We have been going to this resort for 15 years. And sometimes 2 to 3 times a year it’s like home away from home. Many shortages now but we don’t care the beach and the ocean is still the best. The employees are going through hard times as well and get most of the brunt of things they first hand get all the complaining.
They still smile and try to make the best of everything and are very creative with what they do have to work with.
If you are going on vacation for the food find somewhere else[... read more] to go. I have always managed well with what is provided. Guess I’m a good camper LOL

Memories Jibacoa: Amazing Resort for Adults Only
Everything is great at this resort although this is is my second time there and we were not able to use the pool or ocean for days after just arriving because of the storm that came in. They worked so hard to get everything back up and running. The pool was ready on the last day of our stay in the later afternoon and we did go in for a short time and we were able to go in the ocean one day. Both are beautiful! It’s a smaller resort so it’s easy to get to everything and the people there are so ni[... read more]ce. Nice that it’s an adult resort only too. I love children but sometimes it’s nice to get away with just adults. ? They treat you like family. Always serving with a smile. Hard workers. Great food. Beautiful beach and beautiful views from the ocean view rooms. Everyone is willing to help in anyway. Can’t say enough about f the people that work there and the entertainment is so much fun! Especially the piano bar where there is karaoke, a guitar player who was amazing and a piano player. The bartender Miguel was excellent in serving your drinks!
Great resort to go to if you’re looking for a more peaceful and smaller resort.

Blau Varadero: Amazing Resort Design
We were at Blau Varadero for 7 days in March 2024. The hotel is huge and spacious. Inside foyer and courtroom decorated with live plant festooned many floors high are quite impressive.
The Select room we stayed in was quite big and nicely equipped. The room service was thorough and efficient.
Room Tv program quality was terrible!
Food was availabe as buffet. There were many vegetables, fruits and baked goods. Pork and beef were poorly cooked. Chicken were hard to find but edible. There were[... read more] no eggs or egg containing meals.
The a la carte dinners were nicely set with the string quartet playing classical and popular music.
The food was nicely served but again pork and beef were poorly cooked (either chewy or hard to bite), we settled for chicken and we were OK.
Hospitality and eagerness of the staff to make guests happy were quite touching. For this alone we might consider going there again.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Amazing Staff
The Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort is beyond exceptional. The layout of the building and the locations of pools, restaurants, fitness center, spa, bars and beach make it easy to get anywhere. What makes this resort beyond exceptional is the amazing staff. Always with smiles, willing to help and do everything within their power to see you have absolutely nothing to worry about but relaxing.
Another great point is the "hop on hop off" bus comes right up to the resort entrance doors. The[... read more]re is no need to walk 3 blocks in the heat to wait for the bus. Not to mention the resort is the very first stop from the airport which lets you start vacationing first of all the arrivals.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Very clean
This hotel does their best. The facility is clean but seems like there isn’t enough staff for the large and busy resort. The grounds are beautiful. Food is typical for Cuba, nothing special. Location is very close to the airport. Decent value for the money spent.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Great Staff - Beautiful Beach!
We stayed here from March 19-30, 2024. We had an amazing time. If you go to Cuba with an open mind, you will have an amazing trip. The food is mediocre, you won't starve. Some days are surprisingly delicious, others are repetitive. You won't starve. The 4 flights to my room toned my legs, I didn't die. My boyfriend helped every single person he came across carry their luggage up the stairs, yes there are valets/bell hops but they are busy too.
The back side of Building 1 is hot because[... read more] it gets the sun from late morning straight through til it sets, we had AC and we rocked 24.5-27 every day and every night. Room was clean every day. We left toiletries and cash tip every for our housekeeper. 2L of water was left in our room every day. Sand was swept up, new towels.
No issues with pool/beach towels, ever. We swapped out when needed. All of the guys in the towel shack are lovely. Entertainment guys are awesome. Beach security and life guards were all amazing.
Beach was amazing, even with red flag the few mornings we had it, the sound was great and we read our books and dipped our toes in. The yellow flag is great fun to play in the water and never take your eyes off the waves coming lol. Big difference in temperature at the walkway, by the pool smoking hot, no wind. By the beach super windy and tolerable heat.
BBQ joint for lunch every day! That is the place to be. Get to know the wait staff - they are great humans. Carlos at the main buffet is a treat, we sat in his section every day. Just a sweet man. WIFI was great but sometimes they weren't able to print new tickets with login and password in which case you don't get wifi at all, you will live I promise, put your phone in your safe and continue on.
No vodka, no gin, no lots of stuff. They have slushie drinks and beer and rum. The shack down my the beach has cans of Moosehead! The Cafe is amazing, they ran out of coffee a few times for a few hours each time, it was fine. Cappucinos are great!
Go into Varadero and eat at Varadero 60 - it will blow your mind.
We went for our birthdays and were not diappointed

