Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria

We enjoyed our stay in Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria very much; white sand beach with crystal clear water, ocean view rooms and good foods and service. The night entertainments were mostly a very loud disco in the lobby which was annoying to us most of the time.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Amazing Beach

Good size rooms with a very good air conditioning system. Food was OK. People amazing. Fantastic massages at the SPA. Good entertainment and plenty of things to do. I just wish for more selections at the buffet.

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Beautiful !!

We were there in August and it was so good to be back at this hotel and Cuba’s amazing beach. Transfers to and from the hotel were great. Very quick check in and check out at front Desk. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The staff at the buffet very friendly, but I think they should do something about the flies around the food, it’s very bad. We just ate things that were cooked in front of us to make sure that it was safe to eat, we didn’t want to get sick, but there was always food [... read more] to eat, you don’t go hungry. Beach was wonderful and beautiful. This second time at this hotel, we upgraded to the adults only fare and we were so glad, we got our own adult only pool, bar and snack bar, it was worth the money. We will be going back next year.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Grand serinus resort

The hotel was very good. I give 8.5 because there was no elevator. The hotel offered good shows / entertainment every night. The down fall was the food. The food was very salt and it was hard to eat. I talked to the manager about this salt. After there was less salt in the food. The food is 3 out 10. The hotel need to improve on the food, people in Cuba are very helpful and polite. It safe to move around on the resort at night. This hotel is the best if you don’t care about the food

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Nice quite resort with amazing beach and some amazing staff

Great hotel. Beach was everything i wanted, amazing, (I go for the beach), i did not starve as there were an assortment of food. Lots at breakfast, always fresh fruits throughout the day. Shoutout to Rozmay, Miguel (took care of our room), the entertainment team and the dancers. There were so many more lovely warm people.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Not what we remembered

This was our 3rd trip to this resort and it was definitely not what we remembered. Ensenachos beach is by far the best beach we have ever been on and we’ve been all over. The beach absolutely lived up to what we were expecting and remembered. The food was okay, you don’t go to Cuba for the food. As far as everything else, it failed. The room was awful, toilet was leaking water on the floor, the safe was ripped off the wall and no hot water the whole time we were there. The hotel did noth [... read more]ing, we went down to the front desk everyday for the same things and everyday they said it would be taken care of … it never was. I understand that Covid hit the island hard and still is but there is no excuse for not for fixing the things that were wrong with our room. I could have fixed them if I had some tools. Very sad to say but this is our last trip to this resort because you can’t find a better beach.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Fell in love with Cuba, fell in love with Dhawa!

I am so glad we decided to go with Dhawa for our first trip to Cuba. The entire package was incredibly cost effective with absolutely everything planned and taken care of for us from our flights to our hotel transfer. We felt like celebrities being welcomed at the airport by our transport, and almost the entire way to the hotel on the bus our advisor provided useful information and some history of Cuba - it was like a free tour! The resort is absolutely beautiful and the staff in all the restau [... read more]rants and bars and for all the amenities and activities were like family members welcoming us home; they couldn't have been nicer. The lobby staff seemed a bit more stressed and scattered, which is understandable as they get very busy sometimes. It is a newer resort so everything is absolutely gorgeous, but it does mean that they are still figuring out some of the amenities and activities - so take the entertainment with a pinch of salt, and be prepared for a whole lot of dancing! The gym is also a bit smaller, but there is a nice balance of cardio and strength based equipment and the staff are so friendly in there. The trip advisor was so very helpful with all of the tours that we wanted to do, and we saw some incredible things for such reasonable prices - I would recommend literally ever tour, and would suggest doing more than 1. The only minor inconvenience we had is that the wifi is done in units of hours, and is only available to "top-up" between 9am and 5pm. Sometimes after not using my phone for the day, I was still unable to connect to the wifi, making it a little difficult to contact friends at the resort to figure out when we were meeting for dinner and where. We just got good at having a schedule and sticking to it, and took it as a welcome break from our phones. The views really are stunning here, but I think the staff really made Dhawa the ultimate experience for us and would absolutely go again.

