Great little resort. Set on a hill overlooking the ocean. Clean, well maintained, and friendly. The food was amazing in the restaurants and buffet. Staff was very attentive. The waves were a blast to play in. We would go again.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Unique resort

Beautiful grounds, natural and well kept. Impeccable service everywhere. Exceptional food and we did not even enter the buffet once! Beach massage wonderful with Lolis. Never too busy. Jungle walk so lovely. Yoga in the mornings!

Majestic Mirage Costa Mujeres All Suite Resort: Supper place to stay for a week.

The staff were top rated. Always a hello and big smile. Quick to help. Food was in abundance warm, fresh fruit and vegetables. Rooms huge, spacious. Lovely towels. Beautiful sand beaches lots of places to relax at the pool or beach. Did not like being asked to pay US Dollars. It screened that I was staying in an American resort and not Mexico resort. That was not fair. We paid 28. dollars US for a deck of cards in a store at the hotel. Very disappointed in that.

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Great Beach-Poor Service

We usually really enjoying staying at any of the Royalton owned resorts, unfortunately this one left us a little disappointed. The resort grounds were beautiful and very well kept. The food overall was good with lots of variety, which made it easy to find something for everyone each day. The beach was a standout—soft sand, crystal blue water, and truly stunning. We  [... read more]got the Entourage suite which is a king bed with a pull out couch for the four of us- we arrived really late at the resorts and there were no sheets or blankets for the kids bed- when we asked for them, they just gave us sheets and no blankets (this was at 2am- so at that point we just made due for the night) we didn’t receive a duvet until night 3. The cabinet doors wouldn’t close, drawers didn’t open properly, lifted ceiling tile in the bathroom, and the shower head was falling off the wall to name a few examples. Housekeeping was minimal (no sweeping or shower cleaning), and we had to repeatedly ask for towels and for the bar fridge to be restocked with water. Lines were long throughout the resort (45 min wait at the coffee shop). The pools were advertised as heated but were freezing cold and went mostly unused by anyone all week (I think the whole week we were there, there might have been a hand full of people using it)- we found out this issue has been on going since November. It was still nice to get away, and any one of these issues on its own would have been manageable. However, taken together, they left a sour taste and didn’t quite live up to expectations for a resort at this level.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Below expectations!

Very nice resort. Nice beach .Clean , quiet .Food was a huge disappointment,about as Mexican as Taco Bell on a bad day . Staff were below what I expected. Communication was a huge problem, language barriers.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Wonderful Location

The beauty of this resort is a great location, and wonderful helpful and friendly staff. Our room was dated but clean. There were plenty of options included in the buffet and the food was always fresh. I loved the fresh guacamole served at the snack bar and opted to eat there at lunch instead of the buffet. The snack bar usually opened around noon and is located behind the main bar by the buffet. We spent a fair amount of time in the bar which is located on the other side of the snack bar area.  [... read more]It is enclosed and in a shady area. This bar was usually quiet with no lineup like the main bar has. We walked to local restaurants for dinner a couple of days. Both Wanda's Burger & Ribs and Mona Lisa Pizza were great off resort meals. We went to two local markets and shopping in the small local stores. Overall we enjoyed our stay and especially the wonderful people!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Lovely Resort

Our building location was ideal. They put us in the adult only section of the resort, close to the infinity pool, overlooking the beautiful carribean sea, and only steps from the adult only restaurant Katook. Food - The food was not great. The buffet dishes were cold, some food items not fresh and dishes were not replenished in a timely fashion. Catalonia Royal Tulum: Paradise Found!

