Barcelo Maya Palace: Our 4th stay at Barcelo Maya Palace

Since 2010 we stayed for the 4th time at this resort. Last year we chose Palladium White Sands, which we regretted afterwards. Although Palace got more pricey since are last stay in 2013 (for 3 persons almost $1000 more for a 10 days stay). Rooms are well kept, although they require a bit of touch-ups. Buffet food is good gut but very repetitive. Top shelve drinks. The a la carte restaurants are good: Brazilian, Caribbean and French, but still the same menu as 5 years ago. They opened a dolphina [... read more]rium in the resort, where they have a short 10 minutes show daily. Also you can buy a package to swim with the dolphins (from $99 to $150), a bit pricey but a great experience for kids. Four months ago they opened a mini mall in the resort, where they have several high end shops, gift shop, bowling alley, Japanese restaurant (good) and an Italian restaurant (OK). The beach is amazing, lots of corals close by, where you can snorkel and see lots of fish, turtles, etc. The Palace beach is like a lagoon, but if you walk down 100 meters to the Tropical/Colonial beach, you can enjoy the waves. The staff are friendly and helpful especially if you tip them, but they deserve it. We will be back for sure.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Wonderful Stay

Well deserved of it's positive reviews. We've been to many 4½ and 5 star resorts and this one is one of the best that we've experienced. The staff were all friendly, food was wonderful and the facilities well maintained. We were there Easter week and although we were told that the hotel was fully booked, we never had problems finding empty chairs by the beach or pool. We stayed by the smaller family pool which was less hectic and more tranquil than the main pool. Perfect for couples who like to [... read more] relax and enjoy the resort amenities.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Beautiful Resort

The grounds are immaculate, lots of areas to relax or entertained, rooms clean,loved the well stocked snack places, and surprise outdoor meals, good variety of food, restaurants were amazing. Customer service needs improving.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Fantastic Resort

Hotel is just as nice as the more expensive Iberostar Lindo. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Beach is clean, bar staff friendly and very efficient. Food is excellent especially in the a la cart restaurants. Buffets always had fresh, hot food available and the staff was very helpful to answer any questions. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The grounds were well maintained. Lots of wildlife roaming the property - mostly peacocks and coati. Quite a few coati seemed to gather by the beac [... read more]h snack bar (picnic table area)-understandable considering they are from the racoon family. They didn't seem to bother the people there, just mostly gathered near the garbage can for food. They were also on the grounds of the property but again, didn't bother anyone. In fact, they seemed to control bugs since there were none it seemed. Entertainment staff was wonderful. Friendly, smiley and seemed to genuinely like their job. The shows at night were fantastic. The evening usually began with the "ice breaker" - the two young men who lead that part of the evening were perfect for the job. They were very entertaining and a great sense of humor. The main show was always well rehearsed and by the end of each show, you really appreciated the hard work of these young people. ... and then you would see them working bright and early the next day... again, smiling like it was their first day on job. An excellent resort and good value for your dollar. Service is the same if you tip or not. Its not like other places where you have to bring tip money for every drink or every meal - you will get a smile regardless. Highly recommend the Paraiso Beach.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Excellent

The resort is ideal. Most of the à la carte restaurants are very good. We had excellent service at the beach from our waitress Lucia. The drawback is that it does have enough shuttles from one of the resort to the beach. There should at least two at all times.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Perfect place

Quiet resort with everything you need. Service was awesome even at the hotel, pools, room service, or golf course etc. it's very clean. Landscape is gorgeous on site as much as the golf course. They have a quiet pool and some with more music and activity. It's not on the beach and we knew it. But they have shuttles every 10 minutes for those who want to go there and it give more intimacy to the place. Our stay was perfect!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Excellent resort!

We had a great time at the Royalton. The service, rooms and food was amazing. We would certainly go back! The beach is great for walking but did have seaweed. We were aware of this when we booked so it did not have a negative effect on our trip experience.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Loved this place!

I really enjoyed my 1st visit to Mexico & loved the resort! I will admit the wifi was annoying but it is a vacation so I put my phone down and enjoyed my hubby! Great staff, great room, amazing food!!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Fantastic! Everything was perfect.

People, beach and food amazing. Every detail was looked after and the only problem we had was running out of time and not having a chance to enjoy everything the Valentin had to offer. We will definitely go back to this wonderful resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Fantastic Family resort

The resort is beautiful, very well maintained, friendly and helpful staff, very family friendly, food was wonderful, pools were fantastic, our grandchildren had a wonderful and fun time, we would recommend this resort.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: great time!

We stayed at Grand Serenis Resort during the Easter break, 2015, and we had a great time. We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children, ages 7,9,11. The food was good, enjoyed the a la cartes, Japanese was our favorite! The kids enjoyed the pool more than the beach. They found it a bit rocky, but we did find a nice sandy part, and the workers worked hard to gather the seaweed. What an entertainment team! They made it really fun for everyone! The resort was big but not too big that you didn't get to know the staff. We were located in the 1600 block which was central to everything, buffet, beach, pool. My only complaint would be that the bed (pullout) that my husband and I slept on was very uncomfortable. Despite that, though, I would definitely recommend this resort to any family!

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Good resort for parents with young children

Huge resort, lots of walking, wonderful pool for children and excellent daycare for young ones. Lots of assorted drinks, wonderful and pleasant staff. Only downfall was the best shows were at 10pm which was way too late for us. The theater show at 9pm dragged on forever repeatedly with useless games and having the audience to clap or scream to which idiotic act was voted best of the evening. We were very disapointed of the beach, expecting nice white sand all over. Not the case. Only a few small areas to swim because the others have rocks. As you go to the end of the resort where the weddings are set up near the beach there is an awful smell. You would not want to sit there all day or even have lunch in that area. The jewelry store situated in the resort is very expensive. The same piece of jewelry is 1/3 of the price at the airport.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: A beautiful resort staff where very friendly.