Loved the rooms very clean pool was amazing service on the restaurant was great enjoyed working out daily in the fitness room ocean was spectacular the grounds were well kept the butler service was great the visitors were enjoying the place also

Resort was beautiful, employees all very attentive and friendly Only issue was being locked out of our room 3/7 days as it keep breaking and never got fixed properly only down side no access to ur belongings lol

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Amazing!

We stayed at the Ansagna from Aug 6-13.Everything was great! The hotel and our room were nice and clean. The food was very good and lots of choices. The staff was very nice, polite & extremely friendly. LOVED this resort, beach, people and would recommend it to everyone.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Cuba Lover - Fabulous Resort

Thank you to Rachel & Heather for booking our fabulous vacation. I just arrived home from the Royalton, Cayo Santa Mario a few days back.  I was there in March 2022 with my husband, and we had an amazing 10 days.  I was lucky to return last week.  We were the Mother Daughter Duo and once again had 7 fabulous days!!  I want to thank all the staff, kindest most hard-working people I have met! They all go above and beyond to provide you with any request as much as they are able, zero to compl [... read more]ain about!!  Our room was perfect, we lacked for nothing.  We enjoyed pool days with music and fun, we enjoyed the most beautiful beach playing in the waves and tanning and we did the all-day catamaran excursion, we love snorkeling, amazing lobster lunch and a swim of the boat at a beach.  It was all really just a great trip that this Momma got to enjoy her kiddo for a full week of fun in the sun together.  Until I see you all again my Cuban friends, Thank you!!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Not great

Hotel outdated...needs lots of repairs. Paint coming off of walls. Seen cockroaches in dining hall around the food. Beach was beautiful but way to many rocks, stubbed toe many many times. Front counter staff very nice but restaurant staff catered to Cubans before Canadians. Pool dirty people eating and drinking in pool...stepped on chicken bones.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Relaxed and Awesome Vacation

This hotel exceeded my expectations, I have been to Cuba - Cayo Coco, Holguin, Santa Maria around 11 times, however have never experienced a hassle free vacation like this one at the Royalton. Services by maid, butler, waitress and front desk was efficient and friendly. Food is very good for Cuba, very tasty. Beach is amazing. we stayed at the beach all day. Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Fabulous resort

This resort was very clean, grounds were well taken care of. Handy at the 24 hr bar made me a special drink that was great, Richar at the Buffet always made sure I was always happy, very attentive. Thank you for a great week!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Disappointing

This hotel is definitely not a 5 star but a two star at best. Needs many repairs and definitely a paint job. Rooms are old and tired looking. Both drawers on the night strand would fall out, only one track. Also dresser had two drawers that wouldn’t close. Maid service was always missing an article ex. Towels, water in fridge, toilet paper 4 out of 7 days. Path to rooms was in darkness, we had to use cell phone flashlight as many other guest were doing. They do not replace the bulbs. On  [... read more]arrival no one to help with luggage. My husband had to try to carry them up a large flight of stairs. Many rest rooms are locked on the property and no elevators were running. Only two restaurants were operational and the buffet. Gets pretty boring and many items unavailable on the a la carte menu. Only rosee wine offered. One day and night no water so you could not flush toilet. Also no air conditioning following morning. Perspiration pouring off of us. Food was very Mediocre No bread for hamburgers one day. Only positive the beach was absolutely beautiful and staff pretty friendly. Not up to Iberostar standards at all.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Incredible Resort!!!

Amazing place to relax! I enjoyed my days with my family. Especially with my 93 years old mom. The facilities are great, the staff were very kind and helpful. I appreciate very much their good essence in delivering their services to all of us. The Animation Team is spectacular...great work!!

