Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Wonderful and relaxing!

This resort was lovely! We spent most of our time at the beach and the 'chill out' pool. The grounds are large, but very well shaded so we did not mind all of the walking - it helped burn some calories! The food was good, and the a la carte's were terrific. We had no complaints at all. Lots to do. We will likely return.

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Fantastic Resort!

Exceptional service, friendly staff and fantastic food. We have stayed at 4-5 star resorts all over the Caribbean and most offer similar quality. However, the quality of the staff and service at Secrets Capri sets this resort apart from the rest. You are pampered from check-in to check-out and they truly make you feel like you are part of their family.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: A Realist's Review

We were in desperate need of a break and wanted a week to relax, enjoy each other's company and do nothing. Our favourite vacation to date was Catalonia Royal Bavaro in Punta Cana where we had a 2 storey villa with our own private pool. This officially ruined vacations for us. Since our time there prices have increased dramatically. I did hours of research comparing resorts & reading reviews, trying to find something similar with a pool off the patio at a decent price. We were pleased with our c [... read more]hoice as this resort offered us exactly what we desired. By now you've also read all the reviews and can see that they are extremely redundant. You can safely eliminate the best ones and the worst ones and know that you will have an enjoyable vacation. You may have also noticed that this hotel continues to climb in the ratings each week as more reviews are written. Given that the resort is so new we wanted to give it a try before the prices potentially increase. We had a Platinum Deluxe Swimout Suite. All platinum rooms are in building 5. Merely booking a Platinum room does not guarantee you a swimout.If you want this make sure you book it. (heard people who thought this is what they booked) The only real difference in booking Platinum is the added advantage of 24 hr room service, free one day use of hydromassage facilities and the premium location of bulding 5. Building 5 is closest to the beach, the buffet (Yucatan) and the outdoor lounge area. Keep in mind it is also the quieter pool area of the hotel. Having said this, there is always a nice social gathering going on by the swim up bar in this area. Our room was along the back side of the building which probably offers the most quiet, private area on the resort. And even though it is around the back, the bar servers still find the time to stroll by to take your drink orders. If you are inclined to a bit more action, you will want to hang by the pool area near building 3. The hydromassage was disappointing but entertaining. You can use the steam room, sauna (more heat was not what we were looking for) and of course the hydromassage pool. This was the entertaining part. The water was pool temp. There are 2 metal seating areas where you can attempt to lay where there are jets surrounding you. I say "attempt" because it is impossible to remain seated without literally holding yourself down. A seatbelt would be an improvement. There are a couple of other water features. One almost took my husbands bathing suit off as the jet was so powerful! Good for a laugh...but wouldn't bother with it again. The room is huge, clean with plenty of space to put all your things. If you like to hang things, you may want to pack a few hangers. There are 6 in the closet. But lots of shelves and an iron available too. This was the first vacation I did not bring my own hair dryer. I wish I had. It was fine for drying my hair. However I am a round brush user (ladies will understand this) and it kept overheating, so I had to constantly wait that out. Minor. Loved the patio to the pool. Very convenient...nice to have access to your own washroom etc. We had regular loungers as well as the plastic moulded ones. Never used the moulded ones. If we wanted to nap we moved to the other side of the pool on the lounge beds. Never had a problem getting one at any time of the day. We spent our mornings at the beach and our afternoons on the patio/pool. The Beach: We spent a half a day at the beach every day. We chose the same little shade hut each day just past the crowd of people who feel the need to lay on top of each other within arms reach of the bar. It was perfect and quiet and we didn't have people walking in front of us constantly. The bar servers always make their way all the way down and back every 20 minutes or so which is fantastic. we enjoyed walking the beach every day. It's a nice flat walk to the left, quiet, nice sand, lots of coral and shells to find. There are a few easy spots to get in the water if you need to cool off. To the right are the other princess resorts, lots of people and good spots to get in and swim. The beach is harder to walk on as it is on quite an angle by the water and lots of seaweed to walk through. For adults only, the beach was a non issue for us. The Beach snack bar was convenient. Adequate, not spectacular...meat dry at times. Different things every day. Pulled pork, wings, ribs, burgers, dogs etc. And of course guacamole & fresh salsa! The Service really is spectacular. Never did we feel like the employees at this resort did not want to be there. Quite the opposite. You could literally go your whole week without opening a single door for yourself other than your room. Impressive. The food at the buffet and the restaurants was good...but not spectacular. There is a wide variety at the buffet and you will always find something new. Lots of seating available. I did wish I had a light sweater most evenings and mornings in the restaurants as they are all very well air conditioned. Pleasant surprise! Must reserve cages at the Grill and a show table at the Tao restaurant if you want those experiences. If you don't reserve the show table at Tao the only other dining option is the sushi bar where you sit and select the sushi items you want from the continuous conveyor belt going around in front of you. This was neat. Also a great appetizer to start your evening elsewhere. If you desire something specific, just ask. The Sports Park is a delightful area for a walk. We were pleasantly surprised by this. It's not as far out as people have led you to believe in these reviews thus far. It was a beautiful morning walk after breakfast. It was before they opened otherwise we would have attempted the paddle boarding. There is a short trail through the trees (I think this is supposed to be the running track, but I would never go this alone) . Highly recommend a walk here. If you like to walk, the resorts next door are easily accessed through the small brown gate on the far side of the Platinum lobby and offer lots of areas to explore. We enjoyed our vacation, it gave us the R&R we were looking for and we would return for the same reason if the price is right.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Almost 5 star

