Paradisus Rio De Oro: Amazing resort

We have been at this resort about 24 to 28 times. We arrived the first week it opened in 1999 and have been going ever since. This trip was expected to be very differennt but we were very surprised except for a few slight things it was just as wonderful as always

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Wonderful stay!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Gran Muthu Almirante. The beach is beautiful. Staff were beyond friendly and helpful. Rooms and public areas were clean. The lobby is really welcoming and where many visitors hang out during downtime. I would come back again for sure.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Nice clean resort

The resort still looking brand new, but far from the airport, about 55minutes drive. the people at the hotel are very polite and helpful. they need you to comeback and they need your business.The area is still under developing, the downtown is little bit far from the resort if you wanna plan to dine outside the resort at night. The roads are not safe to drive at night, you feel like you're in a mountains area, not like Varadero or Cayo Coco! The food and drinks are fair not the greatest since you know you're in Cuba, you still can find something to fill your stomach. Recreations people are very nice. Rooms in general are still new, nice views, and functional .

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Wonderful stay

We had booked at the Iberostar Selection for two weeks, we had arrived on a Friday and it was good at the start, the lobby representative had advised us to come back next morning and inquire in getting a room with a king bed since the one we were assigned to had two double beds and it was just husband and I. We had met some guests that Friday evening when we were checking in and they had wa [... read more]rned us that the food at the hotel was repetitive due to the shortage of food in Cuba, we weren’t surprised but the food was still tasty and it filled us at every meal. The beaches were beautiful and the entertainment at the main pool was fun and enjoying. We met a couple at one of the a la carte restaurants and they suggested that we check out the Coral level resort due to their excellent service and a much quieter atmosphere and the food was better, so we decided to get a tour that night, the Jr Suite sold us both and we transferred from Iberostar Selection to the Coral level the next day, it was worth the money and we would definitely return to the Coral when we return to Holguin. The main reason why we decided to change is because the maid that was cleaning our room had left our back sliding door unlocked on three days straight, I first thought it was my hubby that did that cause he is a smoker and would smoke on the little patio in the back of our room facing the ocean. We thought maybe she forgot to lock the sliding door but it continued to be left unlocked three times in a row after our room was cleaned, I did approach the maid and spoke to a client service representative at the main lobby because there was no manager available. Otherwise we had a good time and our friends also joined us in our trip during the second week of our stay. Thank you to all of the staff at both hotels, the service was good and I forgot to mention that the show at the theatre was good, only saw the show twice but it was entertaining and the main singer has an amazing voice.

Playa Pesquero: Playa pescero

Excellent room but fair food services but in premium services every thing was fine food and pools and the beaches were fine too. One thing I suggest to do not eat in their restaurant is the banana wraped with bacon

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Beautiful resort

Great resort. Very clean.Check in was quick and easy. Staff were friendly and attentive. Not a huge variety of food or alcohol due to the shortage in the whole Country but what they had was good. Very big resort so lots of walking. Pools and beach were awesome.

Grand Memories Holguin: New Hotel - with bad beach location.

At the time of our visit, the beach was not cleaned, it was full of sand weed. Beach sand is dark brown. Beach bar was closed all the time. BRING YOUR OWN MUG, since this hotel had no plastic cups available or were always running out. It is not 5 star, I would say 3.5. The hotel is brand new, which is good.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Average resort

Hotel is dated in need of repairs that I thought would have been done during COVID shut downs, also fumigation of bugs and the cockroaches would be very helpful. This hotel is rated a four star I would give it a two point five or a three maximum. I found the buffet was got humid and stuffy, the managers tried something new with outdoor dining at the pool area and on the beach, a bright spot I thought.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Good new resort.

The rooms were perfect with air condition, the service was really good, the food was ok, the territory is well maintained. There weren't many black flies, otherwise the spray worked well. We all liked it except the beaches are not safe as there are a lot of local people coming. They stole our sandals and it was hell to stay on vacation with just sneakers. Iberostar Coral Holguin: Large resort

Stayed on the coral level side of the resort. Rooms were nice and always kept very clean. Towels were exchanged everyday. Pool on this area was clean and quiet with chairs always available. Butler service was amazing. Laritza and Junior went above and beyond for us and even arranged a special dinner for our honeymoon. Beach areas were nice. The only downside were the shortage of food and alcohol available. Not much vegetables or fruit available and no pop for mixed drinks. We did eat lobster all week at no extra cost. Quiet and relaxing in the coral level with only adults. Massages were excellent and very inexpensive. If you want to relax then this is the resort to visit. Definitely want to visit again so hoping that the shortage of food and alcohol improves.

