Punta Peninsula Varadero: Pleasant stay

Found the food very good, selection and taste. Supplies such as sheets and towels in short supply. Staff friendly and helpful. Grounds were well kept. Beach lovely and no problem getting a chair. Sand fleas a problem.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: First time to Cuba

Ok Vacation . Not used to large resorts. May of been the reason I was not totally impressed. Food was ok . I rather have a more flavourful menu. Beach was very nice . They need to up their game with service ex: lack of clean Towels in Room and pool. I don't mind using the same towel a few time ... but they need to leave it hanging where we put it so we know which is ours . Didn't enjoy using a towel not knowing if it was my roomates used towel....

Melia Las Antillas: Great trip

We had a great trip. First of all the service was outstanding .the friendliest people ever. We were skeptic on the food in Cuba. But we were pleasantly surprised . The food was really good. The ala cartes were delicious. we upgraded our room and was happy we did. The hotel needs some updating but very clean. The night shows could use some variety.but There was a band that played in the lounge that was absolutely amazing.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Very nice, clean resort!

Everything was clean, resort is small so getting around is no problem, all rooms are close to everything. Al a carte restaurants were great. Food was the only downfall, but you did not starve. The staff was good. The beach was the best, clear water and white sand.

Hotel Bella Costa: Awesome trip!

I had a really great time at breezes bella Costa. The rooms were not that luxurious, but it was clean and still decent. The resort isnt too big, so you dont have to walk long to get from your room to restaurants or pool/beach area. The beach was beautiful, i liked the papayas which gave you shade. For the a la carte restaurants i really liked the italian and japonese ones, the cuban one i didnt like, and the buffet was pretty good. we always found something good to eat. I also liked the entertainment, they had a show every night and even had an early one for the kids. The staff were very friendly. It was my first time in cuba and i very much enjoyed my time there. I do plan to return to cuba someday:)

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Definitely overrated!

This hotel is advertised as 4 1/2* but this only if you pay for "Prestige" service, otherwise if you booked regular service you would run out of hot water for showers in the late afternoon, bath towels were changed every 2-3 days as was the bedding. The refrigerator was completely empty for the first two days. Despite being a small resort it is very spread out and the beach was at least a 5 minute walk as was the walk to the dining room. Drinks at the Lobby bar and Mike's Coffee shop were excellent however drinks at the beach bar, swim-up bar, pool bar, tasted very similar to weak flavored kool-aid with rum and a couple of ice cubes. For a resort supposedly two years old it is already looking worn and shabby.

Starfish Varadero: Horrible stay :(

No hot water, barely any selection of food, room was full of bugs, resort was mainly filled with Cubans, staff would only speak english if you tipped or gave them something.. We went not expecting much and thats definitely what we got, less than our moneys worth to go for sure. My boyfriend and I aren't picky and it's a good thing cause most other people would have packed up and found another resort to go to. If for some crazy reason you choose this resort, only get a bungalow or suite.

Resonance Blu Varadero: great resort, best beach we have been on

the resort was not too large, so it was easy to walk to beach and main building, grounds keepers were working all day , staff very helpful and friendly, the two pools were great although we spent most of our time at the "quiet" pool.

