Wyndham Alltra Samana: You get what you pay for

The resort was a three star. It was a nice resort but the service was terrible. I would say only about 30% of the staff was pleasant and friendly. On the first couple days we had no hot water in our room. We were told to let the water run for about 15 minutes and it was a hit or miss whether we would get hot water. There was no remote for our tv, no hairdryer, and no coffee maker in our room. The pictures posted on their website don't match the resort. The kids play area shows on the we [... read more]bsite lots for kids to do but when we were there the play area was just a fenced in area with no play equipment. The only shopping boutique on the resort was a "Dominican Walmart". It had everything that you needed but was really small. As for the service, it was faster to get your own coffee than to wait to be served. When we would sit down at a table we would tell them there was 6 of us and they would bring water for four. The only events going on during the day was aerobics by the pool. there was a firs show at the pool one night and we left half way through it was that boring and terrible. They did not walk around and serve you (drinks) at the pool. You always had to go to the bar. Any other resort I have been to they serve you at the pool. The beach was beautiful, views were beautiful and you could even walk down the beach into a small village that did have shops where you could buy items. It was an hour and a half bus ride to the resort. The ride was fast, winding, up and down with frequent stops for bumps in the road. People were nauseated and some even got sick to their stomachs. We did have a great time. There were nine of us that went together and we all had fun. I know I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if it was just me and my husband.

Weare Cadaques Bayahibe: Smaller quieter place

"Do not sweat the small stuff" approach does wonders :) Smaller, quieter place than those next to it (turn right and walk on the beach to see other resorts, that probably will help you appreciate this one more :) Beach is nice, food is great, well maintained grounds, felt safe on the first floor. Free wifi in the lobby. Did not use: pools, bars, room service, entertaining, cleaning (just asked for whatever we needed). Asking the rep will make it easier if you don't want to deal with anything yourself). All personnel are nice if you are nice to them - you know, the usual :)

Riu Merengue: Definitely going back

We had the best time ever..There was always something to eat.The beach was fabulous. The staff was amazing.I loved that we could meander to the bachata resort also.We can't wait to go back.The night shows were amazing the costumes were fantastic.The rooms were immaculate..The balcony was spacious .All in all we had an amazing time.

Excellence Punta Cana: Save the best til last

When you're the last one off the bus from the airport you're on edge wondering.... but from the minute you step foot into the lobby you are greeted with champagne and a cooling towel that is just the beginning....the staff is happy and it shows.. anything you ask for they truly try their best to get it for you. The entertainment staff treat you like family.....Marco is #1... The Oregano was our fab breakfast spot.....other than the buffet.... All the restaurants are superb...no reservations required..... very short wait times well worth the wait This being our first adults-only all inclusive Resort we would definitely recommend the Excellence group of hotels We went at high humidity season I would recommend taking a damprid but they do offer dehumidifiers for the room if it is too damp for you... the resort has been newly renovated and all rooms are very spacious and modern.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Always a great place

Place is well kept grounds look great, nice pool areas, food is good I am meat and potatoes so I was happy but lots of different foods. Beds were good a few little things like sticky taps, paper holder broken never fixed they just keep putting paper without reporting but going back again before end of the year

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: GREAT VACATION

EXCELLENT LAYOUT, KINDA LIKE A TOWN SQUARE WITH ALL THE SHOPS/ POOLS/ RESTAURANTS IN THE CENTER... VERY COOL. COFFEE SHOP WAS AMAZING, VISITED SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. WE HAD AN UNPRECEDENTED AMOUNT OF RAIN ON OUR SECOND DAY AND IT FLOODED OUT OUR ROOM AS WELL AS SOME OTHERS, BUT THE STAFF WORKED TIRELESSLY AND HAD IT CLEANED UP IN NO TIME. BY THE END OF THE DAY YOU'D NEVER KNOW. WE WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: sold resort

The hotel has been sold. The new owners seem to have good ideas and experience. Time will tell when they actually take over. The food was ok (not great). Hotel was quite old but in good repair. The beach was very rocky and had a red flag for the two weeks .Our departure day we had a power failure no lights or a/c. There was no PA system to keep us informed. Manuella had us in a junior suite but the building was the furthest from all facilities and the room was on the second floor. Pretty [... read more] hard getting up with a walker so we exchanged for a standard room closer to our friends and the dining room. We should be entitled to a cash refund for the difference. The sunwing flight had little room between seats. Felt like sardines. Not impressed ! Sunwing rep was not helpful.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great vacations

Everything was ok, the dining options were excellent, the facilities as well. We had a great experience. I recognize the high quality of the service, but also that there were no personal interaction. I felt I was one of hundreds, thousands of visitors, a number. Thats why I will not probably go back. Also the prices during March are too high. The check in for our return flight was very unpleasant, the waiting was too much. We arrived at 11.10 and it was 12.40 and we weren't even passed migra [... read more]tion. Too much stress , the flight was at 1.30 pm, but it was delayed.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Amazing time!