Voyage with Trip central Hôtel not recommended- Playa Costa Verde Thursday 25/08/2022 We get in the airport (Montreal) they gave us the tickets to embark in airplane; the first problem met us there: they gave us a different place from what I asked the Trip central’s representative, which I paid more $200.00Canadian Dollars to have a comfortable seat for my wife and me. In the bus: everything went smoothly, we arrived in the hotel; we met by the receptionist, he gave us the room No. 1112, I asked him if we can see the room first before chick-In he told me the room O.K but we don’t have another to change it. We took our dinner hoping we see a good service in the restaurant tomorrow. Trace of Spider in the room (1112): I tried to call the reception many times, but nobody answers, we slept this night anyway, there is no hot water to wash ourselves. Friday 26/08/2022 No hot water to take shower, we tried to wash our faces, to go on to the restaurant taking the breakfast, it seems very poor service, we went around 08:00 o’clock, it seems a shortage of food!!! We went back to the reception telling them - the room smell bad because it’s near of the stook rooms of the housekeeping department, and a lot of strange Insects - and we want to change the room. He answered me we can’t change the room now; we will change it after 16:00, I asked him about his name he answer ‘Roger’, I asked Mr. Roger is there any manager or Supervisor to speak with, He entered the back office, and came back with a charmed person called Mr. Miguel (Michael) in English, and he told me to pack my Luggage’s to move from the room to another (2827) , Somebody from bellman helps us to move over there, then we decide to go to the beach, but there is no beach’s towels, it solved. In our way to the beach its smell very bad, we found a Rotten Canal, and I asked the guard about and he told me what it means it likes a (protected reserve) But it’s smell very bad. We continue to spend one hour on the beach, and back to change and take shower to go to take lunch at the restaurant. A water cut-off when we get back from the restaurant. Saturday 27/08/2022 Early morning coffee at 06:30 waiting for breakfast 07:40, back to the room, it’s very hot, preparing to go to the beach around 10:00, same dirty Canal, we passe it to the beach, I went swimming when coming back I swallowed water the people grabbed me to the shore, I vomited a lot, they send me to the hotel’s clinic for treatment with Dr. Ricardo, after two hours we (my wife and me) went back to the room, a lot of bad things happened today the water cut off also, I’m almost dying to today, I can’t go to eat I asked them to bring some food they brought it badly things after 2 hours 45 minutes. This hotel worth two stars maybe a motel!!! Sunday 28/08/2022 Playa Costa Verde, badly managed, Reception: they give the room’s keys for whole the stay and give the internet code for 5 hours you have to go back to renewing the 5 hours, I asked them: why you didn’t give the internet code as the room key’s they didn’t want answer!!! About the restaurant: it’s badly managed also, after one hour there’s a shortage of food, they should know how many guests they going to serve and put the food on course like not one shot but three times to serve all the people. And lately the water-cutting problem it’s very bad!!! Monday 29/08/2022 Always the water cutting off, and the electricity also. I found Insects in the bathroom Treatment at 09:00 with Antibiotic Injection. Tuesday 30/08/2022 A little of anything better than nothing: breakfast, and to the Clinic to take the Antibiotic Injection for treatment. I went to the restaurant at 14:12 to take lunch, but nothing to eat; I went public relation, it seems nobody care. You have obliged to take from what’s leftover or You have nothing to eat!!! When we went back to the room, we found an invitation from the Hotel direction for supper at 06:00 PM, Wednesday 31/08/2022, to honor the Canadian community in the Italian restaurant. Wednesday 31/08/2022 Early morning coffee in the lobby at 06:15 until breakfast time 07:30 after going to the Clinic to take the last antibiotic treatment, and back to the room. At 09:00 went to see the Doctor and take last date treatment. Back to the room, around 13:15 we went to take lunch it seems that there a shoring of food, the food not enough!!! At 18:00 We went to the Italian restaurant, I felt that the hotel’s direction feels guilty for us, for that reason they invite us to forget the bad things, but we don’t!!! Thursday 01/09/2022 It’s our leaving day we wished to close our eyes finding ourselves home to Canada. Coffee in the lobby at 06:30 my wife came, went to the restaurant for breakfast, around 07:45, back to the room to prepare our luggage’s around 12:45 the bus came to pick us to the airport. All the staying there is no hot water at all. Conclusion: I need my money back $1516.00 + $200.00 = $1716.00 , Bad Trip, Bad organized, and bad Hotel.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: the best resert in Cuba!!!!!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: The best staff and service ever!!

