Sunscape Dominican Beach: Nice but not what I was expecting

The grounds were nice. Activities should last longer (10 minute bingo games could be longer, karaoke night should last longer). Cockraoches in some of the rooms, turned me right off, therefore I will never go back to this resort. Food at the ala carte restaurants was fantastic!

Grand Bavaro Princess: Awesome resort!

We love this resort, second time here and will not be our last. Rooms, meals, grounds, pool, beach, everything super. We had Room 893, close to lobby and quiet pool, also close to beach shuttle stop. Cannot wait to come back next year! Loved the crepes by Osirious!

Occidental Caribe: Barcelo punta cana

This place was really nice, the beach was awesome and the food was excellent. This my second time at this resort love it .Wish they had a bit more entertainment at night.The buffet was great and a la carte was excellen.

The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana: A great resort!

This was our forst time to Punta Cana and the only disappointment was not booking a longer stay! We stayed at the Reserve Paradisus. A great place for families, but there were also many couples without kids. The pool was huge and always extremely clean. Poolside beverage service was also great. We stayed in a one bedroom family suite and opted for the family concierge option. This came in handy as our concierge (Sandra) was great and booked all our dinners and our poolside cabana every day for u [... read more]s. There is also an amazing kids club with activities if you have children. The food choices were great (including the buffets) and the a la carte restaurants were delicious with tons of choices. If you are staying on the Reserve portion of the resort, you have access to all restaurants and pools throughout the whole resort, although those not staying in the Reserve section don't have access to all amenities in the Reserve section. We will be returning again next year. Highly recommened.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Surpassed Expectations!

My husband and I had a great time staying in this resort. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was amazing (both buffet and a la carte). We loved the beach and will definitely stay here again on our next trip to D.R. I would recommend Royal Golden package as the rooms are closest to the beach!

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful Getaway

Food was fabulous and the Al a Carte options made eating a pleasure. We stayed need the beach and pool which was just right for our family. The walk to the main lobby was a bit long if you missed the train so suggest to leave early if you have an appointment at the lobby or restaurants. Room service was not consistent and two days ended up needing to search out staff to obtain towels for our use in the room.

Riu Bambu: RIU Bambu - Don't go There!

Requested 2nd floor w/2dble or queen beds - got !!! 2 TWINS & a BABYS' CRIB!!! Guess where 1 had to sleep-in a chair! Argued for 1 1/2 days to change us to what was requested, finally got a room with a couch! Registration people very unfriendly to rude. Sunwing Rep totally unco-operative & not willing to help. Room bar not regularly refilled. Not relaxing vacation at all!

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Time of our life!

The service, cleanliness of rooms & restaurants, and food was excellent! Always someone cleaning the grounds as well. The servers and bartenders were amazing. Although the beach was not like other resorts we've been too, it was not a deterrent for swimming in the ocean. The people were always working at cleaning the beach. Very quiet resort. Barcelo Bavaro Beach: 9 times to Punta Cana, this is one my favs!

I stayed at the adults only, which is the best to stay at. You can use the facilities at the other side but come back to the tranquil side of the adults. My group nicknames the other side "Vegas", so big, so modern, very un-caribbean feeling. All the ala cartes were very good and something for everyone at the buffets. The water was gorgeous and blue like all of Bavaro Beach but more calm as you are in the cove. Rooms were well appointed and very clean. Never had to fight or save chairs at pool o [... read more]r beach no matter what time you got there, this is a A++ feature in my mind! If they could improve on one thing it would be the service. Either excellent or less than desirable. Don't think about it, just book it!!

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Beautiful

The beach is beautiful, you could walk for miles in the white sand and there was lots of activity on the water. The resort was clean, there were a lot of options for meals and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Very nice resort

Very well kept nice grounds and excellent place to stay. Great food friendly people very well kept beach and pool. Restaurants very good food.would recommend this resort to anybody that wants to have a relaxing vacation.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Deteriorated resort - needs upgrading

We traveled to this resort 10 years ago and were very impressed with it that we chose to come back. I don't think any work has been done in the time since we had been there. Rooms were in much need of work - we even changed rooms as we were not pleased with our first and while the second was cleaner the air conditioning vent dripped steady leaving a huge water puddle on the floor in the entrance to our room. Vent in bathroom dripped on you every time you sat on the toilet, half of the shower doo [... read more]r was missing - NO hot water our whole 10 day trip and we tried to shower at different times of the day - 6, 7, 8 am, 3, 5, 8 pm! It's hard to shave over goosebumps :-) The grounds were clean and well kept with the exception to the pathways needing to be redone - patching only goes so far! The pool closest to our room had green algae along the edge. Food - only one buffet for two resorts - we found many times the staff couldn't keep up with keeping the chafing dishes full so you would have to go back several times to if you wanted something specific - especially fruit. We found the nicest fruit and best place for lunch to be the beach snack bar. We did enjoy the Mexican restaurant. Evening entertainment was horrible - one of the evenings it was exactly the same show we saw 10 years ago. Very amateurish. (and i'm sure the wicker chairs were the same as from 10 years ago too) The beach was great, the bars were good and the staff friendly, but we would not go back to the Caribe Club Princess - especially when we know we can stay in a much nicer resort for the same $$$

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Awesome trip

Amazing resort, very clean, very huge, beautiful beach and pools, lots to do Food above average for Dominican. If you have kids then this is the resort for you. Three water parks for different ages, mini put, laser tag, water sports, pool tables etc...

