Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Good Resort

Good resort. Had a great time. short on and few things, don't expect perfection. Worst part was the fly bites. Bring bug spray and make sure to use it at night around the resort. Right name on the flies. No See-Ums FFS

Tryp Cayo Coco: AMAZING BEACH AND STAFF!

The staff are great, welcoming, respectful, treat you like a family. The beach is the best for sure. Food is great, I can't complain. There is a buffet and a la carte. The show every night is fantastic! The dancers are really skillful. Young coconut is not in the menu but the staff are nice staff to get some for me- happy dance for me!

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Melia peninsula

Onsite rep for Hola sun rep was nothing but rude and had poor attitude towards any sort of complaint. Hotel customer service Roy is just as horrible! Roy likes to yell when you challenge anything he says and will call hotel security to weasel his way out of confrontation.

Melia Las Dunas: Not what I expected at all

I stayed 10 days alone & struggled with hot water and water pressure the whole trip. (My last 2 days, I did not have any running water, couldnt even flush the toilets. I brought this up to them and I only had water near the end of my trip. I even paid extra for the room (3 hours) due to my late flight, I wanted extra rest and wasn't feeling well and STILL had no water in my room. Waste of money & plus the extra money I paid for extra time in my room!!!) I requested with my travel agent a top flo [... read more]or and the front desk refused to grant me the top floor. Every day for 3 days, I came in the morning to the front desk to ask for the top floor. Finally after the 3rd day they gave in but only to a top floor room which was far away from the necessities. They lacked necessities like toilet paper, working appliances in the room, towels, etc. Beach wasn't very clean, a lot of seaweed. There was a lot of food options but when buffet was open, it was always cold. I never had any staff greet me when I was seated for any drink or if I needed anything. They would only honour those in groups of 2+. Staff wasn't very pleasant regardless of being polite and tipped. Also, a very outdated resort. I was told if I didn't leave anything for the cleaning lady, I was going to be left a letter to warn me that I needed to tip her. Overall, DO NOT recommend!!!

Sol Cayo Coco: Excellent service

We had a great time with our young family. The resort is dated, but other than that it is a wonderful place to stay. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay special. Food is good and the kids club was wonderful! Will definitely be returning.

Paradisus Varadero: Loved it. I will be back.

The resort itself is fantastically laid out. The beach is beautiful. The main pool was fantastic. The staff... all were friendly, helpful and outstanding. I won't say there weren't little issues now and again but they did what they could to fix the issues. If you go to them with problems and are rude right away thats probably why you arent happy with the service. Remember, they have a different climate that wears things down quickly. Add to all the the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, great music and happy staff... that's enough to send me back again and again. By far my favorite stay in Varadero yet.

Melia Cayo Coco: Melia Cayo Coco. Another wonderful stay

This was our second trip to Melia Cayo Coco this year. We had one of the best times out of the past 15 or more stays here. The service from all staff was excellent , everyone was very happy to help out with our requests. Thank you to Juan Carlos, Kennier, Yunismy,Haila and Gippsy. The food was delicious at the buffet and at the al la carts. Breakfast and lunches at the Ranchon (beach restaurant) very tasty with lobster on Cuban Day. The service from the wait staff, not only are they wonderful at the job, they also sing and dance.Thanks to the Leandro, Osmany, Yusmelkys and Yaneisy. There is live music daily at lunch at the Ranchon with the ever popular Sol de Rio and another band who’s escapes me. The buffet has a wide variety of choices of food for everyone at breakfast and dinner, we did not have lunch at the buffet. There are some shortages we noticed but they did not affect us, such as pasta and pork. The buffet is quite noisy earlier in the evening at prime time. The staff do a great job greeting guests and providing warm and friendly atmosphere. Special thanks to Beatrice and Vivian for breakfast service and to Omar and Celia for dinner service. The resort has a high number of repeat guests. On this trip met many friends from Canada and friends who have been able to travel from the UK. The animation staff do a great job of engaging those guests interested in participating in games at the beach with boche, volleyball, dance lessons and Spanish lessons. They also have a fun rum tasting event which is quite entertaining . A big shout out to Rene, Julio, Nosleny, Annie, Victor,Chino, Yaneisy,Lia and Jilena, thanks for the fun everyday! There is nightly entertainment in the lobby, always from the piano Elim and all the other performers. On the main stage there a fantastic dance company putting on terrific shows. There was also performances by a circus troop, a rock band and a Michael Jackson show. The grounds are in great condition and well maintained by a great group of gardeners Borges, Rolando, Felipe and the numerous others. The beautiful beach stretches for miles and you can sail, snorkel and fish. The classic room we stayed in was dated, especially the shower and tub. We know they are slowly working on renovations. We appreciated that the room was very well cleaned everyday. A big problem was the lack water pressure and temperature at peak times between 5 and 6 pm when everyone was preparing to go to dinner. This can be very frustrating. The staff were prompt to try rectify the problem. The biggest reason we choose to return to the Melia Cayo Coco is the peaceful vibe. No booming music at the beach which is absolutely amazing! Very chill music around the pool in the morning. Over the years we have developed many friendships with the staff and each time we are warmly welcomed. Their excellent service truly appreciated!

