I was looking for this resort couple years to book./ The price sometime high for my budget/. It always was good feedback, and people satisfaction.
Then we come on Dec. 3.2018 and get negative feeling. It is excellent room, even far from beach, but we do not mind with husband to walk or drive.
Good buffet, food, entertainment. Nice ocean, and sand.
Just the location of new beach is terrible. As someone tell me, it was changed just on Dec 1. 2018, then we was unlucky.
All family with chil[... read more]dren, elderly, who has regular booked trip, was directed on the new beach, that located quite far on the Right side, from central area.
There was noisy contraction, just sand, with many umbrellas, but any trees, palms. Two days was windy, and sand was in the air, you not able to stay there. Also security not allow regular customers to cross area on the middle of resort to exit to the beach. Only for Royal Service. And staff was quite rude, when I ask one time to go through , for some urgent matter .
I feel offensive , because main beach, that include 2 big part with many schezlongs, was empty on the 75%. But it was no place for other people.
We share out feelings with other tourist from England, Russia, USA. Some of them already was in Sandos before, and come second, third time. But tell: will not come again. I am not like new rules, and service changed. Not advice to go there, at least you can afford Royal service for self.
There is a lot of nearby Resorts, that not divide customers such in 2 very visible, different groups.
Management has to warning customers, that it is changed in location of beach. Then, if I buy vacation with warning I will have no issue.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Still Amazing
Fifth trip to this lovely resort during first week of November (BD & Myacoba Open), from when you first drive into the breathtaking grounds, the friendly greeting upon entering the resort, the staff, the service, the rooms all continue to leave us more impressed every year.
Looking forward to see everyone again next year.
Hotel was clean, food was really good, service was best I have ever had. Although some of the wait staff were a bit standoffish and rude in the Japanese a la carte, the overall experience of the hotel was amazing. The beach was great too and the staff knowledgeable on tours. Rooms were very clean and maid staff were attentive, check in and out was seamless as well.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Nice resort but over booking is a problem
We booked Dec 6 - 13 but when we arrived they had no room available so we were sent down to the Ocean Paradise for two days.
Ocean C&T: Room was good, lots of palapas on the beach but the ocean was not nice due to a seaweed issue. Grounds well kept. Food OK, found two of the a la cares way too noisy for a pleasant dining experience. Nice pools. Wouldn't return.

Tukan Hotel Playa Del Carmen: Average Hotel on 5th
This is an older hotel in the middle of the busy 5th Avenue area. It is close to all of the tourist shopping and restaurants. We took the room with breakfast included and the breakfast was located across the road at their buffet facility. We did not have a fridge so I did miss that but the rooms were comfortable. Our housekeeper Amira was great...they should give her a raise. The pool is small with a few loungers around but you can see that in the pics online. The Sunwing rep is across the stree[... read more]t at the Aspira Hotel. You will have to walk quite a while to get to some of the tour buses. The location is such that only tour vans can make it here. If you like to spend your vacation on the resort then I would upgrade to a nicer place but if you are out a lot doing things then this is ok. I requested extra pillows 3 times and got lucky on the 3rd try. The room A/C worked great and there was a safe in the room. Showers had hot water and we did have a small balcony.

Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta: Fantastic Experience!
Beautiful setting, lovely resort, relaxing, entertaining, fun, great food and service.. well worth the trip and money! Remember your covering and shirt after sunning and swimming. A towel draped around the neck or around the waist do not count - and not necessary as the towels are given and returned in the pool area. The lobby, elevator, restaurants and all non-pool/beach areas require decent dress for everyone. I appreciate the class and opportunity to dress nice for dinner and events.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Not 5 Star rooms or service
Poor start, left waiting at Cancun airport by Sunwing for nearly 2 hours before transportation to resort arrived
Requested two beds, as I was travelling with adult daughter, told two bed room not available, had I known that, I would never had booked the resort.
Second day transferred to handicap accessible room with two beds, room very basic, shower and toilet not comfortable, door rotting leaving rot on shower floor.
Food was good, nothing exceptional though
Beach and pools were good, not c[... read more]rowded
Service was fine, room/maid service missed one day
Not a 5 Star experience as advertised, but managed to have an enjoyable time
Would not return unless they could guarantee requested room in requested section of resort

Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Decent Hotel
Great small hotel. Beds are good. Food is good. Volleyball is good. The beach is for walking, not swimming. Our housekeeper gave us an extra 2 waters (4 total), go across the street to the OXO if you need more than that. Coffee it's sub-standard, but there's a Starbucks 7 minute walk out the front door. Overall... good place.