Melia Buenavista: Very good place to stay and relax

My wife and I stayed in Melia Buenavista resort May 17 to May 24 2022. Overall, we have enjoyed our staying a lot and would rate the resort with 4 stars. Here are the things we liked: Small size and quiet environment. This is an adult only resort and it’s quite small and boutique-style – there’s about 102 units, so even when it’s at full capacity, there’s only sightly over 200 guests at the resort. This ensures a quiet and relaxed environment, no large noisy crowds, no [... read more] line-ups for food, no competition for beach chairs – there’s always plenty of them available on the beach. Boutique style residences. Some of the accommodations at he resort are duplex-style villas, that’s where we stayed. The room is spacious, with two terrace at each end, outdoor and indoor showers, bathtub, separate closet area, large sitting area, fridge, coffee makers – very nice amenities. 3 Beaches. The resort has three beaches, which is an awesome feature. It allows already small number of people to spread out and have a good rest. The three beaches are different: one is fairly shallow, you mainly walk you knees or waist into the water, it’s good for sitting in the water, having drinks and watching sunsets. The resort has gazebos in the water at that beach, which shelter you from direct sun and nearby bar keeps drinks coming. The second beach is a snorkeling place – it gets deep pretty close to the shore, so you can snorkel right off the shore without travelling anywhere, which is very convenient. There’s plenty of fish/corals to see in the water to keep you occupied for hours, we really enjoyed this one. The third one is the main beach, real gem – the iconic white sand/blue ocean beach Cuba is famous for! It’s quite long, clean, has a bar and lots of beach lounging chairs, umbrellas and gazeboes. At the far end area, to keep it discreet, people go topless or nude. Entertainment. There’s entertainment during the day – dance or aqua aerobics class for the active folks in the main pool, that’s a lot of fun! Also, there’s some entertainment in the evenings, no big shows, but a band usually plays and sings, it’s really nice to sit around and enjoy it. Personnel. Very helpful people at the reception and with fluent English. Best ever bar folks. All resort people were very nice and friendly. They always greet you and help you get around/answer your questions. Specifically, guests are assigned a couple of butlers who see to your needs and do some chores for you. That is an awesome service – if you want to order food/drinks to your room or have an excursion booked or anything else – you don’t need to go to the reception, you talk to your butler – and things get done quickly and efficiently. Our butlers were Armando and Joan, both awesome, super-friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and always there to help you! Thank you, Armando and Joan, for making our stay at this resort so enjoyable and we hope to see you again! Things that need improvement We think that most things which need improvement are the result of the pandemic and 2 year shut down of Cuban resorts. It takes time to get the resort back to its best, it’s understandable. This resort has opened up a few months ago (around December of 2021), so we’ve seen an ongoing effort from the resort people to identify and fix all the issues. Facilities. Need maintenance/some repairs. Although the living quarters are bright and spacious and have all necessities in them, a number of things needs maintenance and fine-tuning after 2 years of all Cuban resorts been shut down due to pandemic. Specifically, water pressure was low at times. For a couple of days the resort had to shut the water down completely for a few hours – for maintenance and repairs. The resort is working continuously to identify and fix these issues and personnel was very accommodating and courteous during repair times, provided guests with information and access to alternate sources of water. Also, some small updates may be needed to wall paint, chairs or other small things, but overall everything’s in a good shape or getting there, just a bit rusty/dusty after a long shut-down. Beaches Need maintenance. They are the best we’ve seen in and outside Cuba! But, again, due to long shut down some things are waiting to be fixed. Specifically, in-water gazebos at the shallow beach used to have hammocks in them (the resort still has a picture of them on their website 😊), but no hammocks when we were there, so would be good to get them back! Also, one of the gazeboes was broken and laying as a sad pile of wood on the beach. The resort may also consider adding water sports/equipment to their services. Food and drinks. Needs better variety. Again, due to pandemic, food supply is under pressure in Cuba in general and this resort. Main thing: there’s plenty of food available for each and every guest, so no need to worry! The variety is limited, but decent to provide for all food groups: basic veggies (lettuce, cucumbers, bell peppers, zucchinis. There is fruit: bananas, mangoes, some others. There’s rice and pasta. Some variety of dishes at the a la carte restaurants, but not a big variety. Meet supply, specifically pork, is under pressure, so pork is not often on the menu, but there’s beef, chicken and their very best – white fish! Drinks – need to increase variety. Some are missing due to supply issues, specifically, there’s no tonic, so you get your gin-and-sprite cocktail instead. Some hard alcohol is missing, like cognacs. But there’s plenty of Spanish bubbly and white/red wine, as well as beer to keep everyone happy. So, overall – a very decent resort, worth the money, we plan to go there again. Pleasant personnel, tranquil rest, best beaches. If you are sympathetic to their ongoing efforts to overcome hard times and make things better, then you can put up with some occasional small inconveniences and have a really good time there!
