappointing, it's brown and has seaweed and rocks. Overall a decent choice resort if you are cost conscious, but there are definitiey better places if you are willing to pay more.

Ocean Maya Royale: Perfect for my taste and preferences

Lovely grounds, easy and convenient to get around entire resort. All eating places/bars terrific with food/drinks being first class! Specialty restaurants outstanding and liked not having to make reservations. Staff highly attentive!! Best I have been to in Mexico.

Grand Palladium Riviera Resort And Spa: Great Escape From the Real World.. Refreshing!!

- The suite was very spacious and clean. - Food was great, highly recommend the Tapenyaki a la carte!! - Spent most of our time floating around the pool near the swim-up bar. - Beautiful beach, great for snorkeling. - Resort staff were great and always friendly.

Grand Palladium Select White Sand: Fantastic Resorts - White Sands, Colonial, Riviera

The grounds were manicured to perfection, the cleanliness was exceptional. The pool areas were very clean and the washrooms were cleaned hourly. The pool area at the Colonial and Kantenah had a water slide which was great if you had children. If you're a big kid at heart this would have suited you too. The food was fantastic; lots of it and something for everyone including a variety for children.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Amazing trip to paradise

Our family just returned from 10 days at this amazing resort and we are already to book our next stay. There are two sides to this very large resort; the Mayan beach side and the Riviera Maya side. After looking into both sides we decided to stay on the Mayan beach side as it seemed like a good fit for our family. We were able to stay in building 29 which was right next to one of the large pools with a lot of great entertainment, the ice cream shop and the Brazilian restaurant (formally the Caju [... read more]n restaurant). The kids loved the ice cream shop and went a few times a day...there is about 6 or 7 different choices but the coconut is the most popular. The Brazilian restaurant serves as a small buffet for breakfast and lunch as an alternative to using the large main buffets in the main lobby. There is not as much variety but there is always something good to eat. The lazy river is also very close to Mayan beach side which is a very nice place to relax with a drink as you float through the jungle atmosphere. Some people complained about the beach being rocky and about seaweed but we thought it was great! The staff clears away the seaweed everyday and we used water shoes. The snorkeling was amazing as we were able to see and feed many tropical fish. The ocean water was even warmer than the pool water. The kids club is wonderful....they staff are so great especially Christina and Diana. They always have activities going to keep the kids busy and happy. The dolphin show that they have for free everyday was really nice and the kids really enjoyed the scenery of looking out onto the ocean while watching the show. There is plenty of entertainment through out the day such as games by the pool, bike tours, free snorkeling demo, archery and dancing lessons. The evening entertainment was spectacular! We very much enjoyed the shows and felt they were very professional and much more than we had seen at other resorts. One thing I liked was that there was no smoking allowed in the theatre. Our kids loved the mini disco every night before the show. The food was really very good and plentiful. The buffet was nice because it changed every night....our favourite was the mexican and pirate themed night. For restaurants we tried the Cajun, Mediterranean and Japanese and they were all ok but we all agreed we preferred the buffet. One of our favourite places there was the coffee shop! Auriella who works in the afternoon/evenings was just amazing! The best drink was the ice Mokachino with caramel. We did not visit the spa but we did hear amazing things about it from those who did. As mentioned before this is a very large resort with a lot of walking. That being said we had an infant in a stroller and had no issues. There are ramps for those who need it and there is a shuttle that runs every 20 mins around the resort all day long. This was truly one of our best family vacations and I hope make it a tradition

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Our Second Home

We Like how we get treated and welcomed with our room all done up for our 34th anniversary. the A La Carts were very good with excellent service. The buffet was very good for brakfast and lunch. We ate at the Tulum buffet for 3 suppers and it was verry good. This is our 7th time and we feel at home . Most staff are very nice with some being long term employees who care We shall return!

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Family vacation

Our trip at Sandos was amazing there was so much stuff to do at this resort, never a dull moment. The night life and shows were so great the superhero show was really good even for adults. The Mayan shows were also one of our favorites. The resort was big and a bit confusing to get around but after a day I knew it inside out. The staff was awesome and so friendly and willing to help. The things that we were not happy about was the room, it looked really run down and the cleaners would forget to clean or just didn't come. Not normally an issue for me but with all the sand from the beach you need it swept, we called a few times for toilet paper since they never refilled it or just didn't clean that day. That was just a bit of a pain. The guest service people really pushed you multiple times to do the time share tour, no matter how many times you said no they would still bug you. After a long day of traveling once we got to the resort we wanted to just get to our room, change and enjoy paradise however we had to sit with the quest service guy for about 20 min defending why we don't want to do the time share tour. Once he finally allowed us to leave he or his co workers would bug us to do the tour anytime we went to guest services with a question, we just started lying and said we already did it, or we just avoided that area all together. The other issue was the beach, it was very rocky and the waves were very rough so there was no snorkeling or swimming off our resort. I tried to snorkel and the waves were so strong and the water was so cloudy you couldn't see more than 5 ft in from of you. Even with the few issues we loved the resort

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Very good value for money

Our 3rd time at Grand Sirenis. The place is starting to show its age and I would say maintenance has been neglected in some areas. The grounds are great and we like the fact it is spread out over large area. If you don't want to be side by side with all the other hotels, this is perfect. We like they way they have kept the natural area around intact. It would appear they are starting to invest some money to refurbish, but I also think it is going towards their premium travelers club/members. Mak [... read more]es sense from their standpoint, but they better keep up with the rest of it. The only thing we really found embarrassing, was the lounge chairs. For the price, they could go to Sams Club just down the road and replace them for $50 each. Some of them are pretty disgusting, to the point they should be thrown out immediately. I do know there are some rooms in need of repair, but we have been lucky so far. Overall, we think you get the best value for your money here.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: very good

