BelleVue Dominican Bay: 2 Stars at Best

The hotel rooms were not ready for our arrival at 2:30. Check in is 3PM. This made for a very long day already including the lengthy bus trip from the airport. It's not too far an expectation that the restroom area at reception would have been clean. Of the 3 stalls available in the ladies bathroom, only one was clean. The men's bathroom was closed. Our room was in block 7. The kitchen area was dirty, the television didn't work, one of two beds were broken, there was no safe and no towe [... read more]ls. We called reception and told the front desk employee our issues and asked for a new room. We were told we didn't have to use the kitchen. We asked for a new room anyway. He called us back and we proceeded to the reception. The front desk employee asked if we were alright with a ground floor room and we were. We received a room in block 17. The room was much better but it did have its issues; the main one being the middle patio door could be pulled open from the outside even in the locked position. We didn't say anything because this room was much better than the last. The dining room was exceptionally clean however the tables needed to be cleared and re-dressed quicker. It was often difficult to find a clear table with fresh utensils and glassware. Ended up sitting at a dirty table and asked a female server for 2 glasses. She went to the nearest uncleared table and held 2 glasses up to the light to see if they were "clean". She then brought the two "clean" glasses over. We refused them. A male server later brought 2 glasses over. Although water coolers are available, bottled water should be available for purchase 24 hours a day. As we don't drink alcohol, we drink a lot of water and was at the mercy of the retails store's opening and closing hours to quench our thirst. Hotel guests should have been informed prior to confirmation of stay, that local residents would have taken over the pool and snack bar areas on Friday, Saturday and Sunday making it difficult to get drinks, find chairs or get a quick snack. We travel to the Caribbean for the beach. We were disappointed at the beach here. It was dirty with garbage everywhere, no evidence of grooming at all. The local food area on the right side of the hotel - empty their cooking oils and refuse into the sea. The sales people on the beach were relentless - worst we've seen in the Caribbean. We spoke to other Canadian guests who were also disappointed. We all seemed to be having the same experiences with our rooms and vowed that we would all speak up.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Review of Bachata

The grounds were well kept in the main areas, in outer areas not so much and were underwhelming. The rooms were dated and the beds/pillows were uncomfortable. The room smelled musty and worse when the underpreforming A/C was on. We kept door open for fresh air and breeze. The pool area & lobby were nice when there were not smokers nearby. The food was nice but overly repetitious. The 'main street' was half empty and only souvenir shops open. There was a gym there also but very hot, not good A/C. The beach was nice and the general area very picturesque. There were vendors approaching you on the beach for hair braiding, and water craft activities. I understand this hotel has been sold and new owners take over at the end of the month. Interested to see what they do...

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Great Resort

The hotel was amazing!!! The staff was very nice especially our Maid Maria for room 9305. The rooms were clean and tidy and she made sure we had everything we needed. the restaurants were great especially the Lobster House. Although the Lobster was not included in the all inclusive it was well worth it that we ended up going there again for a second night. You get bread and butter, appetizer, soup, salad, the lobster with mashed potatoes and vegetables and dessert all for $20 US. The Windows restaurant (Buffet) was awesome!!! a lot of variety to choose from and their omelets for breakfast was to die for. Everything was delicious!!! We would definitely go again if the opportunity arises and I would definitely recommend this resort to family and friends. The only down part of the resort was the staff who pushed and tried to force you into buying time shares. BE CAREFUL!!!! its a scam and not worth your time. They will bug and bug til you give in so please don't give in to these pesky people!!!! Other than that, everything was AMAZING!!!!!

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Wonderful Holiday!

