We traveled the end of January 2015, It was a trip I took with my 19 year old son. The Resort was small but thats what we liked about it. Even though there is only one buffet and one a la carte, they variety of food was good. We did not get sick of eating the same thing everyday. The a la carte is the snack bar during the afternoon and they do make the best beef burrito, I had it 4 times for lunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful, always a smile and a hola. Rooms were very clean, The on[... read more]ly draw back is I was there with my son and the shower/bathroom door is semi frosted glass so privacy was a little hard for us, it would be fine with a spouse though. The location is great, right across the street from the Mega store (similar to Walmart, everything you need there), and to catch the bus to go up to the markets up town was $1.00 for a 5 m-10 min bus ride. We felt very safe in town, and the "hassling" at the market was very minimal. (that was quite the opposite at Cabo San Lucas). I won a massage at the spa and felt like a queen, they certainly went out of their way to make my experience a memorable one. They had activities panned every day, stretching on the beach at 9am was one of my favourites as on a couple of occasions I saw the whale breaching in the ocean. The beach is more like small gravel than sand (but kept quite clean) and there is no swimming as the undertow is bad, but because the pools were so nice we did not miss that at all. I have been to Mexico a few times and I honestly have to say this was one of my favourite trips.

Riu Santa Fe: Fantastic place to stay!
This resort was extremely clean. The rooms were great. Room service made fantastic towel creatures. Dining room staff were quick and professional. Drinks and food were outstanding. The buffet was so good I don't know why anyone would be disappointed if they didn't get into one of the a la cartes. The ocean pools had a great view of lands end. The interior pool was a little quieter, which was perfect for us. It's a 20 minute walk into San Lucas on the beach. We loved it! We would recommend this p[... read more]lace to anyone and come back without hesitation.

Have never been to a Riu resort before, but would consider trying other ones
elsewhere. However at Los cabos the employees are all very nice,,very good
food and plenty of drink.Rooms are well kept, and every area is exceptionally
clean. We rarely visit same resort twice, but would certainly return to this one..

Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Good Value Resort
Stayed at the Riu Palace January 15-22 and had booked through Signature Vacations.
Check-in/out was quick and easy. You get an envelope with a resort map, two towel cards and two room cards. The envelope has a wifi code. We requested a specific room a few weeks in advance by emailing the resort, and were lucky enough to get it- Room #3030.
Room- we booked the Jacuzzi Suite with the two-storey balcony. It was oceanfront and it was beautiful. There was no alarm clock in the room and our room als[... read more]o had no face cloths and when I asked the maid, I was often told they didn't have any. The beer in the mini-fridge was Tecate not Dos Equis. There is no light in the shower and it is very dark. There are no fans in the bathroom either. There room service menu is very limited. Overall, the room amenities need improvements.
Pool/beach- there are two main pools (quiet and loud). During our stay the quiet pool was often invaded by obnoxious wedding parties making their own entertainment. It always seemed busy and you couldn't get a chair after Noon. The actual sitting area on the beach is small. The beach itself is wide but walking in the sand is like walking in a foot of snow. There are many vendors. Swimming is not recommended.
Hotel facilities- lobby is nice. There is a huge lobby/piano bar that overlooks the ocean with beautiful views. Off the bar is a room called the snack bar with liquor, computers and snacks. There are two gift shops in the lobby also and two more by the pools. Below the lobby is the theatre and another bar. The front desk will only exchange Canadian $$ and Mexican $$.
Food- food was good and plentiful but the breakfast and lunch buffet is the same daily. Dinner buffet has themes each night. You need reservations for the Krystal Restaurant (same day only); the Steakhouse and Mexican Restaurants also require reservations. The Japanese does not require reservations. At our Signature Vacations briefing meeting, the customer service staff let us book as many reservations as we wanted and it was a good thing we did because you couldn't get into the steakhouse otherwise. As many have mentioned (and we stayed a Riu before) you have to get up really early to wait in a line. Riu needs to improve this process. Also, at the a la cartes, they only let you order one appetizer and entree each (at other resorts we could order as much as we wanted). Portions are small.
Entertainment- there are many daytime activities at the loud pool. Shows each night--we watched same shows we saw 8 years ago--Riu needs to change things up!
Other Info:
-Bar service can be slow at times
-the wine is poor; they have Canadian Club for Rye; Absolut and other vodka brands. Beefeater for Gin. There are many other good brands of liquor as well (better than at the Sante Fe)
-this resort is big and there are staircases everywhere--bring practical footwear
-this resort was REALLY busy--not the place if you want a relaxed atmosphere
-it is $14USD or 160 pesos one-way to the marina in a taxi
-Taxi prices are posted at the entrance (as the hotel pre-negotiated prices for the year-- this is good if your Canadian because otherwise everything is priced in USD$ and they are converting 14.5 pesos or 15 pesos to 1$USD. Be mindful of this outside of the resort because you could pay more coming back in a taxi
Overall, we would recommend this resort to people who want a nice hotel close to downtown Cabo and for people who like to party.
We wouldn't stay here again because it was way too busy. We would have preferred to stay in San Jose del Cabo but many resorts there are still closed from the hurricane damage. Also, other resorts we've stayed at do not require wristbands, no dinner reservations, towel cards, etc.. These are all minor inconveniences that can be avoided at other high-end resort chains. Cabo was a tourist-trap and party-central and San Jose is picturesque and more laid-back.

Posada Real Los Cabos: A wonderful little resort!
This is our second visit to this great little resort and once again it did not disappoint. The staff is amazing and always friendly and playful. Benito at the pool bar is absolutely amazing and never lets a drink run dry. Jesus is also wonderful and informative. We will look forward to a return visit! All of the staff is wonderful and the rooms well maintained by the maids. Love this little gem!

