Catalonia Yucatan: very nice resort

The resort itself was beautiful and very clean. I loved the fact their was 2 buffets and tons of food to choose from. The food was amazing something for everyone and always fresh. The room was clean and air conditioning worked great and the maid was very through in cleaning. This resort does have a beach which we didnt use due to tremendous amount of seaweed. There was a little lagoon that connected the beach which didnt have much seaweed so we really enjoyed that and all the tropical fish that [... read more] came into the lagoon. The resort itself is a gated community so we would leave the resort often and felt very safe. We did a few activities went to the ruins and denotes which was amazing! Overall I would recommend this resort to families or anyone wanting to relax. They did have tons of activities by the pool each day and really worked hard at keeping guests entertained.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Beautiful resort

Great food, spacious rooms! Excellent food, Tapaz was the best for us. Service was very good, everyone went out of their way to please you. There was a wedding every day. The beach wasn't anything special, lots of seaweed. Overall my daughter and I enjoyed the resort. Get up early to save a cabana!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Incredible adventures await!

If you are looking for the perfect vacation with lots of relaxing and tons of adventure then look no further! This resort has it all from poolside drinks to quick trips to great sights and fun. The food was better than any buffet in Edmonton and the drinks were just as good. I have no complaints about the service, everything was perfect.

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Awesome resort

Lots to do at the resort. The staff works hard to have activities going on all the time. The 2 shows we watched was excellent. The food was excellent everywhere even the Buffett. Liked that you didn't have to book a la carts. The service was excellent even when you didn't tipped. Even room service was included. Wifi and long distance calling to US and canada was free. This place is truly all inclusive resort. Only down fall was the beach was weedy but they do rake it up every day.

Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya: Lovely Resort

Rooms were very nice and kept clean, food was excellent, we travelled with two teens who have celiac and are gluten free. Most of the restaurants were very good about this. My only suggestion would be there needs to be more shade options on the beach. There is plenty of room to build more of the shade huts and there needs to be 10 times the amount.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: very nice, not 5 stars, but 41/2

Rented superior penthouse which was worth the extra price.The hotel was very nice. The staff was excellent. The food was excellent but very hot in the buffet area because A.C. not adequate. Unfortunately, the hotel was not built to receive as many people for the entertainment space it has. No chairs at the pools by 8:00 am., beach umbrellas by 9:00 am. Spa excellent. Problems with one of the A.C. in my room for 5 days, but compensate with 2 free 1 hour spas which was very appreciated and more th [... read more]an fair. Fuentos was an excellent butler and tried his best when I had problems. Room service was amazing, food was excellent, arrived hot and always within 1/2 hr. after placing order. Service at the bars was always done with a smile, quickly and were very polite. Service at the beach was hit and miss most of the time. They would come 4 times in 20 mins. then nobody for 1-2 hrs. That is why I say it is 4.5 stars and not 5 as they advertise it. This is my 12th time in 4 different Bahia's.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Beautiful resort, good food, and great service

The Valentine is a honeymooner/anniversary resort with many of the guests being repeat guests. The resort has a loyalty program which we did not check out, because even though the resort was great,we do not intend to go back. I believe this resort to be overrated and over priced. The service was fantastic, but at no point did we feel "special" on our honeymoon. This could be due to the fact that there are SO many other honeymooners at the resort. Be prepared to not get a chair at the pool at pe [... read more]ak hours unless you pay for privilege. We chose not to fight for or save pool chairs because the fact that people did this, aggravated us. The resort needs to enforce the "no saving policy". Food was delicious mostly, however after 9 days the breakfast and lunch buffets do get a bit boring. There was often a wait to be seated in the almost empty restaurant at breakfast. The food was great at most of the a la carte restaurants for dinner, with the exception of the "Mar" restaurant which was more casual and the tuna missed the mark for me. If you like Sushi, get seated at the sushi bar at Ginger. We visited this place three times and it was amazing! The drinks were so plentiful, I felt almost out of place when I said no to an alcoholic beverage at the end of our trip. This was reflected in the rowdy and rude condition of all the guests (old and young alike) each afternoon at the pool. This was a complete turn off for us on our honeymoon and I believe ruined my attitude on this resort. The beach and ocean are wonderful. No complaints there. The room was fine; we paid for the "cheapest" one so we didn't expect a lot. It did exceed our expectations. The housekeeping staff was great and our mini bar was restocked daily. We do suspect though that a pair of earrings "went missing" from our room, but it is not something we could prove. I recommend keeping absolutely everything locked in the room safe, which I would do at any hotel. The resort is beautiful, decent food and probably the best service I have had at any resort. Also, I felt like the service was SO good that others took advantage of this and tipped to get whatever they wanted. This makes me very sad, as the people working on the resort work unbelievably hard and deserve better treatment. So, overall we enjoyed the hotel, but it was not the vibe we were looking for. That is not to say others won't enjoy it immensely.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Amazing staff