I recently went with my family (husband and two kids age 2 and 4 months) and it was a great trip!! The staff were always so welcoming and so happy to see us and the kids just adored them all! The food was amazing and each night had something different to offer! The buffet has the view of the ocean which could not be beat! The pool was always clean and always had a chair available to lounge on! We had a room booked that was garden view but we got a pool view instead which walked out right to the [... read more] pool which was fantastic since my kids are so young! They had a show every night and both kids and adult games through the days both at the pool and the beach. The bartenders always remember your order and made great drinks! The room was simple and could use some pictures on the walls but for what you pay and for how beautiful you the resort was we didn't really care! They were cleaned every day and the maid service was great for leaving us extra water to make bottles. I'd definitely recommend them and we will definitely return again!

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Jewel of resort

Our 2nd time at this hotel and loved it again. It is a small hotel with beautiful views from everywhere. Clean and everyone friendly. Sometimes communication is a little problem but easily fixed with patience

The Level at Melia Caribe: Amazing resort! Amazing time with the love of my life!

The beaches and pools were second to none! Amazing! The water was not cold, and the staff were always near to serve and help us. We had room service 3 times, was fast and flavourful! The dinners were tasty with my favorite being the Japanese Restaurant! The chef cooks right in front of you. The golf course across the street was great and hotel offered discounts and free shuttle! The hotel offered fruit sticks and mini snacks around the pool area which was nice! There is live music in the main lobby every night, people were dancing! The lobby bar was our favourite! The Level at Melia Caribe: Amazing Trip with my boyfriend!!!

We had an amazing time. Pool water wasn't too cold. SERVICE was amazing. Always someone asking if we are okay. Great servers around the pool! The Japanese Restaurant was great! Very flavourful! The beach and beach water was perfect and clear. The Lobby bar had live musician every night! We had room service 3 nights there, was fast and tasteful! Lots of options! We went golfing at the COCOTAL golf course across the street! Was amazing, free shuttle took us. Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Amazing Resort & Beautiful Beach

Very nice luxurious hotel with amazing views all around. Very nice clean pools all over the resorts, well maintained. The ocean is amazing, beach & sand. Rooms are nice minus the comfort of the bed, unless you like stiffer harder beds. Food is really enjoyable, way better than Cuba but a bit behind Mexico. Everyone was friendly and willing to assist in anyway needed. I would definitely recommend this resort if you have never been before. You are welcome in advance.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Beautiful resort!

Great hotel, fabulous food, the grounds were well kept. For the most part staff was very good to excellent with the exception of the main desk which at times was difficult to communicate with due to language barrier.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Dreams Palm Beach

Great resort, friendly staff all over,only have two complaints....no makeup mirror in our room, if you don't take enough one dollar bills to tip, you are out of luck getting them there. My daughter and I had a wonderful trip.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Beautiful Weather

We visited this resort on the recommendation of someone we know. We were not disappointed. Food in the buffet was good, a la cartes were excellent. The resort was clean and the grounds well maintained. The beach was small and sometimes seemed overrun by locals who were very loud. Some of the tourists at the resort did not appreciate their presence. Staff at the front desk were very helpful and accommodating. Caribe Deluxe Princess: We will be back!

This is our second time in as many years at this resort. We returned to many reasons. The grounds are beautiful, the food is good with lots of variety. The beach is absolutely gorgeous and you can walk forever. Rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They are a big reason we came back. One of our favorite things about this resort is how close everything is. The rooms, restaurants, pools and the beach and all very close to each other. Very convenient. Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Acceptable resort - not a real 4*

First impression is nice. The resort is small and easy to walk around. The grounds are well kept. The rooms are small but modern and clean. Mosquito nets are not available in all rooms. The food is good but there are less choices than other resorts are offering. The swimming pool is beautiful but it could use more sun umbrellas. Safety is compromised when raining, as the pavement becomes very slippery when wet. Sloped beach with strong waves. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It would be nice and fair to provide some warning for the tourists when they arrive so that the ones who are sensitive can protect themselves better.

Bahia Principe Grand Samana Roulette: Nice place to stay

Hotel is good,staff is very nice,food is ok,beach is very crowded,local people asking for food and money in the water,this is not good.Ee wish that shows start early ,everyone on the beach were talking about it,overall this is a nice place,for older people.We are enjoyed our one week vacation 🏖

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: A Great Time!

Met family from Nova Scotia at the Esmeralda. The resort had no problem giving us adjoining rooms which was perfect. Landscaping beautiful, beach was heavenly and the pools were great! The food was very good and the coffee was hot! Their Irish coffee’s were second to none!
