21st visit back here! Had a wonderful 2 week stay! The staff here are so happy, gracious and kind! They go out of their way to make a person feel at home!! Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Ok resort

Under staffed. Food was never warm when it was supposed to be. Drinks were warm. Staff were not trained and did not speak or understand english. Food was not covered or protected from flies or birds who ate from the buffet at the 24 hour bar

Muthu Playa Varadero: We loved it!

We were pleased with the hotel. The service was great, front desk was helpful and accomodating especially Llanette. I would rate this as 4 *for building as our first room the lock on main floor was broken but within a short time we were given a key to check out another room and were moved in. Llanette was great and wanted to make sure we were happy with it. The bathroom was quiet new and view from 4th floor was nice. There is lots of Cuban music everyday at lunch by the beach bar and the main dining room sometime at night. Lots of fun in the lobby with entertainment and live music, then games till 10 pm. Every night after that is "SHOW TIME" for less than an hour. The location is great as you can ride the double decker bus to town (10 mins) and back all day for just $5.00 each. The markets are a great place to shop. Save your $$ by staying away from Plaza America, very expensive! The beach is gorgeous, crystal clear water, temp was amazing 33degrees most of the week. If you are looking for a place to complain about move on. Your not needed here, after all no place on earth is perfect. We had the best time ever and can't wait to return!

Palma Real: Perfect Hotel for Your Dollar$

Husband & I spent 2 weeks celebrating our 44th Wedding Anniversary at the Bellevue Palma Real. It's a perfectly located Hotel, walking distance to downtown shopping, variety of restaurants, live entertainment, & beautiful beach. Great pools and don't miss the Aqua Show which takes place at the pool. We had a large room with balcony overlooking the pool, cleaned very well everyday & comfortable king size bed. All Staff were most friendly & the Buffet Staff would go out of there way to accommodate [... read more] a request. There was always a good variety of food at the buffet. But to spice things up we always take some of our favorite condiments from home (ketchup,spices,peanut butter). On the downside the "Lobby Bar" needs a face lift; needs newer & more tables & chairs. Lobby Bar also requires more Staffing as they are overwhelm with line ups for Alcohol & Coffee Bar. We love the beach but could not stay long b/c it is in desperate need of more umbrellas for shade. We have vacationed in Cuba multiple times and would recommend this Hotel if you are looking for a Fun 31/2 Star Vacation.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Nice Resort

Everything was fine but should fix the very strong sewer smell at the beach bar. Beach is beautiful and employees were very helpful and very friendly!! Was in the 200 section and was close to everything. This was an older section but the room was very clean and ac worked great. Had fun using the old hair dryer which was a hose from the wall. Took a little longer to dry my hair but did the job just fine.

Starfish Varadero: Good value for the price we paid!

The resort was older and could use a lot of up grading! A lot of the resort was not even being used which was very sad! The food was on par with other resorts in Cuba other then the fact that there was no variety. We had the exact same menu for the duration of our stay. The staff at the resort were awesome!! That being said we would have no problem returning to this resort for the right price!

Sol Varadero Beach: Great value

Pleasantly surprised. Great value. Good service, rooms and location. Friendly staff, okay food, awesome beach. Wonderful bbq lunch with entertainment. Same sun, water and beach for others who pay more. No surprises. Embraced the difference and had a goodl time.

Memories Jibacoa: Location between Havana and Veradero, big rooms,

small resort, big rooms, nice resort, clean, entertainment is pretty good, I have stayed at the resort 8 times from the year it was build, overall the food was better in my first visits than it is now.

Memories Jibacoa: Friendly resort but needs upgrading

We stayed at Memories Jibacoa on April 4-April 11. Once we arrived, we noticed how beautiful the location is, it's literally in the mountains which you see from the pool each day. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. The rooms are kept very clean, and the gardens and grounds are well maintained and beautiful. The resort appears to be a tired 3-star, not a 4 star. Things that need upgrading are: The gym (needs air conditioning and an expansion), the buffet is not as healthy and extensive as o [... read more]ther resorts, although I found food to eat, my belly got upset there and it did not return to normal for two weeks later. I wondered if filtered water is being used to rinse the vegetables. The a'la cartes are just adequate, with the exception of the Italian restaurant, which was excellent. The chairs on the beach are quite uncomfortable, and could use upgrading. The ladies on the front desk did not always speak English, but they were very nice and friendly. We noticed some upgrading and building going on, but it did not interfere with our stay, and was kept very quiet. The entertainment was almost always very well done, and enjoyable, however, the Piano Bar was a dissapointment, we thought there would be a piano player there all evening, and it would be more interactive and animated by staff for sing songs. It would be great if they could improve this, maybe it needs to be re-located so people find it easier. Our Sunwing Representtaive was very helpful and friendly, and worked hard to made sure we were satisfied. She did everything she said she would do, and we really appreciated this support when we were there. In a few years, we would consider returning to this resort, once they have done some upgrading.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great spot, staff need sensitivity training

Unfair treatment to guests that are not all inclusive. All guests should check in and be made to feel welcome at the main hotel. Not be made to feel, second class. A welcome drink to all guests. Better organization for shuttling guests in golf carts.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Some flaws