Melia Marina Varadero: Avoid. Horribly managed

Terribly run, which exacerbates the problems innate to Cuba. They supposedly run out of food all the time but in reality are too lazy to resupply from the kitchen/storage. Staff dont care about guests, entertainment staff were rude. Room broke repeatedly. Drinks were good. Beach is excellent. But definitely not worth the experience. It was so stressful that we were thinking of leaving early the first few days

Melia Cayo Coco: Wonderful staff and beaches

Enjoyed our weeklong stay at Malia Cayo Coco. The staff was so welcoming and kind, and the beaches were amazing - easily the best part of the trip. Our first time in Cuba was amazing. We loved the lagoon view suites.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful, relaxing holiday

This hotel was clean, the staff were incredibly friendly and kind, this resort is big and there is a lot of walking but as a Royal guest we could flag down a golf cart or call the front desk for one. We stayed in the Presidential Suite (upgraded once we arrived), and we had our own pool, the room is massive but it’s at the furthest part of the hotel which meant we had to walk very far for the entertainment and to the restaurants but a quick call to front desk and a golf cart was on its way. M [... read more]ost of the entertainment and activities took place in the main area which meant all the Royal guests had to commute. There was never music or things to engage you around It is more like a place to rest and relax. Due to the food shortage in Cuba, there were minimal food options. Every single restaurant only offered chicken and some type of seafood. There were 2 or 3 options on the menu at the a la carte restaurants only. I think if they had meat options of some sort it would have been much better. They did try their very best to offer chicken in many ways to keep guests happy. The room service was good and I think this is the only place where the staff from the groundskeeper up did everything in their power to make you smile and feel welcomed! My cons were, the lack of English speaking staff. The language barrier is absolutely massive and a very big con. I am actually surprised how difficult it was to ask for something. Definitely don’t go for the food but certainly go for the incredible beach, ocean and kindness AND make sure you visit The Rock House (24 hour) serves drinks and easy foods like sandwiches, hotdogs and soup. If you want to meet the friendliest people… this is the place to go. If you want 5 star dining, go elsewhere, if you want a 5 star room, go elsewhere but if you want the most beautiful beach and ocean and outstanding people… this is your place!

Paradisus Los Cayos: Great family resort for the price, we wanted a five star, and this could be it with some attention to detail

We had a fun time at this resort, the beach was absolutely beautiful. The service at the buffets and the beach bar was also good. The rooms were good, cleaned daily and restocked daily, the A/C worked well. The service at the snack bar and the bar beside the lobby was not good! Each time we went to both the snack bar and the lobby bar, we did not feel welcomed! The wifi kept disconnecting from the device so you constantly had to reconnect, as well, it was timed, so you had to go back to the  [... read more]lobby to ask for more time. My room also had an issue with the lock, so there were a number of times where I had to go to the reception desk to ask for the door to be unlocked and have my key reset. The resort also needed a fair bit of maintenance (roof work / paint). The hallways were never mopped, and the building roof looked like it was about to fall in some spots. Our last evening, it rained and the buffet and hallways were flooded, and the ceiling caved in in one part of the hallway. The restaurants were not the best. The worst part and the reason we will not return was that there were flies in the dinning room and cockroaches in the buffet, it was not one cockroach, it was an infestation. There were cockroaches running around in the bread, the plates, the other food stations, it was just gross! If the hotel got this infestation under control, and had more supervision around the cleanliness of the common areas, I would rate this resort higher, but as is, we will not return.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: 3rd time at this resort