Beautiful, laid back adults only experience, with fantastic food - and a stunning beach. Super friendly staff and gorgeous grounds in the jungle, animated by lively Coati (and other mammals, marsupials and even an occasional monkey!) Go “Priveledged” for access to the fantastic B’Loved Restaurant at the beach

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: So terrible follow up

Hotel was good services sucj as cleaning, foods and so on except paymemt currency. they signed on us and mxn pesso but accept only mxn pesso. it is not clear. there's no mentioned mxn only. thw worst thing is not about hotel service. trip central didn't quick response about flight cancel due to snow storm. I understood the situation but I lost almost 2 days. my departue was jan 26 8:30 am. actual depatrue was jan 27 aroumd 1pm even 1 stop at Montreal. your agent suggested it might be extend on [... read more]e day, not my request. he said it could be accepted by hotel or denied. it took 2 to 3 business day. I umderstood too. but follow up it was accepted or denied until saturday night. so terrible follow up

Friendly Fun Vallarta: Good yet disappointing

The grounds staff, room staff, front desk staff and restaurant staff were all amazing. Incredibly friendly and helpful. ? The grounds were kept spotless. ???? The hotel rooms were spacious, spotless, cleaned daily and offered an amazing oceanview from the balcony. The beach area was nice but we were not able to swim in the ocean due to strong currents, and warnings of dangerous animals such as scorpions, jelly fish and crocodiles. The food (buffet style) rarely changed and was basically the same every day in all 3 buffet locations. Entertainment….one night there was an hour-long 12-person Mariachi band and they were incredible. They could have played 3 hours and attracted a massive audience. Other evenings the entertainment was rather bland…..loud dance music aimed at a younger crowd despite the fact that the hotel guests were mostly in their 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. The one disappointing daily complaint was the ongoing extremely loud music that blared from numerous loudspeakers every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. You couldn’t get away from it. It was mostly Latin and Salsa music, not music most guests were familiar with. And it was so loud that enjoying nice conversations with anyone was often impossible unless you were shouting. Several people asked that the music level be turned down but those requests were totally ignored. For all the friendliness and kindness shown by the staff members, the overall rating was for this resort is just average due to the lack of variety in cuisine and the ongoing loud music that didn’t stop until 11 p.m.

Oleo Cancun Playa: It was a great resort

was a great place to stay staff were amazing the entertainment could use some help the chairs were save all the time had to get up early to get a chair by pool or beach even when they’re rules said you could save chairs was disappointed by this and lack of entertainment hot tub tiles are falling off and was warm not hot over all not a bad place to stay would I stay again maybe but can’t say enough for the staff amazing

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Spinning ceiling fan fell on child

First room was not fit to stay in, should never have been assigned considering no shower head, wall sconce was on bench, patio door unable to open, 2 huge holes in ceiling Second room the spinning ceiling fan fell on a child in bed, hotel did nothing, no credit or new room, and zero communication from hotel management or the travel agent Waterpark supposedly closed due to water pipe burst yet it was obviously to paint the kid area as they miraculously opened for one afternoon when people c [... read more]omplained Most restaurants were closed including buffets and beach bar for our whole trip, impossible to get reservations to the a la cartes Beach was terrible, we travel twice a year and by far this was the worst resort and beach of all the places we've been..... I will never go back or recommend this place or travel agent..... extremely disappointed to say the least. Only positive thing was the monkeys.... DO NOT trust the reviews on trip central or trip advisor

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Krystal Grand - Hcienda

We travelled to Puerto Vallarta the last week of January to celebrate my 70th birthday. This was our first time in that town and we stayed at the Krystal Grand Hacienda. The room was very spacious and clean, we had little issues with the overhad shower dripping if you used the wall shower but that's minimal. THe rounds were impeccable. It can be a little tricky to book the restaurants but you can do it online. The buffet is okay, you always find something you like. The pool area in the hacienda is nice and quiet being on the adult side there isn't much acitivities and you have to get up early to get chairs but we seem to always found a couple. If you want more action you want to be on the family side. I find the hacienda secluded from the rest. I missed looking at the sea and being on the beach so we would go spend some time on the other side to enjoy the view. That's my only negative. but the place is close to shopping if you feel like it. A little out of the way of the Malecon but you can take the bus for 5 pesos if you are a senior otherwise it is 10 pesos. Finally, I will talk about the transfer from and to the Airport. From the Airport we had no issues. Going back to the Airport was another story, we left on the 30th of January and there was a protest scheduled that day and there road closures so the bus couldn't make it to the hotel.. so we we told that were two options, one take a cab who also couldn't come to the hotel or walk to the closest Mall (Wal-Mart) 20 minutes walk to catch the bus who was supposedly waiting for everyone. We go there and there were no bus, we waited awhile still no bus. We were told to walk another half kilometer and we would find cabs. Well we didn't and at that point if was another 50 minutes walk to the Airport. I stopped and asked a Police Officer where we could find a cab and by chance there was a 12 passenger van going by at that time and the cop ordered the man to take us to the Airport , we could only fit 10 with all the bags and sadly the other 4 had to walk the rest. We were not impressed by the fact that Nexus who is responsible for the transfers was not more organized. I don't know if I would go back to that hotel but it was not bad for our first visit.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Gorgeous and Delicious

