Ancora Private Residence Yacht Club and Marina: Very pleasant resort

Lovely resort. Check in was very quick and efficient. As it was our wedding anniversary we were pleasantly surprise when they upgraded our apartment which was enormous. The food and staff were amazing. The beach was very small and unfortunately after two days we were unable to swim as there was to much seaweed (even though the staff tried to clear it away) The staff were very helpful and the entertainment was very good. Everything was very clean .

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great resort and weather

Ambar was the nicest section of the report and is highly recommended. Good food, great wait staff and polls. Only drawback was hotel staff only recommended off site excursions to affiliated organizations.

Breathless Punta Cana Resort: Awesome staff!!

Staff are really friendly and constantly making sure that all your needs are met. Very impressive customer service! We highly recommend this resort for folks between the age of 35-55. We did appreciate the amenities of the exhale club....excellent value for money.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Amazing holiday!

The hotel itself was great; grounds super! Staff really nice and helpful. Ran out of towels a few days - perhaps there should be a dedicated area for the Royal Club clients for towels. Other than that it was very busy but absolutely no problem in our case.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Fantastic resort!

Resort is superb. Food is terrific. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Rooms are big and spacious. A great thank you to Kevin the Guest Sevices Manager and Rene our Guest Relations person. We ate at the Don Pablo, Mikado Teppanyaki and Portofino. We had a Gran Bahia spa relaxing carribean massage. We played a round of golf on the superb Robert Trent Jones Riviera Maya golf course. Overall we had a terrific holiday and would return in a flash!

Riu Bambu: Overall good resort for the money.

This hotel had great al la cartes. The grounds were well kept. Rooms were great. Lots of activities through the day to keep you entertained and at night. Staff were friendly. Didn't have to wait much in lines for the buffets. Beach was nice.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Me Encanta Punta Cana!

I visited this resort in 1999 on my very first trip south/to an all-inclusive. Since then I have been to Nassau, Varadero, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Maya, and Antigua and have never found anything that compares to Punta Cana, namely for the beach. It is absolutely incredible! Unless you're not a fan of coconut palms, white sand, or calm turquoise ocean. The resort, though just an average 3.5 star resort 15 years ago (and take note that the tripcentral photos are from that time, not curre [... read more]nt, check the tour operator photos for current ones), has been completely renovated and upgraded. So much so that it was unrecognizable. I would have had no idea I had returned to the same place (though I believe this adults only section has been moved down the beach a touch) if not for the beach and knowing we had been at this far end of Bavaro beach. I spent all day every day on this beach and could not have been happier. I spent no time in the pool area but it did look nice, clean, and had some areas shaded by canvas. The room buildings are three storeys, ocean front, plantation style I would say with palmed courtyards in between them and within them. My first room was in building 1 overlooking the theatre and lobby bar so I asked to move (which could only be accomodated two nights later) since I like to go to bed early/rise early. It was quite loud until midnight/1am ish. My second room was in building 5 and was very quiet. Though for some reason did not have the lovely blue accent wall, bedskirts, and drapes (instead they were maroon and gold, not nearly as tropical). The beds, pillows were quite comfortable. Minibar refilled daily. Bathrobe and slippers. In room safe (no fee). Large double sinked vanity area of the bathroom. No complaints there. Food was good, lots of variety. I only went to the buffets, El Caribe (main buffet) and La Brisa (lunch only). And the views while you're eating are wonderful especially at La Brisa as it juts right onto the beach. Service was good. I was maybe a little neglected being solo I felt, they seemed friendlier with couples, groups. One difference I noticed since originally visiting is that they all speak very good english and almost insist on it even when you speak spanish to them. In this way I kind of felt the resort had lost some of its Dominican charm since I'd first been. Also I remember merengue and other latin music being constant back in 1999 but now the resort plays zen type music coming out of rock-shaped speakers lining the footpaths and elevator music ABBA covers on repeat at the buffet. That was really disappointing. I missed being immersed in that part of their culture. The little bit the Actividades team played and coming from the tour boats passing by the beach had to suffice. Walking down the beach was a lovely daily routine, for me and a lot of other people. To the left there is a "local" area with a shopping "complex", beach bar, and "marina" where a lot of tourboats seemed to depart from. Then another resort (the Mariana?), another "local" area, then the Melia resort. That's as far as I went and could happily confirm the Barcelo has the best beach (though the view out to sea has been ruined by a couple platforms, one is the dolphin tour I know). Walking to the right is the Palace Deluxe section of the Barcelo resort and then an amazing stretch of virgin beach. I especially loved that walk. Grounds around the resort are immaculate and workers were always busy on the beach cleaning up any seaweed washing ashore. The actual beach chairs are the best I've ever seen at an all inclusive and never had any issues getting beach towels replaced. This was my first time to an adults only resort and had never had any "issues" with the children at other resorts but I was quite glad I had chosen to stay here instead of at the Palace section as it was an absolute zoo, I'd never seen so many families with young children on vacation. The quiet at the Beach section was very nice. And it is just a much more pleasant atmosphere at the Beach section all around. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this resort. Of course there are fancier, higher-end resorts out there but if you want a true beach vacation, I can't fathom any place better than the Barcelo Bavaro Beach.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: The "Level" is the only way to go!

