IFA Villas Bavaro Beach Resorts: Great resort

We just returned from IGA Villas Bavaro Beach Resort and we really enjoyed our trip. Our rooms were wonderful (We chose Superior rooms) which were really clean and fairly new. I saw the regular rooms in the older building and they were awful. The buffet was average with not much diversity. It was always the same every day but we did eat at the restaurant à la carte which were great! The beach was not nice, there was lots of boats in the water. Almost seemed like a marina. Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Fantastic resort - LOVED IT!!!!

I loved staying at an only adult resort, it was my first time. The great thing about this resort, you could go next door to the family resort and enjoy their facilities as well. The bartenders were great always kept my drink full. The buffets were good as well, same as any resort you get tired of buffet all the time but we did go to 5 A La Carte restaurants which were great. The resort was clean and well kept up daily. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this location.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing Resort!

I enjoyed everything about this resort! I had so much fun and would most definitely go back! It’s a beautiful resort with great service and amazing food, I was amazed at how good the buffet and restaurants were! The employees there are so friendly and the entertainers do a great job in entertaining guests. The rooms were very clean as well as the public washrooms and the rest of the hotel/resort. I had a great week, I recommend for people of all ages! Thank you Gran Ventana!

Ancora Private Residence Yacht Club and Marina: Our Caribbean Home !

Well we Returned to the Alsol family again This year for a fabulous vacation. Last year staying at Alsol Tiara , this year at Also Luxury . Our room 4074 was gorgeous . With a large corner balcony. Peaceful , enabled us to see sunrise and sunsets . The service was outstanding, we just adored Cesar, concierge , Geomar, Ullisse, the sweet young man at the Tiara coffee bar, the entertainment crew . William and all the guys in room service were polite helpful and thoughtful . We like both resorts, l [... read more]ast year we had swim up rooms at Tiara, this year suite room at luxury . It was magnificent . Food was great, resort is pristine and so well maintained . We have already decide we would like to return next ear for our third time . Next year we wish to come with at least one or two other couples next Very very happy with our vacation

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Good resort

As other reviewers have said, this resort is very big. However it is still quite walkable, and while the trolly is almost always there waiting for you, we tended to walk more. We stayed in building 1 of Royal Golden, so at the beach end, and it probably took 10-15 minutes to walk to the lobby. While we were there I didn't really mind this too much, but when I came home and thought about my trip and compared it to previous trips, I realized the size was part of why I felt l liked other trips were [... read more] better. Again, it wasn't really an issue at all!! ...but it is nice to be a short walk away from everything - it is more intimate and you get to know the staff and other guests better. We ate at the Italian restaurant, the Mexican restaurant and the Grill and enjoyed them all. Italian was my favourite. The room was fine, we requested a playpen/pack and play, which was in the room.. but it was mouldy. I didn't bother asking for another one. We just didn't use it very much. The employees were lovely and helpful. The pool closest to the beach is definitely the party area, while the pool in the middle was a bit more tame, and better suited to families/mixed groups. Overall we enjoyed everything, the food was pretty good and we felt safe.

TRS Cap Cana Hotel: Our stay was magnificent

I cannot say enough about this resort, it was certainly above a 5 star rating. The rooms were clean, décor was great, beds were very comfortable, room service was remarkable, the grounds were spectacular, service was top notch, very friendly staff who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Our dining experience was fabulous, the meals were delicious from breakfast to dinner. I cannot find anything to complain about. Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great Vacation

Start by saying it’s a two hour bus ride on 50 minute like Air Canada says plus it’s a 3* not a 41/2 as Air Canada says however the resort is very clean small rooms but very clean fridge filled daily beautiful land scraping and great for anyone with mobility issues nice and flat . The food was great a good selection and the a la carted were great book your own in line and you can great four which is nice. Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Comfortable and relaxing stay.

