Nice, small and silent resort, with acceptable accommodation, friendly staff, good sport activities – even for “crocodiles†and nice entertainments. For us food and service were excellent. Beach is sandy and shadowed by trees with stones in entrance in water but with nice spots for snorkeling, no motor boat activities. Summary, excellent place for snorkeling and relax, only care when you exchange money.

Hotel Acuazul: Everything you need on a budget
Very simple hotel, one restaurant, one pool and a couple of bars. Beach is across the street a couple blocks away. The food was better than some places I've paid more to stay at. Staff were very friendly and because the property isn't that big, it never seems crowded in the public areas. For the price, it was great.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Blau Marina
Please get more food. A different variety of foods would be awesome. I've been to different resorts in Cuba. All over Cuba and I think that it is possible to have decent food.
Other than that, great staff and enjoyable time...was there in June 2015

Resonance Blu Varadero: Beautiful resort, poor service
The resort is beautiful. Beach is lovely. Rooms are clean. However, the service is below average. Entertainment staff at the pool are very rude and unhelpful, as this is a huge resort and they laugh at you if you ask questions. After check out you are offered a room to shower and change, however, they have no one cleaning these rooms in between guests! Walked into the most disgusting mess when wanted to shower. Concierge staff acted as if nothing was wrong after I had voiced my concerns to them.[... read more] Overall, management and staff need to check their attitude and remember that rolling eyes at guests and being sarcastic is unacceptable in service industry. If this resort was managed better, it'd definitely be one my of favourites.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great Vacation!
Hotel was gorgeous, room was so so - moldy smell and toilet sewer. Room was spacious and clean. Bar was busy but always got drinks, but the drinks were not consistent. Food was cuba ok but lots of variety, highly recommend to step off property and eat at a private restaurant. Butler service was great, he brought us mangoes from his market and arranged private tours for us. Reasonable pricing too! The ground was well kept and beach was stunning with clear warm waters.

Blau Varadero: Nice resort
The Blau Varadero is a hotel not a bungalow-type of resort. Rooms were clean and spacious, but tired. Could always find something to eat (hit the carver first). The elevators were excruciatingly slow.

Melia Marina Varadero: Wonderful stay
Resort, clean comfortable, open airy spaces througout the property, the marina is beautiful, the pool enjoyable, the beach fantastic. Be sure to enjoy the spa. It is elegant inside and I took advantage of a wonderful massage during my stay.
Food- fantastic! I'm a plant based eater and there was too much choice! I needed to pace myself each day because of the abundance of fresh foods. My children loved the daily buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also many other restaurant choices on site to[... read more] take advantage of. White glove service, friendly, prompt, mindful service.
Staff. Gracious is the word that comes to mind.
Safety- Felt completely safe in all areas of the resort.
Amenities- pool, spa, restaurants, bars, activites at the beach and pool each day.
Entertainment- You must enjoy the shows each night at 9:30 p.m. and the live music in the lobby bar each evening starting at 7 p.m.
Check out time is noon and our departure to the airport was not until 6:30 p.m. We were encouraged to make full use of the resort until that time, and were provided a courtesy room for 30 minutes prior to our departure to shower and change after a day at the pool, beach and restaurants.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great resort for a getaway
Grounds are beautiful! Service was great, the beach is beautiful, the pools are fantastic ... Although we spent all of our time at the beach / ocean. The room had that musty smell when we checked in, but once we had the air conditioning on it was fine. highly recommend the Havana tour!
We have travelled to Cuba for the last 3 years, different areas always last minute and different star ratings. Usually receiving great value and service for our dollar. We made the most of this vacation by focusing on the positive, for example the view of the mountains when your out on the ocean and a couple of the staff members who went above and beyond (thanks Vidia) however when we checked in we were not taken to our room. Just given a key and a point in the direction of hundreds of bungalows[... read more] my children and I trecking our suitcases in the heat. The room was clean but the pool was only half full of green water and garbage all around. The beach was full of seaweeds and very rocky. That said the gardeners were maintaining the grounds daily. A lttle further along though at breezes you could snorkel and see tropical fish and the coral reef. Cuba is not known for food but this was the worst experience we've had. They didnt have scheduled shows (which we look forward to) just a singer and no daily activities at all. I am grateful I didnt pay too much....we did enjoy our outing to Havana though on the upside. So overall I would not recommend this resort especially if you have children! I cant believe the travel agent did!?

Memories Jibacoa: Lovein'it as always!
This is our 4th time visit Jibacoa. The BEST thing about Jibacoa, aside from the 4.5 stars facility and environment (best snorkeling location), is friendly staff. Friendly and warm smiles are the main reasons that attract me to keep returning this little paradise, Jabacoa.
I sincerely look forward for my next visit in 2016.

Palma Real: not bad
The room maintenance is worst. Everything else is okay. The food and the service is good. The pool maintenance can be improved. The beaches are good. The hotel maintenance is okay. The best part is evening dance performance both on the ground and in the water.

Hotel Villa Cuba: Would definitely go back
Very old hotel, but clean. Employees are amazing. WONDERFUL waiters and bartenders: Corzo, Libia, Jorge, Angela, Carlos -Umberto and Alex, just to name a few. Beach is fantastic! Lifeguards and security are the best! Don't listen to negative comments, tourists are just miserable. Can't wait to go back.