We went there for the 5th time all ways enjoyed our stay there . We were happy to be able to go from Tullum beach to Coba beach due to an uncontrolling circumstances....the algae! the staff is working relentlessly to alleviate that problem. We still enjoyed jumping in the waves!! The staff is very cordial and accommodating. The food quality and variety surely met high standards . All in all it's a very nice resort and also big incen [... read more]tive for families with children since there is a new addition to the Coba....the water park which can keep kids happy all day. The cleanliness is also remarkable ,either in rooms ,washrooms or common areas. All in all it was a very pleasurable stay.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Delightful Trip to the Valentin

My 10 days at the Valentin Imperial Maya were wonderful. From the doorman greeting me with a warm "welcome home" to the hugs I received from staff members on my last day, my first time in Mexico could not have been more enjoyable. The grounds are beautiful, the pools never felt crowded, there were a variety of activities and entertainment planned every day, the meals were deliciously varied, and the room was ample and comfortable. Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Pretty great resort!

Overall we had a great time, great food, beautiful rooms and pools. Only down side was the algae but they can't help that because of the tides, we did have a few calmer sea days where the water was almost free of algae and we were able to enjoy the beach. Entertainment was lacking but the service was good. Kids club is great and the water park is a nice touch!

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Great trip to Sandos!

We have been to at 6 or 7 all inclusives in the Mayan Riveria. Sandos certainly ranks in the top 2! We stayed in the adults only section. The room was beautiful! Mattress was quite firm. No problem at the beginning, but towards the end of our trip our backs were a little stiff. A bit of a walk to the beach, but lets be honest, we could use the exercise after all the food and drink! Grounds are absolutely amazing. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Food was very good. Only complaint was th [... read more]at some items at buffet breakfast (scrambled eggs) were cold. We found the resort to be a very good value. We do not normally return to the same resort, however, if the price was right we would certainly come back with our kids.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Very Good Resort

Overall the resort was very nice and if I ever went to the same resort twice (which I don't) we would go here again. Everything was clean, food was good, pools were amazing. Salvador at the Mexican bar was fantastic! One of the bell men at the main lobby was also fantastic (but unfortunately I can't remember his name). Our only disappointment would be the service of the front lobby counter. Our other disappointment was the beach, which was no fault of the resort. The resort did their best to clean up the sea weed throughout the day.

Grand Sunset Princess: Not a five star

The resort grounds are gorgeous and pools plenty. BUT the rooms are very musty and moldy smelling. The food is very bland. No place to sit outdoors at restaurants or buffets. Constant sewer smell at beach and internet very costly and only available in 2 designated spots. Entertainment very poor. Would not recommend this place.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: X-caret Hotel

This was my second trip to this hotel. It was an awesome week with a few bumps but good all the same. The rooms are nice and clean, the beach is small but clean and love the man made inlet so I can go swimming without the waves. The food was good plenty to eat. Dinners are all a la carte so was able to enjoy all the restaurants without eating supper at the buffet. The staff was friendly and helpful the grounds are well kept, love the wild life. Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: 2 weeks of unforgeable stay at Dreams Puerto Av!

Excellent resort to relax, to snorkel and very enjoyable for kids. Good location to reach interesting places like Xcaret, Tulum ruins and etc. Very friendly stuff, amazing activities and tasty food! We would return and recommend to our friends!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Fantastic week with the family

We spent the week with our family (4 adults and a baby) and we had a great time. The hotel accommodations were exactly what we expected (i.e. no unpleasant surprises). The housekeeping staff did a great job maintaining our room several times a day. Never saw them in our room, but they were always in the hallways. Communications difficult as they didn't speak english, but then no words are required if they are doing their job well. We rewarded them accordingly. The grounds were immaculate and the grounds crew were very visible every day, making sure everything was in it's proper place. The public washrooms were always well maintained and the cleanliness was outstanding. The dining facilities were very impressive (as expected) and our favourite restaurant was the Hunter steakhouse. We all agreed the steaks were some of the best we have ever tasted (even compared to Jacobs in Toronto). The buffet or the "Marche" as they referred to it was outstanding as we had most our breakfasts and lunches there. If the restaurants weren't so good, we could have eaten all our meals there. However, all the restaurants had something special about them that kept us coming back. All the staff were well versed on responding to our "Thank-you's" . They always responded with "It's my pleasure" ( and it sounded like they actually meant it) versus the "No problem" you commonly hear in our local facilities. One of our favourite places to visit several times a day was the "Cafe Bar". Great drinks and desserts served by very courteous and friendly staff. The patio staff serving drinks around the pool were also very friendly and courteous. The only negative thing we could find about this resort was the ocean water was dirty and the water was very rough. Therefore, we spent very little time on the beach. However, we aren't beach people so our normal behaviour on an island vacation is lazing around the pool. The only other negative point is I picked up some "sand flea bites" on our second to last night there (evening beach party) and it has taken over a week to get rid of them. A friendly suggestion would be to use some insect repellant in the early morning or late evening visits to the beach. Overall, we continue to be very satisfied with Sunwing as a service provider. They own the airlines and the hotels. Brilliant business model on their part.

Excellent location. Beautiful beach,exceptional buffet,well appointed rooms,top-notch family resort. Great sun beds, free accessible to Water toys, very nice layout of resort. Spa very pricey but still popular.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: The resort was amazing

Everything was excellent, especially the food and the pools. The pools had fantastic slides for the kids and the beach was readily accessible. We also liked the hospitality of the hotel staff, the entertainment, the shopping and free WiFi in the MAYA MALL.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Excellent place to stay

Clean room, friendly staff, wonderful pool, good food, fantastic beach, average entertainment.... One of the best adult only resorts in Mexico. I have been different places last few years, but this is the one I would like to go again...