While the pool area was always pretty full, it was never a problem to find some chairs and a shady hut on the beach. Buffet food was yummy with a large variety to choose from, and the à la carte restaurants were delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. I’d definitely return.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Great

The hotel was great but should highlight the stairs in the lobby better. My husband, who is disabled fell down them and I also saw two other people fall. If you walk up the stairs, you see the signs but there are no signs that there is a step going down. The lighting in the lobby was poor. I saw one guy slip and fall, and not one person from the hotel came to assist him. I must say they were very accommodating when tripcentral screwed up our request for a bottom room as my husband is disa [... read more]bled.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Bahia Principe

This is the second time travelling to this resort. We chose to go back because of the wonderful experience we had last time. Overall the grounds were kept beautifully, rooms were clean and staff was great. The buffet food was never hot(only if it was cooked in front of you), lack of hot water and water pressure in 4/6 rooms. The bugs were terrible. Not our cup of tea. The booking through trip central was easy! They are always great there. Even upgraded us to suites, which was great!

Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Upset that we didn’t get our deposit back from trip central. We will not be booking through trip central again.

We booked our trip in early November to go to sunscape Bavaro in Punta Cana. We have always booked our vacations with tripcentral. Unfortunately we had to cancel early in December as one of us found out we would have to start chemo and radiation ASAP. We had to both cancel but gave plenty of time advising tripcentral of the situation. I’ve made several attempts to try and get back our deposit and even with these horrible circumstances to no avail did tripcentral want to help us either by r [... read more]eturning our deposit or giving us a credit for a future vacation if that could be possible. Paradisus Punta Cana: Great stay

Very clean and well run resort, all meals were well above average. Service was excellent in restaurants, beach was very nice...had a small issue with language barrier at times and they could do a better job of advertising events. If i had to rate it on a scale of 1-10 i would give it an overall rating of 9. Very nice place.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Heaven on earth!

This place was heaven for us. Great food, great pools (beach was small with big waves), rooms were super clean and big. Lots of lounge chairs at the beach and pools. But what stood out the most was the service. Everyone had a smile on their face and worked very hard to please us. This was our second time there. We never go anywhere twice, but heard that it was going to become a family resort this summer so wanted to go again when it was adults only. Occidental Caribe: Awful experience

The hotel itself, the room, the view and giving us complimentary champagne for our anniversary was lovely, unfortunately that was the only nice things about the experience. We arrived late Monday evening and went for something to eat on the buffet. Later that evening I was ill, it could have been from the full day of travel but I have traveled many times in the past and did not have this happen. It was apparent from the first morning going down to the buffet for breakfast that the service was [... read more] not the best. Almost every morning this would happen, we would get a table, we could never find one already set with cups, napkins and silverware. Then one of us would wait at the table to get a cup of coffee. Most of the wait staff spoke very little English so communication was quite a struggle. If you were Spanish speaking you received excellent service, sometimes more than one server at the table. I am not too sure if the staff were hesitant to approach due to the language barrier. On the Wednesday we were at the pool swim up bar, I am not too sure if this was due to having too much sun or having a reaction from the liquor they call Mamawanna but I became very ill and had to be assisted back to my room by wheelchair. Again, I would say that my husband and I have traveled many times to Cuba, Mexico and cruises and have not had this happen. For two days there was no cold water in the room, therefore you could not flush the toilet or take a shower. Then we had no hot water for one day. We usually love to sit on the beach and enjoy the ocean. Unfortunately it was far too windy to be able to enjoy that, the pools are kept very clean and we did enjoy the quieter pool that had wonderful service for lunch at the restaurant. It was helpful that we were able to have a la carte restaurants almost every night as we found the buffet quality of food not very good. Things did improve slightly when we had a great experience on an excursion. We were stopped in the lobby daily to try to get us to buy into their vacation club and found this very annoying. We went to try to purchase souvenirs at a local market within walking distance and found the people very aggressive, we did not return and purchased things at the airport instead. On the day we were leaving I called for assistance with our luggage and they did not understand at the front desk. My husband was returning the towels so I attempted to bring the suitcases down, I was struggling to bring them to the front desk and was not offered any assistance. I asked the front desk where we could store our bags, the girl simply pointed to a door. I went to the door, it was locked, when going to get assistance from one of the bellmen I tripped and fell, again no assistance from anyone. We had our beach towels stolen from poolside not once but twice. I spoke to the manager regarding this and he did assist me to get new towels. In the advertisement for the package it said there would be a robe, slippers and a bottle of rum in the room, this was not there upon arrival, when trying to speak to staff or the Sunwing rep again there were things lost in translation and understanding. It is customary that the cleaning staff leave a decorative towel design, ensure that there are fresh towels and restock the bottles of water as needed unfortunately this did not happen as well. This was out first experience in Domincan Republic and I do not think we would return. For the amount of money spent I really felt like I was an inconvenience to the staff and they really did not like the tourists at all. A very different experience from when I have traveled in other countries where they are so very polite, friendly and approachable. This was a vacation that I wanted to leave to go home instead of feeling sad for leaving. The flight was excellent and staff on the flight very friendly.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Location