The "Level" is the only way to go! Excellent service, very nice room, great food, beautiful resort, very clean. We stayed in the adults only section. No lineups for anything. The 4 restaurants in the Level lounge are very good. The resort is massive but golf carts are available 24hrs to take you wherever you like.

Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: This was an amazing resort!

We just returned from a one week vacation at the Sirenis Tropical Resorts. My sister and I took our aging parents and have to say our stay was even better than anticipated. The grounds are beautiful and well mainted. Lots of flowers in bloom. The walkways are easy for seniors and well lit up at night. Food is excellent with lots of selection. Have been to several resorts in Punta Cana and this resort is as good or better than the others. My parents would like to go back next year.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: wonderful sun and fun

we had 13 of us, 2 14 year olds and the rest adults and we had a great time no complaints at all the place was beautiful and clean good food and we had 1 guy who ate 24/7 he loved it. the service was great the maids were great the pool was clean the beach was wonderful and the snokeling was nice and you did not have to go out far to do it. Whala Bavaro: 2 star resort

you get what you pay for...rooms were subpar...salt water showers...very rustic in need of some needed upgrades. Staff was nice and food was average but staff at reception was not always available. Will not be back.

Grand Palladium Palace: Beautiful resort and great service!!

We loved food, there was more than enough variety of food. We tried 3 restaurants and service was very good. we loved the resort beautiful beach. Resort has a market too. It is a huge resort so there is enough to walk around.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Slightly Above average overall

The resort had great landscaping. Beach was spacious and pools. Only two complaints...food was below average, meat over cooked and food was sometimes hard and dry. Other downfall is the majority of the staff could not speak English...mostly spoke Spanish. Kids had a great time overall. The front desk was too lay back. Had to complain about our room with the strong smell of cleaning chemical they try to use to cover the smoking and mouldy room. Kept asking me to come back in 2-4 hours and to spea [... read more]k to supervisor. Spoke to 8 different person and with persistency finally got a room change the second day. I had some reaction to the air in the room that took me 3 days to clear my lungs and 2 restless nights. Staff were friendly in the restaurants n through out the hotel...just didn't speak English

Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: Great family resort

I read some bad reviews about this resort before going and was worried. However it was a great resort. Food was good and our room was nice on the tropical suits side. Building I. People were helpful, friendly and nice. Overall I would rate this resort a 4*.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Fun resort!

It is big, but there is something to do for young and old! You definitely will not be bored because there is always something going on. Food was good and lots of variety. Service was good and always there if you need help. Rooms are clean, cozy and it was nice to have 24hr room service. Loved how we were close to the beach, villa 5! We had 4 a la carte dinners but 2 were already chosen for us, I would of liked to choose all 4. Ocean Blue and Sand: Phenomenal Resort

great grounds, amazing food. Will come again. The water is blie, the drinks are cold, the weather is warm. This resort was a great vacation and destination wedding locations! Highly recommend this resort to anyone.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Nice but way to crowed

Very large resort hard to get seats at pool, beach or shows even lobby was packed at all times. On several occasions seated at buffet only to return and someone else seated at your table. Very child friendly avoid if not your thing. Rooms are definately showing thier age. Was not cheap vacation and have stayed at much nicer resorts. I was dissapointed and would not stay at a Grand Bahia again. Grounds were nice. There was no extra touches. Room safe was not included, in room fridge was not resto [... read more]cked daily. Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Immaculate Resort - Great People

The grounds were immaculate. The rooms were extremely well kept. It is a very large resort but very well organized. They made a special effort for our anniversary. The restaurant at the beach was absolutely amazing.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Something for Everyone

Lots of activities and a variety of beach/pool areas to enjoy. The resort is very well planned. There are about 10 restaurants to choose from and the food and service are good. There is a very active pool area and 2 adult pools which are beautiful. Overall it is has something to offer everyone. The only thing missing are more dining/bar areas with an ocean view.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Satisfied

Great staff, food...just found it too big-larger than I am used to. A lot of the drivers could not communicate as they spoke very little English. it was very easy to get lost by going down the beach too far and getting on the wrong train line.
