Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Confresi Palm Beach
Food was amazing, rooms were outdated no dressers or shelf’s to put cloths, beds were hard and pills lumpy. I could live with those things but there was NO HOT water the whole 7 days it was freezing!! Our group had young children that would scream when they had to showers!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: EXCELLENT RESORT FOR ALL AGES
The first thing you notice is just how hard everyone works to keep this resort spotless. The grounds are also neat and tidy..
BEACH & OCEAN - again, lovely clean sandy beach. The ocean was a bit rough when we were there due to rather windy weather. We were disappointed to learn that the gorgeous 'beds' on the beach were only for "Premium Visitors," as we do not remember seeing this addendum next to the lovely brochure photos. A 'hidden gem' was the bar and grill overlooking the beach and sea.
[... read more]POOL - Clean, with easy access for seniors. Plenty of chairs available.
FOOD - Outstanding - certainly the best buffet food we have had at any resort in Dominican or Cuba. No need to reserve for a "Specialty" restaurant, although we tried the "Octopus" and "Italian" which were both very good.
ENTERTAINMENT - this was OK but not up to the general standard of the resort. Tough to give this more than 3 stars - ** see below.
**KARAOKE NIGHT - there were many senior visitors, including us two. I know it is always a challenge to please everyone, but in our view, this evening was a total disaster. The show started well, with the first 3 or 4 contestants doing a pretty good job. Unfortunately, it all went downhill from there. The next several songs were all very loud 'hip-hop' stuff. The stage was 'invaded' by as many as 7 or 8 teenagers, who literally took over, with the compere loosing total control. What started off as decent entertainment became a wild, noisy, frantic melee of youngsters. My guess is that everyone over 40 made a rapid exit with perforated eardrums.
MUSIC - unless you are really into noisy Caribbean music, it was usually necessary to find chairs well away from the large amplifier. I think they had the bass turned up full as the constant beat of drums sometimes reverberated in our room!
ROOMS - spacious, with very comfortable beds. The fridge was always filled with complimentary water, soft drinks and beer. Great TV but mainly Spanish. Shower was great and always plenty of hot water. We could have done with a couple of hand rails in the shower. Really, only one negative - where was the coffee maker?
STAFF - very friendly and helpful with no exceptions. We are 2 seniors with walkers and everyone went out of their way to be as helpful as possible.
SUMMARY - we would probably go back to this resort as it has so many positives. I do wish they would turn down the music or play something different. Finally, we would not fly with Sunwing again, but that's another story.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Fun at Lifestyle Tropical
A wonderful resort for the money. Clean. All in good repair. Buffets more than adequate. Didn’t visit many a la carte. Beach not much and not easy to get to but there. Food was served and staff gloved, masked etc Pools good. Shortage of lounge’s but still good. Unfortunately some bartenders got a bit demanding for tips. All in all a good value and we will return.

Playabachata Hotel: Great value
We were there for 2 weeks as of end of February 2023. Big improvement from last year. More daytime adult pool activities and more entertainment every evening. The food on buffet was also more flavorable. We'll be back.

