Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: This Resort As Always is Amazing!!!

We have Returned to this resort many Times and all of the Aspects of this Resort are Five Star, We are Treated Like Family, We Return to See All Of Our Punta Cana Friends. It's Very Clean, Comfortable Food Is Very Good

We returned to this resort because we loved it so much 5 years ago and were impressed by the entire experience. Once again, the food was amazing and the grounds were impeccably maintained. Pool bar and restaurant staff were very friendly! My only negative comment was our room, when we first arrived there was half a can of beer sitting on our bathroom floor, not sure how that was missed especially with a changeover of occupants uness the maids were drinking on the job, but it made me questi [... read more]on the cleanliness? Also the mirror looked like it had been through a war, I actually first thought it was covered in mud and tried to clean it, but it was just totally damaged. My only other comment would be that there is not enough beach space for this massive resort, and unless you go reserve yourself a chair before 8AM you're out of luck. (compared to neighbouring resorts who had tonnes of room to spread out and even had empty chairs) Anyhow, we had a fabulous week! .

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Rest and Relaxation

This resort is top notch, I was not told no once (Ha Ha) no seriously the people that work there are amazing hard working. The resort is very clean,well kept.you can not go hungry here. The drinks are plentiful. The pools are very clean.The a la carts that we went too were great experiences.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Geat Family Resort

I was very pleased to see everything was wheelchair accessible even the beach. Very very clean. Loved the coffee/tea station outside buffet beside pool. Also loved the infused water stations instead of bothering bartender. Lots of loungers and shade around the pool. Beach was raked every day where there where plenty of loungers but a lot need to be replaced. It has a small reef for snorkeling and the kids club is next to the large pool not in the woods. Casa Marina Reef Resort: Just like 12 yrs ago and better

I’ve been to this resort 3 times now. Last was 12 years ago. I liked seeing the new improvements, such as the bars and the nice new Buffett building. We stayed at the Reef side, but if we come again, will see about the Beach side again. We arrived late on March 6th due to the rough seas had flooded the airport. So we lost much of the first day. Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Beautiful Resort

Everything at this resort was exceptional..Staff was very helpful and friendly. However, the resort needs more English speaking staff. Many spoke little or no English at all. The rooms were absolutely beautiful. The layout was exceptional. Yes I myself would definitely return to this resort.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Great Family Vacation

We had a lovely time at the resort! Our family of four, including two 6 year olds, enjoyed our stay! The beach and pools are very nice! Our hotel room was ok, we liked that it was close to the beach. The maids did an ok job at cleaning. We never knew what time they would show up and what they would leave for towels or drinks, it varied day to day. We left lots of things laying around and nothing was stolen. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, some were not but we didn’t let that bother us. We really liked that there were covered walkways most of the way to and from the lobby and beach, so we could get shade if we wanted. The wifi was give or take, mostly take, and there should be more plug ins both in the rooms and around the resort so people can charge their devices. The grounds were kept ok, maybe a few more staff would help. The beach was well kept and we really appreciated that everyone took their towels or they were removed each night so every day was a fresh day. We loved all the palm trees on the beach and huts to get out of the sun. The birds were my favourite and I enjoyed photographing them. Maybe more care given to the wildlife areas would be an extra bonus to photographers like myself. The food was good. We especially liked the Rodeo Steakhouse. The house white wine was disgusting cloudy and not drinkable, the house red was ok. The bottled wines at the a la cartes were good though. I wish there had been more champagne for mimosas, but made due with vodka and orange. We really liked the natural fruit juice bar on the beach. As well as the daily and nightly activities. All in all it was a great vacation!!

TRS Cap Cana Hotel: Beautiful Resort, beach is so so

The grounds are beautiful and having a 'swim-up' was great. Food was great and for the most part, the staff were friendly. At times, some of the wait staff could not speak English but not too frequent. The small beach on the resort is nice, however, the water is always murky from the sand kicking up. The neighboring beach is a bit rocky and the cost of drinks / food there adds up quickly. With the exception of the hotel gift shop, there is only a couple of other shops nearby. The lobby bar  [... read more]area has very little entertainment in the evening. Some evenings, there is none. After checking out, the driver hired to drive us to the airport was not very friendly. Overall, we had a great time. If we didn't return to this resort, it would be due to not having a nicer beach.

Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: Very poor for price....