Melia Las Americas: Nice vacation
This is a beautiful hotel with a well-maintained beachfront. My girlfriend and I had a great time. I think it's a bit of an older resort (ie: older people), so if that suits your personality then it might be for you. We're not the party type - we enjoyed relaxing on the beach, hanging out in the water, eating at the restaurants, and taking advantage of the free room service.
Heads up: I don't know if it's customary for Cuban hotels to not include free internet in the lobby, but at Melia Las Ame[... read more]ricas you have to pay for internet cards: 2.50 CUC for 1 hour of internet service. This was highly inconvenient because I couldn't trade my stocks throughout the day like I usually do, and it happened to be during the Greek default so it was a little unlucky. The internet connection doesn't reach the bedroom either.
I almost needed business services (print/scan) and the reception was finding a way to accommodate me which was nice. Turned out I didn't need it but I appreciated their help. The front desk is a little slow for the most part, but they get the job done.
The food: there are a few options. For a one week stay you get 3 a la carte reservations.
Italian A la carte (reservation required) - food was OK, atmosphere was nice. tip: don't get the gnocci
Japanese Teppanyaki style - you sit with other guests and the atmosphere is a little more social. We met other couples who were really nice. One group kept staring at me because I know how to use chopsticks to eat rice. The teppanyaki grill is basically used to make fried rice...
La Arcada (international a la carte) - Food OK, atmosphere is more fancy. They had a live string quartet that was the focus of the entire room. The musicians came around and asked for requests. That was a really nice touch. The food upset my stomach though.
BBQ by the pool (dunno the name) - This was the best restaurant hands down. We went on our second day for lunch. The chicken was the tastiest thing I had during my entire vacation! Desert was delicious coconut ice cream. By our last day we wanted to return, however it was completely demolished for renovations. If it's open, definitely eat here. We saw people eating here for dinner, but we were never offered to sit here for dinner (probably because of the renovations?)
Buffet - My girlfriend has a nut allergy. If you have a nut allergy DO NOT get the pasta that is made in front of you. The chef cooks one dish then uses the same pan for the next, and next, and so on. I believe the pesto has pine nuts. My girlfriend had an allergic reaction. It was really scary. Thankfully we had benedryl. It was a little bothersome because we asked all staff if there were nuts and they all confidently answered No. The meat is ok. The breakfast at the buffet is pretty good though.
Cafe - Our go to food was the hotdog and fries. It's not bad! The coffee here is probably the best too. 24 hours + solid service here.
I realize you don't go to Cuba for the resort food, but it is definitely one of the more important aspects of my choice.
Cleanliness of the room was one of the high points. Probably the best I've experienced.

Melia Marina Varadero: Excellent resort overall
Newer hotel / resort with very good facilities. The food could be better. Out of 3 restaurants, one is decent (South American) the other 2 (French/Asian) has the form but not the substance. The buffet is ok. Staff is helpful and overall very good

Grand Memories Varadero: Great time at Grand Memories
I stayed at the grand memories varadero from june 28-july 5 with my fiance and another couple we were all between 22-25. Over all a great hotel, big hotel, easy to get around we stayed in room 21310 and it was a nice room the bathroom was clean always hot water. Fridge always stalked, and my room was always cold! Our room was right infront of the pool so it was great we stayed at the pool almost everyday. Breakfast was good, omlet station was good. Lunch was amazing in the buffet it started at 1[... read more]. There was a meat bbq and a fish bbq station which was awesome. No salad though, i felt like i didnt eat any veggies the whole trip and no salad i enjoy salad with my meals. The snack bar was also good, but during lunch the staff was really rude, we always had a problem with the servers at lunch at the snack bar. I really enjoyed the Hawaiian pizza and the french fries of course. Dinner was not that great, lunch was much better. We only had 1 al la cart, but booked for 2. First one was italian we ended up going there and it was gourmet which was french, we were upset we were looking forward to the italian. So we ended up at japanese which was booked for another day and it was not that good so we didnt go for the one we booked. The drinks also were not that good. Pina coloda was always watering. They didnt have any strawberry maragritas or different kinda of fruit drinks only lime slush and watering pina colodas. I ended up drinking sparkling water at every meal and lime drinks and mojitos which were really good with fresh mint. We booked a excursion the bus didnt even end up picking us up it was 45 minutes late then we found out it wasnt coming. We got our money back. The weather was AMAZING !! so hot everyday, it was amazing the weather. The staff were really nice. The entertainment staff were really nice and funny. The bartenders at the pool were also really nice. The evening staff at the snack bar gave us a hassel with taking food when we wanted to eat it in our room we seen locals walking away with bottles of ketchup and food in napkins lol. A nice man i believe named giuliano was very nice and was happy to wrap up some food for us to take to go. I spoke to him for a little i was happy to leave him a nice tip. I dont think i need to leave people tips who dont deserve it , sorry i dont feel bad if i dont leave it if i dont think your kind and deserve it. If i am waiting for a drink for longer then 5-10 minutes and i see you walk by me a few times serving another person and you know im waiting , thats very rude. Over all i had a great time i would give this hotel a 7.5/10, the ice coffees and cappucinos were amazing loved them ! I would recommend this hotel its a great place for a great week of relaxation in paradise !!

Resonance Blu Varadero: Good resort for money.
Nice stay with family of teenage kids. Lots going on all the time - large resort. Diamond club is a must. Food fine - nobody starved but nothing fantastic. Book restaurants as soon as you arrive they get booked up fast. Good staff. Overall good time.