The grounds are very lush and well groomed. Public areas are kept clean and the decor in all the lobbies is beautiful. The room was kept very clean and the decor very pleasing. The dinning areas are wonderful lots to choose from the food and drinks very good.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Good and bad

Fourth time to this resort for us as a couple , Check-in was smooth,Spent the first two nights in building #1 lots of construction in that area on the new secrets resort next door , We then upgraded to penthouse which was very nice in building #4 ,however if it rains there is no balcony coverings so prepare for wet cushions on your chairs and very slippery floors.Did not use the hot tub on the roof top but did do some star gazing which was amazing.The beds are comfortable now since the reno's.Ev [... read more]ery room is still ocean view.Open celing bathrooms are kind of weird when you want to have some privacy from your other half.Wifi works pretty much everywhere that is free even on the beach even tho i hate electronics when on holidays.Service at this reosrt is very good.New plunge pools through out the resort was a nice touch however they did seem like they needed more attention to cleaning the pools as i did see a green ring around the outside,only saw them cleaned once out of the 8 days we were there.Snorkling was still awesome as always however some of the reef was missing i have noticed hence the seaweed everyone was talking about washing up on the beach that was cleaned up daily by the ABR army of workers.Mini Bars in the rooms stocked twice daily.I did get sick and so did my partner when we were there perhaps from too much tequila we are not sure .I am a bit of a inspector freak so while eating dinner one nite at the buffet i watched a customer point out to staff how dirty the drinking glasses were so the staff removed them all..Another thing was at the main bar they are washing drinking classes by hand waiting for a new dishwasher to be installed that is just sitting there.That needs to be fixed asap for sanitization.Despite the downs i have mentioned yes we will return again as it is very hard to beat this resort for the beach and snorkling but this may change in the future once the resort next door opens and kills off the delicate eco system that is at this beach.We saw many different kinds of fish ,eagle rays.Sting rays,Turtles etc.Dive center onsite which was very good.I would recommend going but watch for sanitation issues as most people i talked to felt ill and stay away from building #1 if possible. Room Tip: Stay away from building # 1 until construction is done if possible.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Beautiful spot!

The hotel property was beautiful! We stayed in the adult only section (which I recommend) as you still have access to the entire resort but access to a different breakfast buffet (better). My main complaint would be that the staff did not enforce the no-smoking rule except for designated areas. There were signs posted everywhere but of course some people still decided to smoke right in the pool which is disgusting. Food was great, especially the French and Brazilian.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing resort

This was a clean resort, the food was really good and the restaurants a la carte was excellent (but when they say the dress code for men are long pants, they should stick to that; no short). Nice big pool with hot tubs .Staff is really nice. The only thing for us was that there was no beach.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Mind blowing!

Food was great, everyone including staff was having a blast, romantic settings and fun activities, room was beautiful and resort was clean and well maintained...best resort I've ever stayed at! Highly recommended!!

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Could be perfect with improvements

The food was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were large and beautiful. The beds were very comfy. Improvement is needed in more interactive entertainment and shade by the pool.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: One of the best in Mayan Riviera hands down

This hotel (Sian Ka'an) is the top echelon adults only section of the Grand Bahia Principe complex composed of 4 huge hotels and a shopping centre. It was nice to be removed from the hustle/bustle of the main resort full of kids and drunk vacationers in this secluded jungle paradise (the ONLY drawback is the distance to the beach). I recommend downloading the Grand Bahia App, it's a really easy fast way to reserve at the restaurants (although literally useless for anything else!!!) Grounds kept very nicely, welcoming friendly staff (esp if you know a little Spanish), no problems with reception or cashier The rooms were very nice, I prefer having a bath tub though (strictly shower stall), and a full length mirror would have been mint! Otherwise beautiful room location, always restocked daily, very quiet. The beach is very long with different swimming conditions throughout and an EXCELLENT swim out reef chalk full of fish!!! (ESP if you bring some bread or a Banana). However, water shoes are a MUST if you are going in any further than 5m from shore line). Nightlife is pretty good, so much variety of shows at different hotels in the complex. The disco was fun, lots of other young ppl. However, the SAME playlist played every single night, it was a bit rough by the end of the week LOL. The karaoke was very elusive and we never found it. Do not trust the app for activities as the event/times rarely matched up with reality (even the boards were wrong occasionally). Improving the free wifi access would have easily made this a 5 star for me, but sadly only free access in the lobby and your room (only free for Sian Ka'an). If you see anything under $1500 for a week (high season or no) jump on it, as it's well worth it! Also, it might be worth saying that the resort complex might be a bit TOO big for some. You have to ride trolleys everywhere and sometimes this involves waiting 5-10mins. Also, as the resort is HUGE, it's hard to make familiar/regular friends as you rarely see them again. Deffo a 4.5/5. More wifi and closer to the beach would have been 5/5.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing resort!

Hotel was a perfect size, grounds very well kept, room with king size bed had tons of space and designed well( less is more) the buffet had a great assortment for each meal and a change each day, the a la cartes were good but buffet just as good! The beach cafe food was perfect if u wanted to stay in your swimwear, the waiters/waitresses kept the tables clean at all times and no shortage of waitresses on the beach for drinks!
