Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Good resort with minor complaints

Beautiful grounds, nice beach although full of seaweeds and windy on the water. We enjoyed a few restaurants while our stay at Valentin. Did not like the birds flying through the main restaurant for breakfast and lunch buffet. Birds even took some food out of my plate while I got up to get something. Enjoyed the french restaurant the most. Enjoyed the evening shows and the various bars which had any kind of drinks you asked for. Negative comments: 1. Too many smokers at outside bar outside lobby [... read more] and by the lazy river pool (which is where we went swimming). 2. Too far to walk to the beach to get shaded area, bathrooms were too far to get to from the beach. 3. Not enough concierge at this somewhat big resort, did not see any concierge other than in the lobby. There were 1 at times and other times there were 2. The jacuzzi did not work in the room we stayed in. Did not tell anyone because it was on our last day that we noticed that it did not work. We had to request face cloths three times during the week, maid did not leave us face cloths each day. Over all I expected more out of this resort, we went to El Dorado Seaside last year and I would definitely recommend El Dorado over Valentin.

Catalonia Yucatan: Fantastic Resort!

It was our first time to Mexico and this resort. The grounds and rooms were immaculate, the food was fantastic, the bartenders at the Tequila Bar were awesome! The bartenders at the Chill Out bar were pouring our drinks when they seen us coming! The drinks kept coming, and thats without a big tip. All of the staff were friendly, especially Esmeralda at the Reception Desk, she was VERY friendly and answered any questions we had without making us feel like we were bothering her. The pools were always nice and clean but the beach wasnt very swimmable (only a minor thing, it was still beautiful!) Only downside I could say there really was, is that you can not buy a bottle of rum or anything from the gift shop to keep in your room to drink. We were provided with a pint size bottle of Tequila in our room (We stayed in Room 7023, Privileged), but that didnt last long. Haha. We had a photo session with a photographer on the resort and he was fantastic, and the pictures we purchased, we were beyond pleased. We had a very relaxing vacation (we stayed from April 26- May 3/2015) which is what we went for. Kudos to the staff for making it a great one! Thank you.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing Snorkling

This is a small resort but it was one of the most relaxing vacations that we have ever had the staff were always there to help and Wilbert from the Lobby Bar was great. You do not have far to go to snorkel which was wonderful we had seen turtles and stingrays and many different fish would return again

Catalonia Yucatan: Awesome resort!

Super clean, staff all amazing,kind and very professional. Rooms were nice and clean. Pools excellent. Food excellent. A la cartes were amazing. Only down side was the beach, too rocky to swim in :( but if you upgrade you have access to the other side of the beach which is beautiful and you can swim. another tip- xcaret excursion was a waste of money- very disappointing will never do it again. The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Could be awesome

Great pools, grounds and food. Nice rooms but maids don't keep them as clean as I like. Toothpaste from previous guest on mirrors, etc. concierge useless. Check-in a disaster. Had drunk people peeing off their balcony, screaming all hours of the night and the only reply we got when we complained was "we don't pre-screen our guest", and they did nothing to resolve the situation that went on for many nights! This is a wild party place and it seems anything goes.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great family resort! Something for everyone

The hotel itself was great! The service was average. Grounds were clean! Food was great! No one got sick! Love all the animals everywhere! Wish room service was included. The Excaret park is a must-see. Definitely recommended getting an unlimited pass. Too much to do there. Need at least three days to see it all!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Outstanding resort !!!

Resort was by far the best I've ever seen or been to. Everything was extremely clean and well looked after, food was great, entertainment was good... Staff were so friendly.. Not a complaint about the place! Amazing!!!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Trouble in paradise

The hotel room was beautiful, it was spacious & had a lovely bathroom. However the first 3 nights neither of us slept well. In further investigation we could see that our bed had been broken & repaired (not well). It was like sleeping with a huge hump in the middle of our back. Our friends staying in another rim had the same issue with their bed. About 4 days in we had a leak in our ceiling in the bathroom. If you needed to use the toilet it would drip on you. We called 4 times & every time they [... read more] said they would be right there, nobody ever showed up. Finally at 11pm my friend who spoke some Spanish called the front desk & someone finally came. It was extremely hot & humid, so when you got dressed up for the ala'carte it was very warm, none of the restraunts seem to be air conditioned. After dinner we would come back to our resort only to find all entertainment was over. We never did see any entertainment in our resort. The pool where all the fun was happening was way way too hot. If you had a sun burn it was actually hard to get into.

Reef Club Playacar Beach: Small frendly resort

Small resort, excellent location 15min walk to 5th avenue, beautiful beach, friendly staff, food good but buffet almost always the same choices, older but a lot of improvements being done. This was our 4th stay, would stay there again

Excellence Riviera Cancun: favourite resort!