The initial thoughts as soon as we arrived were great. The place looks amazing, very classy and I would suggest possibly 4.5*. When it came to our room we just got a standard room but because it was a corner room in the far building our room was massive! 20+ feet ceilings for sure and lots of space. The food here is amazing, normally resort food isn't anything to write home about but this was that odd occasion where it was better than the rest. There is no 24hr bar, theres not real night life here which is why it would be great for older people however my gf and I went because we didn't read too much into the resort and for a 4* it was priced right and seems like a lot of other younger people did that same thing so it was a little disappointing. The real question I guess most people would want to know is would we go back? Absolutely. Top notch resort and the employees are extremely friendly and fun to be around.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Dream Vacation in the Dominican!

The hotel, staff, service and setting were phenomenal--we'd go back in a hot minute! Avoid the lobster (smaller and mushier than Canadians are accustomed to) but otherwise the food and drinks were amazing and the presentation of it showed pride and attention to detail in all aspects. The ocean-front rooms allowed us to fall asleep to the sound of the surf and the wind in the palm trees--and the rain which only seems to fall (conveniently) at night! The excursions were phenomenal (I plan to re [... read more]tire ON the Dr. Fish boat) and the image of those turquoise waters and white sand beaches are seared into my imagination to hold me over until my next vacation. I would never have picked the Dominican (too touristy I thought) but I'm so glad I went--do it!!

Excellence Punta Cana: Wonderfull Trip

Beautiful Ocean view rooms[with pool views also] with about half of the rooms. Long sandy shoreline especially for a mid size property[around 500 rooms].Doesn't take long times to get anywhere and a nice walk around the resort and beach.Food and service is great at this resort.We had most of our breakfast's at the Lobsters Restaurant [instead of the Buffet] for the excellent service,staff and ocean views[open air].You may be limited to areas you can ocean swim as it was windy there and big waves [... read more] but was a beautiful view. Lots of lounges around the beach area but the pool ones go faster if it is a windy day. Shows activities, are similar to other resorts[Michael Jackson, theme song dancers, circus show] Disco opens at 11 and is very small,dark and loud so we never went in over 3 checks. Activities are tucked away at the far side of the resort[tennis, basketball, pool, ping-pong, mini golf] but not many there. For young couples looking for a quitter private trip this is a great choice. If your young couples or singes looking for more activities , nightlife etc. I would check out some larger resorts. Shopping at this resort is very expensive[jewelry, clothes] except for the smaller items.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Awesome resort

I had a wonderful time staying at Cofresi, this was my second time being there and it was just as good if not better than the first time. There is always fun activities going on, fun for all ages! The food was delicious everyday and all the staff members were incredible. There are so many pools which makes it easy to get a chair either by the pool or on the beach, no need to stress about overcrowding.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Good Resort

Over all the grounds were beautiful and the workers were all very kind and enjoyable to be around. The meals were average. The beach was a little dirty- had to walk 20 mins to nice beach. wifi didn’t work AT ALL.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: wonderful !

My husband and I stayed at this resort from FEB13-23/18. The staff were welcoming with a warm smile! Our room was on the third floor... it was spacious and clean albeit the furniture was dated.The balcony was also large and we had a view of the pools and of the beautiful blue ocean.The food was good with a varied menu of selections.At the beach there was always palapas available so you did not have to go early to reserve a spot. Wifi was only available in the lobby but it was free.Our room was  [... read more]always cleaned by housekeeping in the morning with fresh towels stocked daily. The mini fridge was also replenished on a daily basis. Thank you to the Caribe Club Princess for the hospitality!!!
