Platinum Yucatan Princess: Amazing Resort

Great resort, friendly staff and a great variety of food. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Pools and grounds were clean and well maintained but the beach has an issue with seaweed but nothing that the breathtaking view doesn't help you forget about. Rooms were very modern and well kept, prices in the hotel shops were reasonable.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Fun vacation

Very nice hotel, lots to see and do. Give it 3 stars as the buffet restaurants were not the cleanest. Lots of dishes and utensils had old food stuck to it. Night time shows and entertainment were very fun and well designed.

Catalonia Yucatan: Great Resort

Lovely resort - very clean and gardens well maintained. The food was fantastic, especially the Japanese. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. The beach is rather rocky, but excellent snorkeling right off the shore.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Great family resort!

The resort caters to families in all ways. The kids club was fantastic and the staff is very attentive. There are plenty of highchairs in every restaurant and lots of stroller parking. The grounds are beautiful and the meandering pool is great for those seeking a quieter area to relax away from the beachfront. The food is excellent - our favorite was Arezzo.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing Luxury Gran Bahia Akumal - Don Pablo

As always, we use Tripcentral for all our travelling needs and once again, they were awesome! Thank you Yasmin Sousa, your dedication to your clientelle is to be applauded. The Akumal Don Pablo was amazing. We have travelled to this particular resort 3 times before it became Don Pablo and it was perfect from the time we arrived and until the time we left. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Steal money

Everything was good,from our room cleaner guy has stolen 300 dollars! SURPRISE! We had good service,good food,but we were disappointed that somebody from service guys is a thief! unfortunately we forgot to use safe box.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great Vacation

Another great vacation! My boyfriend and I come to Mexico every year. And this year we stayed at the Blue Bay Grande Esmeralda. The resort is very clean, with friendly people, the food is great, and the spa is amazing and relaxing. Antonio the head concierge of the hotel made my birthday special, sent chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of tequila to our room. He also ordered me a birthday cake at the French restaurant. If you are looking for a place to relax, this is the resort for you.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great, quality resort - amazing food!!!

Would definitely go back to this resort on a repeat trip to the Mayan Riviera... and the extra few hundred bucks (for a family of 4) was well worth it! The location right on the (best part of the) beach, the quality of the food/bar service were far superior to the other resorts (Tulum and Coba) we visited in the complex and the fact that while the resort was fully booked, it always felt empty! (due to the exclusivity of the beach/resort). And of all the all-inclusive resorts we've visited in the [... read more] Caribbean (Cuba, D.R., even the Sandals in Antigua), the food was by far the best! The a la cartes were top notch, but the buffet at this resort was even more impressive! The only minor negatives are the room sizes (for quad occupancy) are a bit underwhelming and the beds are barely doubles... also, beware of high expectations for the beach if you value the long stretches of white sand, clear water, big surf you might find in Cuba, D.R. or Jamaica... there are small pockets/coves of relatively nice beach in this part of Mexico, but much of the coast is rockier due to a reef. The trade-off is you can do some snorkeling right off the resort and see a ton of tropical fish...

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Avoid at all costs - esp for groups/weddings!