This resort was almost perfect! If you could put that pretty water that I have had at resorts in Cuba, at this resort, I don't think I would ever go to any other resort ever again. I know this is not the resorts fault. The resort....wow!!! Everything about it was great, it looked like everyone had a great view and the rooms very nice and well kept. The room was cleaned twice a day with lots of fresh towels and facecloths. The mini bar was also stocked everyday, with different kinds of drinks, in [... read more]cluding pop, juice and beer. There were also snicker bars, m &m's, and oreo's. We did not upgrade and felt we were not missing out on anything! The food was good and there was a large menu you could order off room service , open 24 hrs. Breakfast was good, you could choose the buffet or there were at least two other places to order off a menu. I loved all of the options for lunch, several restaurants opened depending on what you felt like. if you didn't feel like throwing on a cover up or t-shirt, there was a place on the beach to get lunch. For dinner there were no reservations needed which I love! If the restaurant you chose to dine in that evening was busy, they would give you a buzzer and you could wait at one of the fabulous bars while waiting for a few minutes. I think there were 8 restaurants to choose from, all great. There was also a new coffee shop, called Aroma, it was soooo good. Amazing specialty coffees, as good as Starbucks! The beach was great with lots of loungers and never a problem to get one. Nice white powdery sand. Lots of places in shade or sun, depending on what you are feeling. The beach service, fantastic, hardly finished one drink and someone there asking if ready for another! The pools were the best I have seen. There were lots of floaties to grab and laze around the lazy river, very relaxing. There were also several chairs around the pools, sun and shade. There was also an amazing spa, the building was gorgeous. I did not do the spa experience, but everyone that did says it was great. You could grab a floatie and float around it, the soft music and the smell coming from it, was so relaxing in itself. I will go back to this resort some day and plan on doing one of the spa treatments. There were so many good things about this resort, one being no beach chair reserving, loved, loved it! You could go to the beach at 10 and there would still be lots of chairs, and the beach towels....never a shortage! I loved the entertainment here. There was always something going on. Music at pool everyday and the beach being so close you could hear it, really liked this aspect of this resort. There was always music at the little plaza - pre dinner everyday, really enjoyed this and then more action at theatre at 9 or so, everything quite entertaining, would have to say Michael Jackson show was my favourite. I could go on and on about this resort. We have been to a few over the years and always have gone a 4 or 5 star, but this was far the best, I cant wait to return here.

Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort and Spa: Fabulous resort!

The only thing that lacked was the beach due to seaweed,algae,etc. The room was beautiful,cool and very clean.The restaurants were all amazing and presentation of food impressive.The gym was state-of-the-art with top notch equipment.Service on the resort was outstanding.Pools lovely with choices of privacy or fun.Entertainment is nice.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Wonderful resort!!!

This resort has exceed our expectations. It truly deserves to be rated with 5 stars. Awesome amenities and room service. Wifi available all over the resort including the rooms. Great beach area with amazing coral reef, perfect for snorkelers. Staff is very friendly and willing to do anything to make you comfortable. Excellent food choices in all dining areas. rooms are large and comfortable.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Amazing!

Everything was beautiful...very boutique atmosphere..LOVED it. Everything was perfect and exactly what we expect form a 5 plus star resort. The rooms were comfy and clean, the food was simply to die for...we have been unable to match the food anywhere else! GO!

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Very nice resort

Very nice accommodations and a very nice resort. The rooms were spectacular, and the service was good. In my opinion the food was average, as I have stayed in the area before and had better food. The service was good. The beach area was average, as the water going into the ocean was very murky and not clear at all. Not good for swimming. If you have a need to go into the ocean, I would not recommend this resort.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Very Nice Resort at a good price!

The hotel was great. The room spacious and very nicely decorated. We had the 4th floor of section 7 facing the garden. It was very quiet and conveniently located next to the small quiet pool. The beach was disappointing but we heard that from previous reviews so it wasn't a surprise. There were lots of chairs on the beach though so that made up for it. one other thing that I didn't really like was that the pools closed at 7PM. They said that they closed at 7 to clean the pools but I never once saw anyone cleaning the pools other than in the morning. The entertainment at night was average. Nothing really blew us away. The could work on that part of the experience. On a couple nights we left because it wasn't very good. The food was good. We could always find something good to eat. Maybe more cooked vegetables. There were a lot of proteins but not many veggies to choose from. The restaurants were good and we always managed to get a reservation. The french was our favorite. we weren't bothered by the timeshare people like some reviewers. We were told how to deal with them just in case but it wasn't needed. Prices in the gift shops weren't much different than the prices when we went to 5th avenue shopping. If I had my time back I wouldn't have gone. there were too many people picking at us to go into their stores. It really turned us off. Maybe try somewhere less touristy. Overall, I would highly recommend this resort to anyone that is interested in going for a relaxing vacation.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Fantastic resort

This hotel was very clean, well kept and the staff were amazing. I did find the beach was what I expected but still well kept and clean. Would definately go back. The rooms were so clean and were cleaned every day. The food was awesome and always had something different to pick from.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Nice clean, modern resort.

The resort was clean, buildings were modern, and all amenities in our room worked great. Air conditioning was good, shower worked well with lots of hot water. The pools were great, although often difficult to find a chair as there was high occupancy during our week stay. Negative point was its not beach front, which we knew, but the next resort is no longer part of the same company, so no access through this property to the beach as was available during a previous visit here. Grand Palladium Riviera Resort And Spa: Beautiful resort!

We loved our stay! We were a party of nine - including 5 adults, two kids, and two babies. Great food, great service. Friendly staff. The hotel and grounds were clean and well maintained. No complaints!

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Absolutley a fantastic vacations

This resort was extremely relaxing. The restaurants were fantastic and I really enjoyed not having to make reservations. The bars and bartenders all made great drinks. The only negative was the beach and just the amount of sea weed.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Great t resort!

Great resort overall! Entertainement amazing, something for everybody, staff amazing, grounds kept clean. Adult beach area great, always found a chair to relax.Beach area amazing but lofs of seaweed, maybe due to last hurricane. Food is o.k. the usual resort food. This resort is big, but is a lot of fun a and not a boring minute. We stayed in a beachfront room. For all of you that are wondering, yes, the TV has an UBS port and that was great. We just used a memory stick to watch movies from home. We stayed from April 6-16 and had a great time!