Gran Caribe Playa Caleta: DO NOT STAY HERE
My boyfriend and I stayed here from February 26th-March 4th, 2024. When we first arrived, check in was smoothe and there was a nice worker who took us to our room. Our room was run down. You could not see out of the mirror in the bathroom and not to mention the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor each time it was used. We did not have any hot water at all or water pressure until day 3 of our stay. The mini fridge in our room was rusted but worked well. No smell. Balcony falling apart. Bed [... read more]was comfy.Bottled water was never an issue until the last day when we had a different maid who did not leave us any water. Each day, our maid was phenomenal until the last day (different maid). She left our room very clean and always left us water. The maid on the last day was demanding us to leave our room when we simply asked her for just 5 more minutes because we just woke up. This resort was FULL of Russians. The buffet was the same food every day. Never seen bread until the last day! The people on the resort were bagging up the bread to take to their rooms... Only seen dessert once... Always had ice cream though. There was not enough seating at the buffet. My boyfriend and I often found ourselves needing to stand. Service was terrible. We had to defend for ourselves to get glasses and utensils and water. The waiters did not serve us. Staff were rude until they found out we were Canadian. There was only 7 Canadians there with us our entire stay. They ran out of beer multiple times and even coffee. The liquor mainly consisted of whiskey and rum. Bathrooms ALWAYS had toilet paper. Beach was incredible. Not enough huts though for the amount of people on the resort. Only an hour of entertainment at night. And, the entertainment was the same depending on which day of the week it was. Only seen day activities once by the pool. My boyfriend and I mainly ate at the snack bar by the pool which is only opened at certain times throughout the day. Only had a bun once for my hamburger throughout my entire stay. The food we ate made us sick each time (diarrhea) no matter where it was. No mosquitoes. The swim up bar by the pool was not in use. Small bar at the beach, minimal options. Wifi always worked and was fast.At the beach, catamarans/kayaks were free too use. Paddle boats were 10 dollars to use. Staff at this resort knew English well for the most part. If they did not, they had translate available and in use. Only two restaurants available at this resort and the reservations filled quickly. The cigar bar did NOT sell cigars... barely was ever opened. There is a gym but I did not see anyone using it. To get a taxi was no issue with front desk staff's help. Very expensive now in Cuba I find. Best bet is to take US and Canadian dollars. Pesos are a NO go - worth nothing. The bank is never a good experience! This resort is about a 5 minute drive into downtown-Varadero strip. We unfortunately did not have a good time at all this time. We have agreed to not go back to Cuba until the shortages can somewhat resolve. I have been to Cuba 6 times now and have NEVER seen it like that... People on our resort who had been there 23 times said they'd never be back.. When we got back to Canada, we were super happy to hear English and not Russian... LOL. A worker there told us it was a Russian owned resort? I was so mad to see most Russians vaping when I left mine home due to being illegal? While sleeping one night, there was a RAT or rodent of some sort that had chewed through my bag of sunflower seeds and made a mess everywhere. Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean on the 7th floor and the elevator was always working and fast. Weather was great and the beach was beautiful. The pool was always clean and lots of seating available. Drinks on this resort are very minimal. Never had pinna coladas, etc.. A few cocktails only, if you were lucky that day. Overall, this resort sucks, sorry. I need to spread awareness. DO YOUR RESEARCH. I've learned the hard way.. my fault for choosing low star and not properly researching. Will go back to Cuba for the beach and people in a few year's time. NOT to this resort.