Playabachata Hotel: We spent the worse vacation with stomach infection
We spent the worse vacation with stomach infection. An ambulance came everyday to this hotel. We paid for a holiday all inclusive for 2 weeks, the room had a strong smell of mold, the air conditioner did not work, we haven’t slept the first night because of a strong smell, next day we changed the room, air conditioning still wasn’t working again, we were three people, but they gave us two twin beds, I spoke with hotel manager and with an Airtransat agent, no results. I paid the full price f[... read more]or three people, everyone should have bed logicaly, but they told me I had to pay an extra $ 1183 for the 13 days, to add an additional bed.
Then I spoke to many people from the hotel, the air conditioning did not work for anyone.
Room: The furniture is very old, there is a strong smell of dampness, cockroaches run around, you have to ask for toilet paper, towels are not always changed, despite the fact that we give tips.
Food: Buffet is an open space without windows, so the birds and insects are flying, small birds sit down and eat what tourists eat, many flies, never see the tables ready for food, have to look for forks, knives, napkins which are cut into two and four parts are saved. The food does not have taste, the chefs have no idea how to cook, in most cases the food is terrible, although cheeses, ham and smoking meat are not bad very small selection. Most importantly: we all got an intestinal infection, like many with whom we met.
Service is terrible: Always looking for something- towels, blankets, drinking water etc.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Wired things to see ever in any resort
We just came back from our March break vacation, from the reviews I read before going I was ready for it.
When you arrive the check in takes time because you have to sign for papers about what’s included in your room(spoons,cups,etc..) and if you lose the room card or the bracelet you pay $200(american) each and you rent the safe for $20 for the week (first time ever to pay for the safe).
Internet is $45 per week per person (you have one hour free everyday per person, very slow connection)th[... read more]e only resort I saw you have to pay for internet) I didn’t buy it.
We asked for 2 rooms connected, we were surprised 😲 when we arrived they don’t have connected rooms, rooms are clean but very old needs TLC,you can’t control the AC temperature, cause there’s no remote control, there’s no hot water in the shower(just worm water).
The first day they fill the mini fridge with water and 2 drinks and then They refill the mini fridge with 2 bottles of water only every day 😲
The food is good and tasty, drinks are just okay, you have 3 à la carte restaurant, there was a huge line up for reservation 😒.
They have VIP membership sales will ask to take you for a tour, don’t go it’s waste of time, it’s scam, it’s the first resort I feel like they only cares about VIP members, even I emailed them many times before I go to confirm about the connected rooms(I have 2 kids) and some questions they never replied to me.
The beach is beautiful, they have variety of swimming pools.
There’s no coffee machine anywhere except in the main bar even in the buffet, so every time you want to drink latte or espresso you have to go to one place, if it’s open😒.
In our last day, we checked out at 11:30 am and the bus came at 6:00 pm, we put our luggages at the reception they kept it in a locked room, we spent our day and then you go to the reception they give you a room to take shower and change.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: No bad
The resort is huge didn't get around to see everything. There are a lot of stairs and levels. The food was fantastic, but really hard to get reservations at the restaurants. The rooms are small and out dated. Only cold water for showers which was difficult to enjoy. The entertainment ends really early and you have to take a shuttle to go see the shows in the evening. The resort is dead quiet by 10:30.

Playabachata Hotel: Good Budget Friendly Hotel
My mom and I went on a trip and chose the cheapest 4 star resort in all the DR/Mexico and this one was in our budget/cheapest deal.
I went for the sun and sand and that's exactly what I got!
I'm a picky eater and was able to find food for all meals. Breakfast I had potatoes and chocolate muffins, lunch I usually had pizza (which was so good!) and dinner usually pasta and some sort of meat (pork or chicken and they did have some beef options). We always sat where Gabriella and Raymond were serv[... read more]ing. They were great!
The rooms was cleaned every day but had lots of ants. We also only 1 bed sheet. The showers were pretty narrow and we didn't have hand soap for the first few days. The AC was noisy but didn't bother me too much. Apparently at the sister resort the Senator's AC was broken the entire week we were there.
Wifi was slow and only in the lobby but again, that didn't bother me as it's nice to disconnect.
The beach was beautiful and seemed pretty private which I loved. Beautiful scenery. There were some broken chairs, but again, this didn't bother me. It was a place to sit and relax. The red flag was up for a couple days and some people went out too far and the lifeguards had to go out and help them but the lifeguards seemed really great and on top of things!
I didn't have high expectations as it was a spectacular deal and I knew we weren't going to a 5 star/newer hotel but I would go back again if the price was right!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Second visit
Our first visit was in 2016 and we enjoyed it then. After pandemic, we decided to visit again and were no disappointed. Not much change in hotel, same restaurants, entertainment, and quality of service. Our concierge Jejeydy, not sure about correct spelling was very helpful in meeting our needs. We purchased with two week stay with Royal package which we recommend highly. The Vintage Club is very nice place to relax, have cappuccino or what ever international quality drink, have a conversation, [... read more]play cards or what ever. Unfortunately, some guests can be little noisy with group laughs, but it can be tolerated. In order to get to restaurants, you must reserve early, especially for first or second seating. Menu does not change and that is little drawback. In restaurants they serve same wine as in buffet and it is not the best quality. You can purchase by bottle, but I did not recognize brands. For Royal package they should serve better wine inclusive. Assistant beverage manager (Carlos?) listened to our comments. Bartender at the Club remembered our "usual" drinks and was appreciated. Amar, the one of many servers was working very hard in the morning, lunch and dinner. Private beach was very clean, well served by attendants Jose, Lukas and others. In some cases the original architect made minor mistakes in design, especially in public washrooms. It could be remedied at the minor cost, if management decides to do it. Overall, hotel was very clean and maintained as such.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: excellent resort and stay
WE STAYED HERE ABOUT 14 YEARS AGO, I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE EXCELLENT CONDITION OF THE PROPERTY, FOOD WAS GREAT, SERVICE WAS GREAT, OVERALL VERY SATISFIED WITH OUR TRIP. ONLY COMPLAINTS WERE TOO MUCH SPANISH MUSIC AND TOO LOUD. MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WERE CANADIAN AND MORE POPULAR ROCK AND COUNTRY MUSIC WOULD BE APPRECIATED. LADY WHO RAN THE POOL BAR WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND GREAT SERVICE

