Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Relaxing Holiday w/ amazing food/drinks

We just returned from the Barceló Maya Beach. Travelled with 4 adults and a 9 month old. The hotel recently went though major renovations as everything looked new. BOOKED: Krysti Coronios helped us. She was absolutely amazing and went above AND beyond my expectations. Will be calling her again and recommend her service. (Thank you again!!) BEACH: Gorgeous beach. The area is experiencing a MAJOR SEA WEED issue. We were assured the staff cleans this regularly. NOT the case. As the fresh stuff comes in you can see the other older piles that have shriveled up and clearly were lying around for days. Once you get past the first couple of meters the ocean is super clean and nice. So it’s a small inconvenience BUT not a huge problem. Bring water shoes. ROOM: We stuck with a standard room and I am glad we did as there are no ocean views here; just pool views with a sliver of an ocean from a distance. Unless you are planning on spending a lot of time in your room, save you money. The water pressure is amazing, bath tubs are standard with two shower heads and the plumbing works perfectly. The king size bed, in an actual king size (not 2 beds put together). Room equipped with a flat screen TV and a mini fridge with various coke products, nuts and beer (replenished daily. DAY ENTERTAINMENT: Surf riding lessons are available for $15-20 US per hour. Super fun. Your muscles will be hurting the next day. Husband wiped out bad and got whip lash. Be careful but try it. Kayaks, paddle boarding, catamarans are free just need to get a time slot (open until 4:30pm). They have a dolphin pool. Same prices as everywhere else to swim with the dolphins, but you don’t lose a day commuting as the pool is within the Barcelo complex. NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT: There are 2 theaters super close to each other. If you don't like what one has, just walk over to the other. There are 2 clubs. Jaguar and One. Both are huge and had very little people dancing in there, but were super nice. FOOD: Seriously amazing. If you are a huge sea food person, they have a sea food night with full size lobsters and lobster tails - all you can eat. Went to the Mayan many times, never seen this at the buffet. Needless to say, don't book a la carte on sea food night! Tokyo A La Carte = amazing. La Fuente A La Carte = great. Mecico Lindo A La Carte =to die for Steak House A La Carte =ok. For an additional $20 US/person you can use the restaurants at the Palace. Make a reservation at the Brasserie (French restaurant). Won't regret it!! Breakfast and Lunch Buffet were the same every day. Huge selection, but food was just ok. MALL: Yup, they have a huge mall with free wi-fii from 10am-noon. Lots of shops from bikinis, to bath bombs, trinkets and everything else you can think of. They have the same trinkets at the airport, but for ½ the price so purchase here. Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Incredible!

The grounds were stunning and so well kept...the people - The nicest I've ever had on a vacation ever! The food was a nice variety and sea life incredible - I've never snorkeled like this before in my life. Absolutely stunning!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Awesome resort!!

The ride to the hotel only 30 mins! The hotel is very clean, excellent entertainment, everyone so nice and helpful. Kids loved the Kids Club , they had video games, arts and crafts, games, Max and Ruby, pool games, etc. Ricardo and Roberto at the Kid's pool were awesome!! The food is AMAZING!! The only thing that was disappointing was the beach- SEAWEED everywhere, cannot go in the water at all. Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Best Resort Ever

Wonderful staff! Beautiful beaches, bars, and pools. This resort has all the facilities you will need. Food was pretty good too. Smoking areas are really nice if you are a smoker. I can't really complain about anything except for the doctor at their hospital! She was not very helpful. Also, if you want to buy gifts, the gift shop at the hotel is much cheaper than the street sellers.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites: Perfect getaway

Everything about the Iberostar Paraiso Maya is fantastic. Great, large and fresh clean rooms, incredible food, amazing beaches and stunning pools, but the best is the attentive and dedicated staff. Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great trip

Our family vacation to Riviera Maya was a good trip overall. Stayed at Barcelo Maya Beach- fantastic staff from reception to everyone we encountered! Everyone tried their best, thank you all! Facility: room - building uxmal room 3314 very average, bathroom needs an upgrade sheets always had some type of stain. Barcy club- no activities really for children from 7-12, no teen activities. If planning to try surfing there be aware of the great water pressure- it will throw you up against the padded walls, and it will hurt! Restaurants: tried Mexican - not thoroughly impressed we went to Xel Ha natural water park and had the most impressive Mexican food there! This is a fantastic excursion, I booked it directly with the park! Spanish was great - especially with the Spanish coffee demonstration for us! French- fantastic Italian- not impressed at all Japanese- very entertaining and good food The grounds are very well kept, resort collection is huge, and makes for a good walk to burn all the calories! however there is no sense of connection to the place or people. Food: much variety, good quality however we were not impressed with the deserts! Beach: even though the beach front of the Beach Resort is the best, at the time of our visit the beach was unsettled with lots of seaweed and a mushy and smelly ocean front (for a few 1-2 meters in) once in it was clear and more pleasant. Other: Coupons: We did not see the value in them at all! Mosquitos: a real problem so make sure to have mosquito repellants with you. Mall - over rated and expensive, the Mexican mall further down is much more authentic and offers better deals. overall at the time of our visit we felt this resort had a great potential of being a 5star but felt it was 3.5 at best due to room accommodations and lack of entertainment.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great vacation and great resort!

The hotel is awesome! Great food and service! I totally enjoyed my stay and would like to return one day. The beach was a bit small and shore was full of sea weeds, but pools were fantastic, so no complains.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Sensatori Azul Great time.Great staff.Great food.

