Muthu Playa Varadero: nice and friendly resort

I am no complaints for the price that I pay , The staffs is very nice. The beach is with very white sand and clear water. The room is clean. The food and the fruits very fresh. overall I like this place. and will go again.

Hotel Acuazul: Great home away from home!

The property is a small budget hotel but it offers all you need to enjoy Varadero. We are just back from a wonderful 2 week stay, probably our 14th trip to Cuba. After doing the large resorts the first few times we discovered the acuazul and have stayed there ever since. The location is excellent and thanks to Claudio and his staff we have been treated as family.

Palma Real: Relax and have fun

Hotel is a bit dated but you can see they are upgrading [we have been here a few times before] it is diffenitely a step up.Service was good;room was clean;restaurant was buffet;you have to remember it is only a three star and the price was very reasonable what we paid.

Grand Memories Varadero: Amazing Resort

We have been 4 times at RIU Hotel in Varadero and we really like to go back. Ther food is good, the weather fantastic and the food is fine. For children is great as there are lots of activities during the day. I would strongly recommended this hotel, although lately they changed the name to Grant Memories.

Club Kawama: Just Okay

The hotel was not good. Our room was leaking, was infested with mosquitoes and very old. Each day the maid would fold the wet towels. The grounds were better. The pool was nice but often very dirty and the service wasn't the greatest.

Melia Marina Varadero: More a hotel than a resort

Melia Marina Varadero is a lovely place and perhaps Cuba's first genuine 5 star facility. It is however not really a resort. Yes it is all inclusive and has a pool and a beautiful beach, the latter with lots of shade options and always beach chairs available but it lacks the guest friendliness one will find at other Cuban resorts. Activities may happen or may not. If they do, staff participation is minimal and often staff show little interest; just going through the motions. Wait staff is effici [... read more]ent most of the time. With the exception of the pool side restaurant the food is outstanding. Don't expect to be served at the swim up bar; it won't happen. You have to get out of the water and walk to the other side to order your drink. While there are lots of shade options at the beach the same cannot be said for the pool area. If you go, consider upgrading to "the Level" it is definitely worth the extra cost.

Grand Memories Varadero: Disappointing for a five star.

Every meal was a poor selection of food, the food was cold, ie potatoes, French fries, the chicken tasted like rubber and the pork was served pink. One day there were not clean plates for lunch. We had one order of fries in the snack bar that were hot, items offered on the menu were not available, ie chicken wraps and pizza. There was a lot of cups, straws and cigarettes left on the ground. Our experience has been pleasant staff, but only two workers were pleasant. The staff appeared very solemn and frustrated. Our room was well kept, except for one day, we returned around 4:30 pm and our room was not refreshed. This experience should be rated at 2-3. We were at this resort three years ago and had a wonderful experience. We told the person upon our check-out how disappointed we were and he did not even respond. We spoke with lots of people at the resort and everyone had the same disappointments and frustrations as us. Several pieces of the pool guards were missing, indeed a safety issue and there was a fair amount of sand in the pools.

Be Live Turquesa: Amazing vacation!

Very nice quiet resort. Not a party resort more older couples. Not many kids but weekends they rent rooms to the locals and cuban study week we were invaded by very many young cubans. I would recommend going but not on their study break!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: OK stay

The resort is beautiful and well laid out. The resort employees are friendly and helpful, especially Mayte, Freddy and Regla. There were tons of flies in the food and dining area in the buffet restaurant which was very off-putting, this was my 10th time to Cuba and I had not experienced that at other resorts. The pool area ha [... read more]d lots of loungers and was very clean. The beach was ok but not as nice as the stretch in front of Sandals Royal Hicacos, Melia Las Antillas and Iberostar Tainos. I thought the entertainment was varied and good and the Main Square was a great venue for it .