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: An amazing vacation!

The resort and staff were excellent, they made our vacation a dream come true.The food selection, drinks and service were topnotch, an example to other resorts to follow. I'll only travel to this chain of resorts in the future. Our special thanks go out too Hector, Menfis and Jose (beach bar). These staff members ensured we had the ultimate vacation!

Riu Bambu: Fabulous

Riu Bambu Hotel was beautifully maintained xnd very clean. The best part was the food!! The people were friendly and almost all spoke English enough to help you should you require aid. The only drawback for us were our Sunwing representatives who sold us two very similar outings and when questioned after the first one denied they were similar?? This was not the hotel's fault and I have emailed Sunwing

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Big and Beautiful

I do not think my husband and I have ever stayed at a cleaner, better cared for property...which is amazing given its size. Luckily we were at the Ambar 2. Dinners were a let down though and could be improved.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: First Trip to Caribe Club Princess Resort

We had a great time at Caribe Club Princess Resort. The staff are extremely friendly, food is very good, room was great, beach is beautiful, lots of restaurants, nice pools. We would definitely return.

Occidental Caribe: Nice resort

I thought the hotel was beautiful and clean! But customer service was a bit lacking. We actually called for something we needed in our room and it took 3 days and never got it anyway:( You would never be able to have a bath in this resort. People were friendly for the most time and really appreciated their tip

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Changes for the worst

This is our third trip to Catalonia Bavaro and frankly, we were disappointed. Asked to pay extra for "Privileged Status" or lose out on nicer beach, restaurant seating, etc., noticeable decrease in staff friendliness, decline in food quality, we won't be going back.

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Best Family Vacation Yet!

My family of 5 travelled to The Royalton Punta Cana from Feb 21st-28th. We travelled with Sunwing airlines which was just okay. We had some delays in leaving related to weather conditions and de-icing. On the way home, we decide to stay at the resort longer and cab to the airport instead of taking the provided transportation. Unfortunately, our flight home was delayed 1.5hrs and we were not updated on this until we had been waiting at the airport for a while. Despite this minor setback, we had a [... read more] FABULOS family vacation. We chose to purchase the DIAMOND CLUB package, which proved to be the only major disappointment of the trip. We were told we would be treated to premium booze but every time we would ask they either didn’t have it or were out. In addition, we are not really ocean people and did not spend much time on the beach; however, this resort has an exception beach (beautiful sands and clean clear ocean water). The beach service appeared to be the only real benefit of the package. We travelled with another family who did not purchase the DIAMOND CLUB package and they received equal service as we did. They were able to get into each restaurant without needing reservations and had access to all of the amenities we did minus the Diamond Club lounge (which provided nothing but mini appetizers aka mini cupcakes or a piece of shrimp in a cup). They also did not have a butler, but that also proved to be a disappointment as our butler was very hard to track down and provided very slow service—he often forgot things. If we were to go back, we definitely would not make this purchase again. On a positive note, the resort was beautiful and we could not have asked for better weather. We were located in a central building (6) and found the rooms were beautiful and updated. There was a slight lack in storage space but other than that they were more than accommodating. The concierge in our building was exceptional, his name was Francis and he went above and beyond to help us and make sure we were always satisfied. Francis definitely helped make the trip enjoyable and relaxing. We spent most of our time around the main pools. They were always warm which was nice. They appeared to be a central attraction during the days. Because of this and due to a lack of seating it was very difficult to get a spot around the pool. One day we got up at 7:00am to reserve chairs (as suggested) and even at this time it was difficult to find any. A big issue causing this is that people from the Memories resort come over to use Royalton’s pools and amenities even though they are not supposed to. There was no enforcement against this obvious issue which left many disgruntled. We also found this resort to be highly populated with young families with kids. This was not bothersome as we have a 9 year old but for our 21 and 19 year old may not have been as well suited. During the day there were several activates held during the days by the entertainment crew including yoga, Zumba, dance lessons and games. We have never participated in these activities on previous trips but thanks to Nemo, Francel and Cappacino was encourage to do so. The entertainment crew was energetic, enthusiastic and fun and kept our days busy. We were able to interact with them every day and they were friendly and always making us laugh. The Memories waterpark (which you have access to if you stay at Royalton) also helped keep us busy an entertained. The slides were thrilling and fun for all ages! In terms of the food, we were very satisfied. We were skeptical due to things we have heard in the past about the food in Dominican. Of the 5 members in my family and the 5 in the family we went with no one got sick during our trip. Our favourite 3 restaurants that we strongly recommend to anyone going to The Royalton would be 1. The Hunter Steak house 2. Zen 3. Grazie Tattoria. The buffet was also good, typical buffet for an all-inclusive vacation. Opa also offered a fantastic lunch for seafood lovers. The restaurant and bar staff were hit and miss—for the most part they were good. The bars often got congested and sometimes service and attention were difficult to receive. There was also a language barrier for us which caused some confusion and difficulty in ordering sometimes. The post dinner entertainment was fantastic! We have travelled to many places in the Caribbean and find that the entertainment can get repetitive and sometimes can be boring. This resort had some of the most captivating and memorable entertainment. They presented a range in entertainment including shows, live music, acrobatics and beach parties! Overall, this was one of the best vacations my family has been on. We would definitely choose to go back to this resort if the opportunity presents itself in the future. If you are contemplating visiting this resort, we recommend you visit and see all it has to offer!