Just returned after a fantastic one week stay. The resort is just the right size, keeping everything an easy walk to where ever you want to go. Food at Sienna, Le Chique, and Tapas were our hands down favourites. The resort is well maintained, with staff always working on touch ups, the fantastic gardens, or even tidying up after those guests that leave their mess everywhere. We were at this resort just over five years ago, and it really hasn't aged. This was our third time at a Karisma resort,  [... read more]and I must say the staff at the Sensatori Azul are even more attentive then previously. Need something? They are there to help. Special praise to Filemon who supplied us with drinks and snacks all day long, Lorena and Malaka who are two very special entertainment team members, Miguel at the front door, and Heidi who not only checked in all six of us (three couples), but took the time to walk us around the grounds and pointed out the key areas. More incredible, Heidi recognized members from our party by surname a few days into our stay. There is one issue, so a word of caution, and please don't let this sway your decision in choosing the Sensatori. Especially as the issue can be easily dealt with, just by saying no. The issue? Premier or prestige membership selling, as it really is timeshare. The selling process may start with your concierge. Of course, if you want to spend 90 minutes of your time providing what I consider private/personal information and listening to a smooth sales pitch, well then, what you decide to do is your choice. If you are wondering, we said no thanks, though not until after a smooth initial pitch. If you can, ask for an upper floor room, or the adult section, though that may cost more to be in the adult part. Overall, we all had a great time, enjoyed our favourite drinks, and never left the table hungry!

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Gains and losses

There is less emphasis on local culture and ecology now that the renovations have completed. The resort has the same feeling as your average Club Med (emphasis on fun, consumerism). I miss the old resort.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Good resort

Nice resort with a good variety of food, nice a la carte restaurants and great service. However I wouldn't give this place a five star because the nightly entertainment was the worst of any resort I've ever been too. The main location of the theatre is brutal and even if you're are lucky enough to get a decent seat you still can barely see the show. But overall a good experience... well minus all the mosquitos that is.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Second Time Around

Second time at this resort. Great location and amenities but a bit disappointed at the buffet food this time around. Relaxed and fun time for the whole family! We are already planing for the next trip, will try the Lindo in the beginning of next year.

Allegro Playacar: Very nice

Very good 3 star, clean and good food. The service was excellent , in the heat of the day still with a smile while caring for many guests. Well done. 30 minute walk to shopping and entertainment, wait for a cloudy day otherwise you will be uncomfortable in the heat.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: great experience

The service was excellent at all the restaurants . Our personal concierge was exceptional. the room was perfect. overall I would say perfect vacation. If thewre was one thing we didn't like about the rsort was the beach. It was way to small and cramped. Water was not clean.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Very good resort, will be returning.

Food was fantastic, there were lots of options at the buffet. They even had a healthy option at the buffet. Restaurants were very good, no complaints. The Don Pablo was my favourite. Service was amazing. All the workers really worked hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible. If you have any problems i recommend talking to the guest service manager Priscila Nieto. When I got sick with allergies she went above and beyond making sure I was okay. She is always smiling and you can tell she  [... read more]loves her job. Entertainment was really good. The magics show there was amazing! Also, if you're a young couple I recommend this resort over the Sian K'ann. My boyfriend and I met two young couples who stayed at the adults only resort and they said that the resort mainly caters to an older crowd, and they were not able to make any noise. It is a very quiet resort, and they would get complaints if they were too loud. Overall, I definitely recommend the Bahia Principe Akumal, and will be returning soon.

It is a very nice resort . We stayed in building 66 It was next to everything pool, beach, restaurants The service is very good .The food is amazing .They have a lot of activities for kids and adults .It is one of the best resorts we have been in Mexico

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: amazing resort!

This resort was absolutley beautiful! It was about an hour drive from the Cancer airport, but we'll worth it! From the minute we checked in the staff was so nice, always asking if we needed anything. The resort I'd absolutley stunning, the staff is constantly cleaning the place, there is never apiece of trash on the ground or a piece of grass uncut! They do such an amazing job at keeping the resort clean. Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Very nice but too Big!

We just got back on August 31, the resort is beautiful and HUGE! The food is amazing, all a la carts were a pleasure! The resort is lacking enough pool chairs and the whole week we did not get any, big disappointment. The beach you have to travel too from the Coba, so I would recommend staying at Tulum. Staff were very friendly but at times poor English speaking creating some difficulty. We had one day where rooms service was not answering for about 3 hours and the front desk was no help. We wen [... read more]t to the Mexican festival and unfortunately we had to pay 16 us dollars each even though it was on the resort. I wish I had brought bug spray as you would be eaten alive at dusk, they tried fogging the area to reduce this but with little affect! The drinks were good but our group noticed the bar areas smelt almost like vomit, no matter which one you went to, they need to bleach them down. Overall it was good, I had great company so any issues was easily forgotten. We had to see the doctor once and Victor was so funny that paying the bill didn't seem so bad. The A/C worked so awesome in the room it was nice to retreat to get away from the heat.

Grand Riviera Princess: Utopia

My daughter and I, had the opportunity to stay at the resort for five nights. Our only regret was, that we had not booked the trip for the full week. The minute we entered into the resort, we were greeted by, courteous staff, we felt extremely comfortable at the resort our entire stay. The rooms were clean, modern and well located. The food, was amazing. Never, Have we had so many pools to pick from. We definitely would recommend this vacation resort.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: great for kids

this is the third time we have been at this resort, my husband,my daughter and her two boys ages 8/11 and myself love the bars at night the food is good the grounds and resort very clean the lazy river,ice cream parlor,coffee shop, and staff are all great and why we keep going back