This resort is a few steps away from being a 5 star. We (gf and I) upgraded to the Adults only select club. I highly suggest this. My whole review is based on the fact that I upgraded to the Select Club Adults only section. If you stay select club adult only, you are in a different section in the back with a private pool just for adults, along with a nice swim up bar. The rooms are also renovated and are spacious, well above average. The walk to the beach is a good 10 minutes. As a select club member you also have a separate breakfast buffet close to your section and a separate select club french restaurant which are both excellent. Food on the resort in general is terrific. We didn't even get to try every restaurant because of all the choices. Alcohol! Dos equis and Sol are your 2 beer choices. They did have Crown Royal, Passport Scotch, Jim Bean, Patron along with several other tequillas, absolute,schmirnoff, and a number of other liqours available. Bartenders were always very friendly! Especially at the select club swim up bar. Unfortunately I cant remember any names. They went above and beyond. There was always staff cleaning up somewhere at all times. This resort is great for anyone at any age. Always something to do! Only complaints I have are seaweed on the beach, which they have no control over, and we didnt receive any bottles of tequilla,vodka and rum in our room like others seem to have. They did however, daily, refill our fridge with beer and pop. Also we couldnt find the big pot of seafood "stew" that was in many of the pictures. These complaints are all minor. We would go back for sure.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: royalton cancun

Resort was amazing. Staff were available and couldn't have taken better care of us. Food was very good. Can't say enough about our trip everything was incredible. Tour operators were funny and informative

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing 1st Resort Experience!

Amazing hotel grounds, great food variety, nice beach that went on for a long time, great service from the hotel staff and clean room. We also really enjoyed playing paddel ball and the on-site mall and shops. Would definitely return!

Barcelo Maya Caribe: BARCELO MAYA CARIBE- INCREDIBLE VACATION!!!

We stayed at the Barcelo Caribe for the first time. It was nothing short of amazing. We are beach people, so everyday we would head out to the beach, it didn't matter what time of day, there were always chairs and shaded areas. The resort is extremely kid friendly, we are an older couple and like our quiet times, not a problem there, we were amazed at the way they cater to the kids. Snorkeling amazing right at the beach, saw turtles, stingrays, loads of fish big and small. Food at Buffet I would [... read more] give it a 7 out of 10. but the Colonial next door had an amazing buffet,and the restaurants were top notch. I hope they can do something about the smell in the Sports Bar though. Its a great bar once you've gotten use to the smell. All in all I would recommend this resort to all, if you have small children or teens they will love it, Guarenteed.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Almost all we'd hoped for

May14-21 at Sensatori Azul, positively a great experience...shame about the beach. Arrived early and fortunate to receive an upgrade to a room that was ready. such a treat to be welcomed and shuttled in a luxury van rather than wait for numerous others to get organized before we were on our way. Food Aplus, gourmet inclusive is truly what we rec'd. Excellent drinks (Crown Royal and Dos Equus on tap). Fantastic room with no issues at all. No wristbands no reservations needed psoitvely a resort we'd recommend, but sadly the beach and Ocean entry is the only downfall we can speakk of.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great Resort, but limited at night

This resort had some great food and was very clean. The beach was pristine. However the pools and beach are all closed after dark and there was not much to do in the evening. I would highly suggest more available at night.

Grand Sunset Princess: Fabulous resort!

The resort was everything we could have asked for! A beautiful resort that is very well kept. A clean and comfortable room. In fact the rooms are quite fancy! The food options are endless! The service is wonderful and kind, they all try really hard to please you. I can't wait to go back next year :)

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great resort

Overall the hotel was great! The rooms were pretty standard but they were clean! The service was good not great and the food was good...great selection! The hotel was quite far from the beach but they do have carts to carry you! The grounds were good...well taken care of ! The kids club was good but didn't think there was a lot of supervision! I wouldn't leave my 4 year old there alone!