Where to start... We were a group of 27 people attending a destination wedding. Our Ages ranged from 25-84. We booked between December and January for the beginning of May, and we submitted our booking information to the wedding planner well in advance, on the premise that we would all be placed "close" (in the same or adjoining villas, close to the beach). As soon as we got there, the problems started: - No one seemed to know what was going on with our reservations. - There was apparently no t [... read more]race of a 'group' arriving (but upon insisting, in Spanish only, that they search their records, the reservations were found, of course). - Our rooms were as far away from the beach as possible. - Not only were the group members NOT close together, but we were dispersed haphazardly throughout the hotel complex. - We requested a ground floor room for the 84-year-old grandmother who barely walks; we were told that she was on the 2nd floor and that the hotel was 'fully booked'; after 30 minutes of arguing and insisting (again, only in Spanish) a room miraculously appeared on a ground floor. - My in-laws checked into their room and went to dinner, only to find a stranger walking OUT of their room upon their return. The stranger was frustrated because that was apparently the THIRD occupied room that she had been given in the last 3 hours. At least we weren't the only ones having a bad time of it... - The instructions for a la carte reservations were unclear, resulting in our group being unable to get space for a dinner together other than the wedding dinner. The beach It was more of a glorified salt-water wading pool. It's a fake beach that's protected from erosion by giant sand banks covered by tarps and anchored to the sea floor. If you look on Google Maps, you can see them just off the coast. In person, they look like giant semi-submerged whale carcasses in various stages of decomposition (some are new and therefore the tarp is black; some are older and covered with puke-brown seaweed and polyps). The sea-pool is so shallow that I hit my feet against the sand when I tried to swim in the deepest portions. And to add insult to injury, the sea bloomed while we were there, producing an algae cover over this shallow water that looked like an undulating puke-brown carpet. The hotel's solution to this (annual) occurrence: have 3 guys manually raking up masses of seaweed into standard-sized garbage bags. No trucks. No mechanical raking. Moist, rotting seaweed piling up on the shore. Sand fleas galore! And if you think that the Akumal side might be better because the hotel's more expensive... think again! We walked 1-2 km in both directions from the main Tulum beach, and the picture's the same: small fake beaches, dead whale carcasses as barriers and shallow wading pools of water. The wedding I can't comment much because I wasn't heavily involved in the organization, but I CAN say that between December and May the wedding coordinator was changed SIX TIMES! Naturally, no communication seems to have been made between all of these different coordinators, so every new person had to be re-briefed by the wedding couple. I do NOT recommend this hotel to ANYONE who: - wants to come to Riviera Maya for the beach - doesn't have a relatively respectable level of Spanish (for arguing) - doesn't want to spend 2-3 mornings at reception arguing - is traveling with a group - has made special requests (that they expect to be fulfilled) - is holding a wedding/celebration/event of any kind If this was a hostel in Amsterdam or Thailand, I'd say the experience was great! because I would have got what we paid for. However, at $1500 per person X 27 = $40 500 for the group, and in a 4-5 star hotel, this experience was a disgrace!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Clean, modern resort

My Fiance and I travelled to this resort April 28th to May 5th 2015. Flew with Sunwing. Arrived at the resort around 2:30pm. Check-in was very fast and easy. Got our ocean view room right away. Room 6217. Very clean, and spacious. Open concept very romantic. I'm going to make this simple. ROOM: 9/10 - Clean, great layout. Could have used a more luxurious turn down service. IE light aromatherapy candles, run a bath etc. (Had that experience at another hotel) The beds are extremely clean and sup [... read more]er comfotable. FOOD: 10/10 - BEST FOOD I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE. Aracharra Tacos from Agave were amazing. Steak from Hunter's was phenomenal. Armidillo's was to die for. LOCATION: 7/10 - People say it took 15-20 mins to go down the road to the hotel. Not true, maybe 5. There is nothing surrounding the resort so if you don't mind not leaving, it's perfect for you. We stayed on the ocean view side but some people on the marsh side said there was a slight smell on the balcony and lot's of bugs. Did not experience any of that. A little loud on the main pool side in the evening but that's to be expected when they do shows. BEACH: 7/10 - Seaweed wasn't horrible, sand was beautiful, ocean stunning. SERVICE: 9/10 - Everyone was so nice, saying "my pleasure" after every "thank you". Did not encounter one rude person. I gave a 9 instead of a 10 for accomodation reasons. I couple we travelled with had a 11 month old and she went to sleep super early and it was Dad's Birthday. Mom wanted to surprise him with steak. Hunter would not allow her to come pick up and take out any steak. They said they were too busy. Which was not true, we ate there with out any wait and there were tables open. HOTEL: 9/10 - Set up was great, not too big not too small. Amazing coffee house and icecream bar. Buffet is huge as it should be because when it gets busy, it is packed. Resteraunts were to die for. WIFI through out entire hotel even on the beach is an amazing plus! Over all this resort is wonderful and I really enjoyed my stay. The resort is brand new and just settling so there are some quirks. Nothing that seriously effected my stay. Give it a shot! You won't regret it.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great Hotel