Playabachata Hotel: Amazing Resort
Just got back from a two week stay, the best advice our travel agent told us was to bring our water shoes, the beach was lovely but grainy to walk on. Ensure you bring a proper charger for your phone/pad ours didn’t fit as the outlets were circular and edges raised, some rooms had been updated but ours wasn’t. The resort was massive, two huge pools, I liked the landscaping everything was lush and green a lot of vegetation not stark and cement. Very little English spoken by staff which could [... read more]be frustrating for some people. If you want to go somewhere to be totally immersed in the culture this is the place you want to go. I am already looking to go back next year for 3-4 weeks. Red and white wine on tap, beer on tap, a pot of coffee or tea with a small pot of warmed milk, these little extras make you less dependent on being served.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Best resort ever!!
We loved this hotel, we have been to many all inclusives and this was the only time the front desk ever called us twice to see how everything was and if we needed anything. It was friendly and very clean and the food was good. What we liked also was that one pool was for the party people and the other was for relaxing. We also loved the coffee and dessert room that we visited every day! Martha was also very special and kind to us, wonderful customer service well beyond expectations. Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: So Disappointing
Let me start by saying that the food was good and the bed was comfortable. Now let’s get into the reality… we arrived at 12:30 am and had to stand in line to check in, 1 person working the desk with 20 people incoming. Once that was done we were taken to our room, we requested a ground floor for health reasons and when we entered our building in the last row of buildings on the resort we were informed we were on the 4th floor with no elevator. We made the climb and we’re then greeted with [... read more]a musty smelling room that had no air conditioning. Not at all what we wanted, back down to the desk as the phones did not work, after about an hour we were given a room in the building next door on the ground floor, after moving everything down to that room which also did not have air conditioning. The next morning we inquired about air conditioning and were told they were fixing it…. That never happened.
We attempted to find chairs at both the beach and the pool but apparently people get up at 5am to put their towels on their loungers for the day so good luck finding a chair.
Most of the workers spoke no English at all which made communication very difficult.
When we approached our concierge about our issues she offered us VIP but we would have to pay extra and listen to the Timeshare opportunity… no thanks.
The alacart meals are a joke, you have to make reservations which is fine but we arrived on a Tuesday and could not get a alacart until Friday night as they were all booked, however when you walked by those same restaurants at prime time they were 1/2 empty. In order to book meals you had to get in line at 8:30am-10:30am to book them and they tell you they are all booked.
You are allowed 2 towels for pool/beach, if you misplace them or don’t return them be prepared to pay.
The beach was red flag all except 1 day and very wavy and rocky.
It is a very pretty resort with nice grounds that are well kept however they have serious issues in the back of house and need to think more about their guest then their pocketbook.
Getting bottled water and pop in your room was difficult and limited 2 bottle of pop and 2 bottles of water per day ( if you’re lucky)
The drinks were subpar and so full of sugar you felt sick.
Juice at the buffet was available IF they had glasses.
Breakfast at buffet was good but if you want bacon be there before 8am as they only make 1 tray and when it’s gone there is no more for the morning.
The VIP golf carts are always forcing you off the walkways in order to get through.
The friendliest people on the resort are the cleaning staff.
Special thanks to Benjamin for hooking us up with excellent excursions!
I will not go back to this resort, it should only be rated a 3 not a 4.5 star

Playabachata Hotel: Has potential
Great little nook in the heavens! However, no electricity, no telephone or air conditioning for the week. The set up was flat, simple and food decent. Quite a walk to attend dinner/shows. Stay at 1, play at 3. It was a haven for peace and ease. I will be bringng my ageing parents (60 years married) here next year.
The staff were pleasant, accomodating and the ground were well kept.

This resort is older Caribbean style but freshend up and very clean . Rooms were a nice size and bathrooms were updated and clean . The pools were decent had a nice pool bar with friendly staff everywhere lots of loungers und umbrellas. Food at all the restaurants was good and large selection . Wou[... read more]ld recomend this resort to all looking to get away for fun in the sun for a reasonable price is a good 4+ resort . If impressed by mordern big glass n marble lobby etc this is not for you but for the average person looking for clean good food n drinks its great. Also this beach might not be the white sands of Punta Cana but clean soft sand and can walk for miles each way safely was enjoyed by many each day great swiming.
