Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Good hotel great beach

The hotel is very old, but maintained. The food was typical Cuban style food, and there was not much variety, but it improved over the last few days of the trip. The beach was stunning, although it seems like you had to walk a mile out to get the water that was only waist deep. We did not use the pools so I cannot comment there, but it did look clean, and many guests appear to enjoy the pools. The main issue with this resort, was the mosquitoes. I amNot sure if it’s Cuba overall, b [... read more]ut I’ve been to Cuba many times before and just never had so many bad mosquito bites as I did this vacation. This happened the minute we stopped on to the bus which took us to the hotel. And continued once we got to the hotel. Also being bitten in our hotel rooms. Because of this, we did not get to experience the shows at night, and stayed indoors to the extent possible, because the mosquitoes were out of control. But it’s probably just that time of year. It was much worse at the beginning of our trip, and not so many mosquito bites towards the end.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Fantastic Time once again

It was great to see the improvements just from a year ago. Food seemed much tastier. Pastries were delicious. Omelletes every day. An ice cream truck was just added near the pool and they just finished building a big terrace set up with picnic tables in front of two containers that were serving drinks and lunch. The beach was fantastic, no seaweed and waves only on one day but they were fun! There were mosquitos, but Off worked fine. There was plenty of entertainment. The restaurant food was much improved over last year, especially the Mediterranean restaurant. The staff were all welcoming and so nice. Yoany in the buffet restaurant should be made manager. I’ve never seen anyone work so hard with such a smile! He never stopped running. Yeny in the reservations office was very helpful. Our maid kept our room spotless and we had turn down service at night so received new towels twice a day where needed. The only drawback was that almost every bathroom only had one working toilet and there were no toilet seats at all in the lobby bathroom. However that will not deter us from returning!

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Amazing Review

Everything was perfect food , pool, room, staff all friendly, and helpful.One thing I would say maybe have more water in the fridge , and change the pool towels everyday. Besides that resort was wonderful.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Very enjoyable time at this resort!

This review is mostly focused on the 18+ side. The grounds were very well kept. The room was amazing along with the view from the large balcony that was attached. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I had no complaints about the internet access, but I did not try any streaming. I was never disappointed at any of the restaurants, they all had good food and service. Memories Jibacoa: An unforgettable getaway at Memories Jibacoa!

My stay at Memories Jibacoa was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The resort is perfectly nestled between the mountains and the sea, giving it a peaceful and truly unique atmosphere. The beach is stunning — soft sand, crystal-clear water, and great snorkeling right off the shore. The staff were exceptional: warm, welcoming, and always going the extra mile to make us feel at home. Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Good resort

The resort, room, room service, pools and beach were excellent! The food wasn’t good. Mostly the same, only available fruits were Mangos the rest were from cans. No seafood other than oysters and clams. By the second day, I didn’t want to eat at all. Mostly I ate French fries and bread with cheese.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Amazing staff and beautiful resort

I went in June and the resort and staff were lovely......BUT I would never again go on the off season, the Mossys at night would carry you away and they opened the resort up to local Cubans to book to stay. I have never seen so many disrespectful people iny life, right from the amount of food they waisted to the complete ignorance they had for other people on the resort. I would go back but only during tourist season.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Nice resort but food and drink shortages

Is a nice, well-kept resort but there are major food and drink shortages, including toilet paper. Our neighbours were at this resort for 2 weeks in Feb 2025 and they raved about it - no shortages. But when we were there last week, they were running out of everything. One day they wouldn’t have fries or burgers at the snack bar, the next no coffee after dinner at the buffet. The restaurants were not worth going to - no soy sauce at the Asian one. The mosquitoes were brutal - could not sit [... read more] outside early in the day or after dinner. You had to make a run for your room. They did start spraying with a crop duster mid week which helped a little. We will not be returning to Cuba.

Grand Memories Holguin: Good Memories .

Cuba is always rewarding trip for me...starting with affordability,safety is very important too ! This resort is modern , clean, convenient . Spacious rooms with nice views . Food in Cuba was never an issue for me and this time was very good too. Unfortunately I am not planning to come back because very shockingly I didn't like the beach!