Riu Emerald Bay: It's going down inside but outside is awesome!!
My 2nd visit, unfortunately the hotel did not live up to my expectations. Upon arrival to our room I knew the a/c wasn't working so we got changed and headed down to notify Sunwing rep - he said he'd get maintenance on it while we went to dinner. We returned after dinner to a still very warm room so went back to the lobby to see reps were gone for the day so notified the front desk, asked to be moved and was told they have no rooms and said they were busy but would send someone up as soon as the[... read more]y could. When repairman showed up, he couldn't get it to turn on either but eventually by some grace from the heaven's it came on very faintly and he even said "work pocita" That night and every night we slept with the patio door open as our room was hotter than it was outside (we were gone all day with a/c "on" and patio door closed) During our 7 night stay I think the a/c turned on twice for 45 seconds each time. Wi-Fi is limited to 2 devices regardless how many people you have in your room (I was with my 2 children, both with phones) An extremely frustrating week to have to rotate usage during our down time.
One night we were woken up at midnight by neighbour playing very loud music with company on their patio - remember, we're forced to sleep with our patio door open. I called down to the front desk as I'd met her the night before same thing and she didn't speak English. 10 minutes later, still nothing so called again and was told security said there was no party. I demanded he come up to my room immediately as I wasn't going to tolerate this. Sure enough, standing in the hallway waiting for security, one could hear the music from my neighbours. Security came in, very little English but went out to our balcony, stood on chair and hollered over at our neighbours. He promised me no more noise. A couple nights later, we're on our balcony and return to find our room a wading pool. I immediately thought toilet had flooded but soon discovered it was coming from hallway. We were able to get everything up off the floor quick enough but I hate to think of what would've happened had we not been in our room as this was at 6pm. Water completely covered our entire room and was going onto the balcony, we stuck around to allow them to clean it all up (took 3 people and about 40 mins) before going down to dinner. Unfortunately when we came back up, floors were still wet and slippery so had to use our towels to mop up the floors to prevent any of us falling in the middle of the night. I'm pretty sure housekeeping wasn't impressed as I tossed all the sopping towels in our tub and asked for our room to be serviced the next day. They didn't come to refill our fridge that next day either so I had to call down to the front desk, shouldn't have to if they're only refilling every 2 days.
I know there can be elevator issues, there is 2 banks of 3 elevators (1 on each side of hotel plus another that serves lobby to 18) was unfortunate to have 1 elevator down for a few days but overall if you plan accordingly, you can usually avoid long waits.
Being outside our room was the best part of the trip, the staff around the pools, in the bars and the wait staff in the restaurants were always a delight and a pleasure to deal with. Geraldo "Jerry" was very personable and a lot of fun & Pedro (bartender around the pools) was great! I didn't make an issue about the a/c thing as my intention wasn't to spend the week in the room, although it'd have been nice for the room to be a bearable temperature during the night.
I do like the location away from "it all". Be sure to keep that in mind if you want to go walking to see the local sites etc, you'll have to take a bus or taxi to get anywhere. I picked this hotel specifically for this. Locals play their instruments on the beach around dinner time but at night its quiet around the resort and on the beach (aside from the nightclub which I didn't participate in but 1 of my children did)
The food wasn't great, nor was it awful - one morning we were without sausage which I found depressing as I loved my fresh vegetable omelet with sausage for breakfast! I found the bacon inedible. My kids can't eat ice cream - nice to have sorbet as an option, even if only option was lime flavour. By the end of the week we felt it all was tasting the same.
The beach is kept clean, but keep in mind it can be rough waters to swim in, especially for kids. The tides are crazy at times!!
Nightly entertainment wasn't bad but I saw the same shows 1.5 years ago... my kids weren't with me that trip so they enjoyed the shows.
It's extremely unfortunate that a resort of this size doesn't have a proper doctor (or I guess one that doesn't insist on gouging guests) Don't bother asking for hotel doc, make your way to Sharp or Marina hospitals - it'll be WAY cheaper.
Overall - I may or may not stay at the RIU Emerald Bay again, right now it's a no as wasn't overly impressed this trip and would hate to think our room experience could get worse. I'll recommend to others with disclaimer on the issues the hotel itself has.
Everything about this place was awesome. The food, the service, and cleanliness of the resort was top notch. From the minute you are greeted at the front, until the time you leave, you are treated like royalty. We payed a little more for the privilege package, and to us, it was worth it. The fresh flowers, fruit basket, chocolates, champagne, and 4 bottles of assorted liquors was nice. The reserved cabina by the ocean and spot by the pool was great. We like to sleep in, and there was no worries [... read more]about getting a spot. The close access to the bar and bathrooms on the beach is nice. The regular guests had to walk a ways, for both of these. The gardens, pools, water fountains, buildings walkways and scenery was spectacular.
The service from Francisco at the beach, Daniel the manager and Arturo at the Ginger house was excellent. Stephanie and Mauricio at the front welcome desk and concierge services went beyond expectations. With staff like this, this place will always be great.
We really only have 3 complaints about the whole resort, and they are not that bad:
#1 - more live music. The bands at night only play for an hour or two, then a DJ takes over. Expand the band time, reduce the DJ time.
#2 - Mandarin collared, or short collared shirts should be acceptable. The waiters were wearing this type, yet guest cannot.
#3 - Change up the locations of the entertainment. Not always at the same location.
Other things to note. This resort requires collared shirts, long pants and closed shoes for the restaurants. Mandarin or short collars not acceptable. This resort is very spread out. So walking from one side to another takes a little time. This was great for us, because I always eat too much, and this let's me walk it off. There are carts that will take you anywhere you want to go, if you prefer. Almost everyone we talked to, were returned vacationers. This says a lot right there.
Yes, we would definitely come back here again, and would recommend this to any adults seeking sun, fun, relaxation, and romance.