Overall Hotel was great. Amazing food, service, and rooms. The grounds were immaculate and there were always friendly staff cleaning public areas. The only negative areas are the beach. This is in really bad condition. It is man made and the sandbags used for fill were showing. Lots of seaweed. I am a beach person and saying this I did not sit on the beach at all. The pool was located on directly beside the beach. It was amazing and I did not miss the beach at all!! All amenities were at the poo [... read more]l and you still had the wonderful ocean breeze. Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Best resort ever!

We had the best all inclusive trip to Mayan riviera Grand Sirenes ever! We were there April 19 to April 27, the weather was sunny every day, the buffet was fabulous and the grounds were impeccable. We also enjoyed at day at the spa, and the dolphin show right in the resort. The ice cream bar and lazy river were also a highlight. The concierge was always friendly and very helpful. We would definitely return!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Lives up to Bahia past experiences

The only issue I had was that the beach was not as nice as other Bahia resorts I have stayed at. There was way too much seaweed. The shoreline of the beach was really short and the water was not crystal clear and very rough waters, There was a red flag posted for the whole week we were there. We made the best of it but I don't know if I would return to the Bahia in Mexico again. The resort was too far from the airport as well.

Riu Palace Mexico: amazing place

this was by far the most amazing trip we have taken the resort, service and staff the food and the day trips, the beach and shopping all excellent, My wife and I are already counting down the days when we return for next years vacation.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Not so amazing resort

We felt the property was beautiful, the food was great. We did not get great service (with the exception of one server), our room had a noisy fan and a poor quality air conditioner - we complained twice and never got satisfaction

Grand Riviera Princess: Very Nice Resort

My wife and I visited the Grand Riviera Princess on April 22, 2015. We were very happy with our stay. The service was excellent.. from the front desk staff to the room service waiter, we were treated very well. We stayed on the Riviera side of the resort, in a deluxe suite. The room was fine but a bit tired. The beds were very hard which made for a difficult night sleep. The bathroom had a leaky shower which could pose potential danger if you weren't careful. Water on a marble floor isn't a good [... read more] combination. The resort has several nice pools. A good mix of more lively/party pools and quieter ones if you are just looking to relax. We didn't spend much time at the beach but it was beautiful. The food in the buffet restaurants was great for our tastes. We didn't try any a la cartes as we weren't interested in keeping to any schedule. Other travelers that we met seemed to enjoy the Japanese the most. The beach had a snack bar where you could make a burger or nachos etc. Overall, we had a nice trip. We would go back.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Awesome and Amzing

Hotel accommodations after the renovations were fantastic, the restaurants were all top notch. We ate at all of the a la carte's and were never disappointed. The staff were all very friendly and were eager to please anyone with a request. The sushi bar and 24 hour pool bar were a nice added.touch. Swimming with the sea turtles and stingrays was the icing on the cake for this quiet gem of a resort. The only downfall was the lack of nightly entertainment.

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Great Holiday

Loved everything about this resort. The service was best we have ever had at an all inclusive. It was our 3rd time to Mexico and definitely our favourite resort. First adults only and definetly the way to go. Food: Enjoyed every meal and only ate at buffet about 3 or 4 times as there are so many other options. Room: we upgraded to oceanfront since it was our 25th and had beautiful views and loved sound of ocean at night and morning. We were on 2nd floor. Beach: We are definetly beach people and we had no issues. Water was beautiful once you stepped over some seaweed. Hardly any rocks and yes not a lot of sand but we are there for the water. Drinks: never had to wait for a drink always served beach and poolside promptly. Loved the chocolate martinis at night lobby bar and the mojitos at pool were our favourites .

The grounds were nice, however the service at the buffet was not good. They were always out of everything, and I had to ask 3 different people for a drink before we got them. The room was nice and in a good location, however it was our second room, as the first, had a broken air conditioner and mold in the room. The second smelled musty but overall was not too bad.