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Disappointing

The hotel overall is great, the food is so so! But if you book the Adults Only " Diamond Club", it is disappointing - the pool is full, no where you can find a empty chair everyday, even though you paid more as Daimond Club. The managment is horrible, I booked Ocean view Juccuci room, but I was placed in the swim- up room for two days, I had to move for two consecutive days before I could have the room that I booked. Grand Palladium Kantenah: Great Vacation Getaway!

Very nice facility, well kept and very clean, great food and entertainment and bartending staff. Huge resort so there was always new areas to explore, this was my third trip to a Grand Palladium Resort and would have no hesitation with returning to another.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing Resort!

It was almost perfect! Only issue was the offered 24/7 free internet we never received in the room only in the lobby. Nice polite staff, clean, very well maintained resort all the way! Transportation, food varieties and quality was great! We will go back!

Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa: Awesome Experience

This was our first time at a family resort , have travelled to Mexico 6 times always stayed at an Adult only 5 star resort .Have to say we had an awesome time . The rooms were great , clean ,bed very comfortable .. we were in the adult only section so it was peaceful and we overlooked a courtyard, had a hammock on our patio so it was relaxing. The grounds were beautiful and well kept! The beach was beautiful except that it is their windy season and there was alot of seaweed .. could have worked  [... read more]a litlle harder to clean it up.Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.. The food was one of the best we have had in Mexico... French, Asian , Mexican and Italian Restuarants stand out .. seaside grill was great for lunch and the worldcafe for breakfast buffet was great .. something for everyone !! Not as excited about their theme night buffets ie Mexican and Western. food not as good at these . Drinks were great just ask for the good stuff up on the shelf.. house red wine was surprisingly good.The staff were so freindly and helpful. Overall an awesome week . Only real complaint was the "time share " people on arrival , after a very long day travelling {unfortunately it is too far from the airport} this is not what you want to be doing when you first arrive at the resort!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Coba Disappointed

Second trip to Coba in 2 years, disappointed in what is now "Coba Beach" beach huts in NEED of repair to provide shade, seaweed cleanup lasted well into mid morning. Last year able to use Ackmual beach which is sandy very little seaweed and buffet for convenience, this year restricted so much more back and forth to Tulum/Coba for lunches etc. With Coba orange bracelet was denied access at Tulum lunch buffet as hostess said beach cover-up over full one piece suit was too short.........at the same [... read more] time a guest with a see through wrap and thong suit breezed into the buffet......... I totally felt our Coba bracelets was the reason for the denied access. We insisted the hostess be reasonable when we saw the see through cover-up and then the hostess let us into the buffet......very upset & disappointed!!!! Package supposed to have upgrade to "Golden Lobby " first 3 days requested Diet Coke in our mini fridge with no success, also stopped for beach towels (part of upgrade) however unavailable. After visit in 2014 nothing but great things to say encouraged friends to join us in 2015 however 2015 trip was a huge disappointment so will not be returning.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: very nice experience

This was a great resort to go to to just relax. The staff is what made it most memorable for my sister and I. Our absolute favorite staff members were Javier and Miguel in the buffet and Teotl in the entertainment staff. It was a very welcoming resort and there was always someone available for us if we had any questions. The rooms were great and food was delicious. Overall a great experience!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: A Little Slice of Heaven

The service, the grounds and restaurants were superb. The meals in restaurants were all served with love and the dishes were all presented nicely. I travelled with two twenty year old girls ,and they did not want to leave the resort. I have been to a Sandals before and Royalton compares to it. Great place for families, couples and solo travellers,and if you want to party it up ,bring your friends. Very safe, clean magnificent resort and the pictures do not do it justice. Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Pretty Great

We stayed at Royalton for 5 days for our honeymoon. Its a great resort. The room was amazing with the private terrace jacuzzi. The bars were pretty accomodating for non alcoholic drinks. We felt like we had a great time. Service everywhere was great. The only thing is you wont find good coffee or tea. Its way too strong. And the beach wasnt great. Too much seaweed! Also, not enough umbrellas on the beach for shade.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Good resort, but choose the right building!

The Hotel was good, a solid 4 star experience. However, there is a lot of variety in the buildings (there are 9). Building 2 had a very unpleasant smell (combo of disinfectant and pest spray). We switched to building 3 and it was great! Food was terrific, staff very personable and helpful. "Emerald" service is nice, but overpriced. Beach isn't great, but much better 10 minutes walk to the left.