Los Delfines: Excellent location. Superb Staff
This was my third trip to Cuba and my first all inclusive resort (usually do Casa Particulars). The reviews had me a little concerned but then I remembered that folks like to complain.
I had a great experience. The rooms were clean and well tended to. The staff were super friendly and added to my trip enjoyment. (my only "problem" was the blanket on the bed was the size of a couch blanket. I would have liked a bigger blanket) My room flooded one night during a tropical storm but that [... read more]only added to the tales to tell when I got home.
Overall the food was plentiful and tasty. On days when I wasn't feeling the buffet it was a short walk to several great restaurants where I found tasty breakfasts, and huge lobster tails for less than 20 CDN per meal.
There was lots of entertainment options and the safety of Cuba made exploring a breeze.
I am already planning my next trip and Los Delfines will definately be my resort of choice.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Beautiful hotel
Breakfast was so poor, lunch and dinner was okay, but for five stars could be better. Drinks not much to choose, no salt and pepper on the table, I was eating unsalted food. Waiting always to long for waiters to come ask us for drinks. One young guy at the bar was a nice and really good worker. So, it’s a beautiful place, but needs more improvement.
Grounds are well kept and staff are great. The food (March 2024) was better than expected despite the shortages that all of the hotels were having. (ie. bread on some days only). Checkin was fast and efficient.
Unlike neighboring hotels there is not a lot of drink service in the lounge area or beach. Not a problem though as there are two bars within 50 meters of the beach.
Downsides. Room: total lack of hot water in the shower (the sink had hot water though). The beds were showing there a[... read more]ge and I did not find them comfortable. They call a king room one with two utility-grade single beds pushed together. The room cleanliness was fine.
The lobby is smaller than in other hotels and does not have a lot of seating for groups or for lounging and having a drink and seating was in good shape.
Beach: Very deep and flat. The sand was not as fine or shell free as other areas. There were also rocky areas at waist level in some spots so water shoes are recommended. The hotel did suffer from the number of worn out and broken loungers. Some altercations with other guests over "parking" or reserving avaialble loungers ensued.
Coffee and drinks were plentiful and bar service was good. There was also a very nice little cigar bar with bar service which I enjoyed.
Overall, recommended.

Hotel Blau Las Morlas Varadero Beach: Average resort
Most of the staff are lovely but don’t expect good food. The buffet was mediocre at best, and the la carte restaurant wasn’t much better. It was great having the lobby bar open 24 hrs/day though. The location is perfect, a short walk to the beautiful beach and an easy walk into town. We enjoyed our vacation because we made the best of it, but definitely would not stay here again.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Great time
Clean, friendly, the most beautiful beach. For us, (retired) the perfect size.
Food you don’t expect good food in Cuba. But cooked food was always cold.
Wifi was awful and menus were QR Codes ????difficult to open without wifi.
No Coffee maker in room. We didn’t find that to big a deal.
All the staff was wonderful and lots of them that switch rolls, so instead of tipping one, you’re tipping 3 or 4.
That being said. We will return.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful Resort
The grounds and public areas were beautiful and well maintained. Our rooms were exactly what we expected with the amenities we were looking for. The resort went out of their way to meet all of our booking requests and we all had lovely rooms on the same floor. The beach was outstanding and the resort facilities met all of our needs. The staff continually went above and beyond to meet our requests and they were warm and friendly throughout our stay!

Melia Las Antillas: Beautiful staff, beautiful country!
We booked for a last minute 4 day get away and had never been to this resort before. The rating was 4.5 and the reviews proved to be correct ie. not a 4.5 that we are used to, but closer to a 4 or even a bit lower only because of the age of resort. The most important thing for us is that the facility is clean and it definitely was. It was older and some parts of the room(6301-would recommend btw), were well worn, however this part of the hotel was very central to the pool, beach and the dini[... read more]ng areas and quite honestly the front lobby. Loved the location of our room.
Cuba is going through a crisis now(all the workers had 2-3 hours of electricity each day at their homes and lucky to have water). The staff were all incredible...everyone we encountered we polite, accommodating and were there to ensure your stay was pleasant. We knew the food shortages going on due to supply issues so we arrived with our eyes wide open. The resort had no wine for a few days, but some arrived after day 2. You will not get name brand expensive liquor here, and if you like a lean mean mohito, you will need to visit Juan by the pool bar. This was the only place I could get soda was as well. The expressos and americanos at the main lobby were incredible. Night life was good and good events planned throughout the day. Cuban day was my favourite with authentic food being served. St. Patricks day was fun and we were happy we brought some fun stuff to share with the staff. We tipped alot and this was soooo appreciated. We normally come back from an all inclusive weighing 10 lbs more(lol), from eating so much, however, this time we ate in moderation as there weren't a whole bunch of food selections. Desserts were limited but the ice cream they had was good! Good fruit throughout the day and options to have fried eggs, omelettes, chicken, pork or beef cooked in front of you, were all available.
Missed seeing the flowers on the grounds as they lacked the availability of water and the grounds were very dry.
Robyn at Trip Central did a great job preparing us for our trip. Not too impressed with Sunwing making us wait one hour on the plane before departure from Toronto and then when we arrived, over an hour on the bus and they were still waiting for 3 more flights to arrive. We decided with another couple to get a taxi (cost $40 US) total and I know we arrived at least 1.5 hours before everyone else!