Fiesta Americana Riviera Nayarit: Nice Resort
Nice clean smaller resort with exceptional staff. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable, the patio has a jacuzzi which was fun. Great beach, lots of chairs/loungers. They have a rule about not saving chairs and we found that to be one of the best parts of this resort because you didn't have to wake up and worry whether or not you were going to get a spot on the beach or by the pool if you didn't get up by 6 am and reserve a spot. We were always able to get a spot by the pool or [... read more]beach even if we didn't get down there until 11 or 12 (and there were 6 of us). The infinity pool closest to the beach is the coldest pool that I have ever been in, it is refreshing to say the least.
Another advantage to this resort is that you don't have to wear wrist bands and you don't have to reserve the a la carte restaurants but unfortunately during our stay they were renovating 2 of the 5 a la carte restaurants which was very disappointing because it limited our selection and we didn't get any advance warning that they were closing them. We did however get to go to them because we were there for 9 nights but 5-6 of those nights they were closed, had we known we would have planned some of the dinners differently.
There is not much to do at night and it is not located close to anything that you can really walk to so you have to take a bus or taxi to get to anything in the evening so if you are looking for nightlife you won't find it here. The staff are very friendly and eager to please, I would definitely recommend this resort.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: sab
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and the resort and staff were great. Thanks also to Natalie for doing the booking as she was most helpful and pleasant. would definitely book with her again. A little concerned with the delay at the airport after being up at 3 am to get the 7 am flight and then told it was delayed. but once the problem was rectified we were on our way. Return flight seemed to be on a much smaller plane with no pockets on the back of the seats. for books or glasses.

The Sens Cancun: Family oriented resort
This is a Family oriented resort for sure!
Pros:
- Perfect beach with calm waves, really one of the best Lagoon in Cancun, our kids loved it;
- Perfect pools, our kids loved it;
- Food selection is good, multiple morning buffets, lunch, snack bars, etc, we loved it;
- Multiple restaurants available for the evening "quality dining out". See food and Mexican restaurants at it's best. Highly recommend Shrimp soup and Squid in it's own ink :);
- No lines, no issues, no problems booking "a la[... read more] carte" restaurants or securing the buffet tables, just avoid rush hours :);
- Staff is extremely friendly;
- Very safe hotel, security staff and cameras available in every area;
- Coffee Shop excellent;
- Check in/out smooth and fast;
- Based on our request, check out time was extended till 13.00 at no charge.
Cons:
- Charging 7 USD a day for a room deposit box, really?
- No minibar included, only bottled water
- No free WiFi, really?
- Beer (Dos Equis), not sure are they watering it in the Hotel, or ordering low quality beer at the factory, Hm...
- Coffee offered during the breakfast just terrible;
- Miniclub was not what we expected, very limited in terms of swimming pool and activities available.
Again: Staff is extremely friendly, people, make sure you tip these hard working helpers/bartenders/waiters/etc.
Overall this was very pleasant trip for our Family, parents and 2 kids.