Starfish Jibacoa: Disappointed

I knew the resort was small, not many amenities, but had what seemed enough. Finally I booked this place for end of April. When we arrived it was a bit of a shock....something was not like other small resorts. Our room was not ready, no big deal. Smallest buffet we have ever seen. Ok, small place. My husband has never complained about Cuba's food like most travellers. He would try most things and enjoyed it all. This time no, not a good sign. Again cannot really judge at this point....the buffet was closing. Our room was nice, large bathroom, great air conditioning (thankful for that since we were there during an unusual heat wave HOT). Great maid service, lots of hot water, decent beds, pillows not so great. The bungalows are very nice. The vegetation in this area is absolutely beautiful, the nicest we have seen in Cuba. The pool close by was ok, nice chairs, but the pool did not seem to be very clean at least to what we were used to at other Cuban resorts, also a big disappointment for me. The beach was close.....and known here for snorkelers which were many. It just seemed though because of the heat wave, waters were not always refreshing. But no one can control the weather. (It did rain at the end of our stay which was a Godsend...relief). Drinks and bars were sufficient and tasted great...never a line up and friendly staff. Guests at this resort were also very friendly. This is so because no doubt they love this place and call it home. They know how to make the most of it here at Jibacoa. We did not. Now our son was with us and he had a great time with everyone. So as the saying goes.... you make the holiday. Back to the buffet...breakfast was decent...not much but ok...no juices of any kind...this bothered our son greatly(hangover lol). Lunch and dinner buffet was hit and miss. Not the best. We ended up eating at the Cuban al a carte....most nights (also nice we were able to).... good....nice soups, shish kebab was nice....again very warm inside making it uncomfortable. Nice servers with constant smiles. Majority of staff really appreciated their guests. Pool offered food till 5 pm...again...hamburgers/hot dogs/sandwiches (Cuban). I never ate any... some say not the best. They did make nice chips not fries...delicious. Drinks were always good. Nice BBQ once....but very hot sitting there. I personally think the heat wave took its toll on us. And being at a spot that did not offer air conditioned public areas hard to enjoy. April is supposed to be the nicest time of year for weather....but our luck wrong week. The resort let us stay in our room till our time to leave in the afternoon at no charge, a nice perk. No big entertainment but also not a big deal for us .....what they had was fun in any case. We all ended up with stomach problems which in itself is a turnoff. Would we return, probably not but that is just us....sometime timing is everything. We met many that love this place, returning guests everywhere....they see the diamond in the ruff.....we did not. We tried but ..... SO.....bad food, good drinks, nice rooms, most staff nice, guests fun, bad pool, ok beach, amenities few. It may just have been wrong timing for us. A bit disappointed.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Family vacation

We went to Varadero with two our children. They have amazing sand beach which is great for children. Quality of food was average. Room service was excellent! Kids club needs lots of improvement. Rooms are big but not renovated. We were at the ocean view room and it was nice and quiet.

Palma Real: Amazing resort

Bellevue Palma Real is very clean, food was good, staff was very friendly. Pools were clean ocean is beautiful . Would definitely go back to this resort. Walking distance to the markets and the local bars ex. Beatles Bar , Callie 62 Spanish bar

Brisas Del Caribe: Good for price

Overall was a good resort. It was maintained good. Pools were clean. Beach was perfect. Food never went hungry. Rooms definitely need to be done over. Had to switch rooms. The first room power went out and shower didn't work.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Nice place, beautiful water

The place was clean, had great food, lots of activities. The music was amazing in the piano bar! Bartenders were fun. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that you couldn't have a fresh beach towel.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Beautiful hotel, however not much to do

This was a beautiful place to stay! Most of the staff were very nice and the rooms were always clean! There was not much entertainment during the day or at night so we often ended up going in to Varadero. The food was not very good at the buffets but the al la carte restaurants were good! Overall, it was nice for a beach getaway but I wouldn't recommend it for a full week. There just was not a whole lot to do.

Hotel Bella Costa: Great Family Resort

This resort was very clean, lots of activities in the day and great shows at night. The food was quite tasty, especially the pizza. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great resort for families.

Hotel Acuazul: Resort was ok.

Staff was friendly, facilities needed some maintenance. Overall experience was good, we got what we paid for. Don't leave stuff unattended on the beach. Great trip. Only one restaurant and it was buffet.

Brisas Del Caribe: Beautiful resort

The grounds were beautiful , always well kept ! The food was great , the workers were always friendly and helpful. The beach was beautiful and tonnes of fun activities for the whole family to do on resort!

Blau Varadero: Amazing resort

I have been to the Blau 6 times it is great the food is amazing the hotel is so clean and very well maintained and the staff and management are always helpful it just feels like home!!! We are returning in September

Palma Real: Good and bad Palma Real

Good points: - cheap $769 7-days all inclusive package - room is clean and cleaned everyday - entertainment night shows are excellent - location very close to varadero city and so to restaurants and entertainment - beach is beautiful and 3 min walk from the hotel - juice is good - Piazza restaurant is excellent Bad points: - 95% of the staff is rude - Buffet is bad - even if you pay a 6 pesos internet card you can not connect by wifi you have to use the hotel's machines - people in Cuba always l [... read more]et you know that they are waiting for your tips whether they did a good job or not and so is the staff of the hotel

Hotel Los Cactus: Breezes

I have heard bad things about Cuba-bad weather, bad food, dirty resorts but not Breezes. Very clean, friendly staff (Orestes was great), quite good food and plentiful, HUGE room (707), great pool and of course the famous white sandy beach! Coffee was best at the bar. Rum plentiful and bar staff very fast. Would go again!