The grounds were kept nice..the rooms were dated but fine except the bathroom toilet would not flush..the bathroom sink wouldn’t drain..we even upgraded ourselves for VIP..$300.00....really...there are 2 classes of VIP. A and B I presume..we only pd enough for B I guess... if you speak only English good luck..vip breakfast bar..bacon and eggs didn’t .exist. We waited 15 min for coffee, only to find when waiter left that it was freezing...and another 15 min for new one..bacon and eggs was ac [... read more]tually 2 eggs... never all easy over..and bacon had to come from buffet. Was gonna be 5 min.. after spending so much time waiting on the not so easy over eggs, the bacon still hadn’t arrived..still waiting.........food was garbage really..beach was sardines in a can..very unhappy staff..we had ala cart one night at Mexican and the waitress was the best...most fun...AND could speak English without having to get somebody else to explain...........all in all I would not recommend...I have better treatment in Cuba at a 3 1/2 star....really...and could have been there for 3 weeks for the cost of one at be live.....hope this helps so body who only speaks English....

VH Atmosphere: Very happy

Hi, we were pleasantly surprised with our accommodation at VH Atmosphere. Staff were super friendly and pleasant. Food was proportionate to the number of people and was of good quality, well cooked and tasty. Resort was clean ... only criticism would be the beach. The area for our hotel was quite small and there were a lot of vendors.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Great Value Resort

Aside form the undrinkable "house wine" wine and the rooster that woke me up in the mornings. This was a great vacation for me and my family. The resort is very well maintained the staff is great as is the food & restaurants. The plus of having a coffee house was very well received. The kids loved the bowling and kids club. Would recommend for the price we paid.

Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Great hotel room

Most of the employees were really kind and cared about your needs. The hotel room was really cool how there was a window to the bathroom so we could watch TV in the bath. The one issue with the room was that when we first came the bathtub seemed a bit dirty and also the shower was kind of weird that it had jets in the wall so it was scary to turn it on. I really enjoyed the drinks by the pool as they were all delicious.

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: Decent resort

Overall a decent resort. The buffet was great. We never went hungry. Lots of quality selection. Booze was ok. You could buy the better booze at the bars if you wanted. Beach was beautiful. White sand and turquoise water. The architecture was pretty plain and so was the pool and gardens. Nothing flashy about this resort at all. Lots of French speaking people there. Not as many English. Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Great Resort

Best resort I have visited for the price. Great service, clean grounds and wonderful food. The easy check in on the bus meant no line up and the choice to go directly to our room to drop off our bags and organize our things before returning to the main village to eat.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Pool Nice, Beach Dangerous, Don't Travel with Air Canada

My girlfriend and I stayed at the GBP San Juan in early March of 2018. When we checked in to Pearson Airport we learned we would not be sitting together, which was fine but a bit disappointing to start the trip off, but again not a big deal. When we landed and checked out of customs, Air Canada didn't arrange a ride for us to the resort resulting in us waiting an hour or so after everyone else was transferred to their prospected resorts. When we finally got a ride the driver didn't seem to ha [... read more]ppy, I'm guessing since the resort is a good hour and a half from the airport. The ride was interesting, good to see the local culture and nightlife from the minibus. When we got to the resort at about 10:30 pm local time the buffet was still open and they let us eat before checking in which was nice. This is a massive resort, the luggage guy was nice enough to hook up some local ganga for pretty cheap. We stayed in C9 block, the room was great. AC worked almost too well, fridge was cold, was cleaned daily. The only thing was the shower pressure was spotty and the toilet worked but constantly ran so I had to keep opening the lid to giggle the float. The bed wasn't that comfortable but did the trick after a day of drinking in the sun. The room was cleaned every day. The pool was great, the beach not so much. The water is also pretty dangerous as some kayakers got swept out, one didn't make it back and it took the lifegaurds two hours for a rescue mission. By that time the poor girl capsized a couple times and lost all her belongings, not to mention the mental shock of being left alone out in the ocean for that long. The food was great. Big buffet with lots of variety, the A La Cartes were ok. The staff was friendly as expected. All and All it was an Ok vacation for the price. But I would suggest going elsewhere if you can, and don't travel with Air Canada.