Riu Santa Fe: Good
The resort was very clean, but there was no waiters around the pool to take your drink borders. There was a lot of flys at the indoor restaurants and at the pools, we covered our food with napkins and our drinks with a napkin as well as a hair elastic. we had a great time... And would definiatly go again!

Riu Santa Fe: Really good overall resort!
This was a beautiful hotel and amazingly clean complex. Food was good. It was easy to book into the a-la-cartes and worth it! The buffet was also a lovely dining experience with linen service, hot food stations and a chocolate fondue. Alcohol was superior and the stocked fridge was a nice touch. Weather was a touch unpredictable and cool but that is january in Mexico! If there was something lacking it was the evening entertainment....started too late and was cheesy. Perhaps something earlier? A [... read more]beach bonfire? A Mexican fiesta? Evenings were a bit flat.

Royal Solaris: Not Good
I am not one to normally write reviews but feel compelled to share my experience at this resort. First of all we stayed there 10 years ago and the hotel was much better run at that time. Let's start with the food. Inedible is the best way to describe dinner at the buffet. No selection and always cold. Its like the steam trays didn't work Couldn't even seem to find a hot cup of coffee. The food at the a la cartes was only slightly better and still not hot. Had a few decent meals at Marco Polo but[... read more] Pablo's was awful. As always a few of the staff stood out but for the most part they seemed disengaged from the guests at the resort. Screaming kids everywhere and could not use the adults pool due to non stop jack hammering and construction noise. I understand about the hurricane but the hotel web site says the construction is complete. Not true. I would say there is at least another year before this hotel will be finished. Lots of issues with the room from missing light switches to no hot water to patio door handles falling off. Overall the hotel was dirty, poorly managed and not acceptable as a 4 star property as advertised. This was our 18th trip to Mexico at all inclusive resorts and this place is in our bottom three. We will not be back

I was very happy with this resort! It felt like a brand new resort! After the hurricane everything has been redone. The food was fantastic. There is a quite pool and a kids/activities pool. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean. If u enjoy swimming in the ocean - then this ia not the place for u. There were many workers working on getter more parts of the resort operational. Los Cabos needs the tourists to come back - tourism is their main resource. Holiday Inn Resort Los Cabos: Awesome Trip, Hotel a work in Progress
It was our first stay in Los Cabos and overall our trip was great but there was some good and some things Holiday Inn need to work on.
2 weeks prior to our trip we received an email stating that the tennis courts would be shut down which was no big deal and when we arrived we found out we were given a free room upgrade to a partial ocean view with balcony which was amazing! Soon we found out though that it was not just the tennis courts that were shut down but 50% of the resort was under repair [... read more]due to the hurricane. I was slightly miffed by this as I felt they were dishonest by not disclosing this prior to our departure as we were expecting a lot more of the facilities to be available. All the staff at the hotel was super friendly and so I brushed it off because they are recovering from the 2nd worst hurricane in the history in Mexico and every single day we saw how hard they worked and the improvements that were made each and everyday to the hotel and grounds.
Just to note at what was available:
2 of 3 pools
4 out of 8 bars
1 Buffet restaurant
1 Beach Snack bar (which turned into a makeshift a la carte restaurant at night, not requiring reservations but was only open some nights we never knew when)
Room Service was free but the rooms didn't have menus which made it difficult to know what was available to order. When I tried to call our phone was broken so I ended up having to go to the front desk to order.
What is closed:
The Spa
The Tennis courts
All of the a la carte restaurants and we didn't figure this out until I tried to make reservations (something that perhaps should have been communicated during check in)
Entertainment was small and took place in the middle of the buffet restaurant on the outdoor patio. It took place some nights and not others but again you never knew until that night.
The Rooms:
The King size bed was incredible comfortable and we both had fantastic sleeps
The whole room was super clean all the time
The shower was roomy but either scalding hot or super cold
We wish there was a fridge in the room for snacks and cold beverages including cold water.
Balcony was big and nice
The Food:
For the most part was decent but sometimes had weird choices. Breakfast was definitely the best, omelettesm bacon, sausage, waffles, french toast, pancakes, hashbrowns, muffins, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, etc.
For 90% of the time the service was fast and efficient but other days the waiters seemed slightly disorganized forgetting your order or having longer than normal wait times.
Honestly I would love to go back in a year's time and really see how this hotel operates at 100% because I think many of their issues are directly related to the hurricane recovery.

I was disappointed because my only prior experience with thr Rui resorts was my stay at the Rui Palace. But the price is cheaper hence it's unrealistic to compare it to the Palace. However I would have preferred more staff in the restaurants and at the bars.

Holiday Inn Resort Los Cabos: It was okay
Rooms were clean grounds were okay despite construction going on, half the resort was closed due to the hurricane, which was unknown to us. There wasn't alot of food choices, 1 buffet and one A La Cart was surprised to see that. Was not impressed with this trip other than the weather.

Riu Santa Fe: Very Poor
We visited Riu Santa Fe on 25/12/2014 and have the worst holiday.
The service at check-in was terrible. The front desk staff is not friendly at all. The pictures on resort website do not show the real resort just block 7 which is the only breach front area. If you don't have a room in block 7 you are treated like a second rate citizen. The entire resort was very very crowded. The food menu at the buffets was the same every single day. The reservations for the restaurants need to be made 4 days i[... read more]n advance. There are 3 bars at the night entertainment area and on an average it took us 20 minutes to order a drink. The beds were terrible. The rooms and the towels had this weird stale smell. We almost had to wait for hours to get a spot at the pool side chairs as they were always occupied. The resort has over 900 rooms and not enough pool area or beach area or chairs.
This resort is supposed to be a 5 star hotel but our experience was that of a cheap motel.
All in all I would recommend to not stay at this hotel.