This was our 3rd time in the Riviera Maya. We usually stay at bigger resorts in the Tulum area, but wanted to try something different. The airport transfer was nice and quick. The grounds were beautiful and we loved that we didn't have to walk far to get to anything. The small resort meant that we got to know the staff better. We loved Moises in the Market buffet. Ask him for a coconut mojito. The Preferred club was worth it. Having wi-if throughout the resort and our own private adult pool was lovely. Booking an ocean view room online doesn't seem to be an option. The resort was quite full while we were there, so we could upgrade at a price. There is a little bargaining room, but the upgrade price seemed high. That being said, we did splurge and were so happy we did. You truly are almost at the ocean. We used our balcony a lot. A few downsides....really expensive to get out of the resort. They should offer a shuttle to the highway to cut down on the taxi costs. They also concentrate on weddings. We saw 3 a day. In s small resort that is a lot. At night there wasn't any peaceful place to hang out, although they were shut down by 11:00. Lots of talk about the seaweed on the beach. They work so hard to get rid of it. The beaches further down are nicer. We did swim, but beach walking was a challenge.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Super Nice Resort with Amazing service

Large resort but well laid out. Concierge service was impeccable Non-Member rooms were nice but the member rooms were much better. Internet access is spotty. Food was excellent except for French Resto

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Awesome Resort

Beautiful location, great staff and lovely resort. Very relaxing quiet small resort. Perfect! The food was plentiful and really good at the buffet. The restaurant were awesome too. The beach was really nice but there was a lot of seaweed washed up on the shore when we were there. We were told not the norm. Overall loved the resort will definitely go back.

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Amazing Vacation

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Iberostar Quetzal. The staff were friendly, our room was spotless, meals were good and the natural wildlife around the hotel made this hotel a very special one. The pools, beachside facilities and restaurants were lovely. The hotel was also within walking distance of Playa del Carmen and very close to a Starbucks. We were very happy with our stay here.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Everything excellent except the beach!

EXCELLENT, food, service, cleanliness, lobby, ability to go to other three resorts (Akumal, Tulum and Coba) GOOD, rooms AVERAGE, the beach and all the pools are shallow (max 5 feet). I like diving, but you cannot do it here. I suggest you take a taxi for full day (1500 pesos), go to Tulum ruins, swim in the beaytiful wavy beach (2-3 hours) and then go to cenotes Sac Actun (1.5 hours) in the morning and after lunch (you can come back to the resort) go to Akumal beach and Playa del Carmen.

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: nice resort

Our vacation to Secret Capri was very nice. The rooms are ok but we ended up with two double beds and had to have them pushed together. We couldn't enjoy the beach since the red flag was out and the beach has been washed away due to the hurricane. Food and staff were amazing!! We went to visit a sister resort and we were charge $100 US for a taxi. The resort was only 8 miles down the road. We mentioned this to the hotel staff but they didn't seem concerned. Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: great vacation

upon arrival the resort was very clean and staff were very pleasant. our room was not what we expected and staff made sure that we got what we requested without a hassle. beach was awesome and snorkeling amazing. As for food it was more than satisfactory and my wife is picky. this is not a party place, it for relaxation by far. would return without a problem.

Catalonia Yucatan: Catalonia Yucatan - well worth it

Customer service, food + bars all A+ The beach had lots of washed up seaweed, but the groundskeepers worked diligently to clean this up. Having been to this resort previously we knew what to expect, however, this trip surpassed our expectations. We are looking forward to returning to the Catalonia!

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Nice Resort - very Big area an long way to beach!

Could be a little cleaner around the grounds.....Rooms very clean and well kept. Great Buffett area the al a carte Restaurants not so good! No walk into area from beach way to rocky...needs some definite improvement in that area>

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Absolutely Perfect Resort

A stunning resort, very lush, amazing food and we were treated like we were family. Rooms were large, clean and very luxurious. Another plus was that the resort is only 20 minutes from the Cancun airport. We can't say enough about this resort. Would go back for sure.

Grand Sunset Princess: Will never return. never.

Poor checkin. Watered Down alcohol. Transformation carts always full and not showing up. And thats a lott off walking. Got 4 blisters on my feet. Not just me. The other ocupent were frustrated. Never again.

Amazing landscaping, have been travelling for 15 years and this place's grounds are superb. Room was excellent, always nicely cleaned on a daily basis. Most of the food, at the beach restaurant was cold, unless you were lucky to get a fresh batch of food out of the kitchen. When ordering a la carte, same issue, they cannot deliver at least a warm baked potato , cold . In result you have to ask for a very hot meal or most meals will be delivered warm at the best. Service is excellent, at all bars [... read more] and also on the beach. Top of the line alcohol variety. I would return, but will make sure and insist that my meal is delivered to my table hot.

Ocean Maya Royale: Fun resort with great staff

This is a smaller resort which is great....beach and pool 100 yards away; all dining facilities 100 yards away. The grounds are drop dead beautiful. Food is good (not excellent but good)....but be warned, the recreation staff are dedicated to having a good time. Great foam parties on Sunday afternoons, lots of activities and friendly bar staff.