Although I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this resort, there were a few things that would have made my stay way more enjoyable! When reading the ad about the hotel, it states that internet is available at this hotel. A couple days after arriving we tried to use the internet and asked the front desk where we could do so. We were told that the internet was not working that day and to try again later. After looking around the resort, we found the room that was supposed to have the internet in, only  [... read more]to find that they did not have computers at all for guests to use. After speaking to some of the locals, we later found out that only 5 star resorts have internet use in Cuba now. The other thing that made me enjoy the resort less was that we never had clean towels. After the first day, we asked for clean towels only to find that they just reused the same towels that we had before. After asking once more for towels, they let us know that their laundry facility was not in working order. A housekeeper was coming around door to door letting us know that the laundry was not working. Although this may not have been their fault, I don't like taking showers, only to dry off with dirty towels; kind of defeats the purpose a little. I do have to say that I seen housekeepers come around to different rooms several different days with clean towels, even though we were told there weren't any. Also, after speaking to other people who stayed at the resort, they had let us know that they had clean towels every day. Enough with the bad stuff, and on to the good. The beach was absolutely stunning! I also liked that locals were not allowed to come right up onto the beach to sell things, and if they wanted to sell things, you could go down closer to the water to buy them. I myself, bought a couple of cute dresses! :) Another plus about this hotel was the food. After reading many comments about Cuba, I found that many people did not enjoy Cuban food. I found that this resort had many different options, and there was always something different to eat. I will say that their desserts are definitely not like ours. If you go for the desserts, I suggest the ice cream! :) The excursions that the hotel had to offer were also quite enjoyable! On our stay we did the day trip to Havana (which was absolutely stunning and very informational) and we did the Jeep Safari. Although I wouldn't classify it as a "Safari", this excursion was a favorite! Snorkeling, cave swimming, and a trip to a ranch were all included. All in all, I had a wonderful time at this hotel. If little things like I pointed out earlier were fixed, I probably would have rated this a 5 star. I would love to go back to this resort and see how much more I would enjoy it if these things were changed! :)

Hotel Tuxpan: First time at tuxpan

This hotel was very pretty , very clean , staff was helpful & polite ( especially Henry at the lobby bar & Danielo at swim up bar ) - however no internet available to even pay to use although there was a room that said internet ( was told I had to go to the mall to use it - I tired but only 3 computers and wait would have been over an hour and resort bank would not allow me to get money off my credit card which meant a bus trip (5 pesos a person ) to downtown varadero to go to big bank & 2 hr wa [... read more]it to get money . I found out this is the difference between a 4 star and a 5 star which I had stayed at before . I just wish I had of known before I got there to take more money & pay for wifi package -We met many nice people & walked away with new friends , shows at night were great , beach was amazing and water was crystal clear . A la carte restaurants were awesome & you were treated well , Buffet food was good for Cuba -Overall we did get what we paid for , a clean , safe & friendly place to stay .

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great vacation

I was pleasantly surprised.. The resort looked much better in person than in the pictures. The resort was very clean, staff very friendly and the food was better than expected.Of course it helped that the weather was perfect. The beach was fantastic especially for walking. No real complaints other than it was necessary to go tto the beach at 6:30 in the morning to reserve a palapas. More than enough lounge chairs, but the shade palapas were taken quickly. Good mix of families, couples, etc.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Very good resort

Hotel was nice, clean rooms. Buffet restaurant needs netting on patio way to many flies. L'carte restaurants were very good. Beach was excellent, lots of loungers and umbrella. Night life could have been better, more bars open after 11pm.

Muthu Playa Varadero: cuba visit

It did not have the services of a 4.5 star hotel. NO INTERNET - Rooms - no daily clean towels, only 1 bottle of water for week and sheets were only changed when a demand was made. Bar staff and servers in buffet were wonderful and friendly. Buffet had no a/c nor fans and food was mediocre. It was so hot that it made you feel ill and ready to collapse. Hotel Bella Costa: Fantastic Beach!

Beach and ocean are great. Resort is dated. Food is fine at buffet. Very good for families with young children.Stayed in a Supersaver Suite.Bed was terrible.Not one good nights sleep.Would not return.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Wonderful time!

The resort was really good and loved that you did not need a reservation for the a la carte. The service was excellent! Loved the beach. rooms were nice and clean and no trouble to get anything I needed for the room.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Just O.K.

Impossible to get clean towels at this resort! Buffet food was the same everyday. Pretty good omelettes and made to order pastas. Grounds need some work and more colours. gardeners are always working hard here and always pleasant.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Loved this property

The Blau Marina Varadero was a very comfortable clean resort. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Access to the beach was fantastic with lots of beach chairs and cushions. Loved the lobby bar and the 2 non smoking areas on either side of the bar. Lots of daytime and evening activites on site as well as day excursions. I would love to go back to this resort.

Roc Barlovento: Average hotel

The hotel was an average hotel- nothing fancy or pretentious, it was what we wanted.The staff were friendly, our room was cleaned daily and we had no issues. Well the patio door didn't lock but that was ok because we were on the third floor facing the tennis courts. The few negatives were- the beds were rock hard and after the first night we got used to it. The pillow was really flat but the maid Nurian brought extras when we asked. The buffet was the same everyday- for every meal. It became ted [... read more]ious after 5 days. The only other issue we had was the other hotel guests. Our fellow Canadians from Quebec were at times- well almost all the time extremely loud and inconsiderate. We had several across the hall and on the same floor that would stand in the hall and talk very loudly at 2 or 3 in the morning. They would slam their doors at all hours. Hogged several palapas at the beach and pool chairs at the same time. The hotel can use more umbrellas and chairs around the pool for sure. The hotel is located in the best position, close to several large markets and restaurants etc. There are 3 employees that stand out for us! At the Mexican and Italian a la cartes. Ernesto, Mongo and Eddie! They made eating there so much fun and are wonderful people. The Mexican was by far the best and a much welcome change from the buffet. I would not return to this resort as the buffet was not the greatest for us. It just became to much to eat the exact same items everyday. I did not take this into account when I chose a smaller resort. Small resort =small buffet. Defintely food for thought.