Totally enjoyed our vacation. Resort clean, excellent food, excellent people. Only down fall was the internet, possibly better instruction. Reception was good, but no info given. Example,we got to the lunch buffet on day of arrival, and waited to be seated, as this is what we were used to from previous vacations. At this resort you seat yourself. Was not informed of this. Other than that, it was an incredible holiday.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Amazing Resort

This was a fantastic choice. Rooms were very clean as are the grounds and washrooms. Loved it all. The staff work so hard to ensure your trip is enjoyable and the beaches are beautiful beyond words. One suggestion is to allow yourself more time to get through the airport. 3 hours was not enough.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: A beautiful resort

Beautiful resort, with beautiful kept grounds. Three big pools, a lot of activities for small children. Good food, and great a la carte restaurants. Nice lobby upon arrival. We had a problem with our room and the next day we were switched to another with no problem.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great Resort....Great Price

This was my 6th time here and with all the upgrades they have done within the last year it was amazing. The food was great as usual, always something to find to fill you up. The new buffet look like a 5 star along with all the exteriors of the other building on the resort...what a change it was. The staff were great just like before, loved to see a lot of my old friends still working there. Can't wait till next year to see what else they will do with the place....would recommend this resort to  [... read more]anyone who likes not to spend a lot of money but get that awesome service like the bigger and more pricey places.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Spectacular beach

The restaurant on the beach with beautiful views. Small resort was very social.The staff very accommodating. Rooms are basic and dated. No elevators so if you have super saver rooms you will be taking luggage up 4 flights of stairs. Also no balconys for super saver rooms.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Nice Resort

Very well kept resort. Pleased with the quality of the shows, food and service. Location is a bit far from the airport, but the bus was fairly comfortable. We would recommend this resort to others. The price was reasonable and the value is what we had expected.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Nice Resort

This is a nice resort. Older. It could use some updating, but they have done a good job at keeping up with it. The food was good, with a new theme (i.e Italian/Mexican) everynight with a signature cocktail. The grounds are nice, well kept. The beach is also nice, however the large floating barriers in the water ruins the view and atmosphere. Stuck to the pool. Also an hour an a half to two hour bus ride was not told to us prior to arrival.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Nice place.

This is a beautiful clean resort.The food is pretty good. The brazilian a la carte was great. The service was good. Lacking in emuntrtainment. Beautiful long beach to walk.Must have been march break for quebec. Alot of french families. A lot of young children. Its our second time to el potillio. Ithink we will try somewhere else .

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Surprised

This resort exceeded our expectations,we new it was a three star resort but upon our arrival and once past the front lobby the grounds were absolutely beautiful. We had requested the renovated garden view room and ended up with a view of the ocean was well worth the upgrade. The staff were amazing always friendly the bartenders tried their best to serve people in order which sure doesn’t happen at a lot of five stars we have stayed at. The resort was quiet at night,perfect for a good nights sleep after a full day of sun drinks and food, in the week we were there we only saw one person that had a little too much to drink. The only thing that was anoying were the Lifestyle sales people and the vendors that set up in front of the buffet Wednesday and Thursday night. We left the resort and walked into Sosua two days which was a nice break and stopped at the Jolley Roger for drinks and sandwich and then to Silhouette for a cigar and endless coffee. Overall it was a great week and will likely return to the Cassa Marine Reef resort. Oh an added note they actually take soap and scrub brush and clean the lounge chairs something I have never seen at any five star resort.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Great Hotel with lots to do.

Hotel was clean and food was also an A+. If you enjoy dancing and a great night life than this is the place. The fitness and activity team is very interactive and have lots of great work outs and games through out the day. Also bartendars and wait staff were very good. The only down fall is the time share staff that bother you frequently.

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Great resort!

Did not purchase Preferred Club so access to only one pool but it had great activities throughout the day given by an awesome entertainment team and even special shows in the afternoon such as a very entertaining and funny synchronized show. One buffet that was good with lots of variety and the five a la carte restaurants were very good. Japanese and French were our favourites. The nightly outside shows were the best we have seen in all the resorts we have made. Excellent dancing, fire show,  [... read more]magic show, acrobatic show etc. Our biggest complaint is how cold the air conditioning is at the buffet, in the lobby and in the Moments bar. So cold you don't want to stay in those areas. Very clean resort and rooms but mildew smell in room. Would need to install dehumidifier. Nonetheless, would return and recommend this resort.

