Iberostar Origin Tainos: Good for the price
The beach was amazing as were the resort staff. The room had ants, given since it was a tropical destination. The food was typical all inclusive buffet style food. Definitely a smaller, quieter resort. Little music on the beach and the resort seemed to shut down at 10 pm. But because it was a smaller resort, the hotel staff got to know you pretty well. Request a top floor bungalow.
Melia Las Antillas: Buyer Beware!!!!
The Hotel exterior and lobby area were clean and well kept with the exception of the winding river that housed a couple of nerf sharks and fish..... I hope they were not the fish they cooked up during the week - hence I did not eat fish!!!
Resonance Blu Varadero: Hopefully not my last trip South.
I really enjoyed Cuba as it was my very first time. One of my biggest passions is traveling but I seam to always get sick:( Hotel was good, grounds were amazing. People of Cuba are also amazing. They are so kind. Extremely friendly and I never once felt as tho I was threatened in Cuba. I would love more than anything in the world to go back but I'm afraid of doing those really poor countries anymore. Although I got sick I still managed to pull through and have an amazing time. I was very impress [... read more]
Sol Varadero Beach: Great place, Great people
The resort although an older one And going through some changes, I found it to be very clean, fantastic beach. The people are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay a good experience. Plan on going back again.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: This resort should be shut down
After our trip to the Allegro I have sworn off Cuba altogether. The hotel was in disrepair. The roof in the lobby was leaking, the rooms were dirty. When it rain one of the people traveling with us ended up with large amounts of water in their room. The dining room was dark and dirty. No table linens and brown paper towel ripped off a roll under your dishes. The food was horrible. After a bug crawled out of my husband's food we didn't eat at the resort again. Instead we snuck into the resort nex [... read more]
Grand Memories Varadero: Beautiful resort but under staffed
The hotel is only 4 years old but management has allowed it to get run down. We arrived in April 1 St and Memories took over th resort that day. this was our third trip to Cuba and have always enjoyed the safety of Varadero. We had a nice room and maid but towels were not plentiful at this resort and was told on more than one occasion that there was no clean ones left. The resort is very large and the staff cannot keep up to the amount of people that are booked. By day 5 we noticed more staff ar [... read more]
Memories Jibacoa: Beautiful resort, great location
Well maintained grounds, generally quiet resort, very nice people, good organic food, good food service, exciting entertainment, gorgeous mountain view, nice pool. Missing: pool bar, drinks (soft, alcohol and water) in the room fridge.
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Relaxing Escape from Winter
After suffering through the worst winter that we can recall in Halifax, we booked this resort because we had previously had good experiences with Paradissus resorts elsewhere. It it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived we were well looked after. Check-in was seamless, service was great, food was better than expected with great selection from the buffet to the a la carte restaurants. The resort was small enough that everything was close and big enough not to feel crowded. We will defini [... read more]
Playa Caleta: you get what you pay for
having been there before ...I knew just what to expect...the rooms need to be updated and elevators need to be repaired .The staff were the same as the last few times that we were there...friendly....there was no outside bar by beach needed to walk in to hotel to get drinks outside lunch was ok ...buffet needs work.Lots of unhealthy food handlers...as I said you get what you pay for...would I go back...for the price ...Yes!!!!!!!!!
Roc Arenas Doradas: good deal resort
Evetything good, staff nice, room perfect, beach beautiful, the only thing complaint is too many insects in the room, cockroach, big flies, mosquito, lizard, very scary.....! Not sleep well......! Overall good!
Resonance Blu Varadero: Deteriotated over the last two or three years.
Towels were not always clean. The toilet in 25116 did not flush well. Stocked bar advertized but only provided water. Many things were is disrepair. The hotel had deteriorated since our last visit two years ago and deteriorated since the year before. Maria the cleaning lady was very good. Jamie who looked after us in the buffet was very friendly and courteous. We liked the layout of the resort, the landscaping, and the friendly people who looked after us. The theater was great but no piano enter [... read more]
Palma Real: 3rd return trip
Our family of 4, which includes 2 kids 23 and 21, went first week of January. My daughter and I just returned from another week at the Bellevue Palma Real. This was my first trip to Varadero in March. We usually go after Christmas and around New Year's Eve. This hotel is centrally located to almost everything. Although the hotel is showing it's age we heard that it had just been purchased by a Spanish company. I'm not sure if this is true but random guests were asked to complete a questionnaire. Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Above average, not a 5 star
Traveled with wife and 10 year old son. Beach was beautiful, lots of swimming pools everywhere on resort(well maintained). No issues getting chairs at beach or poolside. Main buffet lots of variety/ a la cartes need some work. Ate at Cuban, Italian,Tex-Mex and Gourmet. Cuban excellent lobster(small portion), Italian(bland, worst meal I had at resort, Tex-Mex (only open Fri,Sat,Sun),reservation Friday night first seating and told they were out of tortillas. Gourmet-excellent steak dinner. Staff al [... read more]
Brisas Del Caribe: Fantastic
All staff was very friendly. Gisselle in public relations was the best! Rooms were very clean, not the newest hotel but renovating to make it more enjoyable.Had chance to see renovated room and was very impressed. We loved the foodand amenities. Have been there before and will definetely go back. THE BEST!!!!
Punta Peninsula Varadero: We were disgusted
We stayed at the Blau Marina Varadero resort in Cuba between March 25, 2015 and April 1, 2015. This was our second time visiting this resort. Our first was in 2010 when it was a Barcelo Princess Marina. That vacation and experience was far superior to the latest under Blau management. Overall it is disappointing to see the difference between this resort from 5 years ago. It is evident that the new ownership only cares about the main pool and buildings around that area. The biggest issue with o [... read more]
Hotel Los Cactus: Better than expected
Although we arrived late, there was food available and drinks. Check in was efficient, and we were in our room 20min. after arriving. The rooms were a bit dated for sure, but they had all the necessarys, and the ac worked fine. The only downer was the bed itself, extremely uncomfortable! So we slept a lot on the beach, ha! Never a problem with beach chairs or poolside, as amatter of fact there was never a crowd really anywhere, very chill. Staff here, are the best I've experienced, at any resort [... read more]
Muthu Playa Varadero: Good Resort
Beautiful grounds and pool area. Food is ok ,it is Cuba after all. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Nightly entertainment was fun and engaging. I usually stay closer to downtown Varadero because more things to walk to and enjoy at night.
Hotel Tuxpan: Not what I expected
This was our 3rd trip to Cuba, 3 different hotels, similar cost. Greeted by a grumpy front desk clerk with very poor English. Other resorts were way more nicer than this resort. Most of the staff did not speak English that well. I noticed that there were more Cuban friends? on resort and seemed to get served first at the bars. Food was good but not much variety. I really wanted hot spaghetti (ate mostly this) and could not get anyone to understand what I wanted. Finally after 4 nights of luke wa [... read more]