Beautiful resort as always, however Covid has not been kind and Cuba still very much suffer. Gettimg supplies is very hard for them, they try their best. We all know cuban food is pretty bland but now it's even worse. Toilet paper was never an issue anywhere. You can't beat the super friendly staff alwsys eager to please and of course the Beautiful beach. We will diffently return.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Best Time Ever! Awesome Place to Visit

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Rooms were clean, We were scheduled to be in one building, however, I asked to move due to health reasons, and they accommodated and moved me to a ground floor room close to the main lobby. Beach had a bit of erosion due to weather, but overall it was amazing and clean. There were plenty of options for food. However, due to COVID and the economy some of the items were hit and miss on days. For example, one day would be no bread, but the next would have it, [... read more] they would run out of milk, cola, wine, etc. However replaced the next day. We never had an issue with the shortages personally. They have downsized considerably on entertainment, it is not the same as it was pre COVID. It still is an amazing place to relax, by the pool, beach, shopping etc. We have stayed at this resort 6 times and continue to love the atmosphere, friendly staff. It was perfect for us! We can't wait to go back next year, or maybe the fall. Just remember to bring lots of sunscreen, and bug spray as the mosquitos are bad in April :)

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Wonderful Resort

The resort is easy to navigate, the grounds are impressive, and the staff are wonderful. There was plenty of fresh veggies and fruit everyday and chefs were on hand to prepare fresh cooked eggs, omelettes, and other breakfast foods as well as fresh cooked fish and meats for lunch and supper. There was a variety of breads, cold meats and cheeses. The pools and beaches were spectacular. I would recommend this resort to anyone

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing resort

This is a really beautiful resort. Grounds are well maintained. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure their guests are happy. The rooms are big and need some updating but overall no complaints. I will go back.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Amazing resort

We were at this resort for 2 weeks, the resort is great , staff are amazing. They go out of their way to help in anyway. The food, the restaurants were all great, except for the international restaurant was so so, but everything else was great. The beach club restaurant and the 24 hour restaurant are very good also. The beach was nice great for snorkelling water is clean. The pool was nice the swim up bar and the staff there were great. The rooms were large and cleaned daily. One thing I would like to say is to all Canadian’s, Canadian money is widely used but please don’t use loonies or toonies as tips, they are no good to the staff, they cannot use them for anything, I would recommend taking 1 $ American bills for tips. Absolutely amazing hotel , place , accommodation , staff Very elegant . Sol Palmeras: Fantastic resort hotel

Very nice staff . Always want to do their best. Clean spacious rooms. Beautiful beach. Fantastic music played every day at the lobby in the evenings by talented musicians .Food nothing to complain about.

This resort gets top marks for friendly staff, food offerings, comfortable and spacious rooms, ease of access to everything, free amenities, location, food handling, water handling, beautiful beach, excellent pool area, access to loungers, beautiful gardens and grounds, easy a la carte bookings and so much more. Can't compliment them enough for making sure you are having a good time and have everything you need, and always prompt responses from customer service. Buffet had lots of options every day, plus breakfast omelette station, pasta bar at lunch and dinner, and a carving station for dinners; fresh bread and rolls all the time. Of course the weather was fantastic and the ocean incredible. Easy to get around and participate in activities, with beautiful views, a botanical garden area and nightly entertainment. Plus a club/disco for late night if you want. This place is ideal for couples and small groups, and you can even get a personalized heart, displayed all along the beach front to commemorate your visit and occasion.

Melia Cayo Coco: Very happy with resort

We would definitely return to this resort. Beach is absolutely beautiful. They do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. We stayed in a lagoon room which was very nice. Grounds are very well kept. Only complaint is the cats. On the bus to the resort we are told not to feed the cats or dogs because they are wild but people feed them so they are around the eating areas looking for food.