Riu Republica: Nice resort

The rooms were very clean and beautiful on the new side. The grounds were good. The pool and area was clean. Entertainment at night was poor except the Michael Jackson show. Only one store on site. Food was so so. Waiters and waitresses some very nice others very serious. Will I return to that specific motel. Probably not. It is to small not enough to do. And beach was closes for 3 days do to the wind. Waves were dangerous.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: great resort

hotel and rooms and grounds were fabulous. beach was nice you could walk quite far both direction from the resort. only down fall ocean was not crystal clear like other Dominican spots we have been too. It was an hour and a half drive from Punta cana air port.

Whala Bayahibe: Okay, but not really anything outstanding

First impression upon arriving at the outside of this resort on the airport shuttle was, "Oh my God, this can't really be where they are dropping us off" ??? Bus came to a dead end, and had to turn around in an area littered with all kinds of garbage. It was too early to check in, and they told us that if we wanted anything to eat, we would have to get to the buffet right away. They could store our luggage in a room, and we could come back and check in afterwards which is what we ended up doin [... read more]g. Food at the buffet was pretty good, and the pizza and burgers at the Beach restaurant where also pretty good. The only other restaurant on site was a sushi restaurant, which was not part of the All Inclusive package? There was really only one bar located near the pools, and most of the time it was very busy and slow. You could however get cervaso at the burger/pizza restaurant. The buildings where all very well kept and clean, and all of the staff where very friendly and nice. We booked 2 excursions via our Nexus representative "Johnny" Both excursions turned out well. There is no sandy beach at this resort, but they do have a shuttle that runs to a public beach not far away. We also took walks almost everyday into the downtown area where there are lots of vendors that like you to go into their stores and check out their goods. There also wasn't any night time entertainment at this resort of any kind. It seemed like most of the visitors to this resort where from parts of Europe and Russia. We met and talked with quite a few people, but it was really difficult to converse being that we only speak English. We were amazed by the people in the tour bus, etc. that could converse in a multitude of languages :) We were there the first week of March, and the weather was Fantastic. About 29 Celsius every day, with only a slight drizzle for a few minutes one afternoon :)

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana: 4.5-5- just missing that .5

This resort was great. Beautiful rooms, beautiful pools, gorgeous beach. However, the year before my boyfriend and i went to the moon palace resort in mexico and was blown away! We heard the hard rock resorts were similar so we booked with high expecations. There was nothing wrong with the hard rock but in comparison to Moon palace, it was always a close second in all areas. ( except beach) The food was good but not incredible like moon palace. The rooms were beautiful but need a face lift. th [... read more]e jacuzzi is clearly old and there is a very distinctive smell that was brought home with me. the resort is fairly big and rooms are far from the beach. The moon palace delivered chocolates to your room every night at 6pm and HR does not. - small thing but something i just loved from MP The staff is nice but not as friendly as moon palace. The pools were great but always very very busy. We had more room at MP The main difference and disappointment with HR compared to MP was the darkness of the resort. I suppose it's a "rock and roll thing" but the moon palace had such beautiful brightness with all the marble and open bright rooms- the main lobby bar is grogeous at MP and the hard rock- was again...fine but dark. so overall it was great and if i hadn't traveled to the moon palace first, i probably would have been blown away. i will say however, the beach is 10 times better than in MP mexico. we also got sucked into buying timeshares on our first day there- so we have our next 10 our with hard rock. not the end of the world, but i for sure have buyers remorse.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Relaxing Stay

This hotel was on of the better places I have stayed in Punta Cana...my room was clean and roomie...the grounds were beautiful with lots of space in the pool area...my only complaint was the food was the same at the buffets..day or nite....i didnt see where there was a theme for each day...the a la carts were delish and accommodated me because i have a Gluten allergy BUT not enough english speaking workers!

Occidental Caribe: Great Time !!

Just returned from this resort and all was good ! My husband and I went with 2 other couples and there were no real complaints. Pools are clean & nice, the pool with the pool bar has all the entertainment and is louder and the other pool is quite large and is quiet. This offers good options, if you just feel like relaxing or if you want to party it up your choice. Staff are friendly. food is good. All of us upgraded to a Superior oceanfront room, view was excellent.. Some rooms are located near  [... read more]the buffet which can be quite loud during breakfast and dinner, but once they are done clean up noise dies down. French leCart was the best but all others were good as well.