This beautiful resort is on a stunning stretch of beach, and if the ocean isn't your thing, there are so many pools! The food everywhere is great - at the buffet, the themed restaurants, even the poolside food trucks. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the whole place is just lovely. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. If I had one complaint it would be the evening entertainment. The evening shows are held outside by the main pool. There is not enough seating to accommodate every [... read more]one and the shows themselves are difficult to watch while standing. In other resorts there are cultural, comedy and music shows to watch after dinner in a separate theatre, and often a disco-like space for dancing and drinking until late. If you enjoy this kind of late-night vibe, we didn't find it here. We did take a couple of excursions which were amazing. Catamaran trips to Isla Mujeres, cultural tours of Mayan ruins and other trips are available at reasonable rates. We really enjoyed our week!

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Not disappointed

Retuned at Viva Maya for the second time. The resort really covers my needs. Food is exceptional and plenty. The grounds are well maintained and there’s plenty of entertainment during the day and at night. Rooms are clean. The only small hiccup was that the bathroom had a bad odour and we had to have the bathroom fan on all the time. Other than that we love the resort and will go back in a heartbeat

Hotel Dos Playas Faranda: Great location

We were in room 1604, second closest room to the main road. Surprisingly, the road noise was minimal. However the fellow with the megaphone trying to sell excursions started at about 7 am, thankfully only intermittingly. Our room was a little dated, but functional. Wifi was spotty. The shower only had hot water, no way were we able to budge the cold water tap. It was fine, it did not get uncomfortably hot. The girl that cleaned our room was super nice and helpful and did a great job. The  [... read more]majority of the staff at the bars, servers etc. were very good. The food was great on certain days, especially the Mexican Fiesta night. Other times I was filling up on salads which is not normal for me. I do not like onions and can be a picky eater, so my view of the food might not be accurate for others. At times there was a fair bit of waiting to eat. The grounds were fantastic and the Iguanas added to the authentic Mexican vibe. The ocean and beeches are very good, the waves never got too rough which they tend to do on other areas of the hotel zone. The pools were very nice and they have activities to get you up and moving.

Riu Latino: Great resort!

This resort is very clean and well kept. The rooms are spacious and bright. All public areas are in good shape and the washrooms by the pools and public areas are always being cleaned. The food in the buffet is fresh and there is quite a variety (although sometimes it's not as hot as it could be). The a la cartes could be a bit better. Service was slow at times for some tables and not others and the food was OK but not great. Nightly entertainment was enjoyable. The beach is beautiful.  [... read more] This is an adult resort and there was a mix of all ages. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a flight issue (totally unrelated to the resort) and the front desk was very accommodating in letting us use their phone and helping out with Spanish translation.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Family centred place

Very roomy property. There were so many lounge chairs with lots of access to shade. Only drawback was the water system in the rooms for showers. I am sure things will get updated but no warm water in the mornings and poor water pressure. One other detail. The lights outside our rooms turned off during the night so it was pitch black when we had early departures. Maybe safety lights in the staircases would be an improvement. Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Amazing resort

Enjoyed everything about this property. Good food, nice beach, nice room, great service, fun entertainment and amenities. Lots to do. Water slides, lazy river. Shout out to Victor in the dining room for breakfast. He helped us celebrate a special birthday. Specialty restaurants were excellent. Nice and close to the airport