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: The most beautiful beaches

The ranking of this resort is not considered to be a 4-5 star resort because it has been scaled back to appease the local tourism community. The first two days starting Saturday June 14-2025 were absolutely despicable. We had to Que to just get into the dining room, waiting for more than an hour each time and then once inside the dining room we had to wait in long slow lines and literally fight over scraps of food because the locals would have taken everything. By the second day this was still  [... read more]continuing and we were furious about the behavior of most of the people who were ignorantly taking advantage of the food availability and had zero consideration for anyone else except themselves.Taken into account that it was the last week this resort was open (closing until November apparently)and Father’s Day weekend. Added to the list was the lack of mosquito control. Everyone was getting eaten alive. Only after the weekend did they start to fog the property for mosquito control. The whole experience was just too much for us and we were tempted to leave the resort and transfer to another location. Now we always come prepared and we had brought a lot of food with us so we didn’t go hungry. Two days later the crowds had left the resort and the resort population had dropped significantly. By Tuesday we were able to move freely into the dining room and obtain food not scavenged by everyone else . This is the third time to this resort in three years and it was not acceptable the behavior of the locals. No enforcement was done in order to prevent the problem. Complaints were never made because we tried our utmost effort to refrain from actually contacting air Canada ??. Now we know many of the staff who are working there and they had all been extraordinary helpful and kind to us. Specially many of the kitchen staff, and the bar staff . Hayler , Toni , Elvis and the other bar staff were absolutely amazing and they went out of their way to make sure we were good. The front desk staff were very helpful especially upon arrival and they switched our room to an oceanview so we were very happy with that. We love the location of this resort because it has the best view and beaches anywhere in the world. While most of the locals were at the pool we had the beach mostly to ourselves and THIS is why we tolerated the poor behavior of the locals at all mealtimes the first three days. I would have given it a 5star rating but the first two days were not handled professionally. I can tell you that most foreigners like us would have not accepted the same treatment and would have left the resort on the first day. We have a lot of experience in Cuba so we toughed it out and we are glad we did. Big recommendation for our Agent Saskia Singh who has been our agent for many years now . Starfish Cayo Coco is one of our favorite places to go and I hope it will improve the next time we visit!!

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Beautiful resort

Newer hotel. Wonderful staff. The world’s best beaches. The food is mid but that’s to be expected at a Cuba resort. Special shout out to Kenny at the beach bar. Great service Kenny! Pro tip, the pizza is only available at lunch at 12:30 and runs out fast. Get there early. Also recommendation to Grand Aston, since the demand for pizza is very high, you should do what you can to increase the number of pizzas and length of time,

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Beautiful Resort

This Resort is top notch! It is grand the moment the bus turns onto the main entrance. Everything is clean, white tile everywhere, beautiful gardens and fountains. First class all the way. Staff contently cleaning, swiping, doing the gardens and pools and washrooms are spotless. Dining and Resturants are almost, overly staffed for continuous service and smiling the whole time to make you comfortable and satisfied. Bars..which were several..even on the beach made your stay very comfortable. Only hiccup I had..was the beach. Lots of sand where they could put it...but too rocky to enter and swim in the ocean. But you had several pools to enjoy the refreshing dip! Lots of entertainment, singers, dancers, different Every nite. Sunsets on the Caribbean every nite was picture perfect. We had absolutely NO problems to complain about. Loved it and the Cuban people.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Had a great stay!

We had a great time here. There's 7 of us in total (5 adults, 2 kids). We travelled in the middle of June so there weren't many people at the hotel. The beach is amazing and it is very close to the hotel (100m from our room). I found the food was better than my past visits to Cuba. There was always something I liked. My parents are vegetarian and they always found something to eat. There was a lot of Cuban food (rice, beans, chickpeas, a lot of sweet potato). I also really liked the fried rice s [... read more]tation and the omlettes and crepe station in the mornings. There was a lot of choice in drinks. Mojitos were amazing as was the pina colada. Entertainment was really good even though there wasn't much, especially the Michael Jackson performance. It was truly as if Michael Jackson had come back from the dead and performed for us. Remember to bring an insulated cup with you, and also bring mosquito repellent especially if you're travelling during the rainy season. Also, reach out to Not Just Tourists to take medical supplies with you (you can book a private transfer on the way back to the airport so you can drop off the supplies at a clinic in Remedios or Santa Clara). We also gave them a suitcase of other things at the clinic (an old laptop, band aids, flash lights, baby clothes, a lot of stationary I wasn't using at home etc.). It's important that we all do our part to help. Try to give help to Cubans outside of the hotels in the cities if you can.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Highly recommend