Riu Merengue: Perfect Vacation

Pros: Food and drink are amazing. Beautiful beach. Live music at night! Awsome houskeeping. Access to riu bachata. Lots of pools. Paddle boarding and kayaking available!! Cons: Hard to get coffee in the morning at the main buffet. Wifi only worked for 3 out of 7 days.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Amazing staff; excellent resort!!

First and foremost, the staff was wonderful; especially our concierge Allan!! Accommodations were arranged in advance as per our email request which made our arrival easier; a twin bed and crib were installed in our room. Rooms were very cleaned and resort overall was well being lookef after. There was maintenance being done every night on the main pool as well as painting. Food was great. Large variety and always well cooked. We enjoyed all three of the à la carte restaurants! Beach  [... read more]was raked every day and huts repaired immediately if necessary. Overall, an amazing location!

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great value

Nice sized with less than 200 rooms. The Amnesia room was spacious,clean and well decorated. balcony view overlooking parking lot / road / golf course offered decent privacy. We had AC problems on three occasions in the same room so that was frustrating. The pool area and bar was nice. The beach area was okay with a decent bar and food area for lunch.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Melia Caribe Tropical, a nice resort near Punta Cana

This resort is a solid 4 star. It is definitely a nice resort, but there are some minor issues, or rather, nuances, that will prevent them from getting 5 stars. First the positive: This resort is huge, and yet it was not crowded at all, despite the fact that half of our stay was during the supposedly busy March break period. People just kind of dispersed throughout the huge facility. The beach is about a km (just over half a mile) walk from the main lobby building, so depending on where you [... read more]r apartment or room is located, it may be a good walk. The good news is that the hotel runs regular train service all around the facility, and during the busy evening periods, this is topped up with multiple golf carts transporting people around. There have been plenty of space on the beach or around the pool at any given time. No need to hunt for beach chairs, or waking up early to reserve seat and finish the rest of your morning sleep on the beach (that is what I did last year at a different resort in a different country). The beach is probably 400-500 m wide (1/4 mile), and you may want to check it out at the Level apartments, as it seemed to be always clean of seaweed. The food is decent, especially in the buffet, we were never disappointed in that. The other restaurants are nothing special, only good for a break from the buffet. We were not impressed with these a la carte restaurants at all, the desserts were especially bad. During every breakfast or lunch, they try to get you to reserve a spot in the Japanese hibachi or in the Steakhouse restaurant for USD 50 per person, but not with great success, mostly these places were empty at night. The rooms are clean and upgraded, the room service and the minibar refill is timely and regular. Staff is friendly, and you don’t feel the urge or necessity to tip. You can certainly tip your golf cart driver, or your waiter/waitress, or the gardener who, just out of the blue, cuts up a coconut for you, but you don’t have the feeling that they expect it from you. The grounds are very well maintained, there are lots of peacocks around, so you can take some nice pictures. Note that they will appear beside your breakfast table too ;-)) Now the less positive: If you decide to sign up for any tour, like dune buggys, monkey land, sailing, anything that is outside the resort, be ready that your trip on the bus will be an average of 60-80 minutes longer. That is because they pick up Melia guests first, and drop them off last. It is not really the hotels fault, but it could be an inconvenience, especially because that extra hour you spend on these not so comfortable truck-converted-to-bus type vehicles. Again, desserts in the à la carte restaurants are definitely seeking some major improvements. The beach was ha it and miss to be clean from seaweed, and that goes for the water too. The good thing is that this whole beach is so wide, that you will eventually find a spot where everything is clean. Be ready for all kinds of sales pitches when you walk on the beach. People will try to sell you anything from pictures with a monkey thru parasailing all the way to weed. Overall, we were satisfied with this resort, and would recommend it for both families with kids of any ages, as well as for couples. We even probably will return in the future. And definitely will mark Melia resorts as preference on my future searches.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Near death experience

Went what was to be a relaxing fun kayak water sport adventure with 2 friends just in resort and turned deadly with the weather. Lost my friends and then lost my kayak and paddle due to white squalls and undercurrents. My friends I found out made it to shore and asked for help which took over an hour because they didn’t have an emergency plan in place so I was stuck with only a lifejacket in the Atlantic Ocean before being rescued. Then for the remaining two days of our trip they did nothing a [... read more]nd didn’t follow up with myself and the two other kayakers to see how we were doing following this traumatic experience because none of their lifeguards were watching the ocean at all only tourists who cane running and screaming when they saw me. Never go on their kayak!