Melia Las Antillas: Lovely Resort

We arrived at the resort on Friday, April 3, 2015. Check in was smooth and seamless. As expected our room was not ready until 3 pm. We had made a special request for a particular area of the resort which was accommodated. Overall this is a really nice resort. The grounds, vegetation and on-site lagoon were beautiful. This is an older resort and it is evident it is in need of some repairs and updating. The resort, and our room, were clean and tidy. Everything functioned well and we had no proble [... read more]ms. Note, as you know Cuba is on 220v, most other resorts we have been to have at least one plug at 110v, this resort has none so bring your adapters (more than 1 if you have them). This is an excellent resort for someone who wants to have a quiet holiday. With only 350 rooms it never felt crowded, everything is within a short walk. The beach is spectacular and there are plenty of palapas although you still need to arrive earlier rather than later. Overall we found the staff to be friendly and attentive, as is usual in Cuba :) The food: no surprises. Lots of selection in the buffet. If you are a picky eater you may have some difficulties but there is always pasta and eggs. There are only 2 a la carts here and we only went to the Italian on our final night. The food was very good and the wine was reasonably priced (if you are a wine drinker, you will be disappointed in the house wines - red, white & rose). This is definitely a resort that we would go back to.

Club Kawama: Old and run down

I didn't have high hopes when we booked our trip to Club Kawama knowing it was listed as a 3 star resort but even my low expectations were not met. We travelled with 2 children under 2 (5 mths and 19 mths) which can be "challenging" at the best of times. Our "upgraded" room was very run down and old. The tub/shower was very beat up and dirty and the toilet seat was in desperate need of replacement as was the bathroom sink and counter. The buffet was awful and there was always garbage (cups) arou [... read more]nd the pools and on the beach. The maids were sitting on our patio smoking and drinking during their lunch break - which made us feel very awkward and uncomfortable (although looking back this may just be a cultural difference). Our room was filled with cigarette smoke from them leaving our room open one day during their break which isn't appreciated when we have young children. I didn't find the staff friendly or helpful and was made to feel like an annoyance anytime I did need service. Now for the good: our room was right on the beach and the water is beautiful. There were lots of trees and the A/C in our room worked fantastic. The snack bar had really good ham and cheese sandwiches which we lived off of during the daytime. The a la carts on the resort were both very good so we ordered and ate lots and were even allowed to wrap the extras up to take to the room. We had a fridge in our room which was very handy for this purpose. We were close to Varadero so we took frequent trips into town and had an excellent dinner at Don Alex Restaurante as well as across the street at Salsa Suarez Restaurant y Bar (fantastic service, atmosphere & food at both!). The staff did treat our children very well and were always very friendly and helpful with the kids.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Enjoyable stay

Solid hotel, very good value for the price, staff was very attentive and well trained. Beach chairs were all well maintaned or new and also plentiful. We did not have to go early in the morning to reserve a cabana or chairs on the beach, this is almost unheard of in Cuba.

Villa Tortuga: pleasantly surprised

been to cuba 12 times ,different hotels,always expect the worst,this was 2nd best hotel so far and it was only 3 star,maybe they stepping up their game now that the americans coming,had no issues,clean common area washrooms with tp etc..food not too bad ,service not too bad never tipped only at end of trip so yeah would recommend

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great for kids and adults

We had a great time and so did our 2 year old. We stayed across from the main pool which was a perfect distance for our young one. The people were very nice and the food was great. Very relaxing! Great

Hotel Los Cactus: Amazing Beach

In our opinion the beach and ocean are fantastic. The resort is showing its age. Lots of families with small children. Our bed was the worst bed we have ever tried to sleep on. Not 1 good nights sleep. Buffet food is fine.

Playa Caleta: Bellevue Puntarena Playa Caleta

It was good no issues what so ever. I will definitely be going back. We have been there 11 times the staff is friendly.The food is just ok and the hotel old but kept very clean. Best coffee at the coffee bar.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Beautiful Resort

Grounds were always well maintained, rooms were cleaned everyday. Beautiful Towel art a major plus...Staff were extremley friendly and polite. Resort needs a little updating, but it was fine for our stay and the price we paid. Food typically Cuban.. so not great, but not bad either. Beach was a major plus. The beach location was one of the best i've been too. It was to die for!!. Ocean was beautiful too. All in all it was a great vacation.

Hotel Bella Costa: Had a fantastic time!!!

Breezes Bella Costa in Varadero Cuba is a fabulous resort. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The rooms were clean despite the fact that it may need a facelift in the near future. Grounds and the beach was wonderful. The staff are amazing. We will definitely go back. Had a great time.

Villa Tortuga: Good resort

The facility is a bit old but kept well and clean, nice beach area, the food is abundant and okay if you are not picky eater, great place for doing nothing and relax, located at end of the street,you can walk to some flea market.