Coral Esmeralda is a quiet adult resort that we enjoyed so much. Our first time to Cuba and we were a bit hesitant given talk of shortages etc. This resort was clean, well-stocked with very good food, drinks (lots of alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices), necessities like tp, soap, clean bath and beach towels. We loved having cappuccinos on the breezy lobby. Well appointed, lovely grounds, excellent service, great entertainment, reliable wifi everywhere except the beach. Beach was beautiful but w [... read more]hen we were there it was very windy and lots of seaweed churned onto the shoreline by the waves. There didn’t seem to be a system for cleaning it up 100%. Coral clients have access to the larger sister resort right beside (Iberostar Selection) which has very nice pools. Coral has a 24 hour snack bar for food and drinks. Highly recommend this resort!!

Blau Varadero: Blau Varadero is the top hotel

Since January 2025 the hotel improved in terms of hospitality and vaiety of food. It's major improvement and the staff is the reason we always come back to Blau Varadero. It's the staff, it is the entertainment and the quality of food.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Good for Cuban standards

Rooms are fine, hotel in general is fine (Cuban standards). Staff are mostly friendly although customer service isn't great. Food is OK, again compared to other Cuba resorts. Pools are limited to a few, and beach was ok, wasn't the best of Cuba.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Girls trip 2025

Spent a week at this beautiful resort at the end of May with 5 great friends. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming! Had a gorgeous view of the pool and ocean from my 2nd floor balcony. The room was comfortable and I was impressed with the water pressure & temperature in the shower. The resort is very clean. My maid was so sweet. She had my room cleaned every morning by 9am and always left swans or hearts with towels & flowers on my bed. Lots of fresh bread, butter, eggs every day, good breakfast sausages, yogurt, soups, salads, chicken and fish, hamburgers, french fries, papaya, mangos, rice, pickles, tomatoes, red beets, etc. The buffet had cooking stations for omelets, grilled fish & chicken, etc. The bars always had beer, gin & tonic, rum & cola, pina coladas, mimosas, mojitos. There are several stairs down to the beach but it was worth every step. Fluffy white sand and the ocean was crystal clear with so many shades of blue. There was a bar/restaurant and washrooms on the beach. It's not buffet style, they take your order and serve you. The views from the resort are amazing! We took some beautiful sunset photos of our group! Went on a horse & buggy ride to Guardalavaca. Our guide gave us lots of great information and pointed out things along the way. We stopped at a market with lots of vendors and a place to purchase beverages. There were also vendors set up in the lobby area almost every day at the resort. Shows in the lobby from 9-10 every night. We especially enjoyed retro night on Wednesday. We planned ahead and dressed up for the night. Had fun on the dance floor. The resort was very quiet with low occupancy when we were there so not much going on activity-wise. May be different in high season.

Starfish Varadero: Great for the Price

We booked this resort last minute as we needed the beach and this did not disappoint. The grounds are beautiful and mature. We stayed in a bungalow and loved the location close to the beach. As it was a low occupancy week (thus the price) the chairs at the pool and on the beach were plentiful. I think we had the best stretch of beach compared to surrounding resorts. As this was Cuba there were limited selections at the buffet, often no ice at the bar and basically only rum most times. There was  [... read more]one buffet and a snack bar at the pool. We went to the other 'quiet' pool which was empty and had it to ourselves when we needed a beach break. Staff were fantastic and made the vacation.

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Great resort i am being still going after 10 year!

The hotel staff is great as per the food. The hotel is a bit old but the emplacement is just amazing. The beach is just amazing, probably the best beach of all Cuba with amazing color... Can't wait till I go back!

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Torn

I've been to Playa Alameda many times. The staff as usual are wonderful. Unfortunately, through no fault of their own, the economy in the aftermath of COVID and the relentless suffocation from America has left them with very little to work with with. It is still labelled a 4.5 star but in all honesty, it runs like a 3.5 star: the bedding was never changed, the towels changed periodically, the room filled with mosquitoes, the toilet paper frequently missing, no sugar sometimes, no butter so [... read more]metimes, broken coffee machine sometimes, etc., etc. A person who had never been to this resort probably wouldn't return. Those loyal to the resort and people like myself might also think twice. It's better to label it 3.5 so that people know what to expect and they can accommodate.