Absolutely breath taking beaches, the staff are truly amazing! We stayed on the Royal service side and it was everything we could have hoped for! Cubans are so friendly, we felt safe and the hotel was super clean.

Playa Pesquero: Very good resort and beach.

My family and I were in Playa Pesquero from 18th to 25th of August. It is my second time in that hotel. The resort is well maintained. The food is pretty good. The rooms are spacious and clean. Beds are firm and good. Entertainment could be better. Live shows with Cuban music and dancing were great, but there were too many boring shows like magic lights and karaoke. This resort is very large and it has a few air-conditioned restaurant, but unfortunately main buffet has no air-conditioning and that causes sweaty lunches and dinners in August. There are tiny, almost invisible mosquitoes, so bring bug spray and antihistamine. I did not go to the pools, so I cannot comment on them. The beach is wide and long and it has enough space for all guests. The water is warm and very clean. There are some stones in the water , but it is easy to find paths around them. Some people leave garbage on the beach and the hotel staff should clean the beach a bit more. Washrooms in the main lobby are very clean, but the washrooms around the pool and on the beach need better care. Overall this hotel is one of the best we have been. Internet works well even on the beach and it is practically unlimited. Once you spend your allocated hours on the internet, you go to the office and they give you more. If something gets broken it is fixed in no time. It appears that the management listens to the guests. The staff at the hotel is well trained and organised. We felt at home while vacationing at Playa Pesquero.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Amazing Resort

The hotel lobby and restaurants were absolutely beautiful and very well maintained, as was the landscaping.. The rooms are a bit dated and could do with a freshen up.. It was exceptionally clean and pest free! (A huge worry for me). The food was delicious, there wasn’t anything I didn’t like.. The buffet and al a cart restaurants had great selections.. The staff were amazing, so friendly and accommodating. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back again.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: beautiful resort. friendly staff.

beautiful resort, lovely staff, safe for kids, teenagers.relaxing there are some need to improve like gym, activity should extend a bit late spa open longer hour. they shut down early! wifi is bad electric down many times during day and night need more hotel information for guest like laundry, where to call when needed, house keeping time, mini bar…, i think the situation after covid i give them close to 5 stars p/s washroom and toilet are uncomfortable display missing door ….?

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Fabulous Vacation

Vacation was awesome from start to finish. Food, although lacking in some resources, was well prepared and tasty. Most of the staff were wearing masks and hand sanitizer was readily available around the resort. COVID quarantine rules were closely followed. Have been to Cuba 29 times; strongly recommend this resort.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: An excellent holiday resort for the price!

The Coral level was quiet and private but the main grounds provided busyness if you wanted. The staff were efficient, professional, friendly and eager to please.. The food at both levels was good. The room was outstanding! Very clean and spacious. I would recommend the Coral level and would return to this hotel.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Relaxing and enjoyable resort.

Cuba has been through a lot since even before Covid so they are doing their best. If you talk to the people who work there and get to know them, and enjoy the beach and pools, you will have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Nice resort but wouldn't call it 5 star

Resort is large with clean grounds, pool and rooms. Beach was nice although small. Snorkling right from shore viewing nice coral and rock formation with various fish. Resort had very few guests so no issues finding shade at the beach or pool. 21hrs of wifi given which seemed to work almost everywhere. Farthest point on the beach, wifi didn't work. Spa was very nice and good value. Able to enjoy facility entire day including sauna, salt water pool, whirlpool and small beach belonging to the ro [... read more]yal service side. No resort map given at check in. Had to wait a while for bell boy to drive us to our rooms, mean while we could have easily walked to our rooms as it was close to the lobby. No list of drinks at any of the 4 bars. I'm not a big alcoholic drinker so wouldn't know what to order or try. Evening shows was small and disappointed. They didn't even use the large stage(may be covid related or due to very few guests). Food was limited and very repetitive (may be due to covid and world wide shortages). Repeat guests said this is not normal. Cable TV has many Spanish stations with few English speaking, if it's working as it went dead several times. Water leaked from bathroom ceiling in last 2 days from AC unit.
